The Fallen Knight of Old
The end of Fire
Load Full StoryNext ChapterRestarting the Age of Fire, that’s my one duty of my life. I was tasked to defeat the Lords of Cinder and return them to their thrones, in turn, I will become the new Lord of Cinder. Then I’ll go link the flame and restart the Age of Fire.
But why? By restarting the age all of this will just happen again, the fire will go dim again, another ashen one will rise and re-link the flame again, and the cycle will repeat itself for all eternity.
But there’s another way, I found it in the books of old that mention of another age, the Age of Dark. I have asked the Firekeeper about this but she gave me a half answer. That is until I found the eyes of the old Firekeeper and gave them to her. She then told me that the eyes will show her visions of betrayal and a world of dark, She then asked me if this was what I wanted.
With this I found a way out, a way to break this cycle, I told her yes and she said she will help me with this. Now with a plan in mind, I headed off to continue my quest and maybe end the cycle once and for all.

I looked up at the ruins that I found after the past few weeks in the Everfree. These ruins look like nothing that I have seen before, they look older than the time when the princesses were young. I opened my notebook and starting writing some notes down, getting every detail of the place before heading inside.
“Why are you just writing in your notebook again?” the woman asked me in an annoyed tone. I sighed and looked at the teal-haired woman. She wore what looks like stage outfit for one of her magic shows. “The Great and Powerful Trixie has a limited amount of time that she can spare for the likes of you.”
‘'When I found you all you were doing was drinking booze.’ I thought as I closed my book. “I was just writing down some notes for later.”
“Well would you hurry up, you said that Trixie was here to read something but all Trixie has done was standing in some mud.” she said.
“Why did I hire you again?” I muttered as I looked at her. Her stage outfit was a dark blue latex corset that a magician assistant wears, it also hugs her body tightly with a star pattern cape and magician that on her head.
“Why in the name of Celestia’s Sun are you wearing that?” I asked her.
“You told Trixie that you need help right away so Trixie didn't have time to change.” she said crossing her arms.
“It looks like you came out of a strip joint.” I pointed out.
“Your point being miss Daring?” Trixie said. “I read your books and you have done some interesting things.”
“How do you know that?” I asked her.
“The Perceptive and Keen-Eyed Trixie can read between the lines.” she boasted. I rolled my eyes at her.
“Just remember; after this, you don't tell anyone about this, got it,” I said to her.
“Trixie's lips are sealed, as long Trixie gets her cut,” she said. I nodded at her as the two of us headed over to the ruins.

I returned to the Firelink Shrine after my journey in Lothric Castle and defeating the Lord of Cinder. I looked around to see that the place still looks the same from the last time I been here but there was this odd feeling in the air that I can’t put my finger on.
Shrugging I headed over to the last throne and place the head of the young prince on it. Looking around at all the thrones and the heads of each of the lords that I slain. Sighing, I headed over to Ludleth of Courland, the one Lord of Cinder that didn’t abandon his throne.
"Ahh, well met. All is as planned, is it not? Five lords for five thrones... To think others might ne'er be raised…” he said as he looks at the other thrones. I nodded and handed him the Soul of the Twin Princes, he took it and used the Transposing Kiln to forge a blade that I have seen before, one that almost killed me a number of times. I took Lorian’s Greatsword and gave it a few test swings before putting it in my bag that’s magically enchanted to hold any number of items that I come across my journey, I turned to him as he started to speak again. “To think others might ne'er be raised... And I, of the Last Lords, a rather little lord, most undeserving of the honour. Speak with the Fire Keeper."
I gave him one last bow before heading to the Firekeeper, ready to end this journey. When I got to her she started to speak.
“The five lords sit their five thrones. All thanks to thee, most worthy of lords. Ashen one, with the Lords as thy witness, bend thy knee afore the bonfire's coiled sword. And let the Lords' embers acknowledge thee as their true heir. A true lord, fit to link the fire." she said. I nodded and walked over to the bonfire and kneeled down in front of it. The Firekeeper walked up beside me and looked out to the thrones.
“Noble Lords of Cinder.” she started, I saw out of the corner of my eye that Ludleth caught on fire and turned to ash as the Firekeeper continued.
