Twilight Sparkle stood in front of the mirror and stared into her own eyes. She chewed lightly on her lip, wrinkling her muzzle.
The bulbs and mechanisms lining the mirror remained dark. It was nothing more than reflective glass at the moment, belying the incredible power to transfer between worlds that lay within it.
Rarity leaned into view from her sitting position and met Twilight's eyes in the mirror. The windows of Twilight's library lay behind her. "Well, you don't want to leave her waiting, do you?" She smiled, her eyelids lowered teasingly.
"It's—We're not even supposed to meet for another ten minutes! She's probably not even, um, there yet," Twilight responded, her voice lowering to a unconvincing mumble as she went on.
"Oh, yes, neither of you have ever struck me as the punctual type," Rarity deadpanned. "We're not nervous, are we, darling?"
Twilight turned to look at Rarity. Some months prior, they and the rest of their group of six had entered into a strange arrangement in which a significant amount of benefits were added to their friendship—something that Twilight still found herself disbelieving at some points. These sexual escapades were typically contained to their weekly get-togethers, which they found a fun and happy diversion that seemed to somehow bring them even closer together. Twilight tried not to question it.
As with most things in Twilight's life, this was brought up in her conversations with Sunset Shimmer through their linked journals—which, naturally, led to the alternate reality's group of friends slowly organizing and experimenting with their own "diversions." Twilight had gone over from time to time to participate to various degrees, though often it was spent with Sunset only.
When she wasn't able to make time to pop over to an alternate dimension, she and Sunset would restrict their involvement to the pages of their journal, writing page after page of roleplay Twilight desperately hoped Celestia would never see—particularly given the direction it had grown over the weeks. Though Twilight thought it a terrible mistake at first, she couldn't deny the thrill it gave her.
That writing ended up culminating in this moment: Twilight standing in front of the mirror, working up the nerve to act on an agreement they made.
"I…" Twilight said. "I don't think I'm nervous. But it's been a while since I've tried something so… new."
Rarity nodded. "Well, you've made the proper arrangements, from what I understand. It doesn't sound like you're going to be doing anything terribly extreme, but I presume you've nevertheless set some sort of phrases in place."
"Oh! Yes, we—Yes."
"Excellent! Then all that remains is to have fun, and to tell me all about it when you get back." Rarity smiled brightly.
Twilight chuckled softly. "Not terribly extreme, huh?" she said, a bit quietly.
Rarity cocked her head. "Was there something I missed? From the sounds of it, the only props you'll be using are costumes."
"Right, but—I guess I just keep wondering if the… theme is something that's too—"
"Ohhpssh," came Rarity's response, somehow monosyllabic. "Fantasies are just that, darling, fantasies. Don't give a second thought to their nature as long as you're both going in aware."
Twilight blushed softly and looked at the floor. "Right. Okay."
Rarity hesitated for a moment. "I apologize, dear. I shouldn't be so dismissive. Your concerns are perfectly normal…" She paused. "...but at the same time, not worth worrying about in the slightest. Um, does that make sense?"
Twilight laughed. "More or less."
"You've established your hard boundaries, you've established your "maybe-next-time"s, and you've established some things you are looking for. When there's mutual agreement, nothing is 'too' anything."
Twilight smiled. "Thanks for all the time you've taken to talk me through all of this, Rarity."
"Think nothing of it! It's always exciting to see a friend take bold steps into a new frontier," Rarity replied.
Twilight breathed out. She levitated her journal off the nearby table and placed it in its slot at the top of the machine, once more beginning the activation process that was so familiar to her now. The various magical devices began to power on, most prominent being the twin coils connected by magical tendrils that seemed to be created from sheer light.
"Beautiful," said Rarity, her eyes trailing after the magic as it crept up the mirror. "Have I complimented you on the aesthetics of this machine before? Well, the machine itself could use a bit of design work, but the light show is simply marvelous."
Twilight chuckled. "It wasn't exactly my main objective, but I'm glad you like it." As the glass turned into a swirling portal of light, she took a step forward. "See you tomorrow, Rarity! Oh, and if Spike asks—"
"Yes, of course. 'Research,' or somesuch." Rarity smirked. "Do have fun, darling!"
Twilight grinned back. She turned towards the portal once more and dashed through. Her senses were overwhelmed with impossible booming lights and coarse noises—something she knew she would never get truly used to.
As the shifting world around her calmed into a familiar configuration, she immediately began to rise from her kneeling position. Opening her eyes, the first thing she saw was a light orange hand reaching out for her. She lifted her gaze and met the cheerful smile of Sunset Shimmer; a smile that pushed all the anxiety out of Twilight's mind. Immediately, she stood up and hugged Sunset tightly, ignoring the outstretched hand entirely.
