Chapters Its the summer school holiday, sun is shining bright outside, birds singing their morning song as the neighbourhood is at its peaceful moment. You were staying at home reading a book as there's nothing much to do while your family are on a business trip while holidaying at the same time. You didn’t want to go since you weren’t a fan of flying due to the incident that happen on the plane. The reason you stay at home and read a book is because you love to read when there's nothing to do apart from watching random videos on the internet. The thought of walking was a great idea with the environment outside but however you were not walking mood today.
Your friends were either on holidays or pretty busy doing their hobbies since it is the holidays after all. But since you have chores to manage and you have to take care of yourself, to clean the house once in awhile, go shopping for food and learn how to cook which at least it went well for you. Which slowly you learnt despite there’s no one else plus you can’t just eat takeaway food and spends hundreds per week. But on the bright side you get time to yourself and able to relax without the hassle of school and the dramas at home.
You later decided to go to the mall cause why not, since you wanna buy some stuff for your car and some extra food so that you don’t need to later plus you btter get things over and done with.
You went out to your car which is dark blue with a classic standard interior with dark grey dashboard. The reason why is that you just rather get started on a small and cheap car before you can move to the more expensive one. You hop into your car and you drove out heading towards the motorways which is oddly convenient that it place nearby your house but far enough away to hear the nosies. The traffic is pretty normal as usual, but you start feel a little bored so you decided to turned on the radio and listen to the morning tracks and news as you change the channels. As a romantic music comes on you start to end up thinking about having a girlfriend, but unfortunately no one you knew had shown interest in you, well if you know about it during high school but unfortunately you don’t have a crush on anyone at all. You were a nice kid since elementary after seeing a the nice things done to other people and to you as well and made so many great friends and you cared for everyone and also shared your things when others need most. You felt that you wanted a best friend, type relationship, but not just that, but a girlfriend who would care for you and look out for you.
You arrived at the mall, you hop out of your car and headed up stair to the car/hardware store to buy things for your car. But when you walk off busy looking at some posters you accidentally bumped into a teenage girl your age.
“Oof”
“Hey, watch it buddy," said the girl.
“Sorry… I, oh hi Rainbow,” you calmly spoke while recovering.
“Whoops, sorry I didn’t know it was you Tim.”
Rainbow Dash was a best friend of yours in high school, she hangs out with you sometimes, but however you sometimes get beaten on 1v1 sports especially soccer. You’re also friends with her other five friends with Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity and Twilight Sparkle.
“So what are you doing in this store Rainbow Dash?”
Rainbow Dash started to blush, “Well, I am… just… well it just… well, I’m just getting stuff hehe.”
“She’s just getting stuff for her car,” another voice said.
“Hi Applejack,” you respond.
“Hi Tim, we’re just getting some stuff since she’s getting her car ready for….”
“APPLEJACK!” Rainbow shouted, but not too loud.
“Hehe, sorry anyway, we best be going.”
“Ok,” you say.
“What just happen?” you spoke to yourself.
“That was close Applejack”
“What are we even doing here Rainbow?”
“There’s a few things I need to grab before we head on out tomorrow.”
“Really, you know we’re going in my car right?”
“Why not mine?”
“I don’t think it would be a great idea to bring a city car in a country town.”
“Yeah, so.”
“So when you gonna tell him?”
“Tonight I guess.”
“No, I mean the feelings you had for him?”
“Let’s not worry about that for now.”
You grab your things and pay at the checkout then left the mall to head home. Once you're back home, you started to tune up your car and fix up some things. And you head back inside and get back to reading. Until your phone rings and a text appear on your home screen.
Hi Tim AJ was planning to visit her cousin Braeburn and since I’m coming along as well, but I was wondering you could come along as well since you don’t have much to do right? Plus, we need a mechanic so we can be safe if the car breakdown anyway because we’re going really far. Also we’re leaving tomorrow morning just to let you know. :) RD
“Now, as least I have something to do during the summer holidays,’ you spoke to yourself.
