Prologue

64 years later…...

The sun shined brightly down on the peaceful land of Equestria. It was a large resourceful island nation. Everyone was going about their daily lives and happy to be a citizen of such a beautiful and nourishing country.

The world had advanced tremendously in technology and people barely remembered nor cared about the terrible events that plagued the world decades ago.

The capital,Canterlot,was busier than ever. The castle where the Loving and long-lived Princess Celestia lived was surrounded by miles and miles of city.

The world was industrialized and the economy was booming.

It was 2009 and Equestria and most of the world had built cities and moved farmland back and made land for factories and drilling oil. Now today Equestria was just as industrialized as the rest of the world.

As an SUV drove down the highway,A young mare lay on the door and stared out the window."Momma, why can't grandma move where we live?"asked the mare from the back seat."Because sweetie,grandma loves where she lives and doesn't want to move"said the mare driving."Why can't we move to Ponyville then"?asked the younger mare.

The mother of two looked into the mirror and smiled at her youngest daughter,Sugar Sprinkles."Because,what would daddy do without us near him"?she young mare grinned."Yea!""He'd go crazy without us"!. Scarlett Candy smiled,knowing her mother would be happy to see them again .She glanced in the rear-view mirror,seeing her older daughter Red Cakes staring out the window."Why are you so quiet,honey?"asked Scarlett.

Red Cakes shrugged,not knowing the answer either."It's alright Red Cakes,I know you wanted to spend the summer with your friends but your grandmother wanted to see you guys"said her mother. The mare ignored her and she continued looking out the window.

The SUV continued driving down the highway along the beautiful country side.60 years ago,the world was far more ahead in technology than Equestria. The majority had been farmland and the people prospered under the beautiful Celestia and Luna. It wasnt advancing in technology like other countries but they focused on their agriculture constantly. Countries looked on with little interest as Equestria stayed away from political and government matters,as the ponies happily farmed and nourished their land. They had a Princess,that was all they needed. But as the 1930s drew to a close, another nation was gaining interest in Equestria's massive supply of resources and sustenance. That nation…...Was GerMANEy (Formerly Germaneigh).

Up in the great north on the continent of Gallop,A man by the name of Adolf Discord had been elected leader.

He knew Germaney was capable of many things,even becoming the most powerful force on the planet. He spoke out to his people about how weak the country was and that he would make them great and rise above the rest of the world. He had a way of making people listen to him his powerful speeches. He founded the National Socialist Germane Workers Party

He also had a deep hatred for Alicorns and Pegasi. After he came to power he began to rant on about how Pegasi were holding back the country's potential.Germaney hate laws were passed and Pegasi were soon hunted down and imprisoned.

As Adolf took absolute power,he began to form an even larger military than before. As the army grew,he began to attract the attention of many young stallions. Unicorns and Earth Ponies alike soon joined the ranks. He formed his own personal division of the military,The Waffen-SS,Including officers he trusted and Stormtruppen.The factories began building tanks,trucks,and airplanes. The world would soon find out how powerful and submissive the nation had become….

The SUV drove down the road into the once-famous town.A sign to the right read Welcome to Ponyville.After a while Scarlett turned down a street and began driving to their destination. The street was crowded full of houses and neighborhoods."We're here"!Sweetie Pie yelled cheerfully as their mother parked the car in a small driveway. Red Cakes rolled her eyes as her mother turned the car off and began taking out the bags. She looked at a old sign hanging near the building,it read:Sugarcube Corner.It didn't look like the place was open anymore and was run down."Red,darling"said Scarlett."Could you help your sister out the back?"she asked."Sure mother,why not?"she replied .Red unbuckled her five year old sibling and lifted her up out the car.

She trotted up to the door and rang the buzzer then turned around to help her mother carry the bags in. Sweetie Pie stood at the door eagerly jumping up and d own. Soon enough,a small opening appeared in the window curtains and before the door unlocked and slowly opened up.A very old mare stood at the door with a cane and a sweet smile. "Granny Pinkie"! Squealed Sweetie Pie as she grabbed the woman by the legs and hugged her tightly."Hello Sweetie"said Pinkie Pie as she tightly squeezed her granddaughter."Happy Birthday!" Sweetie Pie cheered. "Thank you dear" said Pinkie soon walked in and hugged her mother.

"Happy Birthday,Mom" she said sweetly."Yeah…..uh h-happy birthday" said Red Cakes. They handed her her gifts and she slowly opened them. After all,she was 85. "Oh a pie recipe book!" said Pinkie surprised and hugged her granddaughters."Thank you dears,this is perfect"she said."I've wanted to see you both for so long"."Alright mom i've got a few errands to run and i'll bring the cake tonight for dinner"said Scarlett Candy."Alright,honey"she replied."What should we do now?" asked Red Cakes."Tell us a story!" said Sweetie Pie jumping up and down."That doesn't sound like a bad idea actually"said Red Cakes sitting on the rug next to her sister."Well alright,,,there is one i could tell...its about me when i was young and brave".Said Pinkie sitting back in her rocking chair."I was with my friends and that's all that mattered during a time of total….chaos"."Uh mother...you sure this story is appropriate for them to hear,maybe a tad too intense?"asked Scarlett."Relax honey,it's time they heard it" she said sitting back in her chair and trying to remember.

Equestria, 1939

Celestia stood on the balcony of her castle,horrified at the sight before eyes. Her eyes begin to flood with tears as she had never seen nothing like this before. loud explosions could still be heard far off as the Germane bombers pounded the beautiful countryside with thousands of pounds of explosives. she heard people screaming below as they stood in shock at the oncoming wave of Luftwaffe planes .

The royal guard surrounded the castle and fortified the entrances .They set up cannons and catapults wherever they could."Princess"!"We must go now"!"We have to get you somewhere safe"!.yelled a pegasus guard grabbing her shoulder."T-These people"..."They need me"...she replied stuttering"."Their fate rests In your hands"!shouted the guard."Let's go,your highness!".Celestia ran inside the castle with the guards protecting her at all sides. She rushed through the throne room and down towards an underground path that lead to the dungeon. "Where's my sister"?said Celestia firmly stopping at the entrance."She went out for her afternoon stroll and hasn't returned mistress"!assured the guard. "Please let us take you away"! "We're sending someone to look for her now!".Celestia swerved her head to look at the big iron entrance. "Then why are the castle doors barricaded!?"Celestia shouted.

Suddenly two loud thunderous explosions rocked the building. She heard a guard scream "They're here"! outside before another incredibly loud explosion shook the castle."I'm here"!shouted a voice from behind Celestia. As she spun her head around a tremendous explosion erupted around them and the castle roof collapsed . The guards around her told her to stay down as another explosion hit and chunks of the castle crushed the throne room. As the smoke cleared,Celestia looked around her to see guards crushed to death and others helping each other up from the rubble. Then she saw something that made her scream. Her beloved sister was trapped under a large chunk of stone,crushing her legs as she screamed in pain."Luna"! shouted Celestia running to her. She tried to move the boulder by pushing against it,but Luna only screamed louder."Aaaaugggh!""Stop!"Your making it worse"!she screamed as tears poured down her face."I'm sorry"!said Celestia as she started to cry as well. Another explosion shook the building as a Heinkel-177 unloaded it's payload,crushing another part of the royal structure. Luna started feeling faint as blood began pouring from her wounds."Hold still!","I'm going to levitate it off"! Said used her magic to concentrate on the massive piece of rock in front of her and slowly it began to rise a few inches."I'm doing it!"Celestia said happily."Someone grab her!".Before any of the guards could react, yet another explosion hit the very top of the castle and Celestia lost her focus and the giant boulder fell back down swiftly and smashed Luna's legs. She let out an a cry of excruciating pain as the top of the castle crumbled and fell down into the room,crushing nearly everyone. Celestia let the dust clear as she screamed for her sister's name."Luna!""Luna!"she yelled as she saw her beautiful sister under an even bigger piece of rubble. She was crushed waist down,and was moaning quietly. Celestia ran to her and got down to hold her hoof."Please,don't leave me"said Celestia crying bitterly."I'm right here with you" her sister said."I Always will be"."I want you to run as fast as you can away from here,for…..Equestria" Luna said as tears leaked from her eyes."I can't,Im not strong enough".

"Yes,you are" said Luna smiling through the pain."You always have been".Celestia held her hoof tight as Luna coughed harshly,and moaned at her near crushed legs."You must go on,for our people"!.Celestia wept bitterly as she embraced her sister for what was to be the last time they spoke.A royal guard ran to her and put his hoof on her soldier."My lady!""There's nothing more we can do for her"!"We must leave now or her death was in vain"!he said. Explosions could still be heard just west of the castle, as the bombers carpeted the countryside with bombshells."Yes,we shall leave"said Celestia quickly standing up and composing herself. She wiped her tears away and several royal guards led her down the secret path. She dared not even look back at her sister,for she would not leave her side is she saw her in that condition she was in. She was quickly led down the underground passage as explosions could still be heard above ground,In Canterlot. Soon the Royal Guard had her far away from the Castle. Celestia Gazed back at the burning castle in the distance,with tears in her eyes. She know knew what she had to do and quietly turned away and began walking off.

"Go Celestia!" "I know you can save this nation" Said Luna weakly,as she began to blackout. The rest of the guards and a few civilian stallions cleared the rubble and freed anyone who was trapped. They finally reached Princess Luna and managed to move the boulder crushing half her body. But it was too late,she was gone.

The Present.

Sweetie Pie sat on the floor crying her little eyes out."W-Why would they do that to Princess Luna?"

"Because they were bad people sweetie" said Pinkie stroking her head.

"Whoa,all of this really happened when you were in college"? asked Red Cakes surprised. "Oh yes….i was only 20 at the time!"replied Pinkie Pie."2 years outta high school"."I left Equestria to attend university in the U.S.M"."My friends came with me,Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle"."We later met a mare named Rarity,who was from Great Ponyland"she said."We could tell right away from her accent and she joined in our circle of friends"."We had so much fun together" Pinkie said smiling."Then we heard the terrible news".Suddenly her smile faded and she took a deep breath and stopped rocking in her chair."Home had been attacked" she said with a sad frown on her face."Germaney had hit us out of nowhere and hit us with all they had"she continued."It's like i can still remember all those horrible announcements that came on the radio as if they were yesterday"…

September 9,1939 - Germaney launches an unprovoked assault on Equestria,under the supreme rule of Adolf Discord.The capital,Canterlot is heavily bombed.

September 10,1939 -Great Ponyland declares war on Germaney.The U.S.M remains neutral.

September 12,1939 - All opposing Equestrian forces are crushed by the Germane Wermacht and Luftwaffe. Germaney drives tanks into the capital.

September 15,1939 - Thousands of people flee the country as all of Equestria is conquered by Germaney.

September 22,1939 - Germaney fortifies the island and begins harvesting Equestria's resources.

October 2,1939- Germaney invades Coltia.

October 8,1939-Mustangry joins in an alliance with Germaney

October 14,1939-Coltia is conquered.

"After that, we were so angry and filled with hate we decided to do something about it" said Pinkie pie.

