A Lief Of Depressions

“Well, I think I honestly deserved it…”

“But, no, you did not.”

“But…”

Trixie and Starlight approached the Evergreen Forest. Starlight groaned. “Of course, the Evergreen Forest, of all places.”

Trixie did the same. “Timberwolves, hydras, oh boy. This is gonna be fun.”

Both of them continued on into the Evergreen Forest, unaware of the future plan that Nano and Buttermoon were-- more Nano, were unfolding.

“Huh. Awfully quiet today. By now you’d hear some cliche ruffling in the bushes or--”

The bushes ahead ruffled.

Starlight and Trixie stopped moving. “Uh… Think there’s a way around the forest?” squeaked Starlight.

“Oh, don’t be a sissy. It’s probably a rabbit or something.” Trixie went over to the bush and ruffled it. Nothing happened.

“See? Just some wind or fast animal. C’mon, let’s get moving.” Starlight sighed and walked off with Trixie.

A changeling wearing a dark green scarf came out from the top of a tree with binoculars around his neck. “Dios mio, that was close.”

“So, let me get this clear: We’re going to set off an invasion of otherwordly creatures to ruin this place because…?”

“Oh, Buttermoon, my motivation is quite simple: You know how our world is starving for resources and such?” Questioned Nano.

“Oh, yeah, looks like modern-day France over there. Garbage all over the street.”

“Yes. And, well, we’ll have to suck this one dry…” Nano grabbed a large looking button from a trunk, “Using this.”

Buttermoon stared at the button. “What’s it do?”

“Oh, it just opens the same portal we came through, except now there’s invaders on the other side.” Nano looked blankly at the button. “They’ll suck up all of this world’s resources. They’re kinda frickin’ strong, too.”

Buttermoon was a little disgusted. “What about all the other ponies?”

“They’ll most likely be forced to survive in some post-apocalyptic survival wasteland.”

“Nano, I’m not sure that this is the best way to do--”

Nano and Buttermoon’s conversation was interrupted when six other mares suddenly appeared from nowhere on a high rocky hill near them.

“Hand over the device there and no one gets hurt.” said a determined looking sky blue pegasus.

“What she said.” said a purple pony who was a weird mix between a pegasus and unicorn.

“Hurt us and we press the button. Do nothing and we press the button. Sorry, but I need to do what’s best for my peop--”

A loud mighty magic blast hit Nano and electrocuted him. “Wow, these guys mean no shamrock.” he quivered.

The sky blue pegasus came diving in towards the button. Buttermoon, sighing and doing what was loyal, jumped and kicked the pegasus out of the air, sending her flying towards a tree and having her crash promptly. He then looked at the button, it was gone from it’s place. He looked at Nano, who had already pressed the button.

“NANO!”

“It’s... for the best.” Groaned Nano.

Suddenly, the sky started turning grey. The wind started to growl at an alarming degree, several plants became unrooted as they floated towards a gargantuan freakin’ blue portal-orb in the sky, the same that Nano and Buttermoon had come out of, only bigger. It started becoming stronger, animals big and small started sailing away from the land’s surface. Soon, a giant circle of nature, inanimate objects, and animals alike were sailing around in a giant circle encompassing a giant blue orb.

A yellow pegasus with a pink mane covered her mouth. “Oh, Celestia.” she muttered under her breath.

Starlight and Trixie entered a clearing and noticed a humongous glowing blue orb in the sky that was composed of all sorts of objects traveling around it.

“What the list of assorted reptiles is going on up there?” asked Starlight as Trixie stared in disbelief.

“That other pony we encountered in Ponyville…he’s gotta be joined by someone-- or pony, else.”

Both of them stared in blatant horror as a mothership that so huge it couldn’t be described came out of the blue orb. It was armed with artillery cannons, bombs, state-of-the-art magic and bomb protection, and so, so much more. Then, the blue orb began to move faster, starting to suck in all the objects it had taken from the land, and then, blew up.

A blinding white flash of light completely covered the area as it began to get deafeningly loud.

“Trixie!”

“Starlight!”

And then, nothing.