Next Day
The alarm rang off early since you got about 1000 km to travel to get to Braeburn’s place. You get up at 6am and hop out of bed and pack your suitcase ready for travel. You take a quick shower and head to the living room and locking things up just in case.
While you’re waiting patiently for your friends to arrive even though you have a car, but it's better to share one and not waste fuel, you were reading a book on tourism, travel just to see what’s there and along the way and it has a map as well.
“Um, where’s your car Rainbow?” you spoke.
Rainbow Dash rub her neck, “hehe yeah Applejack said that we may be going off roading so my car is not a good idea for that.”
You put your stuff in the trunk and head into the back seat which you’re alone for a while since the other girls are busy at the moment.
“So let’s get going!” Applejack pulls out of your driveway and started to drive out of the city. You stare out the window and watch as the scene goes by. The car is quiet for the moment until Rainbow spoke.
“How far is it gonna take to get there Applejack?”
“Possibly a day cause we’re not gonna make in time if we go out exploring so a day I guess.”
“That’s good news you know,” Rainbow whisper.
“Anyway, what were gonna do while we get there?” Rainbow asked.
“We how about let’s catch up on what you’re being done?” you spoke.
“Not much for me except to help and hanging around with friends,” Rainbow replies.
“Well, this is gonna be a long trip,” Applejack smiles.
It’s been 10 minutes into the trip and already the three of you started to get more bored into the trip already. And none of you spoke since leaving the city as you were thinking of what to say while you're looking outside the window. It was also the same with Rainbow but she seems to be admiring the view.
“So are we there yet?” Rainbow asked.
“No” Applejack Replied.
“What can we do?” Rainbow Repond.
“I don’t know apart from me driving we could play I spy or tell stories or let's talk.” said Applejack.
“Let just catch up on some things” you respond.
“Well, I didn’t do much except working on the farm” Applejack said “Apple Bloom is doing great at school and Big Mac is pretty normal I guess but he seem to be excited for the upcoming ball game at High school.
“I didn’t do much” Rainbow respond.
“K then” you spoke.
Despite travelling always involved waiting and doing nothing much, you and your friends look outside and admire the views as farms and mountains goes by and lots of green grass that look amazing like they weren’t even affected by anything at all. Pretty much living in the countryside seems to be more peaceful and relaxing away from the busy streets of the hustle and bustle and the noise that can keep you up and awake. And no need to worry about the traffic as well, but at least you can get to places quicker rather than to wait. You always lived in the city for most of your time here but you have been to different places with your family, but what you haven’t been to is a rural town far away from any other major cities due to your parents' business works only involved in populated places and not in rural towns.
“So nice in the countryside isn’t it Tim, ” said Applejack.
“Yeah, it's so beautiful and amazing” you respond.
“Well, we'll gonna stop at a small town soon just for a break, plus you can stretch your legs after this long trip so far,” said Applejack.
“So how far now Applejack, cause I think we been going for ages now, I don’t wanna keep sitting here doing nothing,” said Rainbow.
“Well, why not talk to your crush behind you since this is your idea after all,” whispered Applejack.
Rainbow blushed at the answer, “Do I have to Applejack cause I don’t feel confident enough to…”
“He’s your friend and you don’t have to confess yet cause we got another few hours till our first stop plus another, so we got plenty of times,” Applejack respond.
“Ok, fine, I talk to Tim,” Rainbow starts to act a little nervous.
“So Tim, why you didn’t go with your parents because its sound fun though to go a trip somewhere?” Rainbow asked.
“Well the reason I didn’t go is that I’m not good with travelling on a plane since the last time I went,” you respond nervously since you didn’t want to talk about what happen on the plane.
“Come on please, pretty please I wanna hear it,” Rainbow asks nicely.
“Yeah, I wanna hear it too,” Applejack replied.
“OK, but please don’t tell anyone cause it's embarrassing,” you said.
“Don’t worry, we’re your friends remember so you can trust us,” Applejack replied.
“Well, it happen like this….”
You were on a plane to a tropical island for the very first time with your family, even though you were nervous because you are afraid of things to happen.
