The Child of Chaos
Ch. 5 It Followed Me Home
Previous ChapterNext ChapterUni sat in the backseat of the car of Principal Celestia, who kept her focus on the road was busily humming a song. Vice Principal Luna was distracting herself with playing on her Gameboy; the sounds of a certain electric mouse was heard from the small device. Uni stared aimless out the window, watching passing houses and pedestrians with uninterest but continued to stare at something that wasn’t there.
Celestia while still driving was still able to notice Uni’s sudden glum look. I won’t question what was the reason for him talking to nobody in the parking lot… but considering about his past… “Uni, is something wrong?” asked Celestia.
Uni was still staring outside but responded to Celestia’s question. “Just busy with some my own thoughts… A few things caught my interest in town and I wanted to go see them,” said Uni. “I was actually invited to go somewhere on Sunday.” This caused Uni to smile happily from remembering that invitation.
“Ohhhh? Really now,” said Luna, taking interest now. “This invitation wouldn’t have come from a certain student… Perhaps a red and yellow haired girl?”
Luna began to grin mischievously toward Uni, causing the poor boy to blush with an annoyed look. He continued to stare outside but simply to distract himself than anything else.
When he took a glance outside… he saw a very familiar figure… one that stood on all fours. Running on the sidewalk, following the car he was in… was Uni’s faithful companion; a black doberman as dark as midnight. WHAT IN THE HECK IS HE DOING HERE!? Uni’s face was flat against the window, causing it to fog over from his breathing.
It wasn’t only him who took notice as Luna began to turn to look at his sudden change of attitude. “Is something happening outside, Uni?” As Luna was about to turn to see, Uni began waving his hands madly to distract her.
“N-N-Nothing at all! I thought I saw something,” said Uni. If they even see “him” they’ll start get suspicious. From what I can remember, Bill didn’t mention that I own a dog.
Well we’re screwed.
Luna turned to look at Uni when a car honk was heard. Both passengers and driver took their attention facing forward when they saw a car crash has happened up ahead. A small blockage has occurred in the road that leads to where Luna and Celestia live, making the way there almost impossible to get there… almost.
“It seems our way back home might take awhile. Luna, could you walk Uni back home, I’ll take the car around back… Maybe I can buy some groceries when I come back.” Luna looked back at her sister than at the driveway, sighing in defeat.
“Alright sister. Come along Uni, we’re going take a walk,” said Luna.
Luna stepped out of the car and as Uni was following saw that the black doberman is nowhere in sight. I guess he went into hiding after our car stopped.
Dog’s smarter than he looks.
You know perfectly well “his” no ordinary “dog”.
True, but he ain’t no ordinary “animal” either.
Uni stepped out of the vehicle and watched as Celestia drove off. Luna then tapped him on the shoulder, leading him to their destination. “Follow me Uni; we’ll head to my sister and I’s abode… While it is awkward for a student to be staying in a school staff’s home, we were specifically told to watch and give you any necessities from the letter sent by your principal, back at Gravity Falls.”
“Huh? Oh, yeah… that letter...” Uni was distracted, watching the other sidewalk for any signs of his animal companion. Okay Bill… Talk…
Talk about wha Uni-boy?
For starters… WHY IN THE FAIRY DUST IS OBSIDIAN HERE!
Well for starters, its not my problem if your pet misses you and comes all the way here to see you! If you wanna blame someone Uni… then blame yourself.
BUT I TOLD YOU THAT IF YOU NOTICED ANYTHING UNUSUAL, YOU WILL TELL ME! THAT INCLUDES OBSIDIAN AS WELL YOU SONNA OF-
WHHHOOOAAA! No need for that attitude… I’ll tell you what I learned another time, focus where you walk… Also Luna wants to talk to you.
“Huh?” said Uni, speaking out his own thought.
“Do not ‘Huh’ me; I asked if was alright as your first day of school?” Uni looked up and realized they left the bricked buildings and now walking through somewhat large and costly homes.
“Wait? When did we get here so quickly?”
“Well, a lot happens when you focus on other things. The same is said when your doing a test… or playing a 10-hour non-stop raid.”