"What do you mean,grandma?"asked Sweetie Pie.

"Be quiet and she'll tell us what happened" said Red Cakes.

Soon after the bombings,The Germane Wehrmacht stormed into Canterlot. One man was leading the assault. General Sombra smirked confidently as the row of tanks rolled down the street. He was perched up in the lead Panzer II tank,and his iron killer glare looked ahead.Germane soldiers began raiding houses and clearing out fortifications where people might hide. Sombra barked orders as a flamethrower trooper torched a house where people were sheltering Royal Guards. Stormtruppen began breaking into Equestrian homes and separating Pegasi from the the rest. Soon the Wermacht had total control over the streets of Canterlot.

(In German)"Sir,We've managed to round up these 13 filthy Pegasus"said a Obergefreiter soldier."Shall we throw them in with the others?".Sombra looked down from atop of his tank with a cold stare.

"No need,commander" he said blankly."Execute these abominations right here,let them be a lesson of Germaney's superior race. The soldier frowned and exhaled slightly."Something wrong,commander"? said Sombra raising his eyebrow in a stern tone."uh…..no..my Generaloberst" said the soldier stuttering."Heil Discord"! he said loudly before walking off to carry out the orders he was given.A squad of soldiers lined up in front of the innocent ponies. They loaded their Kar 98s, and the officer glumly raised down his hoof,and then the shots fired. There were no survivors. Sombra gave a wicked smile before ordering the rest of the tanks to continue patrolling without him. He turned back to the young squad officer."Korporal,have you managed to find Princess Luna and Celestia in the castle ruins?"

All of the nearby infantry stopped what they were doing and turned towards their conversation.

"Preferably alive, i'm hoping?" the General added .

The officer turned back towards him respectfully."Nein sir, we have not yet found…..Celestia".he replied.

"What about her sibling?" Sombra said firmly piercing through the stallion's gaze with his fierce glare.

"I…..uh...t-think...we may…uh ...have found something over here sir"he said stuttering nervously.

"Oh really?"Sombra glanced back carelessly.

"Y-yes sir,I believe Unteroffizier Heiman's squad has found something at the castle"replied the soldier.

Sombra scoffed and climbed out of the top of the tank to step down.

"Well,what are you waiting for soldier?""Take me there!"

The officer quickly apologized and lead him across the street and over a bridge to Canterlot castle,er….. what was left of it."Good day Generaloberst, Heil Discord!" said the sergeant greeting him.

"Where is she?" said Sombra upfront.

"Um….what, sir?" said the soldier acting confused.

"I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR GAMES RUNT ,WHERE IS THE DEAD ALICORN"!? shouted Sombra.

"I'm so sorry my commander!" "I thought you meant the other one that was alive"! he said nervously.

He quickly ordered the soldiers to bring in the long,slender box containing the rare jewel.

"Well,this is what we found"."After the bombers hit it must have colla-

"OPEN IT"! yelled Sombra interrupting him.

The sergeant quickly yelled at his men in retaliation and they opened the coffin.

There she laid,even in death she was still just as beautiful.

Sombra was stricken at first by her beauty,but then he quickly regained his normal grim stature.

"What a shame…..she could have made a valuable bargaining chip"he said coldly.

The soldiers standing around the coffin looked at each other sadly.

"Have your men transport her on the truck"Sombra replied to the officer.

The soldiers quickly closed up the coffin and walked out

"Speaking of bargaining chips sir..."started the officer."We searched the entire castle and found this" he said as he opened a box containing two shiny,valuable looking pieces of jewlery. Sombra's face lit up for a brief moment. He knew exactly what they were. The elements of honesty and loyalty.

"Perfect,well done Unteroffizier" Sombra said as he grabbed the box."Where are the rest of them"?

"We have reason to believe they are in Cloudsdale sir,along with the rest of the royal guard"."The civilian population is also being sheltered there".Sombra stepped back to let the news sink in.

"Hmmm"he said stroking his chin and then began laughing. It was a deep sinister laugh."Then we shall take Cloudsdale….by air"he said grinning evilly. He quickly turned away and marched outside the castle entrance."Get me in contact with the nearest Luftwaffe base"! He said yelling to a radio operator. Before another word was spoken a screaming stallion's voice was heard and Sombra spun around to see a Royal Guard jump from a building towards him. He fell to the ground with a smack as the guard brought his spear down on top of him,only for Sombra to catch it and began forcing it back. Germane soldiers around instantly raised their rifles and looked for the chance to shoot him. "DIE FASCIST PIG"! the young guard yelled as he tried to spear Sombras chest."I….ugh….assure….you..I AM NO PIG"! Yelled Sombra overpowering him and shoving him off. The Korporal instantly raised his hand to give the order to fire."WAIT"!yelled Sombra. He stood up and dusted himself off as he looked the young guard in the eyes."Did you really think you could win"?he said in a serious tone."Why did you do that…?" he asked.

The Royal Guard continued to sit on his knees and glare at Sombra with hate burning in his eyes. The General noticed that he was a Earth Pony,unlike the usual Pegasus guards."Do you know where the rest of the elements of harmony are?" Sombra asked as politely as he could. The guard stared intensely at the soldiers pointing their firearms around him,then turned back to meet Sombra's gaze."Why would I tell you that?"he said finally."You invade my country and kill my fellow Equestrians".Sombra chuckled a little and scratched his chin."Tell you what, I admire your bravery alot"he said."If you tell me where the elements of harmony are...I'll let you join my ranks as a foot soldier..maybe even an officer"."What do you say?". The guard hacked a loogie and spit it at his feet. Sombra's face became filled with rage,and he quickly turned away."Very well then"Sombra said signaling the soldiers. The soldiers aimed at the guard as The officer raised his hand down and they fired."It's Time to show Cloudsdale that they can't hide from Germaney forever" smirked Sombra as he walked back to his tank.

The United States of Mareica.

Pinkie Pie stood bawling by the radio as her and the rest of the Mares in the girls dorm listened to the horrifying news."Canterlot…..has just been heavily bombarded by the German Luftwaffe in an apparent planned invasion"."Germane ships and vehicles have reportedly breached the shores of Equestria and are advancing across the nation" said the radio pony gravely"The Fate of Princess Celestia and Luna are not known at this time"."All we know is the royal guard is fighting valiantly and Cloudsdale is holding off air attacks"."Please stay tuned for more information"said the announcer before the radio went back to playing Jazz music. So the war dragged was 1941, day after day Great Ponyland Suffered defeat after defeat as each one of their ships were sunk in the North Sea.The Germanes held them off with air attacks and their fearsome submarines.U.S.M helped as much as they could by sending supplies across the narrow strip of water. Then it happened.A Germane submarine sunk an Mareican passenger ship,killing 242. President BlueBlood declared war the next day. The APF (Allied Pony Forces) soon began plotting a plan to counterattack and free Equestria.

"Listen,the U.S.M has declared war!" said Fluttershy cheerfully turning the radio up."The Army is assembling and training troops!"she said smiling."Mares and Stallions can join!"

"Pinkie,do you know what this means?" asked Twilight Sparkle hopefully.

Pinkie wiped the teardrops of joy from her eyes.

"Yeah,sign me up"

BONUS SCENE:

September 10,1939

"Therefore,... I believe the next best course of action should be to declare war on the nation of Germaney".The crowd roared with a mix of hate,sympathy, and anger. All across the nation the people had just watched as the prime minister of Great Ponyland had just announced a war on another country."Unfortunately our Allies the United States of Mareica have chosen to remain neutral"he continued."But they will continue to aid us in any way they can".

Shining Armor stepped down from his podium and left the National Speech,leaving millions of people shocked. He quickly walked to his vehicle to be escorted away. He rubbed his mane nervously as people on the streets gave a mixed output of rage and admiration. Most of it was peaceful protesting."Take me to my palace please"he said staring quietly outside the window. After quite some time the carriage stopped and pulled into the gates of Bridle Palace.Shining Armor stepped out of his vessel and began walking on his hind legs up the steps of the palace,thinking intensely about the coming war. He exhaled slowly as he noticed the doors of the palace where already opened.

Then he saw most beautiful mare he had ever laid his eyes on. She had tears on her face and he could tell she had been worried about moment she met his gaze she ran to him and fell into his arms and began sobbing."It'll be alright dear" said Shining Armor comforting his wife.Princess Cadance collected herself and rose her head from her husband's shoulder."Is...there any news about where my aunt is?"she said sniffling."Did she even have a chance to run?".Shining looked at her tenderly and wiped her eyes.

"No,dear there isn't "he replied "I'm sure she's fine"he said convincingly ."All of Equestria loves Celestia dearly and will stop at nothing to protect her".The Princess managed to smile through her tears as her husband hugged her once more before leading her Inside the massive house."It will be okay" said Shining Armor."She is thinking of you this very moment probably and will not rest till she has saved her people"he said stroking her hair. He kissed her on the forehead and walked down the hallway towards the conference room.

"There waiting for you sir"said a Pony opening the door."Thank you"said Shining trotting into the room."Greetings Prime Minister" said all the stallions in the room at once."Ello,my fellow stallions"he said sitting at the head of the table. Aroumd him sat his most trusted generals and political adivisors."Parliament is in a frenzy right now" said the pony to his left."They've all been debating whether to kick you from office or vote if we should we go to war".Shining Armor ignored him and turned to the stallion on his right."General Montgomery,how goes the assembling of the naval and air forces?" he asked."The navy is fully ready for combat" the general replied ."Good….good…" said Shining."Sir,you can't possible believe we can take the North Sea from the Germanes!" protested the pony on the left."Equestria is much too far away and it would take years to launch a counter assault to take it ba-*SLAMM!*.Shining Armor pounded his hoof on the table."I KNOW THE ODDS YOU BLOODY IDIOT!"He shouted.

Everyone at the table jumped back a little."Whos to say we can't win this war without trying?!"he continued."Sir,i never said-"I know exactly what you said!"yelled Shining interrupting him."You thinking avoiding war is the answer!?"he said as he kept ranting. He had been frustrated and worried all day and finally everything was coming out."For crying out loud!" "Germaney just invaded Equestria!"."You'd have to be bonkers to not take action!"."I understand sir….I just think their quarrel is not with us"said his advisor."NOT WITH US!?"."Germaney just attacked a neutral country for its resources!" said Shining angrily."TELL ME,what do you think they will do once they've drained Equestria's precious materials,hmm?"."Leave us alone?"Shining asked."No,sir what i meant to say wa-"EXACTLY!" Shining said shouting"Whether any of you may like it or not, WE ARE going to war!".