“The fire fades...and the lord's go without thrones.” slowly all of the heads on the thrones to caught on fire and slowly started to burn.
“Surrender your fires...to the true heir.” I saw ember started to float down to her as the room went dark, the only light was the bonfire in front of me. The embers floated to her hands and turned into a small flame, she turned to mean and held the flame over my head and poured it over me. I felt a warming power go through me as I closed my eyes.
“Let her grant death… To the old gods of Lordran, deliverers of the First Flame." With that, she stopped speaking. I opened my eyes and saw that I was still was in the Firelink shrine but it changed. Pathways that once I could walk through were now blocked off with rubble, the Firekeeper was nowhere to be seen and the place was quite, very quite.
I proceeded forward out of the place to the outside to see a breathtaking sight. A blazing red sun with a black center that seems to go on forever. Around me were the places I been only smashed together and looked like the whole world has been brought to one place.
I walked over to the nearby bonfire and put my hand out, the ashes swirled around me as I was transported to the Kiln of the First Flame, the final place of my journey.

“Ugg, why is there so many cobwebs?!” Trixie yelled again as the two of us walked through the hallway. I groaned at the fact that she asked that about twenty times.
“For the Twentieth time Trixie, we are in ruins there’s supposed to be cobwebs,” I said annoyed at her. She crossed her arms and huffed childishly.
“You would think that someone would get rid of them.” she said.
“No, Trixie it’s… never mind.” I said as we came up to another door. “Okay Trixie, do your thing.”
Trixie walked up to the door and spread her arms out. “The Great and Powerful Trixie commands you to open your doors!” She then started to say a few words in a different tongue, the ruins on the door started to glow in a teal colour and slowly open. Trixie turned to me and smiled with pride. I rolled my eyes as I walked passed her and headed down the hallway. Odd that there weren't any traps that we ran into.
We turned a few corners with a few more annoying clips from Trixie complaining again. After a few minutes we came up to what looked like a grand entrance of some sorts but it was blocked by fallen rubble.
“Great~.” I sighed as I looked around at the place. I walked up to one of the walls and saw images drawn on them telling what I can guess is someone's story. I remembered some of the rooms that we passed that looked like there were some open coffins in them so I’m guessing that this place is some kind of crypt of some kind and the markings on what’s left is that the next room has to be a room that holds someone or some people who're that of nobles.
“Look here, Trixie has found a way in!” Trixie yelled.
“Good, now we can go in and- gaa!” I yelled out at the sight. Trixie has taken her hat and cloak off and was halfway into the small tunnel with her ass sticking out at me. Her outfit left nothing to the imagination.
“What?” she asked.
“Are you sure that you don't want me to go first?” I asked her.
“Trixie has found the small tunnel so Trixie goes first,” she said as she wiggled into the tunnel. “Besides, Trixie can make a light.”
“Fine, just hurry up will you,” I looked away. “I don't want to stare at your fat ass as I crawl.”
“How dare you calling Trixie’s ass fat,” Trixie yelling in the tunnel. “The Busty and Curvy Trixie has a fantastic ass, one that ever womans only dream to-”
“JUST KEEP CRAWLING BEFORE I START KICKING YOU!” I yelled. She yelp and starting to crawl faster. I asked myself why I hired her to help me only to remember that she was the only one that will do this at short notice.
With a sigh, I got onto my hands and knees and started to crawl after her into the unknown.

I reappeared in a different location, I looked around to see where I was; behind me was more of the building from before, stacked together and destroyed. I walked forward and lit the bonfire in front of me as I did so many times before. I looked up at the path I’m about to take before I started walking.
It was odd, this was the first time I walked this pathway but I felt like I done this so many times before, in the footsteps of so many others before me. I continued to walk forward until I came to a broken archway and saw an open field littered with discarded weapons and what look like burnt tree stumps. Some distance away I saw a being sitting in front of an ever burning bonfire, waiting for me.
I kneeled down and started to rifle through my stuff to make sure I had everything; I had the Fume greatsword at the ready as I had a few Gold pine resins and three Pale pine resins, my Estus flask was at the ready just in case as I looked up at the figure. My knuckles tightened a bit as I started to make my way to the figure.
