Twilight Sparkle was inside her library sorting through her books as she wanted to get her work done so that she wouldn't have any work to do tomorrow. She concentrated as she got the whole bookcase done. Once when she got done. There was a knock on her door.

She looked over at her door and walked over to it. She then stopped and then opened it up and she was greeted by Pinkie Pie. She smiled. She wondered why Pinkie wanted her. She spoke to her.

"What's the matter?" Twilight asked her. Pinkie tilted her head to one side as she wondered why Twilight said that.

"Nothing. Just wanted to see if you wanted to do something." Pinkie asked in grinning. Twilight thought about what she wanted as she didn't really know as she just got done with sorting her stuff. Twilight looked at Pinkie and responded.

"Okay we can do something." Twilight said. Pinkie grinned and left with Twilight following closely behind. Twilight followed Pinkie. Pinkie was unusually quiet for some reason. Twilight had no idea why. They both sat down on a grassy field and Twilight raised an eyebrow at Pinkie.

"Uh...Pinkie? This is nice and all but don't you want to do something besides just sitting here?" Twilight asked gently. Pinkie looked at her and then looked back at the field and the sky.

"Can I tell you something?" Pinkie asked. Twilight was stunned by this question as she wasn't expecting Pinkie to tell her something. She thought that Pinkie was going to get ice cream or prank ponies like she usually does but this was something entirely different.

"Sure. You can tell me anything. I don't mind!" Twilight told Pinkie hoping that Pinkie felt comfortable to tell her anything. Pinkie looked at her. Pinkie had a serious look on her face so Twilight knew that Pinkie was serious. Twilight paid close attention to her friend.

"What do you think happens to ponies after they die? I know your an alicorn and you can't die but I was just wondering is there an afterlife or do we just sleep like forever?" Pinkie asked. Twilight was stunned by the question. She rubbed the back of her head in thought and surprise at Pinkie asking such a serious question. She tried to answer the best she could.

"Gee...I-I really don't know Pinkie uh....some ponies do believe in an afterlife of some sort but I'm actually not sure....I really don't know and I wouldn't be able to tell you...others believe your reborn or something....ill never go through that because I...can't die....all of my friends will die and I'll be the only one remaining of the group." Twilight said sadly.

Pinkie shook her head. Twilight could tell she was getting upset. Pinkie tried to find the words to speak.

"Do you...think that alicorns can still die?" I heard of something called soul ripping where an Alicorn can take their powers and use them to rip out well...their souls. so powerful it's beyond Celestia. I read it in a...well a restricted book in the Canterlot library." Pinkie stated.

Twilight winced when she heard the word soul ripping. She has heard of it and knew that it was a very restricted topic. Celestia never talked to her about it as Celestia hated it so it was always an off limit conversation. Celestia considered it evil.

"First of all Pinkie...what you are reading about is a very dark evil art of magic that a lot of alicorns restrict themselves of using. Don't mention it to any fillies or Celestia. Celestia is uncomfortable about it." Twilight said. Pinkie nodded.

"I won't. Cross my heart and hope to fly stick a cupcake in my eye! Pinkie said as she recited the Pinkie promise line. Twilight nodded and continued.

"This magic is a very evil and restricted magic that schools don't even teach. Princesses of Equestria or any high unicorn or Alicorn in authority are forbidden to use it in public. It is also illegal to use outside but inside an Alicorn can do any dark magic he or she wants." Twilight explained. Pinkie nodded understanding her. Twilight prepared to get into the very morbid spell Pinkie was talking about. Twilight took a deep breath and spoke.

"When an Alicorn wishes to die as they can no longer take being alive...they...they take their magic...and they use it to reverse their souls outword from them which in a very simple explanation...they use their magic to literally rip their own soul...their life
straight out of themsevles...in a simple description it's technically...magical suicide...that's what it is." Twilight said to Pinkie quietly.

Pinkie nodded at what she just heard. She was completely stunned by what was just described. She shuddered as she got a mental image of it and it terrified her. She calmed herself down.

"Thanks I'm sorry if I disturbed you. I was just curious about Alicorn mortality." Pinkie said in confession. Twilight patted Pinkies shoulder.

"It's alright you didn't...you just stunned me by the question. Just don't linger on it to much and don't mention it to a lot of ponies okay? It's not...it's not a healthy subject." Twilight asked.

"I Pinkie Promise that I won't tell anypony or think about a lot!" Pinkie said quietly. Pinkie recited the promise with a shaky breath by the knowledge that was told to her. Twilight hugged her. They then pulled away from the hug and Pinkie decided to lighten the mood.

"Now enough with the dark magic stuff! Let's lighten the mood with cupcakes and for dear Celestia think about innocent stuff!" Pinkie pleaded. Twilight giggled.

"Of coarse Pinkie!" Twilight said as they went off to have some fun. Twilight was still a bit shocked by Pinkies question but she understood why Pinkie asked it. She and Pinkie smiled as they pushed any bad stuff to the back of their minds and just focused on how good those cupcakes would be.