"We've watched from the shadows as Discord has poisoned the minds of his people and build up his army,and what have we done about it?"he asked furiously. The room was dead silent."ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!"shouted Shining. After the briefing the former prince asked everyone to leave him alone in solitude for awhile as he gazed from the window. He thought about the coming war,and how many men his country would lose. He thought about the dead Princess Luna,a shocking discovery he was too heartbroken to tell his wife. If only,he….could get Mareica in this war he might have a chance of a quick victory. But as of now it did not seem that way, and perhaps the U.S.M(United Staets Of Mareica) would have to learn the hard way. He knew his sister,Twlight Sparkle was fine because she was at a college in Mareica,but could not imagine how she feeling. Even though they were both born in Great Ponyland, Twilight was captivated by its beauty and moved there with their father when she was a filly. He still worried for her safety daily. He had always had an inkling Discord would try to do something like this. One roll of the dice later and he was attacking Equestria, most ponies ancestry homeland. Perhaps the Soviet Reign Union could assist Great Ponyland,if they havent joined the Axis. One way or another,Germaney had to be stopped. Armor finished drinking his tea and left the room,knowing exactly what he was going to do next.

Chapter 2- The Shores Of Hell

September 16,1939.

The cloud city..

A city of joy and peace.

A place of refuge and hope.

The last place untouched by Germaney.

A siege is coming.

The loud buzzing of Luftwaffe planes could be heard in the distance. Rainbow Dash knew it was over. The reports had come in that all of Equestria had fallen From Canterlot to Appleloosa, Germaney had swept across the nation like a plague and taken what it wanted. It had crushed all resistance in a matter of days,leaving the whole nation in a state of panic and hopelessness.

Cloudsdale was yet to be taken,a strong city soaring above the sky.

And the next target in Adolf Discord's plan for total domination.

The General of the Army,Sombra, knew it would have to be taken by air.

"Get that artillery ready,we have incoming planes!" Shouted a royal guard Captain. The soldiers turned and began loading the outdated cannons towards the skies. The mares,fillies and colts began seeking shelter in the buildings. Yet , many cowardly stallions hid in their presence as well. A few male horses volunteered as the royal guards began passing out their spears.

Yet there was one mare who stood on the edge of the city ready to fight. "You've got to get to safety!" whispered a guard to Rainbow Dash.

"Not a chance!"She said taking a spear. "I will defend my city as long as there is breathe in my body". "Alright,men!". "Get ready,here come the Krauts!" shouted an artillery officer. The brave soldiers braced themselves as thoughts raced through there heads. Was Princess Celestia still even alive? Was all of this still worth it? Yes…..it was. For Equestria!

The approaching sound of the Luftwaffe planes made many stallions break the silence with soft crying. "Hold steady men!' shouted the guard captain. "Give them nothing but your'-AUGGH!" He screamed as a Ju-87 (Stuka) sprayed the area he was standing in with bullet fire, shredding him to pieces. It flew past as another soared overhead and dropped a bomb on the watch tower. It exploded in a huge fireball with chunks of debris and scorched pieces of guards descending down. The royal guard soon began firing back with the slow artillery batteries. "Take out those dive bombers men!" shouted an officer. Another wave of Stukas flew uncomfortable low overhead and some opened fire,striking guards on the ground. The bullets cut through the horses armor and flesh like butter, their entrails and blood soon flying from their bodies and coating the ground."AAAGGHH UHHH…..CELESTIAAAA!"shouted a young guard as blood poured from his gaping stomach wound. The Artillery crews managed to shoot down 3 planes but the dive bombers were too quick and their cannons were too slow. Rainbow Dash looked around at the dead and dying soldiers around her and simply froze. The roaring sound of the artillery cannon and the bombs being dropped on troops by the Stukas was almost too much for her. She had become totally oblivious to everything around her"Hey,lets go soldiers!" yelled the officer next to her. She snapped back to attention and pulled down the protective mask on her face and lept off the edge of the city with the others. They soon soared down below Cloudsdale and the group of them landed on a big cloud. "Alright, you see anything sir?" asked a guard next to Rainbow Dash. "Huh….uh….no" said the officer looking through binoculars. "Wait...what's that noise?"asked Rainbow. They all looked below where they were standing and saw white streaks in the sky. "Another Wave of fighters!" yelled a guard. "Why are they flying below the city?". "It doesn't matter" said the officer.

"We have to do something before the drop their ordnance on Cloudsdale!". The squad of Pegasi silently stood there and looked at each other in desperation,trying to think of a plan. Suddenly Rainbow Dash flipped her mask back down and dove off the cloud. "Wait,what are you doing?" yelled a guard. "It's better than sitting around doing nothing about it" she said to herself. She soared straight down towards the six plane formation and landed on the last Stuka with a loud *THUD!*. (Translated) "Did you hear something hit the wing,Hans?" asked the tail gunner. "Yes,what was that?" the pilot asked.

The tail gunner looked over out the cockpit window and saw Rainbow Dash holding onto the wing."What in the name of Kartoffels!?" he shouted. "There's a filthy Pegasus on the plane!". "What?" Hans yelled as he spun the plane upside down twice. "Wait..I think she may have fallen off" said the tail gunner. "No! "Look Fritz!" "She's on the bottom of the plane,near the engine!". As she held on tightly,Rainbow Dash began stabbing the engine with her spear and tearing out small parts. By then the rest of the guard had joined her and were flying circles as fast as they could around the Ju 87s. "Shoot her!" screamed Hans at Fritz. "She's tearing apart the plane!"."I cant,the gun won't reach her!" Fritz hollered back. Rainbow Dash stopped damaging the engine when it began smoking and a Stuka behind her started trying to shoot her off. She grappled her way to the cockpit window and raised her spear up to it. The stallion pilot inside panicked. She thrusted it hard through the glass and it pierced his chest. Hans slowly slumped over as life left his body,and the plane quickly began descending in the sky. "H-Hail Discord" said Fritz from the back of the cockpit as the plane began spiraling out of control and finally crashed in the fields below. "Good riddance"said Rainbow Dash coldly looking at the downed fighter. Another Stuka began shooting at her and flying swiftly in her direction. She avoided it by quickly flying down and dodging it. The machine-gun fire struck a royal guard that was behind Rainbow and tore his torso in half. Rainbow Dash dove for cover as she hide behind a small,puffy cloud. Two Stukas flewby unaware of her presence. "That was too close" she thought to herself. She watched helplessly from afar as the city tried to make a stand and fight back the oncoming wave of fighter planes. The artillery fired nonstop and was incredibly loud. "Where is Wonderbolt Squadron when you need them?" said Rainbow to herself. Suddenly she heard an enormous noise. It sounded like a thousand giant buzzing wasps. It sounded like doom. She looked above her and saw them. Large Heinkel-111 bombers flying towards the city. "Oh no….I've got to stop them!" she said to herself. She quickly pulled her protective mask down and soared quickly to the nearest bomber. She came near it and landed on one of its wings. Before she could even get near the engines she was seen by the top turret gunner and he started shooting at her. Rainbow Dash tried to dodge the hailstorm of bullets but found herself screaming in pain. "Aaagghh!" she cried out as several bullets pierced through her left wing. She lost her grip and slid off the plane. She became light-headed and began blacking out as she fell from the sky…

June 6, 1942

10 miles off the coast of Equestria.

U.S.M Army 4th Regiment, 12th Division

The air was damp and misty after a light rain. The sky was grey and the seawater shrouded in mystery. Beyond and hidden from sight from the moving vessels spelt out certain doom. But they pressed on. The hundred or so Higgins landing craft (LCVP) moved slowly forward. Not a soul onboard spoke. Rainbow Dash stood staring at the water and finished remembering her flashback on Cloudsdale. Mares and Stallions alike began silently weeping and praying around her. She looked to her right and saw her friend Fluttershy. "Are you gonna be alright,?" She asked. Fluttershy's lip trembled and she looked down at her feet. "Hey" said Rainbow touching her shoulder. "I won't let anything happen to you, okay?" A Mare soldier named Derpy stood behind her, breathing heavily and cocking her rifle. "Geez, everyone's scared to death" She thought. She looked around in the boat craft of about 30 ponies and managed to see a small little purple dragon towards the front. "Where was the Captain?" Rainbow said in her head. It had been a hard 18 months of training and she had become good friends with very few ponies. She finally caught sight of her on the boat to the right. Captain Pinkie Pie stood determined and was yelling words of encouragement to the soldiers around her. Rainbow Dash slightly smiled at that. Pinkie had been so determined to become an officer after so many weeks. The U.S.M had finally declared war after the Germanes had sunk a civilian passenger ship in the North Sea. Discord simply claimed it was mistaken as a Ponyland battleship. President Blueblood declared war the next day. Rainbow Dash joined the Army after arriving in the U.S.M. She soon met up with Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. Rainbow Dash like many others, had fled after the Germanes swept over Equestria. But only after she had stayed and tried to protect her birth city. Now, the Allied Pony Forces (Great Ponyland and U.S.M) were launching a top secret invasion on the northern beaches of Equestria. Codename: Operation D-Day. The plan was to take ground to force the Germanes back and eventually off the continent. It wouldn't be easy.

Rainbow Dash snapped out of her day-dreaming again after artillery shells began exploding in the water around the craft. "This is it, guys!" Yelled a stallion's voice. "Get ready!". All the ponies in the boats began adjusting their guns and readying themselves. Rainbow Dash loaded and cocked her Springfield sniper rifle. She had aced in combat training and was a top-notch marksman. She quickly glanced at Fluttershy, who was shaking nervously. She tried to load her M1 Garand, but dropped her magazine on the floor of the craft. The two of them both reached down to pick it up quickly, only to touch hands. "I got your back" said Rainbow smiling at her. She handed her clip to her and Fluttershy loaded her rifle. "We're almost there!" Yelled an officer's voice. Every single pony's attention was focused on the beach ahead. The boat began clinking from machine-gun fire and a shell went off in front of it. Sweat poured from Rainbow's forehead. The boat slowed down and came to a stop. "GO!" yelled a voice from behind. The landing craft's ramp came down and the first row of ponies were gunned down instantly. "Get down!" yelled a mare's voice. The ponies lept over the bodies and into the water and crouched down as they sprinted to the shore. Another wave of gunfire from the cliffs struck them and a shell exploded, sending dead ponies falling to the ground. Rainbow Dash sprinted past bodies and landed face first on the sandy beach. Shells exploded in three places around her and she clenched her teeth to keep from screaming. She crawled to a hedgehog emplacement and took cover behind it. Fluttershy landed behind her and had tears streaming down her face. "Come on, soldiers!" Yelled Rainbow Dash as she ran towards the seawall and lept over with the others. Rainbow Dash was an officer as well,

She rose to a Lieutenant after basic training. She commanded her own platoon of troops. The Germane soldiers opened a hailstorm of gunfire upon the Allied troops below. A Stallion was shot through the throat and fell in front of Fluttershy. Before she could react, she tripped over him and fell on the sand. A shell exploded on a soldier and sent their body flying on top of Rainbow Dash. "AAAAAGGGHHHHH!" screamed a wounded soldier next to Fluttershy. Blood gushed from his side as he shouted bloody murder. Suddenly she saw Field Medic Redheart rush to his side as blood leaked from his mouth. A mare screamed as she charged forward before stepping on a mine and blowing her legs off. Fluttershy stayed glued to the ground as Rainbow directed soldiers forward to a machine gun position.

