Ch.1 New Guy

A new day... a new adventure... Is what I would like to say... sadly though, after months of the CHS Musical Event; we fought off a new threat called the sirens. I haven’t seen news nor hair of them ever since then; school life has been normal, being with friends, the life of a student. Now... after seeing how the sirens were taken away from their home... it just reminds me of why I’m here in the first place. I made some great friends while I’ve been here, but it’s no excuse for the things I done... That reminds me of one old friend I met when I first came to this world... he was... interesting... but I met him that one time sadly, and... I wonder if I’ll ever meet him again. I hope to meet you again, and maybe we can hang out some more without... you know... anything weird happening out of the blue.

From your student and friend, Sunset Shimmer

“Done, I wonder how Twilight is doing back at Equestria? Well, she’s a princess so she must be very busy and doing a lot of important work,” said Sunset.

Sunset sat alone as she leaned against CHS’s statue; after finishing writing her recent letter to Princess Twilight Sparkle. It has been couple months since the siren incident and the three sirens haven’t been spotted since then. Our heroines have one and are enjoying their lives... however, it seems Sunset is a tad homesick.

“HEY SUNSET!”

Sunset looked where the source of the speaker came from; at the entrance of CHS was Sunset’s closest friends, this world’s Mane 6... well except without Twilight. Pinkie waved happily at her friend, behind her were Fluttershy who held her pet bunny, Angel. Among them was also Applejack and Rainbow who were currently talking about one of their many competitions with one another. Finally was Rarity, wearing something either she found interesting at the mall or made it herself... it could be the latter... maybe...

“Oh hey girls!” said Sunset, waving back at Pinkie.

“We’re heading to Sugarcube Corner, you wanna come?” asked Pinkie.

Sunset looked at her journal until she placed it away into her bag. Picking up her belongings she followed her friends to Sugarcube Corner. “Sure, let’s head off now,” said Sunset.

The six friends headed off after a day of classes at school; the life of student. Once arriving at Sugarcube Corner, the building was filled the brim with energy as people talked about the latest events today, or past memories. Sunset and her friends sat in a corner of the building, talking to one another about their day. Applejack noticed Sunset’s quiet form, and tapped her silent friend on the shoulder.

“Something wrong, sugarcube?” asked Applejack, a friendly smile upon her lips.

Sunset looked at Applejack a little stunned, but continued to stare at her unfinished milkshake. Swirling the drink with her straw, Sunset stares out the window into the sky. “Just feeling... a little homesick...” said Sunset, sighing.

“What you mean Sunny? Your already are at home,” said Rainbow, placing both her hands on the back of her head.

“Rainbow dear... you must remember Sunset is from... well... from the same place Twilight is from too...” said Rarity. “This isn’t her ‘true’ home.”

Rainbow stopped smiling and began to grin in attempt to apologize for her mistake. “Sorry, I forgot,” said Rainbow. “Hehehheheeeee...”

Sunset turned to looked at the worried expressions of her friends, and smiled back in return. Finishing the rest of her milkshake, she sits up properly and tries to change the conversation. “It’s alright, but maybe when Twilight comes by again... we can do a picnic of sorts maybe. It be a nice idea to do something for the weekend,” said Sunset.

“There’s the Sunset I know,” said Applejack, patting Sunset on the back. “I could bring Granny Smith’s famous apple pie!”

“Oh oh oh, maybe I could bring some cupcakes, cake, muffins, and-”

“Now now Pinkie, this is a simple picnic not a buffet,” said Rarity.

“Okay... but I could bring this new cake recipe I made the other day,” said Pinkie.

“I could bring some cookies; they would fit perfectly with the season,” said Fluttershy.

“Then’s it’s settled,” said Sunset, standing up. “Next Sunday we’ll go for a picnic near the forest on the far edge of town; there’s this nice hill we can eat over. I’ll also see if Twilight could come over, if she’s not busy.”

All of Sunset’s friends rose up and placed their hands together in the center; with one hand placed over another hand from one of their fellow friends, they raised them high with a small cheer. “YEAH!” shouted all the girls.