Uni gave a raised brow for that last example. “Uhh, riiight. Anyway… we near the place you two live VP?” asked Uni, busy focusing his attention elsewhere, again.
“We are close; a few turns and we should be arriving at our home soon. Also, you may simply call me Luna, Uni; I may be your Vice-Principal, but having you refer to me like that constantly isn’t necessary.”
Uni nodded automatically, until he heard some shuffling… and the sounds of some trash bins tumbling to the side. Uni and Luna turned to the source of the sound only to find a trash bin on its side.
“This neighborhood wouldn’t have animals… Would it?”
“None I know of, but we should head home… it is getting dark soon. Come along Uni,” said Luna.
After the two took some turns, arriving before Luna and Celestia’s home… It wasn’t what Uni expected it to be. The house looked like a castle – not the size of course; it had marble pillars with intricate carvings that held a balcony above the front porch. Golden tinted windows were located on the first floor while the second and third floors held silvery-looking windows with an earthy-like border. The roof looked similar to something like a roman villa, where the color was similar to the reddish tones in a sunset and sunrise.
All in all, the house looked like it was made to be built in some ancient Greek or Roman times… with one exception. To the side was a garage built in the side of the house, and a pathway hat led to a backyard. Flowers planted around the house and pathway gave it a lovely look. All in all, everything from the house, the garage, and the pathway all look extremely expensive… especially for school staff workers.
Luna turned to look at Uni’s shocked expression and gave a smirk. “I know what your thinking, ‘How in the world do you buy such an expensive house?’. Well you see, similar to your school, we’re the only school until the nearest city. There is of course another school but if I remember correctly, its a private school, so majority of students come to our school. For that reason alone, the school board in charge of the schools around this region mostly give a good quantity of their funds here and the other school, and with festivals, many of the local population’s money is used for our school projects and such. In other words, having a job here is pretty beneficial; there are of course drawbacks for living in small towns such as ours.”
“I know the feeling...” said Uni, thoughtlessly.
Luna approached the front door, and from her pocket she pulled out a set of keys. Finding the correct one, she opened the door and led Uni inside. The first thing Uni saw was a spiral staircase centered in the middle of the foyer. To the left and right were two archways that led to more rooms, with two set of double doors behind the spiral staircase. The front entrance had a simple jacket closet for shoes and jackets; a carpet was placed at the front that says, “Home Sweet Home”.
“For a place that’s this big, its pretty… homely.” The house-like mansion while big, was decorated with many pots and plants and some small trinkets here and there. The sunroof placed in the center of the room gave off colored light – a mix of red, orange, yellow, and light blue.
“Indeed; we just recently bought this house a few years ago… Originally, my sister and I were teachers seven years ago before we were promoted as the school’s principal and vice-principal. Back then, the school was a mess and we tried our best to put to shape once we came into control – new school supplies, lockers, clubs and activities, and more school events. To say the least, we got the help of the townsfolk with these projects and as a thank you, they gave a large donation of money to us… While it was generous of them, we were near broke; before we lived in an apartment with one bed… A very small might I add.”
It was generous for the people of this town to help us… While we never gained the respect from our school-board, we did gain the respect and help from the people of this small town… I guess it was right for my sister and I to leave the city.
“You okay Miss Luna?” Luna was apparently crying and wiped a tear away as quickly she could.
“Yes… I am alright… Again Uni, you can simply call me Luna; no need for the pleasantries, I’m not royalty or anything.”
“R-Right… sorry… again...”
“Please Uni, you are starting to sound like dear Fluttershy. While it is polite of you, I believe to be more yourself is called for all our students.”
“Oh… s-sure. I mean; alright Luna,” said Uni, smirking back.
“Much better! Come, I’ll show you around the house.” Luna led Uni to the left archway and have entered the house’s kitchen. The kitchen was equipped with a top-of-the-line fridge, stove, and other technological devices found in a kitchen. The microwave was installed above the stove, there were also a toaster, a blender with different options on it, numerous different of utensils and plates to be used. In the corner of the room was a circular windowed room with a table in the center and two chairs placed opposite of each other. Oddly enough the chairs were both different while being the same kind – one had a yellowed tinge to it and had a fluffy pillow placed on the seat; the other was intentionally painted a mix of dark blue as the night sky and white dots representing stars, and had a strange pocket-bag object placed in the back with different items in each pocket.