The machine-gun bunker opened fire and shot a soldier in the head in front of Rainbow Dash. "Everyone get down!" She screamed. The remainder of the company hit the deck as bullets and shells whizzed by and littered the beach. The company opened fire with their rifles and threw grenades. They were pinned down.

Bravo Regiment, 200 yards to the west.

"MOVE YOUR WHINY HINNIES!" Yelled Pinkie Pie. The Captain and her troops rushed forward into oncoming wave of bullets towards the barbed wired fences. A shell exploded and sent troops flying into the barb wire and hanging while screaming in agony. "GET THOSE FENCES DOWN NOW!" Yelled Pinkie. Combat engineers quickly ran to the front lines with wire cutters and begin snapping lines one by one. By now the Germane soldiers were in view and could be seen in their fortified trenches, firing and officers screaming commands. "Get me some freaking suppressive fire!" screamed Pinkie.

A machine gunner ran up and dropped her BAR machine gun in the sand and opened up heavy fire on a Germane trench at the bottom of the cliffs. "Nice work, Sgt. Applejack!" shouted her younger sister from behind. " Bloom!" screamed Applejack. "I told you to stay back and receive orders from the Captain!". "I'M RIGHT WHERE I WANT TO BE!" Applebloom yelled back jumping down beside her and firing her M1 Carbine.

Applebloom was a communications trooper and carried a tall, bulky radio on her back. It could receive orders and ask for air and naval support from Allied forces. Shells exploded nearby and hit troops running past the barbed fences. The machine gun bunkers and artillery continued hammering the beach. "Get me on the radio!" Pinkie finally yelled.

She turned to Applebloom and grabbed her by the radio pack. Pinkie smiled at her briefly before taking the wire phone from the side of her portable radio and shouting bloody mary into it. "I DON'T CARE WHERE THE HELL YOU ARE, GET ME SOME DAMNED AIR SUPPORT AND HELP US TAKE THIS BEACH!" she roared into the phone over the explosions. Pinkie slammed the phone down and her face was tomato red. "Oh…...I shouldn't have yelled" she remarked stomping off quickly.

Much of the of the regiment began stepping on landmines trying to run up the beach. Pinkie pie ran with troops ahead and started shooting the German soldiers in the trenches. There was a pillbox with a MG 34 gunner in it, but a brave little dragon soldier threw a grenade in and killed them.

After, taking the front trench, Pinkie ordered the flamethrowers to smoke out the other bunkers. But they couldn't get close enough, and the soldiers and machine gunners killed and forced some of them back. Suddenly a P-51 Mustang flew over ahead and dropped a bomb on it. It exploded into flames and the Allies rushed in. The remaining Germanes surrendered.

Pinkie looked up at the retreating planes and sighed in relief.

Another plane flew in low and destroyed the artillery batteries and damaging another bunker.

"CHARGE!" Yelled Pinkie as she led the soldiers to a final assault up on top of the cliffs.

They quickly eliminated the remaining resistance and the rest of the Germanes defenders fled for their lives.

Alpha Regiment, 15 yards away.

The air support had knocked out the artillery and Rainbow led a huge charge on the bunkers and trenches. "Let's go, team!" She yelled running forward and firing her rifle. Derpy ran beside her and leapt into a trench and shot a Germane before bayoneting another in the chest. Germanes began running back and some tried to surrender with their hands up, only to be cut down by gunfire. A squad of SS soldiers began chunking grenades out at the Allied troops and blowing them apart until they ran out and a Flamethrower Trooper ran forward and cooked them alive in their trench.

Fluttershy stood in horror as a Mare lay on the beach screaming at the top of her lungs in absolute agony. She knelt down beside her and ran her hands over the blood and entrails spewing out onto the sand. "M-Medic!" Fluttershy screamed over her shoulder while fighting back tears. Corpsman Redheart sprinted towards them and she instantly began pulling out morphine from her bag. "W-What's your name?" Fluttershy asked tenderly.

The mare struggled to get words out and began shaking violently. "C-Cheeril-lee" she said as tears streamed down her face. "I-Im s-so c-cold" she said as she began to stop fidgeting. "Im losing her….STAY WITH ME!" Yelled Redheart. Cheerilee suddenly stopped breathing and became motionless. "She's gone!" Redheart said as she stopped trying to close the wounds with blood soaked bandages.

Rainbow Dash walked up behind her and put her hoof on her shoulder. "It's over" she said calmly.

"Yes...but at what cost?" Said Fluttershy looking at the war torn beach.

The Allies hammered down and pushed the Germanes several more miles before stopping to make the newly acquired land their base.

"Rest easy Everyone..." Said Pinkie later that night. "WE WILL TAKE BACK EQUESTRIA!"

BONUS SCENE:

September 17,1939

Rainbow Dash woke with an enormous headache. The floor was damp and she slowly looked around in the pitch-black dark. She could hear explosions going off in the distance outside. "I must be locked up" she thought to herself. She slowly recovered from her pounding headache and began to stand up in the dark. Rainbow looked at her left wing and winced at the sharp pain she felt while flexing after being shot. There were bandages over her wounds. Her knees hurt and she groaned as she tried to find her way to a wall. Rainbow hoisted herself up just as the cell door opened,flooding the room with light. Before she could make out a face, she felt a sharp pain after the butt of a rifle slammed into her stomach. She felt two hooves grab onto her arms and drag her from the room. "I think i'm gonna puke" she thought to herself. The two soldiers lead her down the hall and threw her into a much brighter, well lit room. She fell to the floor and the door slammed. Rainbow looked around the room and saw a single chair in the middle. There was a barred window on the wall and Rainbow saw nothing but the night sky outside. Before she could do anything else, the door slammed opened and a fierce looking stallion walked in.

Two SS soldiers also walked in after him. "Well...Well..Well" Said General Sombra. "If it isn't the little freedom fighter from Cloudsdale" he said chuckling. Sombra spoke English with a heavy Germane accent. Rainbow Dash scowled up at the unicorn and leapt at him, only to be hit back down to the ground by the soldiers. "Very…...Charming" he said grinning devilishly. "Did you really think you could stop those bombers from reaching the city?"he asked. Rainbow glared up at him from the floor. "How am i still alive?" she asked. Sombra walked to the other end of the room and turned around. "You're extremely lucky, we found you injured and passed out on top of a cloud after the battle was over" he said crudely. "I had almost forgotten you Pegasi scum could walk on the clouds,acting like gods". Rainbow Dash laughed a little before saying "I don't know that you're pulling but i'm not telling you anything so you can go ahead and kill me now" she said wiping her forehead. The room was dead silent. " I have better uses for you at the moment" said Sombra finally. "We have captured the city are currently holding the survivors as prisoners". Rainbow Dash stared at him blankly. "Perhaps we would be willing to set the females and children free if you cooperated with us"Sombra continued. "What do you want?" Rainbow Dash said scowling. Sombra chuckled a little before walking back in front of her. "I am looking for an artifact" he said plainly.

Rainbow froze,she knew exactly what he meant. The Elements of Harmony. "I have reason to believe the Element of Magic is in Cloudsdale" said Sombra boldly. "And we are searching the city for it with little success"

"And you think i know where it is?" Rainbow asked angrily. "No….." said Sombra. "I know you know where it is" he replied grinning. He turned around and the SS soldiers brought in a royal guard, a young pegasus. The soldiers forced him on his knees. Sombra walked behind him and pulled out his handgun."Tell me where it is and i'll spare this weakling and the others". "No!" Don't tell him anything!" cried the guard. A SS soldier rifle-butted him in the back harshly. The young guard fell on the ground sobbing. Rainbow Dash's heartbeat spiked rapidly. She gave a firm look at Sombra. "Sorry, I don't trust Krauts" she said hoarsely. "You will if i do this" said Sombra cocking his gun and putting it to the guards head. She couldn't take the pressure anymore, "OK!" "OK!" "I'll tell you!" "It's buried beneath the city!" she said lying. Sombra pulled the trigger and the pegasus guard slumpt to the floor. "Thank you" he said smirking and wiping his gun off. Rainbow Dash lept at him but was hit back to the ground by the soldiers. "I lied to you!" she said boldly. "I gave the element to a friend of mine, a messenger!". Sombra immediately dropped his smiling face and became infuriated. "She's taking it far from here, to the Allies!" yelled Rainbow. Sombra hit her across the face and she fell to the floor on her back. He turned to leave the room just as Rainbow said something. "Kill me" she hissed. Sombra turned to face her and looked her in the eyes. "No" "I'll let you watch the city fall" he said with a slight smile before walking out with the soldiers. The cell door slammed shut. Rainbow still heard explosions outside and trotted to the window. There, in the sky,was Cloudsdale.

The symbol of hope and her hometown. The city was on fire.

Chapter 3 - Heroes And Guardians

West Equestria. July 4,1942

The rumble of the tanks next to the walking convoy of soldiers echoed through the woods. A single dirt road stretched between the forest as the army moved towards its distant destination. The line of M4 Shermans moved slowly towards their destination and into unfamiliar enemy grounds. All around them were signs of war. 8 made by artillery and and flaming wreckage, All the smoke and debris from the fire rose into the air and covered the area with a light fog. The U.S.M Army made their way to their unclear destination with only one thing between them and liberating Canterlot. A sky city.

"Looks like we just missed a firefight" said as she looked out at the battleground while trotting next to her fellow troops. "That isn't a good sign either" replied Pinkie Pie.

"This means the Germanes aren't far off if we are seeing fresh bodies"

In total, 7 Shermans were moving in union along the road towards their target.

"What's the time"? asked Pinkie Pie to her radio operator. "1400 hours" replied Applebloom. "Good, good, we're making great time" Pinkie said nodding.

"I was told to separate and take the company to scout out the enemy frontlines with a tank battalion" she continued.

"It's a good thing we've gained so much ground since D-Day" she said proudly.

Down the convoy was Rainbow Dash trotting while adjusting her sniper rifle scope.

"Hmm, if i just adjust this a few more notches…" she said to herself.

Fluttershy walked next to her and was staring at the ground. "Hey,you alright soldier?"

Rainbow asked. "Y-yes...I'm fine" Said Fluttershy lying. "Oh,alright then" Rainbow said looking away from her. In her mind flashed the gruesome images of the dead ponies littering the beach with the sand stained with blood. The mare with her organs spattered and lay dying. Fluttershy shook her head of the graphic images and decided to focus on the task ahead. "Does anyone has a cigar or somethin"? asked a soldier in the group. "If I had some, I'd be using em" replied a troop behind him. Private Frank Downie sighed. "Who knew i'd be fightin for my own country" he thought to himself. Downie was born and raised in Manehattan, and had a heavy accent to prove it.

"Ay,get ah load of this" he said nudging his friend next to him. The two stallions looked in front of themselves and watched Pinkie Pie walk. Frank raised his eyebrows and his friend whistled . "It's almost worth all this walking for such a fine view" said his friend snickering. Suddenly someone behind smashed both of their heads together. Hard. "Hey what the buck was that for?" Frank cried

"What do you two idiots think yer doing"? She said with a scowl, "Just walking, geez lady" Said Frank. Applejack narrowed her eyes. "Keep yer eyes up,fellas". "Wouldn't want to miss the enemy now would we"? After another half hour of marching the company was getting tired and Captain Pinkie suggested they stop briefly to rest.