All the girls giggled to themselves; Sunset stopped her laughing and looked into the sky and smiled to her reflection. As the sun was setting, all friends began to head to their respective homes; Sunset walked alone under the glow of moon. After an hour of walking she approaches a bricked apartment; the entrance lobby made of marble but showed signs of aging. The counter-top revealed a man wearing a suit; whether the suit was part of the employee dress code or not was the real mystery.

“Good evening, Silent Whisper,” said Sunset, greeting the man.

The man looked up from a newspaper he was reading; the man gave a warm smile and nod, but continued his reading. The man known as Silent Whisper or many call Whisper was one of the oldest workers in this apartment complex… many could say he could be the owner… that was half true. Whisper’s grandson; Bright Vocals, was the inherited son who was in charge of the long-old building, while his father and mother were given the deserved retirement they needed. The Bright Vocals was a kind soul, and whenever he was seen many would smile… except Whisper; many believe he doesn’t smile when he sees his grandson but, that’s because he must be the responsible figure he is for his age, and Bright knows so and tries his best as role as manager or boss in other words.

“Have a good evening, Whisper,” said Sunset, waving goodbye to the old man.

Whisper grunted, and lifted a hand to wave goodbye; Sunset walked up to an elevator but saw the “Out of Service” sign and sighed to herself. It’s one of those days… Sunset looked to the door where the stairs were and began her slow climb up. Luckily her floor was the fourth out of the ten there are; reaching her floor, Sunset headed to the last room at the far end of the hallway. Room 30… Home.

Sunset pulled her keys and was about to open them when… she heard a familiar voice behind her. “Hey Sunny! Nice day we’re having!” said a bouncy familiar voice.

Sunset turned around and was met with a face both familiar and gave some bad memories. It was one of the sirens, the blue one called Sonata Dusk. “Oh hey Sonata,” said Sunset, smiling back.

While the sirens did tried to attempt to control everyone; this was the closest thing to food to them, luckily they had enough shards to make one gem. That single gem is the only thing that can make them survive one more day and next and so forth. I only found out a month after their little fiasco that they lived in the same apartment, the same floor, and were one room near from mine… we were neighbors. While at first we started off in bad terms, but one day Adagio Dazzle their leader of sorts said she and Aria Blaze, the one with anger management issues were off to work and none of them could stay to watch Sonata. Surprisingly while they are old enough to not have a guardian watching them since Adagio is 19 while Aria and Sonata are both 17, Sonata acts like a child and nearly burnt down their old home. I remember when she first approached my door the first time those months ago.

Two months after “The Mane Event”…

“You want me to do what!?” shouted Sunset.

“Look… Sonata can’t be home by herself; the only thing I will ever trust her with is the gem that’s keeping us all alive. The last time we left her alone, she nearly burnt down our old place,” said Adagio.

“It was an accident...” said Sonata.

“Which was; when you spilled gasoline on the burner? Or when you almost put a car battery into the microwave?” said Aria, both her arms crossed.

Sonata stayed silent while Aria facepalmed herself; Adagio glared at both of them and returned her focus on Sunset. “Look… I know we haven’t have good… times before-”

“Your point?” asked Sunset.

“What… I am saying is that… I… need your help… and your the only person… that I can trust...” said Adagio, biting her lower lip. Adagio rubbed her arm; both her and Aria work in the same work environment since it was safer to work together than separately. They both worked in a mailing service which was where Derpy’s mother and Derpy herself work at too. “All I’m asking is for you to watch Sonata for the night; out of the three of us, she’s the most tame… Please… I’m only asking for this one night, after that I won’t bother you… I-I’ll even do something for you in return… okay?”

Sunset crossed both her arms, and looked all the sirens until her stare ended at Sonata; Sonata was busy playing with some yarn from Aria… who only got her hands all tied up. Sunset mentally snickered to do and sighed in response. “Alright… only this one time,” said Sunset.