The plane was a B777 with classic interior and lights, but nice comfy blue seating since this airline just brought a new plane with new seats that can be leaned back and more leg room and easier to sleep in.
“Son you're ok?”
“Yes, Dad, I’m good, but why did we have to sit in economy not getting an upgrade?”
“We can’t sit together as a family and besides, how bad can it be right?”
The plane was being push-back as the safety briefing was under way with some odd thing that the flight attendant did, such as a guy dancing backward while showing how to put a seat belt on. You cringe since that is really what you didn’t expect to see everyday on a flight trip for a guy dancing awkwardly. But at least it gets people's attention to look at what he is showing.
“At least that's over,” you spoke to yourself.
The plane took off at a steady rate and after the seatbelt sign was off, food was given out to all the passengers early. But at the same time turbulence was occurring causing you to get a little airsick due to the motion of the plane keep going up and down like a minor earthquake on the ground. Luckily the flight attendants didn't have anything fall off the trolley and spill any drinks on the floor.
“Dad, can I drink some water,” you asked.
“Son, I don’t think it's a good idea, trust me it will only make it worse.”
That’s mean you had to try not to vomit for the next 6 hours on the flight, which was what you're not hoping for at a time like this, especially that you can't do much at all to deal with the air sickness. But then suddenly another turbulence but this time it was hard and unfortunately a barp bag was flying suddenly in the air from another seat and hit your father in the face from the front. Causing it to explode and all its content spread around everywhere on his face and the seats around him and also onto you as well.
“Sorry I couldn’t hold it much longer cause I need another one”
Applejack and Rainbow look at you with a disgusted look on their face, but Applejack turns around to pay attention to the road.
Despite your story may could have gone worse if you did on the plane, which you glad you didn’t at least there’s no more of that to tell hopefully.
“That’s really not a good reason why not to go unless you're talking about…”
“No, it doesn’t matter,” Rainbow said.
“Anyway, how did you and Rainbow become friends?” Applejack said.
“Well its…” you said.
“No leave it another time” Rainbow interrupts.
“I tell you soon,” Rainbow whisper to Applejack.
“What’s with the whispering today?” you spoke
“It's nothing to worried about so don’t worry.” Applejack smiled
You start to see something suspicious about your best friends, they didn’t act like this usually when they are around you, but you still trust them and you decide to not worry about it for now since it's probably just something not important to you.
“Finally!” Rainbow shout.
Hopefully this road trip gets better than the holiday you took with your parents. But however you were kinda worried about that you're from the city and people might look at you differently but you shrug it off anyway. As long as nothing goes wrong, it's all smooth sailing from here.
The town ahead was pretty small compared to the city, most buildings were classic western country wooden buildings like you seen in some cowboy movies but however this has a modern twist into it. Also a quiet one as well since you don’t see many people moving and there wasn’t much activity happening as you expected.
As you and your friends approaching the town, you admired the view outside as fields of crops and colored of different crops in fields spread out along the flat and the hills and different coloured barns past by mostly red or wooden brown. In town, streets of classic wooden buildings lined up perfectly in white and brown painted colour. People going about doing their things and children playing tag along the paths under the shades or hotel and inns.
“First time I went through here,” Applejack spoke.
“Yeah, I have no clue where we are,” Rainbow said.
“Let’s get something to eat, then fill up our car before we head out again.” Applejack spoke.
You just stay silent and continue to look out the window until the car stop in front of a café store. The outside was also a building that was similar to what a hotel would look like but in the wild west type of look being put into it. It had two big glass windows on each side with the image of a coffee cup put on them with the name of the café. Garden party chairs and table are place outside matching the colour of the building with flowers on its vases that was purple.
You and your friends walk in and you we’re surprised that it looked like a café from a city center would look like. The interior was mostly just wooden wall and wooden fans on top with the modern lighting that you would see in a restaurant. The seats we’re attached to the wall with a brown fabric to it along with its wooden table and wooden chairs.
You thought to yourself that it might be not a good place to hang out if you or your friend cared for tree cause this place could have been out of business pretty quickly.
