Chapters Chapter One: All I Remember
NEO'S POV
It was all I could remember, the day where I visited the devil himself. I had lost all courage given to me at birth, the devil took that courage away. I had learned that there was no god to believe in. I was completely lost. From what I do remember is my past and how I grew up. What I had and what I had lost.
Here's what I remember, well the best I can remember that is:
I lived in a house from hell for four years, from age eleven to almost sixteen. There was constantly something happening. Doors flying open and shut, voices, footsteps. Nothing ever stayed where you put it. I was alone there a lot because both my parents worked and I was constantly terrified.
One of the most gut-level disturbing things though was the little girl in my bathroom. Every time I walked past my bathroom door (which was constantly since it was right outside my bedroom) I saw a little girl with blond curled hair and a rose-colored dress. She just stood there, staring, looking like a photograph from 1905. I started keeping the door closed so I could walk by without seeing her, but she was always there when I opened it. Once I stepped in past her, I couldn't see her anymore but I could feel her there. She scared me, but I felt really sorry for her because she was trapped there, just like me, but probably forever.
As the years went by and things in the house continued to get worse, she started seeming... darker. I started feeling like she wasn't really a little girl. I knew there was something ugly in the house and I felt like it was presenting this sympathetic image to me. Then I started thinking I was completely losing my mind.
One day, when I was 14, I had a friend from out of town come stay with me for a week. I hadn't told her anything whatsoever about the house because I didn't think she would come if I did. Right after she got there we were sitting in my room and she left to go to the bathroom. About a minute later she walked back in with a puzzled look on her face and said "So, there's a little girl in your bathroom". "Um, I, yeah she hangs out in there. Blond hair?" "Curls? Pink dress? Yeah. You know that's not really a little girl, don't you?" I almost threw up. I was so relieved and terrified and excited and ready to run out of the house screaming. She wouldn't use my bathroom the rest of the week and I started using it as little as possible without pissing off my parents (who did not want to believe).
Eventually we moved out and I could not have been happier. I distanced myself from it mentally as much as I could. Then, when I was 18, I took another friend on a road trip to pack up a few things I'd left in the house (my parents hadn't managed to sell it, and wouldn't for 5 more years). The minute we got on the property, my friend seemed uncomfortable. When we came around the bend in the long, steep driveway, he went completely white. I could tell something was wrong, but he insisted he was OK, so we got to work. After a while he asked to use the bathroom and I directed him to mine. Not 20 seconds after he left, he came running back in, gasping for breath, and slammed the bedroom door behind him. He started babbling about a little blond girl who isn't really a little girl. All of a sudden he went dead still, looked me in the eye, and very solemnly said "She's not happy. With you. You left, and you weren't supposed to". We threw whatever we could grab in two trips in my car (after I walked him to another bathroom and waited outside the door) and got the fuck out at top speed.
It wasn't the best house to grow up in, but it was something I guess. I never did see my friend after that. We never did keep contact after that day, he was about the third friend I had lost.
NEO'S POV
There was no pearly gate.
The only reason I knew I was in a cave was because I had just passed the entrance. The rock wall rose behind me with no ceiling in sight.
I knew this was it, this was what religion talked about, what man feared .. I had just entered the gate to hell.
I felt the presence of the cave as if it was a living, breathing creature. The stench of rotten flesh overwhelmed me.
Then there was the voice, it came from inside and all around.
“Welcome”
“Who are you?”, I asked, trying to keep my composure.
“You know”, the thing answered.
I did know.
“You are the devil”, I stuttered, quickly losing my composure. “Why me? I’ve lived as good as I could”.
The silence took over the space as my words died out. It seemed like an hour went by before the response came.
“What did you expect?”
The voice was penetrating but patient.
“I don’t know .. I never believed any of this”, I uttered “Is that why I am here?”
Silence.
I continued: “They say the greatest trick you ever pulled was convincing the world you don’t exist”
“No, the greatest trick I ever pulled was convincing the world that there is an alternative”
“There is no God?” I shivered.
The cave trembled with the words: “I am God”
Chapter Two: Fate Hates Me
NEO'S POV
Whenever I see blood, I think food. I know it's weird, but it's very true. I think the devil did something to me when I woke up from my death bed. Now, you see, I wasn't suppose to die so early in my life. I'm actually in my late twenty's, and I died at age 28, so am I now age 30? Seeing how it's been about two years. No one believes in Vampires, though there's been some true stories about them. Seeing how many young kids started to act like them, made me think about the whole thing. Am I a vampire?
" Seeing how I am afraid and refuse to go into the light, may be more of a clue than I first thought." I spoke softly as the night began to fill the sky, the moon was high tonight, perfect for stealing some blood. "Though, I have doubts about myself now..."
Well...You can always ask me! The voice once more... The devil's voice....
" You're just a simple myth known to mankind now...What did you expect? A whole damn town worshiping you?" I asked bluntly.
You take so much fun away from me!
" Your own fault." I said ever so quietly, looking around the block for a fast asleep victim.
I had heard, from someone in daytime, that when Vampires walk around at night, they find someone special and close to another, to drink their blood and break the heart of the other. How could I do that?
Hello! A mansion! Maybe this has someone I feed off of!
Climbing my way up the house, I could hear someone fighting. Moving towards the window, I could see a brown haired man and a purple haired woman. Married maybe?
"You're so immature!" The woman shouted, making me frown, "How can you not be mad at her!?"
"Because I'm happy about her makin' some new friends!" The man replied.
A fight about their kid making some friends?
"What about her, first, rich, friend!?"
"Of course Silver Spoon is a good friend, Spoiled! But I am happy about befriending Apple Bloom and her friends!" The guy told the woman, who's name is Spoiled.
"Filthy, Diamond befriending Apple Bloom!? A Farmer!? You're out of your mind for letting it happen!" Spoiled said to Filthy, "If I were her-"
"You would do the same."
After hearing them fight some more, I choose to move on. Heading towards one of the bedrooms on the top floor.
You must be loving this! The devil spoke to me.
" Not on your life." I muttered.
Fate really does hate me right now.
