Like the tolling of a lonesome gong, Limestone Pie's spade clangs endlessly against the rocky soil of the Pie Family fields. April is unseasonably warm, and the scorching sun threatens to undo her bid to get the latest boulder crop in the ground during high planting season.

Fearing her sister will succumb to heat stroke, Marble Pie seeks to distract Limestone's attention. Better than a glass of iced tea in a stuffy house is time spent with the cool crystalline formations of the family mines - in demand more than ever since the reappearance of the Crystal Empire. There's more to Marble's relaxation regimen than simple rock-hugging though, and the Pie sisters are about to share in a family tradition that brought them all close together when a certain pink sister went off on her own to live in Ponyville.