The counter was white with retro round seating with the same fabric and there was a tiny wall between the bench that staff use to prepare the meals and the counter that customers can sit and watch from their seats. With green plants grown nicely in a straight line. The wall behind the counter is brick walls that were rough and cut through so that parts stick out and parts stay normal putting a modern touch into it.
“Hi there, what can I get ya?” spoke the employee.
“3 Strawberry Milkshakes please” Rainbow replied.
“Oki Doki” she replied.
“Wait, do I know you?” Rainbow spoke with a more serious tone in her voice.
“Nope, I live around here for awhile so I don’t know you,” she replied with a smile.
Applejack whisper, “I think it's Pinkie Pie.”
“I know it's so obvious, but lets leave her alone for now,” Rainbow whisper back.
The girl wink at you for no reason but you can tell it is Pinkie Pie but you decide not to tell the girls that it is her for now.
The three of you sit down at one of the tables outside the shop, Applejack sits across you while Rainbow Dash Sit next to you on your left. While you three, wait, a group of cowboys started looking at Applejack from the café across the road. You notice that even though she is your friend and you start to notice these guys seem to be troubling you predict. The one who’s probably the leader of the group was wearing a brown hat and a blue and white checkered shirt, with dark blue jeans and boots that match the hat but with the golden spurs at the back. While the rest of his crew wore the same thing, but the different colored checkered shirt and there were three of them who are friends of the blue shirt guy. The leader of the gang was leading and was giving a smirk after what he had seen which you think Applejack wouldn’t be happy about.
“Umm Applejack,” you spoke breaking the silence.
“Yes, anything wrong?” Applejack replied.
Rainbow Dash look at Applejack and give her the look of “Don’t you do it” face.
“There’s some guys across the road looking at you very odd,” you spoke.
Rainbow Dash turn to the direction you were looking and notice it as well.
“Oh boy you're right Tim, we better think of something cause this guy is trouble and I can tell cause he got other boys with him.”
“Are you certain about this sugarcube?” Applejack asked.
You and Rainbow Dash nod and Applejack keep her cool and act naturally to the situation she was in.
“I might gonna go to our car and get something,” you spoke.
“I don’t know should I come along too,” Rainbow asked.
“No, I think I can handle myself,” you replied.
“I wouldn’t go alone, you remembered how I won some sporting events at school,” Applejack said.
You remembered that time since Applejack won the 100m sprint, long jump and other sports you can think of that she had participated. You know her strengths and if she was able to do that then these cowboys can too. You did race against Applejack once just for fun, but she was able to beat you nearly every time you can remember.
“Ok Rainbow you can come along,” you sigh.
“Thanks Applejack, you know we’re spying right,” She whispers to Applejack.
“Don’t worry, I can handle on my own, and Pinkie is nearby to watch me if she is Pinkie Pie,” Applejack spoke.
“You're sure?” Rainbow asked.
“Rainbow she’s gonna be alright, don’t worry,” you said.
You and Rainbow casually walks across the road and head towards Applejack car park right in front of the cowboys standing there like they’re waiting to move in. You both continue to act naturally until you forgot something, you forgot to ask Applejack for her car keys. You were hopeful that Rainbow got Applejack spare car keys on her since your cover (of spying) will be blown.
As you and Rainbow arrived at the back of the car, Rainbow unlocks it with her key she got from Applejack which was a spare. You sigh in relief that you don’t have to stay here alone or awkwardly walk across the street.
You both look at each other and nod as you to pretend to search the car to grab something out of the car. But however the leader of the “gang” had just walked past you and give you a look that you figure out that it was a thank you gesture.
You look at Rainbow and she looks at you with the same look like you both mess up something and can’t go back now to warn in time.
“Uh oh,” you said with a nervous face.
Rainbow look at you with confidence, “Don’t worry, just look what she is about to do if he dares do anything questionable.”
“Let’s head back when it's all clear,” you suggest.
“Yeah, I wanna watch this guy,” Rainbow Dash said.