"Whoa!" Sunset chuckled. "Well, it's good to see you too."
Twilight pulled back, grinning. "It is good to see you!" She looked around at the empty high school campus. "Wow, it's a beautiful day today."
"Yeah, we do alright, even without the magical flying ponies," Sunset replied. Twilight giggled. "Oh, I saw Rarity on the way over here. She says hi."
"Hah! I saw Rarity just before I came through," Twilight said. "She says… um, pretty much the same."
Sunset backed up and extended a hand in the direction of her apartment. "Shall we?"
Twilight paused for a moment, studying Sunset's easygoing expression. Throughout all of their conversation, Twilight had sensed no unease from Sunset in regards to their pushing forward; her only hesitations had stemmed from ensuring Twilight was comfortable. Even now, Twilight couldn't find a hint of reluctance in her eyes.
Twilight smiled. "We shall."
Sunset opened the door to her apartment and strolled in, holding it open for Twilight. "Ooh, you cleaned up!" Twilight said, surveying the hall and what she could see of the living area.
"Hey, I always clean up when you come over! Like… a little." Sunset closed the door. "I guess I didn't want us tripping over stuff? I thought that could get annoying."
Twilight chuckled, then saw a paper bag with clothing in it leaning against the wall. "Is this for me?" She knelt down to undo her boots.
"Yup! I don't think I mentioned, actually—It's from an old part-time waitressing job I used to have. I, uh, kinda forgot to bring that back when I got fired, so it's been in the back of my closet for way too long. It's a bit ratty, so it might fall apart..." She smirked, and walked out of view into the kitchen. "You can get changed in my room! I'll change in here."
We're getting right into it, I guess, Twilight thought. She took the bag into Sunset's bedroom, which wasn't quite as cleaned-up as the rest of the apartment. She picked through the contents a bit before setting it down on the ground and beginning to undress.
In the back of her mind, a thought continued to burrow and niggle at her. Given what she knew of Sunset, she expected some form of doubt or anxiousness, but couldn't find any no matter how hard she tried. She wasn't sure if it was worse to think that Sunset was reluctant to open up to her, or to think that she just didn't know Sunset as well as she thought she did.
Once the two-piece outfit was assembled, she looked herself over in Sunset's wall mirror. The top half was a dark purple, buttoned-up, short-sleeved blouse with a logo. The bottom half was a wide matching skirt adorned with a bit of lace at the bottom. It was a touch small on her, exposing a sliver of her midriff. She hiked it up to expose her stomach more fully and make it look closer to purposefully skimpy. Hey, that's how you get the good tips, right? she thought, grinning. There was no underwear in the bag, so she decided to go without. Her legs were completely bare, the skirt stopping just above her knees.
"Where did you work? A retro diner?" Twilight yelled to Sunset as she opened the door and stepped out.
"Nope! Well… does it count if it's just super-old and never decided to update? Probably why it went out of business," Sunset replied. One of the kitchen counters extended out into the middle of the room, and Sunset had her back to it, leaning on her elbows. She had a buttoned-up biker jacket on that was adorned with dull spikes, as well as dark jeans fastened with a belt. A pair of thick dark heeled boots and leather fingerless gloves completed the ensemble.
Sunset looked down at Twilight's legs. "Oh, shoot, there were these long socks that went with that, too. Those have definitely been lost to the void." She grimaced apologetically.
Twilight laughed and moved to the opposite side of the counter, behind Sunset. "Well, you're looking tough. Is this your old…" She inspected the back of the jacket with her eyes and hand. "Huh. No, it's not. Why didn't you use that old jacket you used to wear all the time?"
"That, uh, sorta got burned," Sunset said quickly. She turned around and faced Twilight. "Now, what do I gotta do to get service in this seedy old dive bar?" She grinned.
Twilight grinned back. She leaned in and slid a nearby notepad and pen over. "I'd be happy to serve ya, love," she said, affecting a slight accent. "What can I get ya?"
"Whatever's hot, babe," Sunset replied. Twilight snickered, pretending to scribble in the notepad with a pen that seemed to be out of ink anyway. "Gotta say, though… you ain't lookin' so seedy yourself." Sunset made a point of looking up and down Twilight's frame.
"Oh, it's an employment outreach program we've got goin' here. They subsidize us for hirin' young disenfranchised unseedy-types! It's so hard for us to break into the dive bar business otherwise," Twilight heard Sunset try to stifle a snort. "I just came here from the countryside all on my lonesome. It's a scary place, but I'm gettin' by!"
Sunset nodded. "Yeah, I'll bet it is…" She pointedly cocked her head and looked at Twilight's behind, thrust out slightly. "Lonely, too." She ran a finger up the front of Twilight's blouse, applying just enough pressure for Twilight to feel it as it traveled over her breast.
