Main Story
Cloudsdale sets itself apart from many other areas of Equestria. Unlike most towns or cities, it has an excellent view of the surrounding landscape, peering even over the great Canterlot Royal Castle and the adjoining city. With a perspective high in the clouds produced there; not from a mountain top, of course as any Pegasus will tell you. Politically, it differed little but sought a necessity to elongate the lifespan of ancient arts and crafts made industrial; but without dropping the social flair.
For years it has been studied by Unicorns; that the Pegasi are without magic but somehow capable of sustaining a life in clouds by providing them with a pseudo solid nature, a magic only they possessed. Perhaps it was just having wings that gave them this power, but that seems so logically lacklustre and deficient. Although the natural anatomy of these creatures was intriguing, as they featured lighter bone marrow and a resinous coating through their fur giving them a biological streamlining.
After your; “chat;” with Twilight, she insisted that for your own development and current predicament, that you visit Cloudsdale and call on a one “Rainbow Dash.” From what you’ve heard she enjoys the athletic life and isn’t afraid to back down from a challenge.
"Great, just what I need; to be disparaged by a pretentious athlete while she mocks my little knowing of her world. Why can’t I stay with twilight and “study” ponies there?"
You think to yourself.
Twilight had given you a cloud walking spell, nothing to ostentatious; like wings or something, you’re not quite sure, but it will allow you to stay there for at least 24 hours.
"Remember Anon; it only works for 24 hours. So you’ll need to be back down by tomorrow. Unless you want to fall 6000 feet Hehe. And also if you get lost following the map, stay out of Galloping gorge, you could get stuck there. And beware of timber wolves."

You make your way north, and out of Ponyvile, into some corn fields when you see Canterlot, situated high on a mountain face, proud and prominent.
"Hmm, impressive. Looks nice; will have to drop by there on the way back."
Bringing your gaze round from the white walls of Canterlot, you catch a glimpse of a cluster of cumulus clouds that seem slightly out of place. Not to mention the fact that they have rainbows pouring in a widely dispersed arrangement on to the ground below, riddling the landscape in an excellent spectrum of vibrant colour.
"Must be it then."
Making your way up was going to be tricky, as there seemed to be no stairs or; elevator at the base when you arrived.
"I guess twilight, wanted to see if I’m able to figure it out for myself then."
A hint of sarcasm piercing your voice. While looking around with bewilderment, and some questionable aggravation, you hear a sound above you.
"Hey there, what you up to mister!"
You stand erect, and look up peering into a low lying cloud. A cyan figure with the barmiest looking; somehow perfectly segregated rainbow coloured hair you will probably ever see.
"Is that a mullet, is this the 70’s."

"Sorry I’m trying to find a way into Cloudsdale, and I have no idea how to do that."
"Well, Pegasi can only get up there, and besides, you wouldn’t be able to trot there. You don’t have any wings!"

"My name? How could you not know my name? I’m one of the ace flyers for the Wonderbolts, and the best flyer in Ponyville, Rainbow Dash!"

"Right Ok, well Rainbow, how do I get up to you then? Your friend twilight, has given me a spell to let me walk on clouds, so all I need to do is get up there."
Rainbow comes down from the cloud she is perched on and you can’t help but notice the surprisingly titillating sight in front of you. You explain to her that you found your way here by falling in the night, as much as you had felt like you fell out of your bed. All of a sudden there were trees and wolves made of shrubbery, which was weird. Running away, Twilight found you near the edge of the forest and took you in for the night, and in the morning said it would be good to explore Equestria by visiting Cloudsdale.
She ponders for a second, surreptitiously nodding and smirking.
"So Anon, you want up into Cloudsdale huh? Well Mr, you can come up with me, but clench your legs when I... lift you up.’
"(Believe me, they are clenched.)"
You’ve managed to identify that the wings on her back gives her species a name that suits with excellent Greek intent. That is probably why they live in clouds, like the birds almost.

With great dread you peer up giving her a frightened expression. She laughs looking up and pumping a fist forward in a super-woman-esque manner hastening her pace, rocketing directly up. You close your eyes and before you know it, the air is, no longer rushing past your ears?
Tentatively opening your eyes, you examine your surroundings.
"Oh; my; GOD!"
The sight in front of you instils a deep and overwhelming awe; that encompasses your every sense. The previous thoughts in determining the etymology of the Pegasi has been doubtlessly confirmed by the sheer architecture of the surrounding marble-white buildings, sedentary on the poofy pale clouds. Each building had Greek like inspiration including Ionic Columns and Simas that quivered slightly in the wind, verifying the cloud material of construction. Waterfalls cascaded enormous volumes of epicene-coloured and viscous rainbow. Pegasi flew around with informal regimented intent going to jobs and shops. Some wore hard hats and Lab coats; carrying clipboards and barometers. From what you gathered previously in preliminary readings at Twilights library, Cloudsdale makes weather, tying in with the whole rainbow, pouring, thing.
Rainbow Dash interrupts your gazing.
"Here I’ll show you round."

Eventually, with the day passing, you arrive at Rainbow’s home just in the south part of the town. A humble abode, tinted a slight purple with the water logged clouds laden above.
