Chapter One: Senior Year Starts
Twilight stepped into her high school, Westerville. The unicorn let out a sigh to try and relieve herself of stress. “Common, Twi. You got this just walk in and it’ll be better.” she muttered to herself. “One…” she began counting to herself. “Two…. and!” Before reaching three a colt rushed in past her pushing her to her side.
“Ow!” Twilight shouted, she fell backward onto the ground. “Hey! You pushed me!” Twilight shouted at the colt.
The colt turned and faced her. “Shut it nerd! Don’t be in my way!” He grunted as he continued. Twilight stood back up, using her magic to pick up her books and placed them back into her bag.
The unicorn rolled her eyes as she stepped inside the school. Her head turned side to side, everyone was so different. She pulled out an empty scroll from her bag, pulling a quilt she let out a huff. Stress filled her veins once again. ‘Dear Future Twilight, today is the first day back to school. I kinda wish I wasn’t here. Everyone around me is just so- different now… I mean- fillies and colts change over time but… damn.’ Twilight paused as she passed by other ponies who were talking, fighting, kissing, etc. ‘They are just- so immature. I mean yeah we’re teenagers but man. This is kinda disgusting!’
A group of students were down the hallway. They were screaming and shouting at each other. Twilight walked around them, she heard their conversations. They were screaming slurs at one and another.
She continued writing on the scroll. ‘We were so nice when it was just elementary school. Any and all disputes were done by lunch. How come things can’t be the same. Sometimes I wish someone would put these kids in their place.’ Since it was her first day at school she had no classes. Just find all the places you must go, sign up for clubs or something and then go eat lunch, go to homeroom to meet everyone and then go home. Normal day.
‘But eventually I’ll graduate the top of my classes! I’ll leave them dump and head straight up to canterlot for a higher education. Crystal Prep, Saint Pegasus of Canterlot, or just Canterlot School of the Gifted. A letter of acceptance from any one of them is perfect.’ Twilight noticed a stallion push a hipster looking colt into a locker.
“Agh!” the colt shouted from the impact and pain.
Twilight rushed over fast, she put out a hoof to help him up. “Are you okay?” she asked worried seeing a bruise form on the colts foreleg.
The colt looked up at Twilight in disgust. “Ugh, get away dork!” he said before standing up and shoving Twilight away.
She rolled her eyes, glancing at the clock, it was nearly lunch. Twilight walked toward the cafeteria to grab a meal to eat before she was left with garbage. She documented things on her way. ‘Just saw some hipsters ridicule this emo girl. This place disgusts me, when I’m gone everything will be better. I believe this place could change, maybe for the best but it’s extremely unlikely.’ she scribbled down.
Her horn lit up, picking up the tray she stepped into line with all the students. Getting a container filled with hay and a bottle of water she glanced around for a seat. She heard some footsteps from behind her. She stepped to the side. The pony behind her didn’t avoid her, it was Soarin. Soarin placed his hoof beneath her tray before flipping it out of the air. Twilight’s magic didn’t catch it in time. Lucky nothing spilled but her containers stumbled to the floor.
Twilight grunted at the sight of Soarin. “Soarin.” Twilight said blandly, she looked at him from head to hoof. “Third year as the flying team’s commander, and like what, holds the world’s record for smacking trays out of the air or hooves and being a huge prick?” She muttered to herself as she rolled her eyes.
Soarin over heard her mutters. He glared at her. “Excuse me? Did this skank say something?”
Twilight stumbled backward. “Uh- nothing!” she said as she went to pick up her stuff. Before she could a soft yellow coated hoof picked up her water bottle.
The purple unicorn looked up to see her best friend Fluttershy. “Uhm, h-hey Twilight… I saw what happened and I feel bad I wish I could have helped out…” Fluttershy said gently. Fluttershy handed Twilight her water bottle. “Are we going to spend time together this weekend? I got tickets to see the play of ‘Mares of Fantasy’ I can’t wait to see it again!” Fluttershy said joyfully as she clapped her hooves together.
Twi let out a dork snort of a laugh. “Of course, haven’t you seen it like eighty times? Just go and audition for it.” Twilight teased Fluttershy lightly. “I think you’d look good in a dress.”
Fluttershy shook her head, “Oh no, no. I just love seeing the ending, everything ends up so lovely. I wish the real world was like that…”
“Flutter-CRY! Rain storm in coming!” a orange pegasus shouted before slamming his body into Fluttershy, causing her to stumble out of the air. Her notes and books became cluttered on the floor. The gentle pegasus became teary eyed. “Ahaha!” The colt laughed.
Twilight gritted her teeth. “Flash Sentry, the possibly the world’s most idiotic person ever. He’s yet he is the smaaartest guy on the flying team. Ironic right.” she walked in front of Fluttershy’s valuables. Flash was about to turn around before Twilight tapped him on the shoulder “Hey! Jerk-wad! Pick up her stuff!” Twilight demanded.
Flash glanced at her. “Uh- are you talking to me?” He responded looking uninterested.
“Yeah! I’m speaking to you! You have no right to be so rude to her. She’s my friend and she has done nothing wrong, so pick up her stuff!” Twilight looked directly at Flash.
The bully just smiled. “You have no friends.” He pushed her away. Nearby students chuckled.
