A thousand years before the return of Nightmare Moon, Equestria is on the precipice of disaster. NIGHTMARE REVENT, the former apprentice of Princess Celestia, has unleashed an invincible Umbra legion upon an unprepared Equestria.
Along with the Nightmare’s apprentice PECUS, the duo’s war of conquest has left the ancient and seclusive order,the SYNERS, scattered and vulnerable. Equestria has been left to fend for themselves, as many of it's surrounding allies have fallen in battle and many more have sworn allegiance to the dark master. With few options remaining, Princess Celestia forms an unlikely alliance with the ancient order to combat this evil.