Uni stared at the strange seat and glanced at Luna with a look between confusion and slight amusement. Luna noticed this and gave Uni a quick stare before looking away and pouting. “I need certain ‘necessaties’ when I’m eating you know...”
“Whatever you say ‘princess’…” Uni instantly regretted what he said but was too slow to respond.
“‘Princess? Well that’s a new one; so it seems your personality is a lot like Rainbow Dash’s, one of Sunset’s close friends. I believe she’s the lead captain of all sport clubs and activities… though she mostly plays the sport soccer from what I hear. She is truly active on most days, but I hear she has other hobbies to improve her other skills; right now she’s joined the book club and has brought her own ideas for stories.”
“O-O-Oh-Oh… really? Well… that’s good I guess… How’s she-”
“She is improving,” said Luna, instantly. “While she does have… some things to be fixed, many of the members are supporting her choice of… genre and idea. I am sure she may become a great author; especially one like her if she can both keep herself healthy with exercise and find a good time to read a good book or two. Celestia has even recommended a few books, and while some aren’t here interest, so far she truly likes the one titled… ‘Brush Drake’?”
“Good good… Wait? She has a personality similar to mine?”
“Indeed; you and her while loyal to your friends – considering to this day your still friends with Sunset – have a somewhat… teasing personality, and are a bit tactless when talking about certain subjects – again, Sunset. Though… there is one clear difference, and it is that yo-”
Luna stopped when she nearly reminded Uni of his past. Luna what were you thinking; the poor boy hasn’t been here for a day and already you nearly wanted to talk to him about his past life!
“What’s the difference?” asked Uni, genuinely curious.
Luna gulped and began to sweat when she began to think of something else to say. “W-Well… you… you two… a-a-are…” Then Luna gotten an idea, and with that coughed and looked back with confidence. “For starters, I am sure Miss Dash doesn’t talk to herself, especially that angrily.” Luna gave a sly look and grinned.
Uni blushed a little but began to cough. “How about we continue the tour?”
Uni walked away and left the kitchen, followed by Luna when he entered a truly large… room? If it could be considered a room. It was three maybe four times larger than the kitchen, and yet every spot was filled to the brim; each wall was stacked with shelves and within those shelves were books. It felt like a mini library… it pretty much was a mini-library. Certain sections were listed off – Science, Math, History, English, Health, Music, Home Economics, Technology, Art, Drama, Construction, and Language. Heck, there was even a section for comics and manga – there was a strange plaque below the listed sign that said, “Please return said books to correct order… I AM TALKING ABOUT YOU – LUNA!”
There was also a sizable office-like table with a comfy arm-chair made of a soft material with an earthy green color. The table had a lamppost, some pencils and pens, four drawers with one holding different kinds of papers ranging from lined to printer paper. One drawing holding more supplies, and the other two holding files – while they were locked, they both had a tiny golden plaque that said “Files 1 & Files 2” on them.
The only window was behind the desk and was the size of nearly the entire walls of the room; it was currently closed with deep red curtains which can be opened with long dirty gold ropes.
Uni was currently having a lot of things going through his mind… but this was probably one of the biggest questions he had to ask… and he could of said it any way… but instead said in the most simplest, yet confused manner he could possibly be able to do said action.
“Just… Why?” asked Uni, spreading both arms pointed toward… everything.
“I did hinted that Celestia gave Rainbow a few books to try and read; she’s a huge bookworm… Well being the Principal of a school, you gotta be knowledgeable about things… Though she started gaining a strong fascination with comics and this… Mon-ga?”
“I think your saying it wrong; I believe its pronounced, Mang-gah.”
“Well, either way… While I do watch some anime and read the manga only so I can catch up for said anime… Her love for it is… more stronger; similar to that of me with video games.”
Uni came to a strong realization and with a look that just screamed of zero cares – or fucks in this case. Grrreeeaaat; the Principal is a bloody Manga-reader, and the Vice-Principal is a Gamer-freak… And I’m living with both of them.