Flash walked off with Soarin, before high hoofing. Twilight picked up Fluttershy’s papers, neatly stacking them and placing them into her book. She noticed students weren’t laughing anymore, they’ve gone silent.
Twilight nudged Fluttershy, “Is it them?” Twilight asked.
Fluttershy nodded silently. Twilight let out a sigh, she grabbed the scroll she was writing on. ‘Just ate lunch- correction. I went to lunch, got my meal smacked out of the air by that prick Soarin. Anyways, I doubt I’ve written about these girls before. I normally avoid them. They are the ‘Princesses’ it’s a dumb name I know.’ Twilight squeezed through the crowd to get a glance of them. ‘Everyone here respects the ‘Princesses’ the first one is Princess Cadence. The girl loves, love. She’ll date a guy for a week, her father runs a crystal making factory. So she is loaded with all the bits. Then there is Princess Luna, she’s the middle Princess, always wanting more in life, she got her hair messed with when she was like fourteen.’ Twilight glanced up to see the last princess.
Students muttering among themselves, praising her. ‘Lastly, Princess Celestia. She is a sun goddess. Mythical, magical, and powerful. She has all of these people around her hooves. Soarin and Flash only listen to her. Everyone bows down to them, not one of them gets bullied. I’d love to be treated with that respect…’ Twilight placed her scroll into her bag, and trotted off to the restroom.
Washing her hooves the Princesses entered. They ignored her as the bell rang. Luna went off to one of the stalls and started vomiting. Celestia groaned and rolled her eyes. “Ugh, Luna that’s disgusting. I warned you about eating this trash.”
Cadence held Luna’s hair back as she continued to vomit. “I think you should go see the nurse, Luna. I don’t want you to get sick. I’m worried about you girl!” Cadence said in a concerned tone.
“You’re right, maybe I should.” Luna said before vomiting again.
Another pony walked into the restroom. It was the school’s counselor Ms. Cheerilee. “Ah. Well I see we have Celestia.” Ms. Cheerilee said unamused. A cough then followed by vomit was heard from a stall. “As well as Luna.”
“I’m here too!” Cadence said as she waved at Ms. Cheerilee.
The teacher sighed, “And Cadence then. I’m worried you fillies didn’t hear the bell over the sound of Princess Luna’s vomits. I don’t see hallpasses. You all will meet me after school for the rest of the week.” Cheerilee said as she was about to leave. Twilight placed a slip of paper in front of her.
“Actually- we all have excuses. We’re a part of the photography club, they have a meeting, and we got hallpasses as well!” Twilight lied through her teeth. It was a convincing lie though.
Cheerilee smiled slightly. “Oh, well then it’s good to see that you have passes. Finish up and get to where you gotta be then. Thank you, girls.”
When Cheerilee was gone and out of ear’s range Celestia walked over to Twilight. Snatching the slip of paper from her with magic. “This is a fake, but it’s a excellent fake. Who are you girly?” Celestia asked sternly.
Twilight stumbled over her words. “Oh- I uh- I’m Twilight Sparkle. I want to ask a favor of you all if it isn’t too much to ask.” Twilight stood straight. In her head, she thought it’d make her look serious.
“Go on then, little filly.” Celestia said.
“I want to sit with you at lunch, just for once. Then I’ll be gone, if the others think that I’m in good graces with you all then I’ll be respected and I won’t be troubled.” Twilight explained. “Before you say anything, I can write fake notes for report cards, absents notes, permission slips, really anything as long as I’ve seen the handwriting or know how it looks.”
Celestia took a good long look at Twilight. “Hmm. You’re actually decent looking for a nerd. If we remove these glasses, maybe fix up your mane and get you a new bag you’d be looking fine.” Celestia smirked. “Yes, yes! This is good.”
Cadence took a look at Twilight. “Oh! Give her some slight curls on the side, she’d look hot!” Cadence smiled.
Then, Luna looked at Twilight and nodded. “If she could lose some weight she’d be a major babe. I got some leftovers from lunch if you wanna start losing pounds now.” Luna said in a unimpressed tone.
The Princesses grabbed Twilight and started adjusting the way she looked.
Soon, the bell rang and it was time for everyone to get ready and go home. The students saw the Princesses make their way down the hallway. All the chatter stopped. “Who’s that with the princesses?” a voice in the crowd asked.
Princess Luna walked past everyone, her dark starry night mane flowed. “Introducing the newest piece of art!” Luna said in an overpowering voice.
Then, Princess Cadence trotted down the hallway with a big smile. “From geek to goddess.” The pink coated alicorn smiled.
Finally, Princess Celestia walked down, using her wings to cover their new ‘friend’ from the crowd. “Please stomp your hooves for my newest student.”
Celestia lowered her wings and revealed Twilight. Fluttershy’s eyes widened. “Twilight?!” She said loud. The yellow pegasus looked surprised and felt a bit betrayed.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you all, I am ‘Princess’ Twilight.” Twilight smiled, her hair was fancy. New bag, and she lost the glasses.
“She’s a total babe!” Soarin said to Flash.
“She’s so good looking!” A hipster whispered to a friend of theirs.
“Twilight is such a good name!” A freshmen said from within the crowd.
Twilight walked through the crowed with the Princesses, feeling like a hot piece of hell. Twilight stuck close to Celestia with a big grin. She felt like she was light as a feather. She felt beautiful. What a beautiful first day of school.