"Wait, what's that noise" said Applejack as she motioned for the troops behind her to be quiet. "Stop the convoy"! yelled Pinkie Pie. Everyone fell silent as the Shermans all stopped to listen. Slowly a soft, but steady noise was heard coming from the treeline up ahead. It then became a loud constant rumbling. A Tank. A Germane Tank. "Over there!" shouted Pinkie as two enemy tanks sprung from the woods. "Panzers!" shouted a soldier in the convoy. "Open Fire"! The M4s were taken by surprise as the crew within the tanks quickly moved their vehicles in an attempt to serpentine. In an instant the first Panzer fired a direct hit on the first Sherman. It blew into an inferno of flames and smoke as it continued moving while burning until it came to a stop off the road. What followed was anything less but complete carnage. The two Panzers opened up a barrage of machine gun fire on the U.S troops as their own tanks began trying to move past the neutralized one.

"Everyone, Take Cover!" said Pinkie as she led the whole company off of the road and into the brush. They scrambled for cover as the abrupt sound of machine-gun fire began and ripped through the bushes and trees. Several soldiers cried out in agony as bullets pierced their bodies as they fell to the ground. On and on nonstop, the machine gun fired at the unit as they fled for any covering they could find. "Somepony take out that machine gun!" cried Pinkie as three soldiers running for cover were mowed down not to far from her. "I'm on it , miss!" yelled Lt. Rainbow Dash cocking her sniper rifle. She leapt over other soldiers and avoided gunfire by taking cover on a fallen tree. She took a deep breath before taking aim through the lens. She lined her crosshairs on a Germane running out from cover and fired. Instantly a bullet entered his chest and left a bloody exit wound. He fell as she took aim at two more Germane troops running across the field. She took them out without hesitation. Next she saw an enemy pull the pin of a grenade behind a tree and prepared to throw it. Rainbow acted fast and shot it out of his hand as it fell behind him and exploded a few seconds later. A sharp and loud explosion went off near her , killing some of her troops. "Look out, mortar rounds incoming!" yelled a stallion. Through the trees she still couldn't see the machine-gunner but swiftly killed the two Germanes firing the mortar. She soon heard the familiar "Chink" of her rifle telling her she was out of ammo. She quickly took out the magazine and slapped another one in before cocking it. A wave of Wermacht soldiers came gliding quickly down the open field as Pinkie ordered her troops to reposition. The first one raised his MP-40 opened automatic fire at the unit, causing four soldiers to be killed as they fled. "I don't think so Krauts"! Applejack said to herself as she leapt from cover before raised her BAR automatic rifle. She opened fire and gunned down all of the Germanes from left to right. Rainbow swiftly downed two more enemy soldiers before locating the machine-gunner. She aimed through her scope slowly until she had the gunner right in her sights. In an instant she pulled the trigger and the bullet struck the stallion in the head and it quickly bursted out the back. Behind the group, a ferocious tank battle continued. The remaining five Shermans fired indiscriminately as the two Panzer III's fired back with accurate precision. The lead Panzer shot again and struck the side of an M4, causing it to suddenly explode and burn. "We gotta do something, we're losing tanks fast"! Yelled Applejack. "Use the M1 Bazooka"! Pinkie screamed. Several soldiers jumped from cover and covered the troop carrying the Rocket Launcher as they rushed to the road. The crew of the second Panzer saw them running and turned their turret towards as they approached. "Look out"! Screamed Applejack. But it was too late. The Panzer opened fire with a machine gun and killed all of the troops. The four Shermans approached the tanks from the side and all fired at once.

The first hit grazed the lead Panzer as the the next three hit directly on it. The tank stopped moving as an explosive fireball erupted inside. Two crewmembers leapt out as they burned alive. An M4 stuck them both down.

The second Panzer III backed away as the crew reloaded. Applejack quickly spotted the Bazooka next to the dead soldier and sprinted to grab it. "Let's go!' she yelled behind her shoulder to Fluttershy. Applejack reached the rocket and took a knee before hoisting it up on her shoulder. "Load it"! She yelled as Fluttershy reached her. Fluttershy saw a rocket in the soldier's pack and quickly picked it up. She opened the bag and picked it up before shoving it into the back of the Bazooka. "Clear"! She shouted as she tapped Applejack's shoulder. Applejack aimed at the Panzer with the iron sights before firing. The rocket sped away from them as it flew across the field and road before striking the tank. Almost instantly.,It exploded into flames as the it came to a complete stop. "Yeah"! Said Applejack said hi-fiving Fluttershy. Pinkie and a dozen other soldiers surrounded the burning tank and lifted up the hatch. "Töte mich jetzt"! screamed a Germane inside. Pinkie pulled the pin on her grenade and tossed it inside before slamming the hatch down. Everyone jumped off as a loud boom went off inside the Panzer. Shouting was heard from the woods as Pinkie looked and saw soldiers leading a captured Germane out of the woods. "This is all that's left of the krauts, Captain Pinkie". "Good", she said. "We may be able to get some information out him". "We aren't supposed to be fighting any Krauts the far west from Cloudsdale Pinkie said. "You did good, Private" Applejack said smiling and patting Fluttershy's shoulder. "Thank you, but i think we wouldn't be standing here if it wasn't for Sgt. Rainbow Dash" Fluttershy replied. They both looked at Rainbow as she scouted around off the road for ammo. Medic Redheart looked around and treated anyone's wounds.

"We Lost 17 ponies, Captain" said Spike. "We haven't got much food left either". "This isn't good" stressed Pinkie stroking her chin. "We need to keep marching until nightfall" she spoke. "If we stay here the Krauts will find out where we are and know where we've been coming from".

"Alright,everypony!" yelled Spike. "Pack up and get ready to move out"!

Several soldiers groaned as the unit prepared to move deeper into enemy territory.

Great Ponyland

Biggins Air Field

6 hours earlier….

"You know you don't have to do this, right"? said Shining Armor. (British accent) He looked Up at his sibling, who was preparing to fly off in her Supermarine Spitfire.

"Course not, that would make a coward" Twilight Sparkle said. "What would you have me do?"

Before him stood a sleek, brown and green fighter plane.

The words "Ranger 04" were painted on the side of it.

"I can arrange things, you don't have to fight in Equestria!" he yelled.

Twilight began putting on her flight gloves. "I'd rather take my squadron elsewhere instead of staying here and letting the Jerrys win".

"The Mareicans have their own air force, let them handle this"! Shining said slamming his hoof down.

"Yes, but what they have isn't enough" She replied. "Their going to need some help if the Allies are going take back Equestria"

"The Yanks don't care if they've got your support or not, you could be killed" he said in a serious tone.

Twilight ignored him as she climbed inside of the plane's cockpit and sat down.

"Look, I'm asking you not to go as a brother, not your leader" Shining said.

"Goodbye, Prime Minister" said Captain Twilight as she turned the plane's engine on a began moving forward.

Shining watched her plane take off the runway grimly.

"Biggins Tower 4, I'm taking off" she said as she turned on her radio "This is Cloud Ranger 4, are there any other planes in the air"?.

Twilight rose her plane higher in the sky and leveled it off. "Eeyup, Cloud Ranger 2, coming in behind ya" said a voice.

"Hello, 2nd lieutenant " Twilight said over the radio to the plane beside her.

Lt. Macintosh was from the United States of Mareica. Born in Equestria, he had moved there before the war began. "Big Mac" is what his friends and comrades called him. After Equestria fell to Germaney, he joined the Great Ponyland Air Force because the U.S.M did not want to enter the war yet. He flew as a relief pilot and delivered supplies to ground troops. After Japcky attacked Mareica, Macintosh enlisted in the military and became a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force.

"This is Cloud ranger 9, approaching from your left side" said a mare's voice. (In a lovely british accent)

"I see you 1st Lieutenant Rarity" Twilight said in the radio while looking out her cockpit window.

"Why are you chaps here"? She asked.

"We heard about ya leaving for Equestria and thought ya could use some help" Machintosh said happily.

"We couldn't possibly let you go alone, my dear Captain" Rarity added.

"That's good to hear, shall I lead the flight?" Twilight replied

Before anyone could answer a third voice came over the radio. Another Spitfire came up and glided next to them.

"This is Airmen Gilda, I'm coming with you"!

"Oh no yer not" Macintosh said angrily. "You're not even qualified I bet"!

"Leave the flying to the professionals, Griffon" Rarity said.

"Please, let me come!" Gilda pleaded. "I've got nothing else to do but mope about my people!"

"We know the Soviets are mistreating the Griffons" replied Rarity . "We're going

To fight so we can end this war and stop it"

"Perhaps she can tag along…." said Twilight. "We're going to need all the help we can get"

"I hope ya know how to fly, birdy" said Big Mac chuckling.

"Don't get in our way" Rarity snorted.

The four planes flew up high in formation towards the ocean. They had one destination, Equestria.

Western Equestria

Closer than ever to the sky city.

July 12,1942

The group of marines continued marching through the farmland plains near a remaining Shermans had branched off days ago to handle enemy resistance elsewhere. The group was not far from the rocky climb for the mountain. "Why does it seem to be taking forever to find this city" said Rainbow Dash. "We've been moving out for a week and still have no signs of getting close"

" I don't wanna hear any more of your yappin" growled Pinkie. "We got orders and we're gonna follow em"

"It's so damn hot,that's why" groaned Frank Downie. Fluttershy gasped as she walked beside him. "You said a curse word"!

"Some marine you are" he said laughing to himself.

"Hey,layoff"! "It's because the city is in the sky, ya blockhead" said Applejack.

"Who asked you, hick" said a soldier behind her. Applejack leapt at him and decked him in the face as several other marines tried to pull her off. "Enough"! Screamed Pinkie Pie exploding. "I've had about enough of all you tightwads whining in this hundred degree weather"! "Shut your traps and quit pummeling each other for once!" she finished as her face redden from anger. She smiled again before turning back to walk again. "We've got marching to do, let's go"! shouted Spike.

After another hour, the heat became unbearable and Captain Pinkie ordered the unit to camp out at the foot of the mountain. Applejack helped the soldiers unload gear and seat up tents. "I'm ready for some of those beans and bisquits" said Rainbow Dash to Derpy. Rainbow couldn't help but stare at the severed stumps where Derpy wings used to be. There was no telling what the Germane army did to her awhile back. Derpy didn't speak as she picked at her can of beans. Rainbow decided to get a quick nap in before they had to move out again. She laid back in her tent and closed her eyes. Haunting images of dead ponies lying on the beach flashed in her mind. Applejack sat near her unit's tent and ate while chatting with fellow soldiers. "We're almost there, I'm sure sir!" Pinkie said yelling into Apple Bloom's portable radio. "Cloudsdale isn't much further,trust me" she said assuring her superior "What do you mean by a railgun cannon"!?. Rainbow Dash's eyes shot awake at the sharp sound of a distant plane engine. She immediately heard a stallion holler "Stukas"! Fluttershy rushed into Rainbow's tent. "They've spotted us, let's go"! She shouted. Everything happened so fast, the JU-87 dive bombers flew over the camp out of the blue and opened a deadly barrage of gunfire. Soldier after soldier was struck with bullets as a Stuka flew over the camp and dropped a bomb. It exploded in the middle and sent tents and debris flying. After a couple of more minutes of everypony running and dodging the aerial attack, the Stukas fly off. "Look,their leaving"! yelled a marine. "Yes...suspiciously" said Pinkie.

