First Day At Work
Chapter 1, First Day At Work
Crimson Star was walking through the streets of Canterlot searching for a job so that she could afford the rent on her house. When Crimson moved to Canterlot she had never wanted to stay there for a week never mind end up settling down there and she didn’t bother to check how much rent the rent here was. After half a day looking for some work without luck, Crimson stopped by Donut Joe’s Donut shop and waited in a long line to order a chocolate frosted donut.
Crimson had been in the shop a loads of times but it had never been that busy in there before and then she noticed as she reached the counter that it was Donut Joe working alone. It then came to her that Joe may need somepony to help him out and Crimson thought that she could be that somepony. As Crimson ordered her chocolate donut she realised that the ponies were lining up behind her and that the line was going outside.
“Hey Joe, need some help behind there?” Crimson asked.
“Yeah desperately” Joe answered.
“I’ll help you out” Crimson offered.
   “Fine get behind the counter and take these orders so that I can make the existing ones” Joe said.
Joe and Crimson worked alongside and then the crowd passed and things slowed down at the shop. Crimson noticed that she was actually good at serving people and liked it which was such a surprise since nopony liked serving. Joe admired that Crimson had stepped in and helped him liked that only the nicest ponies would do what Crimson had just done.
“Hey so you did well just then, I’d like to offer you a daytime job” Joe said.
“I’d love that” Crimson replied. “When do I start?”
“How about now” Joe replied.
“Yeah sure” Crimson said. “That would be great.”
As Crimson began to work and make a pot of coffee she realised why all the ponies had come into Joe’s shop and it was standing in the doorway. Prince Blueblood a unicorn and the nephew of Princess Celestia and Luna and he was the Canterlot heartthrob. Crimson didn’t see what eh other ponies saw in him and then he walked over to her to order what he wanted and loads of ponies sat and stared at him.
“Hey, could I have a box of chocolate frosted donuts please?” Prince Blueblood asked.
“Good choice, they’re my favourite” Crimson said.
Prince Blueblood sat on a barstool right in front of the counter and watch as Crimson placed his donuts in a box. Crimson watched as all the ponies in the shop were staring over at Prince Blueblood and wondered what they actually saw in him. To Crimson he was just a male unicorn who was related to Princess Celestia and ponies probably only like him because he was a Prince.
“So you like chocolate frosted donuts?” Prince Blueblood said. “I’m more of a jelly filled donut pony myself. These donuts are for my friend”
“Well you should try one, here’s one on the house” Crimson said giving Prince Blueblood a donut.
“That’s nice of you, but what’s the catch?” Prince Blueblood asked.
“You have to spread the word around that this place I good and the best donut store in town” Crimson said as Prince Blueblood began to eat the donut. “The more bits that this place earns the more bits I’ll get.”
“Ok and it’s an amazing donut and I’ll be back” Prince Blueblood said.
Crimson sighed and gave Prince Blueblood the box and he smiled at her as he left the shop which she found annoying. After Prince Blueblood left the room Crimson found his scarf on the bar stool and she realised that he’d probably left it there on purpose. Donut Joe came back to the shop after going shopping for ingredients because we were running out. The Joe noticed that half of the ponies had left while he’d gone but that was due to Prince Blueblood leaving the shop.
“Was everything ok while I was gone” Joe asked.
“Yeah we had a celebrity guest and I convinced him to tell everypony that this place is the best donut shop in Canterlot” Crimson replied.
“Who was this celebrity guest?” Joe asked.
“Just Prince Blueblood he came prancing in here like he owned the place or something” Crimson said.
“You’re a pony who isn’t attracted to Prince Blueblood that makes you one of a kind” Joe joked.
“He’s just royalty and he flirts way too much” Crimson said.
Joe laughed and then he began making a new batch of donuts and silenced while Crimson managed the counter. The donut shop was still really busy and more ponies kept coming in and I served them all nice and quickly and didn’t leave a lint to grow. Joe saw how hard Crimson was working and knew that hiring her was a good idea for his business and she was the best employee he’d ever had and the most attractive.
“So Joe, why didn’t you have any employees working here?” Crimson said.
“Well usually it’s not so busy and staff come and go” Joe said.
The rest of the day at work was not so busy and Joe closed up early so that he could work on a few new recipes alone. Crimson went to her friend’s house her name was Minuette and she was Crimson’s only friend since she moved to Canterlot. Minuette was a very nice and kind pony who was a great friend and Crimson could trust her when she needed to if she ever felt like sharing.
“Hey Crimson I wasn’t expecting you” Minuette said as she opened the door.
“I’m sorry for dropping by unannounced, but I just got a new job and I wanted to talk to somepony about it” Crimson said.
“Fine come on in” Minuette said.
Crimson followed Minuette into her house and sat down on a sofa in her living room and made herself comfortable. Minuette had a good life and was previously the friend of Princess of Friendship before she had left to Ponyville. Minuette was very successful and her house was massive even though she lived all on her lonesome.
“So where are you working now?” Minuette asked.
“At the donut shop and guess who I met today who was really annoying” Crimson said.
“No idea” Minuette.
“Prince Blueblood” Crimson said.
“Really, and you’re not happy about it. It was Prince Blueblood the most handsome prince ever” Minuette declared.
“I just don’t like him he’s annoying and he waves his title around everywhere” Crimson said.
“Sometimes I really don’t understand you” Minuette said.
Crimson left Minuette’s house shortly after telling her about her day and she slowly walked down the street. Crimson had no idea where she wanted to go next as she didn’t want to go home and end the day before it got dark. She suddenly found herself in the Canterlot royal gardens and felt a slight tap on her shoulder as she sat down on the grass. She turned around and was surprised to see Princess Celestia standing right behind her.
“Bad day?” Celestia asked.
“No a good one actually, I got a job at the donut store and your nephew came to buy some and he started talking to me” Crimson said.
“Really he showed an interest in you, he usually only cares about whether his hooves are about to get muddy” Celestia laughed.
“He’s nice and all but after what I did I can’t bare it. He doesn’t know and he wouldn’t even look at me if he did” Crimson said.
“Only Princess Luna and I know about it in Canterlot and we aren’t going to tell anypony” Celestia explained. “Why don’t you just have some fun.”
“I’d feel too guilty to do anything fun in Equestria” Crimson replied.
“If Luna and I can get over it you should be able to” Celestia said.
Celestia flew away leaving Crimson alone to think about her past and how she should move on from it just as the princess had told her to. It was hard enough to think about what she had done but getting over it would too hard so Crimson had decided to ignore what Celestia had told her. She had decided that Blueblood would have to find someother pony to annoy because she wasn’t going to tolerate it when he returned for his scarf.
Crimson decided to walk back to her home where she would say goodbye to the day and go to bed. Tomorrow would be the day that she went to work and had a full day so that she which would make her feel amazing. Crimson had been given a new start and she was going to take the chance and live life to the fullest until she could finally achieve what she really wanted. No matter how many chances Celestia gave her Crimson wasn’t going to stop trying to get her revenge
