"But you always win that one Twilight," Cadence said, "Let's play something new." Luna's face suddenly went from a smile to a wide grin, "We're all magically talented enough, why don't we play manifest word chain? We could make a huge bubble around us and have Shining Armour hold it up, just for a short while," she said. "What is manifest, word, chain?" Twilight asked, trying to work out a connection between magic, a giant shield, and manifest, suddenly it clicked. "Wait, I think I got it. Really Luna, you always come up with the best games." "Alright, for good measure, the rules are simple. Basically, one of us will start, and then we have to say a word that starts with the last letter of the previous word, however, there's a twist. If we say something that's here, we remove it, if it isn't here, we add it. If you fail to answer within 30 seconds, you lose. Also, no repeating words. Turn order will be Twilight, Cadence, myself, Celestia, OK?" "Going first has no disadvantage I can see, so sure," Twilight said, "Shining, can you put a bubble around this room please, and hold it there, thanks," she yelled out the window. "Uhm, sure," he said, tossing up a bubble, large enough to hold the four princesses, the room, and a bit of the surrounding sky. "Alright, let's begin, hmm, let's see, 'Apple'," Twilight said, before creating an apple in front of herself, "Nice and simple first turn, putting you on E," she said, pointing to Cadence. "Alright, 'Eggs'," she said, before creating (summoning?) an egg in front of herself. "Pff, you two are boring as you could be," Luna said, putting a little think to her choice, looking around. "Oooooh, I got it, 'Sun'," she said, before looking to Celestia with a smile. Who, after a grunt, lowered the sun. "I'm liking this already." "Well, we can't have no sun if we have 'Night', can we, that's just sensible, and I can see this game won't be very sensible," she said. Within a flash Discord arrived. "Nightmare moon?" He said, before looking around and noticing Luna and Celestia were both still here, "Never mind then, what's going on here?" "Manifest Word Chain, I said sun, so she said night," Luna said, looking over to Celestia. "Oh I so love that game, can I join?" He asked, looking around? Twilight was alright with it, Luna smiled and nodded, and Celestia and Cadence shrugged and let him join. "I'll take that as a yes then," he said, before clicking his fingers and removing all of the night sky from view, replacing it with a set of purple and green boxes. "This isn't gonna be fun for everyone else to explain, is it?" Twilight said. "Who cares!?" Discord exclaimed, "Hmm, working with a T," he said, "'Time'," snapping his fingers, and the clocks in the room stopped working. All standing exactly still. Twilight realised it was her turn, and she was on an e, so went with a complicated one, "I got a challenge, don't touch the walls of the bubble, 'Electricity'," she said, and conjured some lightning into the edges of the bubble. Which started sparking about. "Naturally, you'd put me onto a Y, wouldn't you Twily..." "Sorry Cadence, surely you've got something?" "I'll get something," she said, "Hmm, uhm, what about, 'Yacht'," she said, summoning a yacht hanging out the window. "Alright, I'm gonna go with 'Titanium', and lots of it," Luna said, before summoning a large titanium shed, that was a few inches thick. Celestia walked over to the shed that was basically a bunker, "This looks nice, wonder if it's any use, maybe I can win here. I can use multiple word things right?" "Yeah," Luna replied. "Brilliant," she said stepping into the shed, closing the door, "'Mother of all bombs'," she yelled, before summoning one just outside the shelter, with a timer of 5 seconds. "'Skittles,'" Discord said calmly, summoning a bag of sweets, and he started eating. "I'm a God of chaos, that bomb won't hurt, will it?" "Shield" Twilight yelled quickly, before creating a shield around herself. "'Diamond hollow hemisphere'," Cadence said, quickly creating a diamond shield around herself. "E?" Luna said, thinking as rapidly as she could, "Got it," she said, waiting for the bomb to explode, then, exactly as the timer hit zero, she spoke, "'Explosion," she said, before removing it from existence. "See, that, that is clever, why are none of you clever?" Discord asked sarcastically . Celestia, having not heard the explosion stepped out from her bunker and smiled, I see, you got rid of it, again am I right?" she said, "'Nuclear bomb'." "Again... Celestia please..." Discord said, as Celestia ducked back inside her shelter. "Eh, how about 'Burrito', yeah, that sounds alright about now," "'Oranges'," Twilight said, summoning some on top of the bomb, somehow, Cadence heard her from within the diamond shell. "'Sandwich'," she yelled, "I could also use some food while I'm in here." "'Hydrogen bomb'," Luna yelled, "I'm going to go in style." She summoned a giant bomb directly on top of the previous one. "Breakfast," Celestia yelled, removing Cadences sandwich