“Tha-”

“But!” said Susnet, raising one finger up. “I ask you of one thing...”

“And, that is?”

“...You must apologize to my friends and everyone at CHS,” said Sunset, grinning.

Adagio face contorted to anger and frustration until she felt a hand on her shoulder; it was Aria. “Just do it Adagio,” said Aria, whispering. “We’re gonna be late for work soon.”

Adagio stare down on the ground, and sucked up whatever pride she had and looked right into Sunset’s eyes and brought a hand forward. “Deal!” said Adagio with resolve.

Both the pony and siren in disguise shook each others’ hands a went their ways… right after they left Sonata with Sunset. “Make sure she doesn’t go near anything that can break. An if she wants to cook… watch her every move!” shouted Adagio running to the stairs, since the elevator was broken… the second time. “Oh and make sure she doesn’t go near the balcony and all doors and windows are locked when she’s asleep!”

“She sleepwalks!” shouted Aria.

“I DO NOT!” shouted Sonata, back at Aria.

“Good luck!” shouted both Adagio and Aria.

Both the sirens disappeared like the wind… leaving only Sonata and Sunset in the hallway. Sonata looked at Sunset, and began to look at the ground sadly as if she already did a mistake already. “...Are you going to ditch me here?” asked Sonata.

Where did she get that idea from? “No no no no noooo! I promised I’d watch I will; come on, get inside,” said Sunset.

Sonata was taken back by Sunset’s honesty and accepted her offer. On that day, both Sonata and Sunset gained a close friendship, and in the future both became close friends. Sometimes Sonata would slip out once and awhile and accidentally call Sunset sister; but Sunset was okay with that.

Present time…

“Are Adagio or Aria home?” asked Sunset.

“Well Adagio is at work, but Aria just went across the street to do our laundry; so it’ll be alright for me to stay home for today,” said Sonata. “…Say… can I ask you something?”

Sunset raised her brow and listened to Sonata’s question; Sonata began to twiddle with her fingers and sighed to herself closing the door behind her. “Nevermind; have a good evening Sunset,” said Sonata, closing the door.

That was… strange… It is Sonata though. Sunset entered her home away from home; it was a small apartment room, with one bathroom, a living room that had a TV installed into the room, a kitchen equipped with a stove, a fridge, a microwave, and a number of utensils and plates. There are two rooms, one with a bed which was Sunset’s room, while the other was empty. “Sigh… What a day,” said Sunset, slumping into the ground.

Sunset lay there on the ground, leaning against the door; standing back up, she places her jacket away into the closet and walks to her room. Once entering her room, she puts her bag down and drops onto her bed, face first.

By Celestia I’m tired… At least I got the picnic plans next Sunday… which leaves… Sunset looks up and stares at her calendar. Today is Thursday which means I got three days to prepare. I wonder what I should bring… maybe I should go send a message to Twilight… I am tired though, and luckily I have no homework due… I guess sleeping early is fine…

Sunset sits on her bed and dresses up for bed; once in her pajamas she looks at the rising moon and the distant buildings and forest at the far edge of town. The view reminds Sunset of the view from Canterlot overlooking Ponyville and the Everfree Forest when she was Celestia’s apprentice.

How the days fly by… I wonder if anything interesting has popped up recently back at Equestria? Oh well, I can ask Twilight that… Better get some rest.

Sunset sleeps snugly under her sheets, slowly falling to a deep sleep; the moon’s light shining on her sleeping form. In another part of town, in a hilly part of town; Principal Celestia of CHS and her sister, vice-principal Luna sleep soundly in their home… when a door bell is heard in their front door.

“Hmmmm? Luna… go get the door...” said Celestia, placing her hand on Luna’s face.

Both sisters while having their own rooms were busy watching today’s game… and may have overslept, which resulted in Luna sleeping in Celestia’s room. Luna who shoves her sister’s hand away, wakes up and moves to the entrance of their abode; once leaving Celestia’s room, she opens the front door of their home. “Who’s there?” asked Luna, a tad grumpy.

