Soarin, a wonderbolt admired by many. A friend, a son, a husband. He was an idol to many in Equastria, he seemed like the perfect roll model, he had ponies around him who loved him, he had a loving wife who cared about him more than anything else in the world.

After many hours of searching, the cyan mare finally spotted him. She knew he messed up. She knew that, but everyone makes mistakes; don't they?
"Soarin-'' Rainbows voice cracked. He didn't move, his gaze didn't meet hers.
"Soarin, please.. look at me.'' Dash tried to sound determined, but a whispered sob pierced through her throat.
He didn't turn around.
"Your dad was as stubborn as a mule, you didn't know any better-''

"This mess isn't your fault..''
It wasn't a mess. He knew it. It was a tragedy.
The Navy blue haired stallion finally brought himself to turn around. He still didn't meet her sad eyes. He couldn't bring himself to.
"My dad, is dead because of me.'' He said in a breath he didn't know he was holding in for so long before.
"Soarin that isn't t-''
"I told him.'' Soarin stood up with stone cold, teary eyes, wearing an expression Rainbow herself couldn't quite read.
"I told him.. the day b-before he passed a-away, that... I wished that I wasn't his son.'' Soarin broker down before his wife, the wall around him shattered into thin ice, into tears. He shared those tears with that wall that kept him from seeing the light, which had now been destroyed after Soarins realisation.
Rainbow couldn't just stand there. She did the only thing she could, and dropped down and comforted him in a warm, embracing hug.
"He was old, besides, you didn't know that that was the last time you spoke to him.''
"I just wish, I never..'' Soarins voice cracked with a sharp exhale. "I never told him I love him.''
"He knows you do..Soarin-'' She broke the hug and brought his gaze finally up to hers. "Sometimes, you don't need words for somepony to know that you love them. He loved you, he was stubborn but, he only wanted the best for you.''
Soarin nodded slightly as his green eyes slowly fragmented into sorrowful tears like real emeralds. "I should have been there, holding his hoof, in his last few moments. Rainbow herself fluttered back some pleading tears. Before her mum passed away many moons ago, they used to sing together. It brought them closer, and suited the current situation her husband was in.
She took in a tearful breath.
''Wherever its going, I'm gonna chase it, what left of this moment, I'm not gonna waist it..''
Soarin gaped at her. His heart started to sing instead of his throat.
''Stranded together, our worlds have collided, th-this won't be f-forever, but i'll try to fight it..''
At the last line Dash smiled warmly. This time they sang in unison.

It was just them. Singing together in the sunset. All of their emotions released in one song, bringing the two ponies closer in the same way Dash had connected with her mum. Together they sang, they grew old together, they shared more memories together. They helped each other through thick and thin, and helped each other up again. They loved each other. Through their years they raised their son, who's special talent became singing. His cutie mark resembled another happy memory Soarin and Rainbow Dash shared together.
"Memories are something you share. There can be good ones and bad ones, but you can never deny them. They are the very fabric of your personality, stitching together to form your present self. Only together can you see the light in them...
And never forget this, your mother helped me through my bad memories. She cared about me when I didn't deserve that. I hope you can find somepony as amazing as she was to look out for you, son.''
"But dad, I.. how do you get through everyday without her being by her side anymore?''
"Because she taught me one thing I'll never forget.''
Soarin smiled fondly, looking up to the sky that had now opened the clouds.
"we're beautiful now.''