She knew there was a good reason that the enemy planes didn't stay to finish them off. "Everyone, get the wounded to medbay!" screamed Medic Redheart as she tried to stop the blood gushing from a soldier's wounds. Pinkie Pie turned to say something to the group when a shrill and instant sounds pierced the air. Instantly an artillery shell exploded near the camp. Another one struck the medbay head on, destroying it completely. "Everyone, get down"! "Artillery"! Yelled Spike. Applejack spun around and sprinted towards the medbay rubble as she screamed for her sister. Her eyes began watering as she saw two marines lift her away from the smoldering ruins. She was screaming. Applejack ran up to as her sister screamed in agony as her scorched leg dangled from her body. Applejack cried out as Redheart and another medic pushed her back. "Look at me..look at me...she's gonna be alright"! Redheart shouted at her. The group began pulling back while carrying their wounded as artillery shells continued to hit around them. A shell exploded near Rainbow Dash as Fluttershy pushed her to the ground. The explosion knocked them off their feet as they rolled down a small hill and scraped against bushes. They quickly stood up and joined the fleeing marines from the mountain. "Where the hell is this coming from"!? shouted Applejack, obviously shaken up after seeing her sister. "Cloudsdale" said Pinkie Pie looking back at the shattered campsite. " It's coming from Cloudsdale"

North Sea,1940.

"Private Arthur Bates"! Yelled the commanding officer. Arthur stood at attention and saluted his superior, "Are you done with the task i ordered"? "Sir, yes sir!" said Arthur.

"Alright, we're short in the engine room, go down and help heave some coal" said the officer. "Yes,sir" Bates said walking off. "Then get some sleep, ya hear"? "I will,sir" Bates replied. He left the deck and went down the rusted steel stairs inside the ship. He turned right and before walking down the hall and into the engine room. Not many seamen were awake at this hour, just the watchmen and secondary engine crew. He yawned as he grab a shovel and helped another sailor heave coal into the furnace. After about ten minutes he yawned as his arms began to ache. "Go get some rest, chap" said the stallion next to him. "Ill finish up here". "oh..okay , thanks" said Bates without a second thought. He stretched his arms wide as he walked to the crew quarters. He smiled al little as he thought about the warm bunk waiting for him and all the hard work he'd done today. Maybe father was right, joining the navy has its benefits. No Germanes here, heck no war! The Crew of the Effingham hadn't seen or heard a single enemy ship. As he neared the crew quarters, he heard a commotion up on the deck. All the screaming and shouting snapped him awake as he made out the words "Torpedo". "Oh Bugger " he thought. "No..no..no no" he thought as his eyes widened. Before he could do a single thing, the ship shook violently as a deafening explosion rocked the floor beneath him.

He fell to the floor as he heard stallions screaming. Then, pouring. Instantly he was swept down the hall by a wave of water as he smashed into the wall. The water beneath him rapidly began rising. "Oh god!,please!...god no...no!" Arthur said on his mind as the water reached his neck. "Not like this"! He screamed aloud as he was submerged by the power of the water. His eyes burnt as the salty freezing water stung his entire being. He tried to grab onto something as the water pushed him further down the ship. He hit his leg against the door as he flew into the ship's kitchen. Around him were newly awaken comrades who were struggling like him. He rolled underwater as he fell into the ocean. He didn't know how, but he was totally underwater. His body burned as he tried to swim to the surface of the sea. He barely saw other crewmen squirming in the water around him. He pushed with all his strength until he breached the surface, gasping for air. The cold and dark night were all around him as he watched the cruiser sink before his eyes. "This can't be happening" he thought to himself holding back tears. He saw a lifejacket floating and swam over to lay on it. He watched as sailors drowned and struggled to swim as the ship plummeted into the freezing water. Down below, a Germane U-Boat swam away into the deep, leaving a sunk ship and shaken sailors for dead.

Chapter 4 - A Brighter Day In A Darker Place.

The Siege Of Cloudsdale.

January 1943

It was now a cold and long winter as the allies settled in. December past and the 1943 new offensive began. They had reached Cloudsdale, but the relentless bombing and artillery from the Germane forces had cost them many casualties. They ultimately could not take Cloudsdale and settled in for a tough fall of enemy attacks and skirmishes. Before anyone knew it, winter had hit. Equestria froze over as The Allies set up camp below Cloudsdale and waited for a miracle.

"Do you see something"? Captain Pinkie Pie asked . "Aircraft...Stukas maybe" Applejack replied looking through her binoculars. "We may need tah move out….they're coming this way". "Everyone, let's move out!" Pinkie shouted. "We got enemy planes headed this way". The marines quickly stood up from the snowy ground and quickly grabbed their gear. Rainbow Dash stood there and stared at Cloudsdale. The last time she had seen it, the city was a inferno of flames. "Hey, come on we gotta move" said Spike nudging Rainbow's shoulder. "Yeah….ok...sorry" Rainbow said snapping out of her daze.

The frozen tundra surrounded them as the marines trotted through the snow-covered valley and they walked through the dead branches. In the distance….through the snowy mist….Cloudsdale could be seen in detail in the sky. The intense distant booming of the Germanes Schwerer Gustav made their ears ache. It was a humongous cannon the Germanes had assembled at Cloudsdale. It had them fleeing constantly to avoid detection and an aerial bombardment. Every attempt made to fly over the city and destroy the cannon was thwarted by the Luftwaffe and anti-aircraft fire.

Now, as the war came to an abrupt halt, Captain Pinkie and her troops were using a run and gun tactic to hide across the snowy plains. A group of soldiers from the Equestrian Resistance in Cloudsdale had been leaking information to them for the past few weeks, giving them an strategic advantage and an early alert on incoming enemy attacks. Whether they were caught or not, it didn't matter because the broadcasts quit coming in on Allied radios and they failed to contact them. The had no warning anymore and could only guess what the enemy's next counter attack would be. Something had to be done, and soon.

"I need somepony to go in with no promises" Pinkie said crossing her arms. Pinkie was in front of her command tent as stood in front of her entire company amongst the snow. The marines shivered and chattered their teeth as they grimaced at the bitter cold all around them.

"I can't guarantee you won't come out of this operation unscathed...but it will have to be done if we're going to take back this city" Captain Pinkie continued, her own cheeks getting red and rosy from the icy wind. "Do we have any….ANY….Volunteers?" she said looking around.

"I'll do it" Rainbow Dash said abruptly as she stepped away from the huddled mass of stallions. "This was my city and i know it like the back of my hoof"

"I've got your back" Applejack said stepping forth boldly.

Immediately, several other ponies stepped forward and raised their hands, Derpy simply stood next to Rainbow quietly as a show of union.

Pinkie smiled slightly as she looked at the dozen marines who had just volunteered. "The mission is tonight, come inside so we can look at the plan"

March 12,1943

Midnight.

Rainbow and the rest of her squad strapped themselves in and readied their parachutes as the Douglas C-47 transport rocked back and forth as the pilots did their best to avoid anti-aircraft fire. "We've Got Me 109 fighters on radar….it's now or never!" yelled the flight mechanic. Rainbow Dash gulped as the plane's door slide open and the swift gush of the air nearly made her fall out. Below, she could see every light,turret, and building glowing as the plane was being fired at. Derpy pushed her out of the way because she was having second thoughts, and quickly leapt out of the plane. The rest of the group followed with Rainbow being last. She jumped and used her wings to quickly and effectively glide down towards the city, before pulling her chute at the last minute. Above her, Rainbow Dash saw the burning transport plane free falling out of the sky towards the earth. As she she floated,Rainbow spotted several other marines get shredded to bits as their parachutes were shot up. Rainbow dropped the ground and yank off her chute before cocking her rifle and sprinting after the others.

She looked through her scope and began sniping each Germane soldier that was manning or shooting the anti-aircraft guns. Derpy opened fire with her M1 Garand as more enemy soldiers were alerted of their presence. "At this rate, will be overrun!" Rainbow thought to herself. She lead the troops across the streets as Rainbow looked up and spotted the massive weapon that had caused the allies so much trouble. The Schwerer Gustav Cannon. In one swift motion she raised her flare gun and fired into into the air so the Great Ponyland fighter pilots could see it.

"Augh…..i'm taking fire!" yelled Twilight Sparkle. The Cloud Rangers flew over the landing site and did their best to cover the marines as they ran to take out the anti-aircraft turrets. The four Spitfires began dogfighting against the Germane 109's. "Captn….i got all whole row of enemy fighters on a runway preparin to take off from the city" Big Macintosh said as he flew over the enemy's airfield. "Take them out!" Twilight yelled on the radio as she dodged an enemy fighter attack. "I'm busy!"

"We'll cover you!" Spitfire said over the radio as her and the Wonderbolts flew their P-51 Mustangs over the city and began shooting at Stukas.

"When they'd get here?!" Gilda exclaimed.

"Doesn't matter! We'll hold off these planes while you take out that cannon!" Spitfire replied on the radio.

One Ju-87 flew behind her and opened fire, grazing her plane.

Soarin flew by in the nick of time and gunned down the enemy jet as it burst into flames and started falling.

"Thanks, Soarin!" Spitfire shouted back.

"Don't mention it captain!" Soarin replied as he spun his plane to cover Surprise.

The Wonderbolts were an an elite group of fighter pilots from the U.S.M Air Force. Some were from Equestria but all were the stuff of legend, and knew how put up a good fight.

"Alright, Rangers...follow me!" Twilight yelled as she dove her Submarine Spitfire towards the Gustav. The rest of her squadron followed behind

"Blimey, look at the size of that thing!" Rarity shouted as the group approached the cannon.

"Eeyup, but nothing we can't handle!" Big Mac replied flying alongside his wingmates.

In one single strike the whole entire cannon exploded into debris as the Cloud Rangers dropped their payload of bombs.