After wiping her eyes of her sleepiness, she stares down and ahead of her to see nothing but the light of the moon and some streetlamps. Luna then notices their mailbox has something inside it; opening the mailbox inside is a single letter. A letter, this late of the day? Luna grabs the letter and reenters her home, after closing the door behind her she sees Celestia already at the bottom of the stares, clutching a small pillow.

“What is it Luna? Was anyone there?” asked Celestia, yawning.

“No sister… but apparently we may have a new student,” said Luna, having already opened the letter.

“Oh?” Celestia receives the letter from Luna and reads it herself, which states…

Dear Principal of CHS,

I am the principal of Gravity Falls High, and I have sent this letter for two reasons; my first reason is that a… “incident” has happened at Gravity Falls and the town is currently under repairs, while this is happening many of our students have been sent into different parts of the country for education reasons. I have sent one of our students to stay there until the duration of repairs; his name is Uni, a student who’s a third year from our school and one of our best ones, please do take care of him though as his mother… has passed away some years ago through unknown means and has stayed most of his childhood under the care of many of the education board of Gravity Falls. The second reason for this is to have close relations with your school as CHS has been recently been built several years ago and is freshly new; so this is a perfect as a form of student interaction from students of our institution and yours. Hoping that both parties are pleased with these changes.

Principal of Gravy Groovy Gravity Falls, Lye Fibbar

P.S. Uni has no last name; so sadly he is only called Uni, after the passing of this mother.

“Uni? Gravity Falls? Where is Gravity Falls, and how come I never heard of it?” asked Celestia.

Luna pulls out her phone and looks for a place called Gravity Falls. “Gravity Falls; it’s a town from Oregon, a population of fifty or so it says. It has a long history of weird events and mysterious surrounding it; it’s also famous tourist spot, and has one such called the Mystery Hut or something. Recently something has happened there and the town has been closed off to tourists and outsiders, until repairs are done… I don’t know Tia… are we sure we should accept this?” said Luna, afraid of the mysterious appearance of the letter.

Celestia looks down at the message of the letter, but reads the boy named Uni and his recent past. Celestia frowns but, smiles once putting away the letter in case of future use. “Don’t worry Luna; this letter seems genuine; besides… it seems we’ll be getting a new student soon. We should ask some of the students to volunteer if he could stay with them until we find a permanent place for him to stay,” said Celestia.

Luna looks down at the ground and sighs, deciding it’s futile to argue now. “Alright… Well let’s get to bed,” said Luna, walking up the stairs.

“Hold on! Your not planning in sleeping my bed now, are you?” said Celestia, following behind.

“BUT IT’S SOOOO COMFY!” said Luna, pouting.

The next day; it’s the end of the week and many of the students rush to their classes. News of a transfer student spread wild as it’s the number one thing to talk about. Students put their guesses on who it is, where their from, and most of all… Is he or she like their previous new kid; Twilight Sparkle who had to return to her original school… is what Celestia and Luna told everyone.

“Did you hear! A new kid is coming to school!”

“Really?!”

“Yeah, I heard that the new kid is from a place called Gravity Falls.”

“Gravity Falls? Never heard of it.”

Entering the school at that same time the rumors were spreading was Sunset; walking past a group of students talking about the transfer student, she reaches for her locker. Opening her locker she gets her books until she sees her friends coming down the hallway. “Girls!” shouted Sunset.

“Oh Sunset!” shouted Pinkie, running to her. As Pinkie arrived near Sunset, she stopped to a halt and began to speak in such a way, Sunset gave a confused look.

“Pinkie Pinkie! One word at a time...” said Sunset. “Now what is it that you want to tell me?”

“You didn’t hear! Well, apparently there’s some a transfer student coming to CHS from a place called-”

“Gravity Falls; weird name, right,” said Rainbow, interrupting Pinkie.

“Yeah, that place,” said Pinkie.

Gravity Falls?...It can’t be… could it? Sunset began to ponder about the news she heard, until Rarity noticed her friend’s shocked expression.