You both sit at a nearby bench after closing the trunk, of course, but Rainbow brought out her Camera from the car which was a cyan coloured with the cloud and rainbow on it.
Back at the café the employee knew was happening and decided to wait until it's a good idea to bring out the order.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you buddy,” she whispers to herself.
“Can I get more water please, thank you,”
Her return to continue working as she set the milkshakes back on the counter for later, except one which she bring out to where Applejack is.
“Here you go,” She spoke.
“Thanks,” Applejack responded.
Before Applejack was about to take a sip out of her milkshakes, a guy comes in a put his leg on a seat opposite to her.
“Hey there pretty,” he say in a flirting way.
“Oh, hi there, I didn’t even see you coming,” Applejack responded naturally.
“So what brings you here from another farm,” he said.
“I’m just sitting here taking a break.” Applejack spoke.
“Hmm, what’s your name pretty.”
“I’m Applejack and what’s yours.”
“Me, they called me Benny the most strongest and handsomest boy in town who can be able to catch a bull 100 feet away and carry it with my strong arms,” he said while being cool at the same time.
Meanwhile
“...And I think she is pretty good at handling these situation,” Rainbow said.
“She was able to knock off a guy when he try to do something,” Rainbow said.
“Like what?” you asked curiously.
“Well watch and see,” Rainbow said.
While Applejack sits and pretend to enjoy all this talking, she is sipping her milkshakes until she decided to go inside and grab her friends milkshake and save it for later.
“I be right back,” Applejack said while bringing her milkshake with her as well.
“Excuse me”
The staff pops her heads up suddenly from behind the counter with a smile on her face.
“Yes”
“I take these in a takeaway cup for later,” Applejack said.
“I already did,” she brings up the milkshakes in two soda cup.
“How did you know?” Applejack asks with suspicious look on her.
“I can tell, your friends are over there chatting while you're just sitting here all alone until that guy shows up and…”
“Ok, ok, it's all good thanks” Applejack grab the milkshake that was placed in a cup holder box.
“Wait, you forgot this,” She grabs and place another milkshake that Applejack drank earlier, which somehow she managed to pour them into another one very quickly than any other staff can do.
Applejack walks out the café and doesn’t pay attention to Benny sitting there chatting with his friends behind him and he doesn’t notice. She places the milkshakes in the car after unlocking it and close the door behind her and then suddenly he appears after she shut the door.
“Wanna come with me to the farm and see me doing some cool stuff other guys can’t,” he says.
“No thank you sugar I got stuff I need to do,” said Applejack.
“Look, come on you're beautiful and you and I can have a great future together. And I let your friend come along as well,” he said raising his eyebrows.
Applejack was getting angry to the point that if he had crossed one of the lines that if he say one thing about her friends, he was toast. But however, suddenly Rainbow Dash runs up and yelled, “THAT’S IT YOU HAVE JUST CROSSED THE LINE BUDDY.”
Then Rainbow Dash push Benny out the road and then she then tie him up with a rope that was from the car before swinging him round and round, making him fly in the air like he was a ball about to be launched which until she lets go and he end up went flying high and landed in a belly flop position in a nearby muddy puddle which was empty and deep. And Benny was covered in mud all over him with his back somehow to stay less muddy than his front shirt.
Applejack jaw was open as she wasn’t expecting that to happen. “How did you do that?”
“What its simple.” “AND DON’T YOU MESS WITH US AGAIN BUDDY PAL,” she yelled towards Ben after answering the question Applejack asked.
You were also surprised and shocked to this as you saw Benny’s friends just ran for their lives after they saw what had happened.
Rainbow Dash walks back to you all calm down and grab you by the hand, “Come on Tim, let’s leave before this loser try anything else.” You were still stunned to what Rainbow had grabbed your hand but it didn’t matter to you at the moment.
“Well, let’s get out of here,” Applejack spoke.
The three of you hop back in the car and left the town as quickly as you could as you and your friends continue back on the highway.
“Wait, what about filling up the car?” you asked.
“We can make it to the next town,” Applejack replied.