Twilight adopted an offended expression and backed away. "Madam! Please! That is just all sorts of inappropriate!"
"Ohhh, c'mon, there's no one else here…" Sunset said. "No harm in us going to the back so I can get somethin' not on the menu?"
"Absolutely not," Twilight replied. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm be heading to the back to prepare your order." She turned from Sunset's glowering expression and walked into the living area in a sort of roundabout fashion. She stood next to a wall near the television and looked at her notepad, snickering at the "HOT STUFF" she had imprinted on the page.
Her heartbeat rose as she pretended not to hear the footsteps behind her. "Patrons're so grabby these days," she said out loud. "Let me find something spoiled to send back out to—"
Sunset's hand grabbed her shoulder and whirled her around before slamming her back into the wall and eliciting a gasp. Sunset's arm pressed against her neck—though Twilight could feel that most of the weight was being carefully distributed to her shoulders.
"I said I wanted something hot," Sunset said in a low tone, her eyes glancing down at Twilight's body once again. "I don't like being told no."
Twilight's heartbeat soared. Sunset's eyes conveyed hostility and lechery, and yet Twilight felt no danger—no true stress.
Twilight struggled under Sunset's arm. Sunset pressed harder. "Don't tell me this isn't what you really wanted… hiking up your blouse like that." She leaned into Twilight's neck, inhaling deeply, drawing in Twilight's scent. Her free hand stroked Twilight's exposed side.
"It's… just how we get the good tips…" Twilight stammered out, wriggling under Sunset's weight.
"Well, what do you think I'm doing? I'm showing you how much I appreciate your service." Sunset's hand slid a few inches under Twilight's blouse.
Twilight shoved Sunset off, first with her shoulder, and then with the full force of her arm. Sunset stumbled back; Twilight paused with brief concern, hoping Sunset wasn't about to fall, then met her eyes, full of rage. "You need to leave," Twilight said. She allowed a flicker of invitation to pass through her expression; Sunset smirked just slightly in return.
"Shut up," Sunset replied as she rushed forward. She grabbed Twilight's flailing forearm and held it tight above her head as she slammed her against the wall once more.
Her other hand grabbed Twilight's breast, groping and twisting it roughly. A rush of air escaped Twilight's mouth. "I'm not feeling a bra under here. This is how you come to work? And you still expect me to believe this isn't what you're really looking for?" Sunset kissed Twilight's neck roughly, pressing a good deal of her weight into Twilight's breast.

"I'm playing nice, here." Sunset pulled back and met Twilight's eyes. Her hand began to travel up Twilight's blouse again. "If you scream… that goes out the window."

"Prohibere," Twilight replied. Her eyes were closed with a wide smile on her face. She slowly sat up and leaned herself against the wall, arms crossed and holding herself. Sunset sat down against the counter in turn. They said nothing for a time, catching their breath.
"That was great," Twilight said, opening her eyes and looking at Sunset.
"Yeah?" Sunset said. "Yeah, it was." She smiled.
"Whether I should or shouldn't have… I really enjoyed that."
Sunset didn't reply. She stared forward at the top of her knees.
"So… what about you? Any stage notes for next time?" Twilight said, chuckling softly.
Sunset began to say something, but hesitated. Twilight put her smile away, but remained silent.
"You're just sure that I don't…" Sunset began, "...sound… familiar… when I'm like that… right?"
Twilight's eyes widened as her mind whipped back to something she completely glossed over earlier. "Your old jacket. You… burned it," she said quietly.
Twilight looked at Sunset in concern, who avoided her gaze. Slowly, she moved over and sat next to Sunset, facing her.
She put one hand on Sunset's face and spoke. "Hey." Sunset met her eyes. "You're not that person. You're acting now and you were acting then."
"But these fantasies—"

Sunset let out a small snicker. "What was that accent?"

"But that's the problem! I did, and…" Sunset trailed off.
"And I enjoyed the other end! So, you know…" Twilight offered up a fistbump. "...go team." She shrugged.
Sunset stared at Twilight's expression, then began to crack up as she reciprocated. She extended an arm around Twilight's shoulders and drew her closer.
Twilight snickered. "If you haven't picked it up from the accent slip yet, I got talked through a lot of this by Rarity." She paused. "Did you…?
Sunset shook her head. "No, I… I trust our friends in every way, but it just never… came to mind. You're who I leap to when I want to talk about something, but… I guess I'm still not that great at giving everything up." She sighed softly. "I'm sorry."
Twilight shook her head. "Don't be," she said quietly. "You're…" She put her hand to Sunset's face again.
Twilight looked into the eyes that had conveyed such anger, such lechery, such disgust that day without ever feeling uncomfortable to her. Her finger lightly traced some strands of Sunset's golden hair.
