Our story begins in a chamber deep within the earth.
The chamber looks like a cube, but if you watch more closely you can see, that every part of the chamber has runes on it. These runes are there to make sure, that the chamber fulfills its duty.
The duty of this chamber is an interesting one.
It has to guard a statue, which depicts a alicorn, that wears regila and has the mark of the sun on its flank.
But as you likely already guessed, this is no ordinary statue.
It is a prison to the most powerfull pony in existence, Princess Celestia.
The alicorn, which raised the sun thousands of years ago.
And this is, where our story starts.
...and if I use Starswirl's principle of equivalent exchange this spell should be able to turn anything to gold, which is a significant improvement from the original spell, which could only turn lead into gold.
Now I need to think of another problem, that can be solved by a spell, since that is the only thing, that I can do down here.
How should I have known, that the ponies saw me as a threat to them.
Flashback
"I am sorry, that it had to come to this Princess Celestia" says Twilight.
"I knew, that it would come to this sooner or later. And I am not angry at you or anypony else for that matter. On the contrary, I could not be prouder of you all. After all a mother should always support her children, no matter what they do." I say to all the ponies, that have come to my imprisonment.
"I will miss you Celestia."says Twilight and stepps into formation.
Moments later she and the other element bearers rise from the earth and the magic energy of the elements starts to swirl around them. And now it envelops me und I can see how it is turning me to stone.
So I smile and rear up on my back legs.
Little did I know that while I was turned to stone a tear worked its way down my muzzle and also got petrified.
Maybe I should invent a spell, that can reflect projectiles, like spells and arrows back to the pony, that fired them at me. I should probably also make the spell able to reflect projectiles, that are far faster, then arrows and spells.
Since those projectiles could hit me from anywhere I should make it a spericle field around my body.
Now the question is, should I make it a corporal shield or-
BOOM
What was that!?
BOOM
There it is again. The only ones, that would dig so deep into the earth are either changelings, diamond dogs, miners or archeologists. Which means, that I could be out of here soon.
BOOOM
That explosion was louder then the last one! After all this time I will finaly be FREEEE!
Muhahaha!
Ahem I should probably not do something like that once I am free...
Booom Crack
Are that voices? There! I can see a crack!
"Stop the Drill! I think we have hit a cave!" What is a drill? Is it a mining machine?
ClangClangClang
"Come on! Open that crack more!"
Clang ClangClang
Crack
There! I can see them! One of them is comming through the hole!
He is a diamond dog, His coat is rust-red and he is wearing a helmet to protect his head, which has a light in it.
"Guys! This is not a Cave! This is probably a grave! Call the Archeological Institute for History in Manehatten!"
This dog thinks, that this room is a grave? Well I suppose one could think that.
Is he already gone? Yes he is. Well now I just have to wait till they get me out of here...
"There it is professor Williams. Here is the chamber with the statue" are the first words I hear after the dog went back outside.
And soon after I see him enter together with a griffin, that is wearing a brown suit.
As soon as he is in the chamber he beginns to laugh in joy.
"THIS IS AMAZING!! Mister Ruby, do you know what you just uncovered?" he suddenly cried out.
"No, I don't, but it must be pretty old to have you that happy."
"This discovery is astounding. This chamber is not only full with runes, but it also has a undamaged statue of the Sun goddess of the ancient race of ponies."
What! Sun goddess? Ancient race? What are they talking about.
"What do you mean with runes professor?"asked Ruby.
"Well you see the ancient race of ponies believed in magic and edged runes in their graves or other places they wanted to protect, because the believed, that runes were magical."answered the griffin.
"Ok. I understand and what about the statue?"
"This statue is the only statue we have come across that is completely undamaged, as far as I can see.
This statue must also have been pretty valuable, because it is so deep underground. And this statue has a tear running down its face, which is unique to it.
Now to the story behind the statue.
The ponies believed, that there was a Sun goddess that raised the sun, which we know is not possible, since we rotate around the sun."said the professor.
After that statement the professor took out a tiny device and walked towards me.
Then he pressed a button and a tiny red beam shot out of the device.
"This is astounding. If my readings are correct this statue is 4900 years old!"
What?! I knew thousands of years must have passed, but so many? How will the world out there look?
"Get a team here Mister Ruby! This will be the discovery of the century!"
"Right away sir!"

The statue of Celestia in the chamber is the same one from the cover art.