“Sunset, is there something wrong?” asked Rarity.

Sunset sighed, and began to look at her curious friends faces; deciding that it’s best to explain, Sunset leads her friends somewhere private to speak. Once all of them are in the school’s gym, they all hear Sunset’s past when she first came to this world. “When I first came here, I didn’t ended up in this exact place… I found myself in Gravity Falls… Where I met someone; back then my physique changed suddenly making me appear as a young child, possible around the age of 7,” said Sunset. “It all started one summer...”

I left my teacher Celestia, and tried my best to survive in this world; but because of my form back then and my lack of knowledge… I was like a filly in a dangerous world… then… I met him. He was a boy by the name of Uni, I assumed he was same age I was back then and we became close friends. Sadly I couldn’t stay at Gravity Falls because… well a kid like me in that world would catch a lot of attention; that was when I found a way back to Equestria and decided to hide the duration back at Equestria and return to this other world. After some years or so, when I returned… instead ending up at Gravity Falls…

“I ended up here, and so I became a student of CHS for three years since I first came to this school from grade 7 all the way to grade 9. This is my fourth year here in the tenth grade… I haven’t seen him nor received news of him since; I tried sending letters to him but… they were all returned back to me saying the address doesn’t exist! I thought that maybe…” said Sunset. Sunset sat down on the bleachers, covering her face with both palms of her hands; until she felt something on her shoulder, she looks up to find her friend Applejack.

“It’s alright; even though you haven’t seen this fella for awhile, I’m sure that you can become friends with this new guy too,” said Applejack.

“Besides, what are the chances it’ll be the same dude you met as a child,” said Rainbow.

“Well there’s the chance-” Pinkie was immediately hushed by Rarity, stopped her from ruining the moment.

“Don’t worry, were here for you,” said Fluttershy.

Sunset smiled and stood up and picked up her belongings. “Thanks girls,” said Sunset. At that same time the bell for the five minute warning for classes rung; all the girls looked at one another then the school. “Well… we better get to class. See you at lunch!”

Everyone headed to their classes; as the bell was about to ring Sunset made to her class, English. “Sunset, good you made it.” Sunset’s teacher, Miss Cheerilee began to stand up and get all her students attention. Sunset sat down as everyone else did the same too; the bell rung and school has officially began for the day. “Students, before we begin glass… the rumors of a transfer student are true, and he will be starting the day in our class. You may come in now.”

“It’s a guy?”

“I wonder what his like?”

Sunset was too curious and watched the silhouette of someone walking in… until her eyes began to shrink after recognizing who it was; the transfer student stepped forward, headed to the chalk board behind Cheerilee and wrote his name in chalk. Everyone was confused and surprised by the name… being a very short and strange name. “Sup,” said the transfer student. “Name’s Uni… nice to meet you all.”

Everyone was shocked from the transfer student’s attitude that they all thought he was kidding… but everyone continued to stare at the person called… Uni. “It’s nice for you to come to our school Uni; you can sit near...” said Cheerilee, scanning the room for empty desks. “...Sunset! Are you alright with that Sunset?”

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! “Yeah, I’m okay with that,” said Sunset, hiding her feelings. This can’t be happening, not now, not tomorrow; and especially not me of all people!

The Uni walked toward his seat toward Sunset; hearing the voices of other students as he approached Sunset each step. After seating down, is when he notices a familiar face; Uni face contorts from confusion to shock, then a mixture of embarrassment in between. You have got… to be kidding me.

A few hours before glasses begun; near the town’s train station…

“So… this is Canterlot, huh?” said Uni, talking to himself… or is he.