Part 2:

March 15, 1943

The sun set peacefully over Equestria. The struggle had finally come to an end. The Allied soldiers watched tearfully over the ruins of the once great city and at the land below. Yes, they had won. A ferocious 14 hour battle against the Germanes had finally liberated Cloudsdale. As Rainbow Dash gazed out into the sky, tears slowly began streaming down her face. "It's..finally over…...they didn't die for nothing…..t-thank you.." she thought in her mind. The Mareican marines hadn't began celebrating as they combed every inch of the city, looking for any lurking enemy forces. Germane Heer (Army) soldier after soldier surrendered with their hooves up as they were lead to the edge of the city to be put on a prisoner sundown hit, the city was infected with an unusual quietness it hadn't had in quite some time. Then, slowly but surely….the lights came on. Pinkie Pie and her entire company threw their helmets in the air as the celebrated the priceless victory. Fireworks lit the sky as all of Equestria looked toward Cloudsdale that night, including the distant enemy. The soldiers danced and sang as the now free city was sure to help them in taking Equestria by air. "Geez, what's the big deal?" Downie complained. "We only took one major city back today…...and everyone's celebratin?!" he said to another stallion. "I'll dance we we retake MY home city" he added. He felt a tap on his soldier as he looked around to see Applejack glaring at him. He winced at the thought of her smacking him for mouthing off just now, but she didn't. She clearly had had too much ale and was slightly wobbling in a drunken state. Applejack's face looked queasy and she struggled to get her words out. "Uh….look Sarge….i'm sorry, i jus-" Frank's speech was interrupted by a sudden kiss from the young mare. She leaned and gave him a deep smooch before pulling away and lazily slouched against his chest. "You're *hick*...not such a bad...guy *hick* after all" Applejack stammered. He stood there in complete shock as she rubbed her muzzle underneath his chin. "I...uh...w-well...gee...t-thanks..I" he stuttered as Frank stood there flustered. He managed to look back at the other stallion in their presence. His face was also in a state of utter disbelief. "Sergeant Applejack...what in tarnation do you think you're doing!?" yelled a mare's voice from behind. Applejack slowly raised her head to look at the blurred figure making it's way towards her. "Captain...Pinkie….i'm….just fine" Applejack murmured as she fell to the ground. Frank and Pinkie leaned down and helped pick her up. "As an officer in the marines, i'd expect you to be taking better care of yourself" Pinkie said angrily. "I…..don't...care…..I...don't deserve...anything" replied Applejack moaning. Pinkie was about to snap back at her then she remembered why she had probably been drinking. Applebloom. No word had come yet of her recovery in the hospital. Applejack was making a mess of herself worrying about her sister. "I'll take it from here Private" Pinkie told Frank as she escorted Applejack back to the barracks with her arm over her back. Elsewhere, Rainbow Dash hugged a teary Fluttershy as they triumphantly stood on their city. Their race now had it's home back. Rainbow began walking around the cloud city oblivious to the party all around her as she took a swig of ale and looked up at the stars. She watched as the fireworks ignited the sky in a spectacular display of light. A single wave of Allied planes swooped over the city, sheltering it under their wings. "Thanks guys" Rainbow said smiling at the sky. "We couldn't have done it without you"

She continued walking until she was alone. Rainbow looked out it the darkness and saw a single figure looking out at the sky.

Rainbow walked closer before recognizing who it was.

"Private…..umm…..what's the matter?" she asked.

Rainbow walked up to Derpy before placing her hoof on her shoulder and turning her around.

"Are you oka-..." Rainbow started.

Derpy was crying.

August 23,1942.

Stalliongrad,Soviet Reign Union.

Private Kaleo arrived on the boat that crossed the Volga river and stepped off into as the bustling,war torn city of Stalliongrad. He carried a bag over his shoulder and nothing else but the clothes on his back. As he waited in line, he spotted a propaganda poster with a saluting Joshoof Stallion on the ruins of a wall. "Fight for the motherland" it had inscribed at the bottom. In the far distance, he could hear the booming of artillery shells exploding on the ground and loud gunfire.

"Kaleo!...Kaleo!" yelled a voice from behind him.

He spun around to see who the familiar voice was.

"Funny seeing you here, old friend" Kaleo said as he patted his friend Dmitri on the shoulder. "Was your dad's workshop not big enough?"

"I would have left that ass's shop along time ago...if it had not been for my mother being threatened by him with a beating" Dmitri scoffed.

They both chuckled a little before Kaleo spoke up. "So…..why did you leave?" he asked.

"My mother is sick, my old man could care less and rather drown himself in drink than help her" Dmitri said staring at the ground. "I was hoping to send anything i earn in the Soviet Army her way so she can get better"

"You're doing the right thing my friend" Kaleo said sadly as he shook his head.

The two former friends stood in a massive line of men waiting to be added to the Soviet infantry. As soon as the Germanes had crossed Soviet borders, Kaleo took off from home and left for the front lines. Adolf, the kraut leader, had chose to rather attack Stalliongrad, the country's most industrial resourceful city, than invade the capital Moscow and cripple the nation. Soon Kaleo was next in line and handed the instructor his papers. "Kaleo Markoff…..age 20…...yes….yes" The stallion read aloud as he nodded and cleared Kaleo to continue for recruitment. After half an hour, he was moved around again and again until a soldier handed him his assigned unit number. He walked over and stood with other stallions as an officer at the front caught his attention. "I am Captain Nikolai!" You will be under my command and follow all orders given...UNDERSTAND!?"

"Yes,sir!" yelled the entire unit.

"You will all be given an assigned duty…...whether it be, rifleman,spotter,sniper, or scout..you WILL accept it!" Nikolai continued.

After receiving his job, Kaleo looked over and saw a young mare cleaning and maintaining her Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle. She had blue eyes,peach colored skin and bright fiery red hair

"Uh….hello..." Kaleo said walking up to her nervously. "Are you a sharpshooter?"

The mare continued looking down at her rifle before meeting his eyes and huffing slightly.

"Hello,comrade." "My name is Sasha Solntse Shimmers…...and yes, I like to think that I am" the mare said as she continued to polish her gun.

"Why was I put here again?" Kaleo said looking down at his papers

"Because you're my spotter" she said looking up and smiling.

Bonus Scene:

Germane POW Camp, Somewhere in Equestria. November 1939.

The Germane guards stood quietly outside the building.

"Hey, why has General Sombra not shipped this pegasus off to the camps yet?"

"I think she knows something important that he wants. Something about the elements of Harmony."

"The elements of harmony?!"

"You know them?"

"I've heard of them before."

"Bah! Guard duty is so boring. Why are we stuck here when there is a war going on out there?"

"You're bored eh? I think I've got a pretty good way to have a little fun." said the guard smiling evilly.

"What's that?"

"That pegasus prisoner, perhaps she could entertain us for a while."

"Are you sure that's okay?"

"It'll be fine, Sombra won't care WHAT happens to her as long as she can still talk." replied the other guard

The two guards chuckled and went inside the small prison room. Across the room there was a single cage with the blue mare still asleep in chains.

"Looks like she's still asleep."

"Indeed, why don't we wake her up." the guard said cracking his hooves.

They quietly unlocked the cage door and walked in.

"Rise and shine!" the guard yelled striking her across the face. Rainbow Dash woke up screaming. She spotted the two and rushed towards them, only to be yanked back by her chains. The guards laughed as she struggled to move, only a foot out of reach.

"Maybe it'll work if you try harder." one of them mocked.

"Idiot, she doesn't understand Germane."

"Oh right. Hmm, now that I'm up close she's not that bad looking."

"You're right, maybe there's other ways we can have fun."

The two laughed evilly while Rainbow, furiously pushed forward to the point where the chains were choking her.

"Ha ha, she still thinks she can -"

The guard stopped when he heard the door open behind them. They didn't expect anyone else to come by.

"Listen buddy we're a little busy right..."

The guards breath stopped. A tan colored stallion had just walked in and was giving them a cold stare. The room was quiet, the only sound that was heard were the chains faintly rattling from Rainbow Dash struggling, finally the officer spoke.

"You have five seconds to leave before I put you on scouting duty.."

The guards didn't bother responding, they immediately made a rush for the door and didn't look back. He looked at Rainbow still struggling with her chains and glaring at him with hate in her eyes.

"Guter Gott." the stallion sighed after looking at her. She looked ready to bite his head off. "I am an officer in the army"

He walked towards her, Rainbow struggled even more fiercely after she saw him coming. He stood a foot away from her and held up a key. She stopped for a second, confused. The officer slowly leaned forward and unlocked the brace to one of her hooves. The second he did Rainbow Dash lifted her free hoof and savagely punched him across the face with it. He fell back and the key clattered to the ground just out of the mare's reach. The stallion was furious after tasting blood in his mouth but calmed down and stood, picking up the key.

"That Hurt."He walked out of the cage and shut horn glowed as he levitated the key and unlocked the other chains off her body. Rainbow Dash dropped to the ground and snatched the floating key. She ran over to the cell door and put the key in, struggling to unlock the door with no success.

"WHY ISN'T THIS STUPID KEY WORKING?!" she yelled.

"That key only unlocks the chains, not the door."

Rainbow Dash stared at him in surprise.

"You speak English?"

"Yes."

"And those guards would have done more than choke you if i hadn't intervened"

He said as he walked across the room and sat on the only chair in the cell, quietly looking at some notes he brought.

He glanced at her, then levitated a tray under the space in her cage.

"Here's your food."

The mare snorted. "You probably poisoned it."

"You're in a cage, if they wanted you dead they would've done it by now."

"Then...it's probably got some truth serum or something!"

"If such a thing existed the soldiers would've force fed it to you a while ago."

Rainbow sat there silently ignoring the food. She picked up the knife and tried to saw the bars, making an annoying grating sound.

"Could you keep it down? I'm working on something over here."

"Oh I'm sorry, am I making it hard to PLAN MORE SLAUGHTERING?!"

"I'm working on a crossword puzzle. Incidentally, do you know a seven letter word for evil?"

"GERMANE!"

"Don't be ridicu..." He stopped and looked at the puzzle. "Now that can't be right...it fits..."

Rainbow Dash burst into laughter, the first time since she was captured.

"Ha ha! See?! Even the puzzle agrees!"

He chuckled and then notices her tray untouched.

"Aren't you hungry?"

"Look at this stuff!" Rainbow Dash said scooping up some of it and plopping it down. "It's cold mush! Can't you get me something better to eat?"

The young stallion hesitated a bit.

"I don't think I could manage that all the time but...I guess I could bring something decent every so often."

"Wait seriously?"

Rainbow Dash was just complaining, she didn't think he'd actually do something about it.

"Sure, why not."

"I'm not telling you where the Element of Harmony are if that's what you're hoping."

"That's fine, I'm not going to interrogate you….yet" he said.

Rainbow groaned and slumped against the wall.

"You're not here to get anything from me, then why ARE you here?" Rainbow asked.

"I wonder." he said smiling mysteriously.

The officer continued to work quietly while Rainbow sat against the wall. The other Germanes didn't speak English so they just ignored her. If she spoke too much they'd throw water at her and yell at her.

"Alright." He finally said yawning. "Time for me to go."

"Are you...coming back later?"

HE smiled. "Yes."

"It's not like I care." Rainbow said quietly.

He got his stuff together and left, leaving her alone.

"What an odd Kraut..." said the Rainbow Dash thoughtfully. "Maybe….I could trust him"

It had been a week since the officer said he would come by again and Rainbow Dash was going crazy. She wasn't the kind of person who liked to sit still. She needed to be out doing something but here she was stuck in a cage eating cold mush.

The door opened, and a familiar officer walked in.

"You're back!" she standing up.

Normally she wouldn't care so much, but she'd been cooped, beating her head against the bars, trying to find something to do.

"Yup, I'm back."

