Each year Ponyville hosts the Running of the Leaves, and each year finds Applejack and Rainbow Dash vying for the top spot in the winner's circle. Once the excitement of the race starts to fade, Dash and Applejack spend time reveling over past races, boasting over who has more first place medals.

On this occasion, Applejack has more to share with Rainbow Dash than only memories. Something bittersweet, something she knows is going to hurt her more deeply than Rainbow can ever know.