Ever since the incident back at Gravity Falls with the whole explosion, I’m surprised the town haven’t blown up or anything. I know things there happen a lot, but that explosion happened because of some kid called… Lipper Wines? Anyway; he was chasing some kind of horde of leprechauns and it ended up causing the newly built power plant to go haywire and go… KABOOM! Now me, and many others from Gravity Falls High been moved to different school across America… sadly I was sent to somewhere that isn’t even mentioned on the map. This… Canterlot place is pretty new; though the town is old, it’s not older than the other towns like Gravity Falls… I think they build this place… hundred? Two hundred years ago? Yeah, I think that’s the number; anyway…

The name’s Uni… just Uni nothing else… and this is my new life in CHS; Canterlot High School… This will be fun.

“Arriving at Canterlot in two minutes!” shouted the conductor.

Another day… Another adventure… Hoo boy… Uni stood up on his seat and headed to the nearest exit of the train. Once stepping onto the train station’s platform, Uni noticing two figures before him; one is of a tall woman her skin completely white, while the other woman was slightly smaller and thinner than the other woman but was equally tall too, who her skin was a dark blue. Both the women stared and stood waiting for someone… that “someone” was Uni. “You must be Uni; I am Principal Celestia and here is Vice-Principal Luna. Welcome to Canterlot; we hope your stay here is pleasant,” said Celestia.

“Uh, it’s… good to see you?” said Uni, confused.

“Come, we must head to your new school,” said Celestia. Uni was led to a vehicle that was big enough to fit four to five people depending on their size. As Celestia drove Uni and Luna to their destination, Luna explained some things toward Uni from the passenger seat.

“CHS while small compared to other schools is well known for it’s past accomplishments with a wide range of clubs and activities for the students and yourself. We hope you enjoy your time here at CHS,” said Luna. “If there’s ever anything you need, please come to either my office or Celestia’s for help.”

Approaching the entrance of the school, Celestia drops off Uni; at the same time the school bell rung beginning the start of classes. First day of school… and I’m late.

“Do not worry Uni; since this is your first day here, I’ll tell any hall monitors you were with us,” said Celestia. “Have a good day at school; remember, you can find me or Luna at our offices near the entrance of the school.” Celestia drove away to the teacher’s parking lot; Uni turned away from the slowly disappearing car and looked toward his new school… his new life.

“You think anything bad will happen?” asked Uni, talking to the air. Uni nodded his head and made a few grunts that sound like his agreeing to something… or someone. “I suppose that might happen… welp; let’s get this over with. It’s not like I’ll meet anyone I know, I am the only one they sent here.”

Present time…

“Sunset? Is that you?” said Uni, staring wide-eyed.

Everyone stared at both Uni and Sunset, the two students looking at one another; both embarrassed and wished they were somewhere else at the same time. Sunset was the first to respond as she coughed and made a few fake laughs to ease the situation. “Hey uh… Uni… It’s… it’s good to see you,” said Sunset, smiling sheepishly.

Uni at first had his jaw unhinged in a shocked expression, but slowly turned to one of pure glee. Uni instantly hugged Sunset so tightly and strongly that he lifted her off her seat, causing Sunset her face to burn a bright red. “IT IS YOU SUNNY! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOUR HERE OF ALL PLACES!” shouted Uni, his bored demeanor disappearing completely. Uni realized his own actions and let go of Sunset and began to cough into his sleeve. “I-I-I mean… it’s good to see you too Sunset… H-h-h-how yeah doing?”

“F-f-f-fine… How’s Gravity Falls?” asked Sunset.

“Oh it’s...” said Uni, trying to think of something. “...Fine… though there is an explosion I was near it when it happened-”

“YOU WERE NEAR AN EXPLOSION!”

“Whoa calm down, it’s nothing too major, I promise… Well, I was sent flying away a few miles away.”

“WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAT!”

Both Sunset and Uni began to talk to one another, either shouting or worrying over the other; at that same time Sunset’s friends were at the entrance of her class and were curious of the new kid… they were shocked to hear Sunset knew Uni. “Sunset knows the new kid!” shouted all of the Mane 6.

“I KNEW IT” shouted Pinkie, raising her finger to the air.

“I thought you said it was a girl?” said Fluttershy.

“...Well I sort of knew it,” said Pinkie. “Hehehehehhe.”