The being saw me and stood up, I now saw that this being was taller than me by a few feet as it reached out and took hold of the coiled sword in the bonfire. I grabbed one of the Gold pine and used it on my sword, lightning coursed through my blade as it danced around it. The figure pulled the sword out from the bonfire and wasting no time it charged towards me.
(Optional)
The lord ran up to me and lunged forward, swinging his blade at me. I rolled under him to dodge his strike and came around with one of my own. He deflected my hit and countered as his blade burst into flames.
The hit sent me back as the pain of its strike made me bit down a bit to push through the pain. I looked up as the lord charged at me trying to impale me with his sword. I rolled to the right of him as I brought the Fume down on him, my greatsword my deal a lot of damage but it was heavy and hindered my movements a bit.
My sword slammed into his side, sending him into a pile of weapons. Giving him no time to react I changed and gotten a few more hits in before the lord retaliated. I backed away and was at the ready for whatever it has in stored. The lord of Cinders sword glowed as it changed from a sword to a staff. He raised the staff up into the air and seven orbs of light came out of him. He began to circle around as five of those orbs launched themselves towards me like arrows. I rolled away from them just to be hit by a larger one. Landed on another pile of weapons before I pushed myself up to see the lord watching me. I got up and held my weapon to see the resin has faded.
Taking the chance I charged at him with my weapon at the ready. The lord brought the staff up as a large greatsword appeared on top of the staff and swung at me. I rolled just as the blade flew over my head, I lunge forward at the end of my roll into the lord. He took a few steps back as I pushed forward to attack him again. Doing the same action his staff turned into a curved sword.
The lord strikes out at me with a completely different set of attacks. He spun around and strike at me with several attacks. I backed away as I felt the blood pour out of my wounds. I took my flask and took a few drinks from it, the wounds closed themselves as I put it away and held on my sword.
I charged at him with my sword as he launched all of those orbs at me, I rolled toward them as they hit the ground and kept going. I swung my sword at him as he did the same to me. After a few swings, he took a few steps back before kneeling down. Backing away and using my flask again the lord took his sword and it changed into a greatsword as well and stabbed the ground, a burst of fire consumed him. I saw him look at me and then charged at me. A few of his swings missed me but as I thought I was getting the upper hand he grabbed me and lift me up. As I struggled his hand caught on fire and a large explosion sent me flying onto the ground. Slowly getting up I saw the lord make what looks like a lightning bolt appeared in his hand. I got ready to move as he thrown it into the sky. I watched it fly up into the sky and split apart and fly towards me. I ran in a large arc and rolled out of the way. Quickly taking another drink of my flask I saw that I almost drank about half of it, I looked over at the lord at he took a leaping attack on me. I rolled out of the was and spun around to hit him. He turned to me and got ready to attack, the fire extended off his sword as I ran away from him. Luckily I escaped the attack but the heat from the attacks was excruciating from where I stood.
When he finally finished his onslaught with an explosion I ran towards him and got a few hits in, only for him to get a few on me. He jumped away from me and tried to launch another bolt into the air. Risking it I ran to him and lunge forward and hit him and took a few more swings. As my last one hits I saw the bolts coming down on me. I rolled away but some of them still hit me. Taking one blind swing I felt my blade hit something. I looked and saw that I hit the lord's side. I heard an echo of a man yelling in pain as the lord fell onto his knees and curled up and turned into ash.
I stood up and saw the soul appeared in my hands, it looked that of a burning golden flame. Bringing it to me I turned to see the last bonfire and made my way to it. As I got there I looked to the side of it and saw a summoning mark that I have seen so many times. I extended my hand out and summoned the Firekeeper, slowly I watched her appeared in front of me. She looked at me for a moment before looking at the bonfire and walked slowly to it, kneeling down to it.
Slowly she began to gather the flame in her hands and held it in her hands and watched it. Soon the place slowly became darker as the fire dimmed.
“The First Flame quickly fades.” she began to say as I watched her.
“Darkness will shortly settle, But one day, tiny flames will dance across the darkness.” With this I knew what she meant, the age of fire will return and with that, the cycle will restart again. That was fine, I did my part in this so maybe something will happen differently
“Like embers, linked by lords past," she said as she looked over at me. I watched as one of the embers floated over to me and landed on my armor. Soon my vision began to darken as I fell onto the ground.
