The Solar Sons
Fall Into Darkness Rise Into Light
Load Full StoryIt was a normal day in San Diego. At this time of year, it twas a little chilly in the evenings, and the random rain storms made their way through, but that didn't stop those were attending Pacific Ponycon. Both fans and actors attended this annual event, now in it's second.... or was it third year of being held?
Many panels were being shown, and two con goers were having a chat, about how the show has progressed, and where it could go, and gaps that were left in the time between when Nightmare Moon was banished, to when she returned. Night Mist and Tornado Blitz, who had been long time friends, even before coming to this convention were fairly certain that something had to fill in the gaps of the time in between, but, to be honest, they had to be there. It was a topic they had brought up many times in the past. And they were not afraid to talk about it in public. And they always had each other's backs, should some bullies try to intimidate them. All they really had to do is tell the bullies they were the cowards for not even giving the show a watch, which usually made the bullies back off. Sometimes Tornado Blitz and Night Mist would have heated debates about what happened before Celestia and Luna were old enough to claim the throne, but it was never too heated that they would sever their friendship. As they theorized today, the ground beneath them began to shake.
"What in the?! They said the quake wasn't due for another week!" Night Mist exclaimed.
As other con goers made a break for where ever they could find cover. "I don't know why it's happening, but we gotta find cover before we become part of the rubble!" Tornado shouted.
"Follow me!" Night Mist shouted.
As they escaped falling debree, they were just about to the other building which was more structurally sound for this event, when all of the sundden, the gorund cracked around them, leaving a gapping hole deep beneath surrounding the little piece of earth that had not fallen with the rest yet, and no ledge near enough to jump across. Just as they were about to call for help, the platform they were on suddenly gave way, and they fell with it. They began to scream as they fell deeper and deeper. "............ We're still falling!" Night Mist identified.
They started screaming again. Just then, a bright light engulfed them. As they're eyes adjusted, instead of hearing their screams, their voices now sounded like crying babies, and they saw all these figures around them. "Congratulations your highness. You have two healthy colts," said one of the figures.
The colts couldn't tell who the figure was at this point, since their vision was still blurred, but they could tell it was feminine. But more importantly, they knew they were cold and wanted warmth again. There was a lot of commotion, and they could feel themselves moving about, and they themselves were still crying, until finally, a white blurred figure seemed to hold them close. She seemed giant, but something told them she was not to be feared, and she made them feel safe.
As their vision cleared up, they were in for a shock. A mare who was all too familiar to them was staring down at them a moment ago but was now a complete stranger to them. The Princess of Day herself, Princess Celestia, was holding the two boys, but they didn't know that. "Hello there my sweet baby boys," Celestia said as she brought them closer to her muzzle and proceeded to nuzzle them.
Neither of the boys knew what was happening only that a big mare was holding them. As she finished nuzzling them, they heard another voice that was also familiar, but foreign, say, "I must say congratulations Celestia. This marks quite an occasion. It isn't every day an alicorn foal is born, much less two of them. Two princes to carry on the line of the Solar Family. If Luna were here with us, she would be overjoyed, had it not been for those cursed nobles."
"I think in a sense she is with us. These boys, they were a gift from her and my mate. I think it was her way to thank me, even though I had to banish her. Their father Gold Heart would be proud to have seen his sons were he still with us. That unicorn continue to steal my heart if not for the accident," Celestia said.
"I know how much you miss him Princess, and I shall never forget how he and Night Light always had a laugh when we visited in the past," the mare said once more.
The boys were somewhat starting understand what was going on. The mare named Celestia, was their mother, the colt they called Gold Heart was their father. The mare who spoke with their mother, had a husband named Night Light, and they, themselves were alicorns, just like their mother. When they looked at each other, one was seeing a colt that had a very similar color to their mother, but a very distinct spot of brown in the middle of his forehead between his eyes, shaped in a 6 pointed star fashion. The other saw a colt that was similar to how he looked, but he bore a crescent moon shape on his forehead, between his eyes, and was grey in color. "I can also say that I see how Luna blessed them. She marked one of your sons with a star, and the other with a crescent moon. What shall you call them your majesty?" The mare asked her ruler.
"I think I'll shall call this one, Morning Star," Celestia gestured to the colt with the star on his head. She then turned her attention to her other son, and continued, "And I shall name this young one, Moon Dust, in honor of my sister's Moon, and the valuable dust it sends to Equestria every so often. They shall be under the best protection, and have the best tutors, including me, and of course, my dearest friend Twilight Clover."
"I can hardly be a mentor at this point your majesty. I have my second little charge on the way. How could I possibly be of service Princess?" the mare asked her ruler.
"Oh Twilight Clover, you humble yourself too much. You were too stubborn to even leave your duties when you were pregnant with young Shining Armor. Don't tell me, the only immortal unicorn has gone soft," Celestia teased.
By this time, the doctors had left the Solar family and their friend alone for the time being, so this recent part of the conversation went unheard by them. Twilight Clover was about to counter her ruler's teasing, but soon Celestia's attention was drawn to her two sons who lay in her arms. "Oh, goodness. I think their getting hungry. Twilight, would you mind waiting in the lounge while my son's and I have some privacy?"
"Of course," Twilight agreed before bowing and trotting out.
At this time Celestia had set Morning Star and Moon Dust near her mid section, and lifted her hind leg to reveal her teats. The boys were a little confused, but something told them to latch on, and soon the two colts drank to get their meal. The boys were still trying to figure out what had happened before ending up here. All they remembered the ground shaking, and then falling, before their eyes opened and they somehow found themselves in a land of ponies.
Meanwhile, in another realm between worlds, a figure said, "Lauren, was the earthquake really necessary? You could have just brought them here as they slumbered."
The figure of Lauren Fausticorn chuckled, "Oh, where's the fun in that. Besides, they would have been more confused in that scenario. And I just couldn't stand having my daughter wait for them any longer. All the future events they saw. It was taking too long for our world to get to that point. Besides Bonnie, you can't tell me that wasn't comedic genius."
"It was, but you realize your actions just destroyed their whole world. It took me ages to save as many of their people as I could manage and decide where to send them to. Don't let me catch you pulling that stunt again. You tend to over do it a lot," Bonniecorn Zacherele stated.
"I know, but that quake was more powerful then I had meant it to be. I'll try to be more careful next time," Lauren promised.
Soon, the two walked back through the rift as they made their way to Canterlot Castle to meet their new grandsons/great grandsons.