The room was silent save for the soft sounds of their breathing. Their faces were only an inch apart. They stayed unmoving, no thought given to the passage of time.
"I…" Twilight barely whispered.
As one, they came together in a deep kiss, deeply breathing each other in. Twilight moved her hand to the back of Sunset's neck and lost herself in their connection.
After a moment, they pulled apart, breathing heavily. Their foreheads met, eyes closed.
"I know we just—" Twilight began.
"Yeah."
"Do you—"
"Yeah."
They rejoined the kiss as Sunset quickly zipped her jacket down and slid it off of her. Twilight hooked her hands under Sunset's shirt and pulled it up over her head. Sunset began to undo her belt, but was cut off as Twilight grabbed both sides of her head and sat up on her knees, kissing her passionately from above.
Twilight moved to Sunset's breast, taking her nipple in her mouth. "Hahh…" Sunset moaned, undoing her belt and pushing her jeans and panties down. Twilight helped with one hand, still focused on Sunset's breast, then moved her hand between Sunset's legs, stroking her vulva. "Mmm…" Sunset lay with her back on the floor.
Twilight swung a leg over, practically straddling Sunset at the torso, and bent down to bring her face closer to Sunset's. As Twilight put her hands on Sunset's shoulders, there was a pause in the action. They felt each other's breath coursing over their faces, their heartbeats racing. This was different.
Twilight shifted backwards and put her mouth to Sunset's nipple once more, eliciting another moan. Sunset withdrew a leg from underneath Twilight and moved it to the side, wrapping it around Twilight's waist. Twilight stopped what she was doing and pressed her sex against Sunset's.
Holding on to Sunset's raised leg, Twilight began to grind herself into Sunset. They each took their hand and clasped the others' arm at the elbow, keeping themselves locked as they scissored.
Twilight met Sunset's eyes, both mouths open in exertion. Twilight threw her head back and lowered herself gradually, growing closer and closer to the floor, her hand sliding down Sunset's arm. Before long, she was mirroring Sunset's position completely, and they tightly gripped each other's hands.
Twilight wasn't sure why, but every part of her wanted Sunset more than ever before. To share everything with her—To be with her. She watched Sunset, who was biting her lip, eyes closed.
Sunset opened her eyes and looked at Twilight. "I'm—"
Twilight immediately slipped out of position and moved on top of Sunset, back to her straddling position. She kissed her deeply and moved her hand in circles over Sunset's folds. Sunset reciprocated with her own hand.
Twilight broke the kiss just long enough to breathe, "Come with me."
With one hand stroking the other and one hand tangled in the others' hair, both girls' moans grew faster and faster. Sunset twitched and Twilight buckled, struggling to stay up. Their breasts heaved against each other.
Twilight came silently, pulling away and simply inhaling deeply. A trembling resonated through every part of her. Sunset's back arched sharply. "Ohh, Twilight…" was the only vocalization.
Twilight collapsed to her side, wrapping her arms around Sunset, who did the same. They lay on the floor in an embrace.
Twilight beamed at Sunset through exhausted eyes. "I think… this must be how Fluttershy and Rainbow feel."
"You mean Fluttershy and Pinkie," Sunset said teasingly. Fluttershy's relationship was one major divergence between their respective worlds.
Twilight squinted and lightly smacked the side of Sunset's head, causing Sunset to laugh. "One of those. Sure. I just…" Twilight trailed off.
"Yeah," Sunset said. "I really like it when you're here."
They said nothing for a time, lying among discarded and tattered clothing.
"...What does this mean for the future?" Sunset said.
"I'm not… sure?" Twilight laughed. "Everything we've been doing has been pretty great. More of that."
Sunset nodded. "Speaking of: Maybe a teacher theme next time? You get this ridiculous schoolgirl outfit and I'm like, 'Your grades are bad! See me after class! Alone!'"
Twilight laughed. "Mandatory extra-credit work?"
"Yeah! I could even get a big spankin' ruler."
Twilight pulled back. "Eehhhhh…"
"I see it in your eyes, you're interested!" Sunset waggled her finger at Twilight.
Twilight blushed and looked away. "Eeehhhhhhhh…"
Sunset cracked up. "Oh, but what am I thinking? No way it could work. You could never play someone with bad grades."
Twilight laughed, then nodded. "It's true. I might have been a backwater town waitress just then, but you know perfectly well I was a backwater town waitress who was going to college."
"I definitely picked up on that. Very subtle, but important to the character." Sunset snickered. "Okay: Schoolgirl stockings. Yea or nay?" Twilight's vigorous nodding elicited more cracking up.
The shining sun caught them through the window, causing lengthening shadows as the hours were spent planning their future endeavors.
