New Year
Apple Bloom shifted very uncomfortably in her bed moving ever so slightly and she was not alone there in the bed, she was also there along with the other Cutie Mark Crusaders.
Meanwhile however Applejack and Rarity and Rainbow Dash were there and tried to explain to them why they had to sleep in and not stay up all night long.
“But Applejack,” she said with a whine, “Why do you get to stay up all night and we have to sleep, can’t we for once stay up all night like you guys?”
“Because you’re young, you’re different, and you need more sleep.”
“We’re not that young,” she said, “We can stay up all night without falling asleep, we promise, and we’ll be extra good next year if you do let us stay up, again we can promise you this, right girls?” she asked the others.
Applejack sighed and hung her head in defeat, “All right then, you can stay up, but you’ll still have all your chores to do tomorrow, and also don’t wander off or stray too far, got that?” she asked the three young little fillies.
“YES!” Apple Bloom shouted with joy, “OUR FIRST NEW YEAR’S EVE NIGHT!”
And with that said the three young little fillies jumped up and down with delight on their beds as the three adults merely just shrugged it off.
Sometime later all of them met at the train station to go to Canterlot where the largest celebration would be held by the Princesses themselves, and that also happened to include their friend Twilight Sparkle.
Pinkie Pie was being herself on the platform and ranting about how ‘nervicited’ she was while the other friends talked.
“I can’t believe that Twilight was put in charge of this whole entire thing,” Rainbow Dash said.
“And I can’t believe that we were invited,” Rarity said.
“And I can’t believe I was forgotten,” Discord said popping up, “And if we playing this game can we please try to make it interesting?”
“Discord?” Applejack said, “What are you doing here?”
“Oh, don’t you know? I was also invited, I guess that they thought that they needed a little bit more chaos to go around in their parties, and that’s very considerate of them, but I feel so abandoned not being invited by any of you guys, oh woe is me, I am always forgotten and never to be used by writers.”
“Huh?” Applejack said, “Look, we don’t really care, but why are you here?”
“Oh, that?” he asked, “Well I am your transport of course, did you really think that you would have to ride on a train, that’s so boring and very old.”
“Wait, you’re saying that you’re not coming with us?”
“Well of course, you’re coming with me instead.”
And with that said he teleported all of them to the Royal Canterlot Castle.
“Tah-Dah!” he said “I don’t know why you ponies won’t ever use your magic to go somewhere fast, walking and taking the trains is just so boring and old and so very slow, it just makes no sense, and coming from me that means a lot.”
“Look, Discord,” Applejack said, “We appreciate the help and effort…”
“Well of course you do, I’m me!”
“But are you sure that this is the best thing to do?”
“Well of course! You have a party to attend and you needed to get here fast, and the fastest way I know is by me, and friends should always help each other out when they need to get somewhere fast or any other thing or time, right?”
“Well yes, of course, but please try to warn us in the future.”
“I’ll do my best but I make no promises, now if you excuse me I must be going, I want to get some famous celebrities cameos before they’re all taken.”
And with that said he vanished in a puff of smoke.
“Well, that was certainly interesting,” she said once he was gone, “Well come on now every pony, we’re here and it’s a party, so how about we have some fun?”
And with that said every pony went into action, Pinkie Pie went around to make sure that is was the most super-duper awesome coolest party ever.
Rainbow Dash was ‘chillaxing’ with the Wonderbolts.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders were running around the place trying things out.
And Fluttershy hid in a corner talking to animals while Rarity was talking some fashion sense with other ponies, meanwhile Applejack found Twilight.
“I am sure glad to see you,” Applejack said, “How’s your day or night?”
“Fine,” she said, “And I’m sure glad to see you and every pony else here too, and I also noticed that the Cutie Mark Crusaders were here, but why?”
“I figured that it wasn’t worth the fight or battle with them about if they were old enough so I let them tag along.”
“That’s great,” Twilight said, “But how’s the party going anyway?”
“Fine,” Applejack said, “But Discord is here, did you know that? He could cause some very serious damage or trouble if he got out of hand.”
“He’ll be fine,” Twilight said, “And I did know he was here.”
“Of course you did,” Applejack said, “But how’s the Princess doing anyways?”
“Oh, she’s fine,” she said, “Maybe a little bit sick or stressed, but still fine.”
“Well did she teach you anything before she left you in charge?”
“Yeah, she did actually, she said to me that the most important thing about the New Year is that it is a chance to start over new once more again.
And just as the year can start over new once more again, so can our friends, our family, and even our enemies if we will only give them the chance.”
“Is that why Discord is here?”
“Partially,” she said, “But mostly so he can add a little fun and spice and life to this party, now come on, have some fun.”
And with that said Twilight wandered off leaving Applejack all alone.
Discord soon came in with his many celebrity cameos sometime after that.
Eventually however the time for the final countdown began.
“Ten, nine, eight,” every pony shouted with joy, cheer and delight as Pinkie Pie looked like she could explode at any second, “Six, five, four, three, two, one, HAPPY NEW YEAR’S!”
And with that a great shout of cheer, joy and delight went up as the New Year began, and soon it would seem that many would find a new place and start and new goals and resolutions, and every pony was satisfied and content.
And in the end after the party had ended and it was cleaned up Applejack felt something strange, she felt pity and sorrow, but over what exactly?
She did few things that she would eventually regret, but then she knew what it was exactly, and she knew who she needed to see.
And with great reluctance she cried out his name, “Discord?” she asked softly, “Can you hear me?”
“Well of course I can dear,” he said popping right up, “I’m here.”
“Look, I’ve been doing some thinking recently…”
“That’s always a dangerous activity and thing to do.”
Applejack ignored this side comment and went on.
“And I have decided to give you a second chance and shot at being good, so what do you say, want to be friends?”
“Well of course I do,” he said, “And I never imagined those words would come from you, oh what a joyous day this is indeed!”
And then he pulled out a camera, told Applejack to smile at it as he smiled, and then a photo came out of it.
“I’m saving this one for my wall,” he said, “Granted it’s not as good as Lulu’s or Cay Cay’s pictures, but I guess that it will have to do.”
And with that said he put it on a menu from a shop and said, “We’re going to have so much fun! Imagine all the things we’ll do!”
And with that said Discord rambled on in the train until they got home.
And when they did he eventually stopped and they all went home to have some rest and sleep.
And when Applejack did finally fall asleep that night, she was satisfied and content, and all was well in that small little town of Ponyville.
For now a New Year had come, and that meant new hopes, new fears, new dreams, new ideas, new thoughts, new goals, new ways of doing old stuff or things.
And perhaps the most important thing of all, new friends.
