Today is just not fun for me. Why you ask? Well, to make some sense, let's start from the beginning of my ruined plans.
It all started when I was in the living room reading the Canterlot Times, as I took a sip of my coffee. An article caught my attention; Queen Chrysalis has been captured by Princess Twilight and friends and is put behind bars down at Canterlot. After reading through the article, a knock came to my door. I walk up to my door and opened it to see my captain, Shield Shard, looking up to me with a soft smile on his lips. To give you a description of him, he has blue eyes, black fur, white mane and tail, and has a scar on his lower lip.
"Good morning, Mr. Human," said Shield, as I stood up straight and saluted him.
"Good morning, Sir," I said before putting my hand down.
"No need to be like that overtime you see me, Mr. Human," he said. "Just act like yourself for now. You're not on duty yet."
"May I ask you something, Shield?"
"Go right ahead."
"Why can't you remember my name? It's Zack. Also, what do you mean by 'yet'? You told me yesterday that I have the day off for this new years."
"Just hear me out, Zack," he said, as he flings his right hoof back and forth. "Don't be hasty."
I was a bit angry when he told me that I had to do something that will ruin my day off. I crossed my arms and tapped my foot to hear his explanation. He clears his throat, as he places a hoof on his chest before putting it down.
"So, I believe you've read it in the Canterlot Times that Queen Chrysalis has been captured. Am I correct?"
"How did you know I was reading the Canterlot Times?" I asked with surprise. "Have you been watching me?"
"It was just a hunch. Anyway, princess Celestia has made a rule that every night, Queen Chrysalis is to be watched under somepony's eye in case she plans on escaping."
"And?"
"We had to agree to her terms and I am putting you in charge of looking after her tonight."
"Why me out of the others?"
"Well, you haven't been here for the Canterlot wedding and Chrysalis hasn't seen a human before."
"So you want me to be there watching over her so that I can scare her because I am human?"
"In a sense."
"Is that all I have to do? Just watch over her and make sure she doesn't escape?"
"That too."
"I'll do it, but you owe me for this."
"You can have tomorrow off."
"Deal."
Now here I am, walking down the stairs to Chrysalis's prison wearing my armor, along with the captain beside me wearing his armor and helmet. The way down the stairs is a bit dark; the only lights are lit torches on the side of the stone walls. Around my shoulders, is my bag with something to eat, drink, and a book that I left in there since yesterday. On my side, is my sword, just in case if she escapes and tries to attack me.
"So captain," I said. "What exactly does a changeling look like? I only hear about them in books that they are bug-like and they can take form of any pony they come across. Is that true?"
"It is. You see, I was there at the attack."
"What was it like?"
"Ponies screaming, changelings flying around, and some of my soldiers stuck to changeling goop. It was a mess, until princess Cadance and Shining Armor used their magic to send the changelings flying."
"I apologize if I wasn't there."
"That's okay. No pony saw it coming and most of us are safe. Some got hurt, cut, bitten, and even broken a few bones."
"Really? Some were hurt?"
"Didn't know the bugs could be such little monsters. Now that we have their queen, they are useless without her."
"They must be freaking out somewhere out there."

As we make it to the final step, there is this long hall about two meters far without prison cell ahead with a torch lit above it. I gulped, as my body quivered a bit. I am pretty shaken up by what the queen looks like.
"You alright?" asked Shield. "You're shaking a lot."
"I'm j-just a bit scared."
"No need to be afraid of her, it's perfectly safe. We tied her wings down, put a ring around her horn so that she can't use any magic, and we have her legs in cuffs so that she won't escape."