Don’t forget that their damn bloody, sexy, fucking, hoooooaaaaahhhhtttt!
...I hate you Bill…
I try my best.
The sheer collection of books ranged to most being for educational reasons, some for a simple read, while others held… other purposes. Uni noticed one certain shelf that was left alone in its own corner and held ancient, aged books. Reaching for one book caused a sudden ache on his outstretched hand… Luna smacked his hand. “YOWCH! WHAT WAS THAT FOR!?”
“I’m very sorry Uni, but those books aren’t to be touched… They are somewhat of a pet project of my sister’s and while I do not bother her about her hobbies – often – this one in particular she’s been working on for nearly fifteen years… She has been… ‘researching’ something for a long time and has dedicated her free-time to this project, so I would happily please ask of you to not, I repeat. NOT! Touch any items from that shelf...”
Uni rubbed his hand and glanced at the shelf. While curiosity grew in his mind he sighed and accepted this rule… for now. “Okay; I’ll try not to bother your sister’s hobbies.”
“Thank you… Now, let us head to our next destination; the living/family room!” said Luna, excitement in her voice.
It made Uni confused with why Luna was suddenly happy, but when he entered the room… He understood why; to some extent. The room had two couches and a single armchair with comfortable pillows placed on specific parts of the couch. An alcove was made which held some potted plants; the smell of fresh flowers was in the air. Another interesting fact was… their TV. Nothing was odd about it being a simple TV for someone with their yearly income, but what was strange was something else. Inside some see-through drawers were…
“Consoles?” said Uni, more in confusion than a question.
“Since Celestia does not wish to have my consoles kept in my room; accept for my laptop, and my first classic console. All them were kept here, and I made the TV stand myself to improve gaming proficiency and all. The see-through drawers don’t work like normal drawers where instead you open them like a mail slot, so you can simply turn the device on and place a game in. Of course you can open them too like drawers if I needed to check my consoles for repairs or such. There is of course drawers for games – categorized in consoles, genres, age rating, and release date. Here I keep all my Minbende games, and my Z-Case games are held here, while my EntertainmentSpot games are here. I also have some classic old YEGA games too.”
Luna was busy drowning herself in her own knowledge of games that Uni was distracted by something else. The sound of something scratching against glass could be heard; a simple turn and he saw a very familiar face. OBSIDIAN!
The black doberman was trying to get Uni’s attention by pawing the window of one of the alcoves with no plants on it. The dog while unable to smile had a happy aura about it, that appeared the second Uni spotted him. It began to yip happily but at that same time, Luna turned to look at Uni until she noticed him looking at something.
“Dear Uni? Is something the matt-” Luna spotted Obsidian, and while Uni’s heart was bursting out of its chest, Bill had one thought – or word for him – to say about this new situation.
Run.
At that the same time; after Sunset have spoken with her friends about how to find out where Uni lives. Sunset returns to her home after saying good night to her friends, and the second she approaches the front of the apartment… she sees some sort of commotion happening. What’s happening?
Getting closer she sees a small crowd and, an ambulance. Near the entrance of the apartment she can recognize the landlord of the building; Bright Vocals. The young looking man, while mostly handling the paperwork part of the building while his grandfather leads all the employees and any new occupants staying.
As Sunset approached the crowd, she realized the crowd consisted mostly of random bystanders who don’t live in the apartment and a few of the more… troublesome occupants. A few of these occupants is an old lady who should be staying in an old retirement home but says she can afford something that costly… even though its for free. The other occupant is a middle-aged man, who keeps complaining his room is in disrepair and needs proper maintenance, even though he was given multiple notices that every room in that floor is having problems for six months; way before he came living here. Then finally… there’s “him” or in specifically, “him and his group”; ever since the Mane Event, an outside musical group has become jealous of Sunset and her friends… even though the contest was simply a fun way for the students to express their musical talents and for competitive challenge. This musical group has caused several problems to Sunset and her friends, and a few problems to the school itself. Luckily they are on a final warning any more harassment of any kind would mean a sue so large that they’d be in-debt for nearly a quarter of their lives… or worse, banned from making any public music appearances… ever.