and the egg and apple from the beginning. "Thanks Cay-cay," Discord said, "'Tarka'," he said, summoning a shield, "it's Maltese." The two bombs exploded, basically simultaneously, although, it was more or less one after the other really quickly. Luna teleported herself far out of range, accepting her defeat. "Why not, 'Adamantium'?" Twilight said, creating some on the floor, in a little jar. "Fine," Cadence said, coming out of her Diamond hemisphere, as Celestia left her shelter, "'Mass nuclear fall out'," she said, being clever, clearing up the hell outside. "T," said Celestia. So maybe, "'Tombstone'," she said, making a tombstone appear in the center of the nuclear fall out. It read, "R.I.P Luna, she lost." Simple and pure. "'Expression via way of talking'," Discord said, removing the ability to speak. Twilight lit her horn, conjuring a garden, in such a way that the red flowers spelled out 'Garden' on the floor. Cadence conjured a notepad, and quickly scribbled onto it, 'Notepad and pen'. Celestia smiled, doing exactly the same, but scribbling down 'Notebook and pencil'. Discord, however, felt no need to follow suit, simply using his chaotic magic to create an omnipresent sound that resembled well enough what he wanted. "'Llibre' Catalan." The two older Princesses notebooks disappeared. And it was Twilight's turn again. She had an 'e', and was slightly worried, until she realised she could probably win, because of what Discord just did. And she managed to remove 'Entropy' from existence, removing all the randomness of Discord, making him but a mortal. She then fired a laser at the side of the barrier, pushing the electricity away in a perfect fashion so it read entropy , finding a number of shots to lock it in place, not difficult, when there is no randomness, at least, not difficult for Twilight. Cadence was entirely at a loss for words (literally), trying to think of a 'y' beginning word to keep her game going, although, she didn't think she could write a word anyway, so she'd have lost anyway. Her time was ticking, and she just sat down on what was now a pile of rubble. And she just accepted defeat. Celestia however, was not willing to give up that easily, she summoned a ball of 'Yarn' before spelling yarn out with it on the rubble. Discord had plans too, so while Celestia was barely holding on, Twilight and Discord were both planned ahead. Discord took a deep breath, before writing 'Naro' (japanese for white) with the yarn, which caused the walls to go pure purple again, the white electricity against it going invisible. Naturally Twilight capitalised on this, taking a deep, final breath, before writing 'Oxygen' with the yarn, knowing Discord wasn't the best at chemistry. Celestia knew what had happened, so she tried to assist it somehow, 'Nitrogen' she wrote with the much important yarn, clearing the atmospheres and players lungs of the most abundant gas. Discord had no idea what to do, at this point, so simply wrote nope, I quit, good game. Twilight saw and teleported him outside so he could breathe, before taking her turn, 'Narcotic' she wrote, creating then quickly throwing away a few drops of some strange, probably banned liquid. Celestia was basically out of conciousness now, which would naturally prevent her from replying again if twilight wasn't also unconcious, she decided to go easy, moving the yarn around to spell 'Cow', for my own sake, this'll be horrible for it, yet the cow appeared, unfazed, and breathing fine. Twilight knew who's would happen, and quickly re-re-re-arranged the yarn for possibly the tenth or twenty-second time, changing it to something Celestia couldn't answer, as she knew nothing of the language, she wrote 'Weiß' in the yarn, the German for white, and Celestia became visible again, having the white brought back to her. It didn't break the duplication rule because the two different languages versions of white were different words. Celestia saw this and just wrote resign in the yarn, which meant Twilight had won. She started hopping around in joy, quickly removing the bubble around, and returning everything to its natural place, except the building, that had still been destroyed. Which was noticed by many, many ponies, not least of who was Starlight Glimmer, who had instantly teleported all the way to Canterlot. "Twilight, I saw the collapsed building, what happened?" she asked, concerned. "Just playing a game Starlight," Twilight replied. "For the love of Celestia, the actual Sombra did you play!" "Well, it's... complicated..." Twilight began. Author's Note First and foremost: if you speak any of the other languages above and my word choice was wrong in any way, sorry, it was almost exclusively Google translated. Secondly, this was based off of the anime "No Game, No Life," in which the character's do basically this. Ok bye, like and comment if you wanna, idk, this'll probably be a one shot, although, if I might do another similar chapter in the future. Edit: Refinements and stuff, see the first comment below.