We walked forward the long hallway towards the cell, as my curiosity went to its peak on what the queen of changelings looks like. As we get about a few feet from her cell, there is a small bared up window with moonlight shining down onto the figure that lied beneath its warm. Lying there was a bug-like creature with teal colored mane and tail, a crooked horn with a ring attached, dark grey chitinous body, holes close to its hooves that are now cuffed, fangs glinting from the moonlight, tied up bug-like wings, and a crown on her head.
"Hey wench!" shouted Shield, as he stomps the floor with his hooves. "Wake up!"
The creature opens its glowing green eyes, that... dare I say it, looks alluring. She looks towards me, making her eyes open up more. The mere sight of me, made her frightened. She quickly gets on all fours and stood up tall, almost bigger than I, but is still frightened by my appearance.
"What in Equestria's name is that thing?" asked the creature in a royal-like voice.
"This here is a human, Chrysalis," said Shield, making her hiss with anger.
"A human? Never heard of anything like you before."
"He's from another dimension, you could say."
"Another dimension?"
"He's from a place called Earth. Very different to ours."
She walks closer to the cell bars to get a good image of me. She looks down at my shoes, to my jeans, my shirt, my brown hair, then to my green eyes. As I stare into her eyes, I felt as though I was under some sort of spell.

"The bathroom is right to your right, there's a stool behind me for you to sit on, and there are two guards upstairs guarding the entrance of this prison. If you need any help, don't be afraid to ask them anything."
"Thanks, Sir," I say, as I give him a salute. "I won't fail you."
He smiles before walking past me.
"See you tomorrow," he says, as he walks away.
I look back at Chrysalis, as she gives me a smile.
"So you are here to look after me tonight?" she asks, as she sits down.
"Shut up," I said. "Don't you even try to use your... hypnosis on me. If you try anything on me, I will hurt you. Don't mess with me."
"Sorry, Zack," she said, as her ears flop down. "I'll leave you be."

Hook line and sinker; she has no idea of the human world and that there has been violence.
"Indeed I have. There are plenty of people getting killed and it feels as though war never ends."
"You're lying," she says in a serious tone.
"No I-"
"I can tell you're trying to scare me, but it's not working."
She stands up and takes a few steps closer to the cell bars with her shackles clinking with each step. As she was close, I was looking up at the changeling queen, who is about a few feet taller than I, looking down at me with glowing eyes.

"Silence, you cur," said Chrysalis angrily, cutting me off. "I invaded for a reason. I had to take drastic measures so that I can let my hive live."
"Drastic reasons?"
Chrysalis sat down with a sad expression on her face. I'm such a softie and began to feel bad for her. There has to be a reason for why she would invade Canterlot. I look towards the stool to my left and walked over to bring it back with me to sit down.
"Chrysalis," I said calmly. "Why would you invade Canterlot? Why couldn't you go up to Celestia and explain your problems?"
"Because ponies fear us," she replied. "Since my kind existed, we are labeled 'monsters' or 'freaks of nature'. You see, we never did anything, but they accuse us because of how we look. I couldn't stand it. I hate being called a monster, including my changeling hive. Our race is coming to extinction and the only thing that we must feed on to survive is love. My children are out there alone, leaderless, confused, and hungry."
"But why attack Canterlot?"
"Because there was a strong amount of love energy and I was just so angry of ponies calling us freaks and I had enough of it."
"So you couldn't take anymore insults and decided to take revenge?"
"That's right."

"So you are saying that if I become a friendlier changeling, they would be kinder to me and my kind?"
"Exactly what I'm talking about. Be kinder to others and they'll be kinder to you. If you give ponies the idea that you are a monster and start attacking them, they'll fear you. You just made a bad decision and that's why they fear you more. Chrysalis, if you want to correct your mistakes, why not be friendlier?"
"Why should I now? They locked me up because of what I did. No pony forgives me."
"They will if you change your attitude. If you stay the same way you are, nothing will change."
"Will it work?"
"Chrysalis, you are who you choose to be. You can be good or you can be bad. You have the power to change. "You see, you can either live in pity or you can change your ways. It's your decision."
Chrysalis looks baffled; she moves closer to the cell bars until she was closer to me than ever.