Hope you liked the story.
As soon as Ruby said that he ran out of the hole and mere moments later he came back with a team of four diamond dogs, which lifted me up and carried me behind Ruby and the professor.
As we finaly reached the exit I was momentary blinded by the many lights, that were lit around the cliff.
And then I saw, many metal contraptions, which were moving around the cliff.
These contraptions were unlike anything, that I had ever seen.
They seemed to move on some type of wheel, which was made from rubber and were loaded full with stone and ores.
"Alright! Load her up! But be carefull!" said the professor and some time after that I was strapped down with ropes and the team of diamond dogs sat themselves down next to me.
A short amount of time later the machine started to drive down the mountain path. I thought, that I should learn, of my surroundings and started to look at the path, that I could see, but no matter how hard I tried, I could not find anything on the path, that I knew from my past.
It took a long time, to exit the mountain path but when we did I was at a loss of words to describe the view, that I saw. In the distance I could see a giant city, which was made from glass and steel. Not to mention, that if was several times larger then Manehatten.
I could not believe what I saw, as we entered the city. Everywhere were towers made from various metals and sculptures made from glass. But no matter where I looked there were no trees or plants around.
This bothered me greatly, as I could not comprehend how they were able to breath in the city without plants to generate oxigen for them. But then again they could have come up with some new technology in my absence.
Some time later we arrived at a round building, where they unloaded me and placed me on a pedestal before covering me with some kind of cloth. From what I could gather the professor informed the press about his found while we were on our way.
It was not long before I started to hear noises, the press no doubt.
"I am pleased to announce to the world, that I, professor Williams have found a historic treasure unlike any other. This treasure predates even our oldest artifacts and you will be the first ones to see it. Reveal it!" said the professor proudly.
A short moment later the cloth is removed and I am assaulted by flashes from cameras and shouts from photographers.
The room I am in looks interesting.
I am in a white room with a glass ceiling. And in front of me is a crowd of reporters.
But what confuses me are the griffins in the back of the crowd. They seem to be carrying black rectangular boxes.
But I have no time to ponder it's purpose, as the professor started to speak again.
"This statue was found in a chamber deep under the canter mountain. And is 4900 years old!"
canter mountain? That must be what they call it today.
That makes sense. They are probably mining the crystals in the caves.
That reminds me! I must figure out the spell Sombra used to generate crystals.
But that can wait for later. I should be planning my future right about now.
What should I do in the future? And I can not forget that I am the last of an extinct species.
If I go at this logically this would be the best moment to break free of my imprisonment. Not only would I be released in such a public fashion, I would also instantly be approached by government figures.
To break free I will just have to release the magic in my magic core, which has only grown since my imprisonment, into the statue. Through this the thaumic pressure inside the statue will be unbalanced from the ambient thaumic pressure of the universe.
Which will force the spells and seals, that were placed by the elements, to absorb the ambient magic.
This will cause an underpressure outside of my prison and give me the edge I will need.
If I then can build up more thaumic pressure than the seals and spells I will be able to overpower them.
Outside of the statue nobody suspected a thing of the oncoming event. They were still asking the professor about the statue, when one of the reporters saw a crack appearing on the statue.
"Professor! There is a crack in the statue!" shouted the reporter.
"What!? Everybody step away from the statue. It could crash down any minute."replied the professor, while everyone backed away from the statue.
A short amount of time later more cracks began to appear. They became more and more, till the statue was riddled with cracks.
"Professor! What is happening?" asked a reporter.
"I have no Idea about what is happening!" answered the professor.
Crack
With that sound the statue was blown apart.
Splitters flew everywhere and the crowd had to shield their eyes.
When they looked again they were speechless.
In front of them stood the pony goddess!
As the dust cleared and I could see again I stood in front of the reporters and the professor.
They were a mixture of griffins and diamond dogs.
This surprised me greatly, because that would mean that the other magic species vanished with my little ponys.
But I should think about that later. Right now I have to make a good first impression.
So I spread my wings, put on my most graceful pose and started speaking.
"Greetings! I am Princess Celestia of Equestria.
And I must thank you for freeing my from my prison under the mountain."
After I spoke they were still speechless.
So I waited for some minutes and when they still did not move I said to them:
"I am not getting younger you know."
And that seemed to wake them from their shock.

I changed the time from 42.000 to 4900 years, that Celestia spent as a statue.