"Ashen one, hearest thou my voice, still?"

“This is so boring.” Trixie groaned as I looked around the room. The room by large look like any other room, open, filled with cobwebs and drawings, the same old stuff you see in some ruins. The only odd thing was that there was this large black slab of something in the middle of the room
“I never said that this sort of thing was going to be fun, now did you get the door open yet?” I asked her.
“No,” she said annoyed.
“Well try again,” I told her.
“Trixie tried! Trixie said some magic words, made some hand signs, even asked nicely but nothing happened!” she said.
“Did you try to open the door by hand?” I asked her.
“Did you see that door?!” Trixie yelled as she pointed at the large door. It was a large double set stone door that looked like they can crush someone just by falling on them. “They’re like fifteen inches thick! How in Celestia can I open that?!”
I sighed and looked at the door for a moment, it was true that this thing was big and it would take something strong to open it, made a truck with some horsepower or a very strong Terran to push it open. I looked back at the slab again and got a closer look. It didn’t look like it was special other than the top end looked like some sort of handle, maybe it was some sort of club? No, it’s too flat to be a club, it looked like a sword almost.
What was odd about it was that by looking at it, it was placed here quite recently.
“Are you done here?” Trixie asked me. “There’s nothing here other than cobwebs and dust, I thought there would be something interesting that would happen like in those books you're in but so far there’s nothing.”
“Not everything in the books is real Trixie, that’s why their fiction.” Although I have to put in other stuff to make things exciting for the readers.
“Well if you're done with your looking can we go?” She said as she walked up to the black slab and put her hand on it. She yelped in pain as she brought her hand to her. “Ow~ that hurts.”
“Put your hand on a sharp piece?” I asked her. Her hand glowed in a teal colour as she looked at the slab.
“No, this thing is… hot? Hot to the touch.” she said. I looked at the slab confused. As I looked at it I did saw that there was some distortion coming off it, like the stuff you see on a hot day. I put my hand near the slab and felt heat coming off it.
“What the? Why is it- wait did you hear that?” I said as I thought I heard something.
“Hear what?” Trixie asked me.
“Shh, listen,” I said to her. We waited a few moments before I hear what sound like footsteps. I looked around and saw that there were holes that lead to the other chamber beyond the stone door. Now the question is, who’s over there?
“A-are we safe?” Trixie asked, sounding scared.
“I believe so like you said those stone doors look impossible to open by hand.” as I said this the footsteps stopped and there was a groan of some sorts. The stone doors slowly started to open. “Or not.”
“WE’RE GOING TO DIE!!” Trixie yelled as she started to run around screaming in a panic. I grabbed her and stopped her.
“Trixie! Stop yelling, we’re not going to die!” I yelled back. She didn’t say anything as we both looked at the doors as they opened up so something can walk through them. What I saw was odd.
A being the same height as me walked out of the room in what look like old armor. The being looked around for a bit not noticing us.
“We’re going to die, we awakened some sort golem that’s was guarding this place,” Trixie said scared. The being looked over at us for a moment before looking at the slab that was near us. It walked over to it and grasped the handle of it. I winced at the thought of it grabbing it but I didn’t see it in pain or any sound, oddly I heard it breathing. Slowly but surely it pulled the slab out of the ground and held in on its shoulder.
“That thing alone looks like it weighs more than a ton,” I whispered in surprise. The being looked around a bit before walking over to a wall and hits it with the pommel of the slab. The wall slowly disappeared, showing a hallway out of the room. The figure then started to walk down the hallway to wherever it leads. I looked at Trixie for a moment.
“Did you know that there was a fake wall there?” I asked her.
“No, did you?” she asked me. I look back at the hallway that the being just took and shook my head.
“Well, at least I have something to put into my book,” I said as I started to follow the being out of the room.
“H-hey! WAIT!” I heard Trixie yell out. I ran down the hallway until I found a hole in the wall that leads to the outside. I went out and looked around just to see the woods around us and no sight of the being. Trixie came to a stop behind me panting. “What… are you… doing?”
“That’s not important, right now we need to tell the princesses,” I told her.
