Twilight Sparkle was resting in her house after buying some books. While she was resting she saw Rarity entering her house. She smiled and spoke to her good friend who she liked.
"Hello Rarity. What do you need?" She asked. Rarity looked at her and sat down across from her. She then spoke to Twilight.
"I need to tell you something but I'm not sure how to say it." Rarity said as she nervously rubbed her hooves against each other. Twilight shrugged. She waited for Rarity. Rarity took a deep breath as she thought her confession through. She was scared at how Twilight would react.
She was hyperventilating. Twilight gave her a look of concern as she hated to see her friend in such distress.
"Just say it Rarity." Twilight urged. Rarity hesitated. She was so nervous as to what her friend might think. What if her friend hated her her. Rarity started to sweat. She had no idea how to say what she wanted to tell Twilight. She was nervous. Her heart was beating uncontrollably.
"Twilight I'm gay. I like mares!" Rarity confessed. Twilight blinked and pursed her lip. Rarity wanted to know what Twilight was thinking she needed to know what her friend would say. She was scared at the thought of be rejected. Her heart was pounding. Soon Twilight spoke.
"Uh....what do you mean you like mares?" Twilight asked as she was confused. Rarity was becoming even more scared. It sounded like Twilight was ignorant of other sexual orientations. Rarity felt frightened.
"It means I'm sexually attracted to mares. Please don't hate me." Rarity begged. Tears entered Rarity's eyes.
"Are you sure your gay...mares are supposed to like stallions and stallions are supposed to like mares. That's the way it's always been but...your gay..." Twilight said as she was confused.
"Yes I'm sure I'm gay! This is how I've always been Twilight! I can't help it!" Rarity cried. Twilight frowned.
"That's just weird...does that mean you want to have sex with me now? Because...I'm not gay so I hope your not going to come on to me..." Twilight said. Rarity was crying as she couldn't believe Twilight was ignorant.
"I'm not! I can't believe you would think that I'm a freak! I'm not a freak Twilight." Rarity cried. Twilight was quiet as she was in deep thought about Rarity.
"That's so weird. It's strange you like the same gender. I wonder what your parents think." Twilight remarked. Rarity was sobbing she was to upset at Twilights comments.
"I'm not strange!" Rarity cried. Twilight raised an eyebrow. She shook her head and spoke once again.
"Rarity being gay is wrong you of all ponies should know that. I'm not trying to be mean but for the love of Celestia keep that shit to yourself because nopony wants to hear about it. It's wrong on so many levels it's not even funny. It goes against everything natural and you should be ashamed of yourself." Twilight said as she glared at Rarity.
Rarity ran out of the room sobbing. Twilight sat there as she was shocked by what Rarity had revealed to her. She shuddered at the thought of ponies of the same gender loving eachother. She could not believe her own friend was gay. She got up and closed her door.
Rarity ran home crying as tears streamed down her cheeks. She couldn't believe what her friend had said. She got home and closed her door. She then cried while laying down on her bed. She had no idea Twilight would be intolerant or say that about her.
She continued to cry as she was depressed from her friends reaction. Tears fell down her cheeks. Twilights words repeated in her mind. She was expecting Twilight to accept her. She was wrong about Twilights reaction as it was the exact opposite of acceptance.
She was sad and she felt heartbroken by Twilights words. She sobbed quietly as she now knew that she shouldn't have come out. She wanted to end the pain that she felt. She didn't want to be shunned because of who she was anymore. She wanted to be accepted but it seemed like she was already being rejected by one of her friends.
She had no idea on what to do. She felt helpless. She wiped her tears away. Meanwhile Twilight was in her room as she was trying to get over her shock by what her friend told her. She felt disgusted at what was revealed to her. She had no idea on what would happen to their friendship.
The next day Twilight got up and yawned. She thought about what she said to Rarity. She was pretty harsh to her and Rarity didn't deserve to be treated like that. She rethought the whole gay situation in her mind and decided that maybe being gay wasn't as bad as she thought. She also thought about how much she has heard of ponies not being able to help they way they were born and how they are born gay.
She was confused on how to feel. She kept thinking on how she reacted to Rarity coming out. She wondered how scared Rarity must have been when Rarity came out to her. She was probably unsure of how Twilight would react that made Twilight feel even worse. She felt guilty and knew that her actions were unjustified and wrong towards her nice friend.
She wondered when to apologize. She was nervous as she thought of the possibility of her apology being rejected. She did not want that to happen or her chances of reconciliation with her friend would be ruined. She felt terrible about how she treated her friend.
She decided to apologize so she went over to Rarity's. She hoped that Rarity was there and that she could fix her mistake. She felt so guilty over what she had done. It was wrong of her to react like that. She knocked on the door and waited. Rarity came over and unlock it. Rarity spoke.
"Here to bully me again?" Rarity asked as she sighed. Twilight panicked as she didn't want to be driven away from Rarity's place as she wanted to get out her apology. She needed to get an apology together quickly. She spoke as she didn't want to be in this mess anymore.
"Rarity I need to tell you something. I did something terrible to you. You came out to me and you hoped that I would be understanding but I was the opposite and I said terrible things to you. It was not acceptable for me to treat you like that. Being gay is perfectly normal and I see that now. I'm so sorry." Twilight said apologizing.
Twilight waited for Rarity's response as she hoped that she could save her friendship. It all came down to Rarity's answer. She hoped Rarity was as forgiving as she was generous. She feared that Rarity would turn her apology down. She hated that possibility happening. Rarity spoke.
"You shunned me and made me feel terrible about myself. I felt depressed and alone. I had no idea what to do. I feared that you would end your friendship with me and deface my name around other ponies. I tried to think of what I did wrong to deserve such treatment when I didn't do anything wrong." Rarity said pointing out the effects Twilights words had on her.
Twilight was crying at hearing how she treated Rarity as she should have never done such a horrible thing. She felt embarrassed and guilty. A blush was covering her face showing her humiliation. Twilight tried to come up with a really good apology.
"I know that. It was not right of me. I was just thinking about all of that before you even told me just now. I feel so awful I put you through that and I know that I have no right to be forgiven and I understand that fact but please I'm so sorry about what I did. I shouldn't have done that because your my friend and you can't help who you love. It's perfectly normal to be gay." Twilight said crying a little bit. Rarity nodded.
"I forgive you." She said. Twilight hugged her in a tight embrace. They were both glad that they were able to set things right between them. They both broke away from the hug and Twilight spoke.
"I'll never act like that again to somepony coming out to me. I swear it." Twilight said. Rarity was happy that Twilight had changed her view. She nodded.
"Thanks for accepting me" Rarity said. Twilight nodded and Rarity led Twilight in for tea. They both drank some tea to calm themselves down from all of the negative drama and Twilight smiled and said bye to her as she left. Rarity and Twilight were both happy.