This musical group so far haven’t done anything for this warning to happen, but their leader – while not causing any problem himself – still finds way to make Sunset’s life as if it were Tartarus. Their leader would cause the apartment’s staff problems, which of course effects Sunset in some way. He would also take any chance to aggravate Sunset but also looking like it was a simple coincidence… but the worse of all of this… was that he was the reason why the elevators are always “Out of Order”. You see… every time the elevator does work, he somehow caused the elevator to stop working; usually by reporting something is wrong with the elevator. Sometimes when this happens nothing is actually wrong with the elevator so it was a waste of time for everyone. Though, other times it does have a problem, but either way, it causes the elevator to be stopped and checked for any problems… safety all that.
That same man was currently standing so close to Bright, he was literally invading his personal space… it made Sunset wished she came her demonic-like powers… so she could fry his- No no… We promised not to try any… attempts of causing harm to others… Even if they deserve it… If I can forgive the Sirens, I can forgive him too. That was until the rocker began to step on poor Bright’s foot… intentionally. Nevermind, his a jackass.
“OH! BRIGHTY; WHY’S THE BLOODY AMBULANCE HERE! SOMETHING BETTER NOT HAD HAPPENED!?” shouted the rocker, in which his actual name shall not be spoken.
“Please, there is nothing to worry. One of our occupants here was found injured; it is however nothing serious so please return to your rooms. And I must ask everyone who doesn’t stay here or have family staying here to leave; there is no need for everyone to crowd here,” said Bright, his passive talk coming up.
“No need to worry! A bloody girl with her two friends came by here, limping, from what they say was an assault! And you say there’s nothing to worry!?” shouted the old lady, waving her cane around.
“Again, this happened hours ago, and they saw they were attacked by something… Well they won’t say what they were attacked by but their fine and-” Bright was stopped when the middle-aged man grabbed by the collar of his shirt and hefted him up.
“Now you listen you little pipsqueak; whether some bunch of girls get hurt because they wandered in the wrong part of town, ain’t my business. However, the alarm was activated and I was forced to leave my home with everyone else! SO YOU BETTER EXPLAIN THAT, YOU LITTLE SHIT!”
“Sir please, one of our newer employees overreacted when she saw the girls and pulled the alarm. She has only been here for two days and her training wasn’t complete. You must understand-”
“Oh I understand; I understand that you can’t properly prepare your own workers for a simple situation when some random person walks in bleeding and instead of calling ambulance first, they go pull the alarm, forcing everyone to come down to the foyer and see a girl bleeding from her ears. That is the first thing I never wanted to see in the evening; especially when I was in the middle of an ‘important’ call!”
“I’m sorry sir I-”
“FUCK YOUR SORRYS! I MISSED A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO GET OUT OF THIS SHITE OF AN APARTMENT AND AN EVEN SHITTY OF A TOWN; YOU PIECE OF CRAP!” The man was about to knock Bright into next Tuesday when the man felt an arm around the hand holding Bright. “Who in the bloody-”
Before this was answered, Silent Whisper pulled back his other arm and gave the man a good kisser to his mouth. The man stumbled and dropped poor Bright as he shook from the sudden physical contact; Sunset did not hesitate and moved to Bright’s side to help him up. “Are you alright Bright?” asked Sunset.
“I-I-I-I-I… T-Th-Tho-Thi-nk I n-e-ne-neh-need to go t-t-t-to-to b-be-bbb-bed,” said Bright, frightened beyond belief.
Sunset looked at the quiet but furious Silent Whisper; while the old man didn’t look much, one time when Sunset’s first weeks here, a man was giving her a very lustful look that Sunset was oblivious of. One day when the same man was at the foyer, he attempted to make a move on Sunset when Silent slowly crept behind him, stalking him just as he done to Sunset… except when he neared Sunset; he grabbed him by the shoulder, and pulled him by the ear and whispered, “Boy, do you know what they do to people like you to prison? They give the same thing, that you were going to give to that young lass… You better scram and leave this town, before your ass is mine.”
On that day, that man never came back, but Silent wasn’t done as he did indeed call the cops on him and he’s currently in prison… However, since his crime wasn’t clear and that he was sent to jail for suspicious activity for half a year… That of course can change if Silent were to quote-on-quote, speak of the incident. Sunset didn’t know of this until later and was out right confused since… well she was a being from another world and such actions are unheard of in Equestria. So when Silent was outright surprised she didn’t know what the man’s attentions were, and told her… Well let’s say Sunset started to cry and nearly had a panic attack for a week; she was relieved to stay home but decided to stay where Bright and Whisper live… it became awkward for Whisper since Bright had to watch the apartment… So he was left with an unstable teenager girl who was told she was this close to becoming a “predator’s” prey – Sunset found the analogy funny, while not understanding its true meaning – it became more awkward by the fact that Sunset would end up sleeping by leaning against Whisper’s shoulder… it reminded Whisper of being a father-figure again… he of course never said that to Sunset or Bright for if he did he’d punch the closest person to him – of course not Sunset, and if it were Bright he’d hold him in a head-lock.
Nevertheless; one lesson Sunset learned about Whisper… is that you don’t mess with people he considered family… and Bright and Sunset were the closest few to family he had considered other relatives lived afar or were busy with their own lives. There was of course others like the employees and some of the nicer occupants, but Bright and Sunset were as close as a real family; whether blood-related or not.
The man stood up – well more like stagger – as he tried to look intimidating toward Silent… until the police arrived. “Alright alright, everyone please leave. Anyone who stays here must return to their rooms. Move along move along!” shouted one of the police.
The middle-aged man glared angrily but obliged as he left with the other occupants. Silent’s body slackened as he helped his nephew up with the assistance of Sunset. The police approached Bright, Silent, and Sunset, ready to question the situation.
“As to what the previous incident was all about, we can handle later… So; what happened to the three girls… Also, who might this be?”
“She’s an occupant of the apartment… she is actually a neighbor to the three victims… A family friend,” said Bright, standing up straight.
“Wait! Neighbor? YOU MEAN THE SIRENS!”
“The who?” said everyone present.
“Its their band name at our school. Anyway, did something happen to them, are they alright! Ihopethey’refine,pleasetellmethey’refine,ohmyCelestiathey’renotfine,they’rehurtaren’tthey-” Sunset was silenced by a firm pat to the head as Silent ruffled her hair. Sunset, while finding it a bit rude, found it pleasing too.
“Well… They’re near the ambulance car around the corner; since you know them you can see if their alright,” said the officer. Sunset nodded in thanks and left immediately; turning to the corner she spotted the Sirens.
While Adagio and Aria’s injuries weren’t that serious, Sonata was the only one in a stretcher. Sunset skidded to a halt and reached toward Sonata. “Sonata, girls! What happened!?”
Sonata opened her eyes and stared at Sunset, where she did spoke – loudly. “Whaaaattt?” asked Sonata, her voice weak.
Sunset tilted her head and looked at the others as why Sonata can’t hear her properly. “Sonata’s hearing got shot, but the paramedics said she’ll be find for a day or two...”
“That’s good, but what happened?”
“We… we were attacked… by a floating triangle,” said Aria, embarassed.
Sunset was the one now confused and she stared with utmost frustration whether Aria was being sarcastic… or serious. “A floating… triangle?”
“Whatever you hear from us, we’re telling the truth and what attacked us isn’t from this world or from Equestria… It was something entirely different; it was capable of changing the reality of the world, but its abilities seemed to be… weakened or something… Like someone was holding it back.”
A floating triangle that’s working for someone? This is worse than I thought… I need to tell Twilight, quickly. “Are you girls going to go to the hospital?”
“No; we’re going stay here but we can’t leave for a week. Luckily, that old guy and his nephew would bring us food. We had to tell our boss what happened, we were lucky that we didn’t get fired from hearing that we got quote-on-quote, mugged.”
“That’s good; well I need to get to my room… I need to send a very important letter.” Sunset ran off saying goodbye and be safe, as she rushed to her apartment room to find her journal, and send an emergency letter to Princess Twilight… things are about to get worse from here on out.