"You bring what you promised?"

He chuckled.

"That the first thing on your mind? Yeah, here it is." He levitated a tray over to her cell. "Fresh from the officer's hall."

The mare dove into the food immediately. Tears began to swell up her eyes as she stuffed her face with the warm food.

The scent of food filled her nose. It had been so long since she had decent food, she almost cried out loud about how much better this tasted then the salted mush. The colonel sat in his chair and got to his work. Rainbow finished her food and spoke up.

"So, I've been wondering, where'd you learn English?"

"I learned English at Burnhorn University. I chose it because I thought it might come in handy one day." he smiled. "Looks like I was right. Anyway, I went there with a rival of mine and we were constantly butting heads and having competitions with each other, ha ha. I was always just slightly one step ahead, it was always exciting." replied the officer.

"What kinda competitions?"

"Oh, grades, valedictorian, you wouldn't be interested in that sort of stuff. But, there was this time we set our sites on the same mare and things really heated up." he chuckled. "Wanna hear it?"

"Sure, I ain't going anywhere soon."

The stallion talked with Rainbow Dash about his rivalry with another male named Ludwig, about how they clashed to impress her, how he dumped eggs on him and eventually winning in the ends she laughed a few times.

"What about you? Anything you're good at?"

"Yeah I'm..." Rainbow Dash hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to talk about it, but she decided it was okay and continued.

"I'm the fastest flier in all of Ponyville! Probably all of Equestria!"

"Hah. That's quite a bold claim." he grinned

"It's true! I took down a plane single-hoofedly with a spear!"

"Then that would make you Rainbow Dash"

"You know me?"

"Hah! There aren't many soldiers who HAVEN'T heard about what you did. Taking down a plane with just a spear, you actually scared quite a bit of people. They're wondering if all pegasi are as scary." the colonel explained.

Rainbow stopped and looked at him with a frown.

"What is it?"

"Why are you a soldier? I mean, you're not such a terrible person."

"Ah." The Lieutenant Colonel sighed and leaned back in his chair. "Yeah, I get that. I joined the military before the war. Burnhorn's a military academy, and i graduated last year. I certainly didn't expect for the fight to begin right after I joined. I guess no one ever does."

He looked at her and smiled.

"As you've probably already guessed, I don't despise pegasi or think of them as inferior lower life forms like most others. I had a few pegasi friends back at Burnhorn."

"Wait….how old are you?" Rainbow asked him

He laughed a little before replying. "21"

"Oh..." The room was quiet for a little as she thought about this but then broke the silence again. "Ya got anything to do?"

"Well...I might get scolded if anyone notices but...you've been sitting here in silence for a week right?" he asked

"YES!"

"Alright but don't tell anyone or they'll have my ass" he said reaching into his pocket.

"Alright, I suppose we could play a game of cards. That is, if you promise not to take another swing at me." he chuckled.

Rainbow Dash blushed a little.

"Y-yeah, sorry about that."

The two began playing cards, The stallion won every time and Rainbow Dash couldn't figure out why. "Hey, I'll see you again right?"

"Yes, i've been instructed to watch over you" he said

"I'm not gonna have to wait another week am I?"

"No, I'll get here sooner from now on. I promise." he said smiling a little.

"Alright..." said the mare reluctantly.

The officer bowed his head and turned for the door.

"Hold on…" said Rainbow Dash. "I never got your name"

"Ethan…..Ethan Mueller" he said clearing his throat.

"That's a nice name" said Rainbow Dash managing to smile.

The charming stallion left after saying goodbye, Rainbow smiled.

"Please let this not be a trick" she thought to herself.

Not long after these events….An Allied air raid took place over Ponyville and the Prison camp Rainbow Dash was being held was mistaken for Wehrmacht camp and was bombed. A gaping hole stood between Rainbow and freedom as the dust cleared.

She leapt from the building and sprinted as fast she could for the forest. The air raid alarms echoed into the night as searchlights soon sweep the treeline looking for prisoners. Rainbow looked back once more at the camp she'd been at for three months.

"Thank you, Ethan…..wherever you are" she said as she turned away and continued to run into the woods through the night.

Chapter 5 - Call Of Liberty

The Battle of Ponyville

April 5,1943

"Guy's look it's our old hometown...We've got to rid it of the Germanes" scowled Pinkie.

"We're going to need to reinforcements" Applejack said as she looked around at the abandoned military installations with her machine gun ready.

"Doesn't look like anyone's we should call this in?" Spike asked.

"We have a whole battalion..we're fine for now...we can't be too sure anyway" Pinkie told them.

"The Cloud Rangers are here right behind you" Twilight said over the radio.

"Captain Pinkie it's your Call" Rarity said grinning.

Four planes flew over the city and lead an air raid with Allied Forces.

"M4 Shermans and Crusader Tanks are making their way to the front lines" Fluttershy said as they continued parading through town in triumph.

"Good,good….we can't let out guards down just yet...there's surprisingly little resistance" Pinkie said eyeing the buildings next to them.

Rainbow Dash and Derpy walked at the back of the convoy of soldiers side by side and remained silent.

Suddenly a thunderous sound erupted among the ranks.

"SNIPER!" Screamed somepony at the front.

Then a noisy rapid-fire machine gun began raining down bullets at the group of soldiers. "Them Krauts are here!" screamed Applejack.

The MG-42 machine gun sprayed gunfire at them as the group scattered for cover.

"Someone take the sharpshooter out!" screamed Pinkie Pie.

"I got em" Rainbow said as she squinted her eye through the scope and took the shot.

A Half-Track emerged from a street corner and began firing the quad machine guns on it's top turret.

"Gun Truck!" Applejack shouted before taking cover.

The Cloud Rangers did a flyby and shot at the Germanes still crowing around the street. The Half-Track slowly began to come to a stop but kept returning fire. An M4 Sherman took it out. The remaining Wehrmacht troops quickly surrendered.

"They're getting desperate...they had to know they weren't going to win" Pinkie said shaking her head.

"I-Im..a-alright…..I-Im..ok" Spike moaned as he laid in a pool of blood that mostly wasn't his own. He clutched his shoulder as blood poured from his bullet wound.

"SPIKE?...SPIKE!" yelled Fluttershy running to help him. Nurse Redheart sprinted towards him and the others wounded and began her gruesome job of bandaging and stitching their wounds.

"See,WHAT DID I TELL YOU!?" Pinkie Pie shouted. "The Germanes were waiting to attack us"

She quickly calmed herself and tried to smile again. "G-good job team, we really showed them what we're made of"

Applejack and Rainbow led the captured Germanes with their hooves up away from the city.

"Discord won't be too be happy to 'ear about this" Applejack said.

Later that evening, the battalion celebrated as they had grilled hayburgers and drank cider.

"Report this in Fluttershy,we've secured Ponyville and will not await further orders" Captain Pinkie said turning to her.

Fluttershy, being the temporary radio trooper; picked up the telephone on her pack and called in the report. "All good news"

" …I've also got some very important news for you" Pinkie said facing her.

"What Is It Captain?" Applejack asked rather suspiciously.

"Applebloom Is going to be ok. She's at an Army hospital in Vanhoover"

The Battle For Canterlot

August 15,1943

This was Big Capital of Equestria.

In one swift motion, the A.P.F stormedintoCanterlot and fought like they never had before. Air and Ground forces interlocked in deadly combat that lasted all day.

The Cloud Rangers took out Me 109s and Ju-87s in the sky.

The Wonderbolts flew over as they were in a deadly dogfight with a mysterious new fighter squadron that called them themselves 'Schatten Bolzen'.

The Ground Forces had the toughest job. Fighting infantry,tanks, and everything else positioned in their former city of glory. The battle was vicious and the Germanes knew they were losing it.

"Fein können sie diese wertlose Nation haben. Ich will sowieso nach Hause!" Sombra said pounding his hoove on his command table.

He had his men prepare his escape vessel at once. All pursuing enemy ships were to be sunk by the Germane U-Boats protecting him.

After 3 hours, the Germane line broke and General Sombra fled.

Finally, At 2:00am on August 15. The Germanes Surrendered.

A massive celebration took place all over Equestria. The Capital was free, and so was their people. Germaney no longer had influence over the country. But, the battle wasn't over quite yet.

"I can't Imagine Celestia's face when she hears this news" Pinkie said smiling.

"Yeah but only if Luna could see this" Applejack said glumly.

"Way to kill the mood" Rainbow said taking a swig of cider.

"Whoa, Sergeant….what's gotten into you lately?" Applejack asked her.

"What does it matter?"

"Why, aren't you happy?" Pinkie asked. "We just won"

"So What?" Rainbow snapped as she threw her drink to the ground. "Does that mean everything just goes back to normal?"

"Hey,relax we just want you to be happy" Applejack said trying to comfort her.

"Normal!? Do you even know what they did to Derpy!?" Rainbow shouted. "They took her wings JUST because she was a Pegasi and then they...

"You're crossing the line Dash" Pinkie mumbled angrily.

"They injured Spike, Applebloom's possibly crippled by now.." Rainbow continued ranting.

"Please,stop fighting guys" Fluttershy said as her eyes began to swell up.

"Oh I understand completely,It must be hard for to understand Applejack because you've never lost anypony!" Rainbow shouted looking at Applejack.

Applejack lunged at rainbow as they began scuffling on the ground.

Derpy shoved Applejack over and gave her a 'If looks could kill' glare.

"EVERYPONY,SHUT UP AND LISTEN!" Shouted Captain Pinkie.

They all stopped and looked at her.

"I know you've all been great friends before, and I won't stand by as I let this war tear you apart. "Let's go and get Adolf Discord….and make him pay for what he's done!"

"Yeah, I Want to finish this war" Applejack said

"I-Im sorry" Rainbow said as she began to cry.

The Battle of Manehattan

August 18,1943

The allies had pushed the Germane army to the far east coast and the Third Reich prepared to make a final stand at the major city of Manehattan. A ferocious 8 hour battle took place for the city. Once the allies began advancing towards the city. General Svengallop quickly learned of this and fled Equestria's coast and fled for Germaney the night before.

Finally on August 19, The Germane Army surrendered. The Allies flooded the city and

All of Equestia was free of Axis rule.

Private Frank Downey looked across the ocean on the beach of Manehattan.

Applejack walked up behind him quietly and stood beside the stallion.

"Hay Private" She said.

"Hello Sergeant Applejack" Frank answered her.

"Yer city is free" Applejack told him.

"Yes"

"Do ya have any family to visit?"

"No" he replied.

"Have ya tried to find them?" Applejack asked.

"Won't matter, they wouldn't care if I came back anyway" He said rather glumly.

"Doesn't matter I'm alone now...I always will" Frank told her.

"Maybe ya don't have to be.." Applejack said smiling at him.

She leaned in and kissed him on the lips.

"I..Uh…well…..wasn't expecting that" He replied nervously.

"Don't be so hard on yourself, soldier..I'll see ya around" Applejack said before giving a small smile and turning to walk away.

"Wow" Frank thought to himself. He continued looking towards the ocean. Towards...Germaney.

Part 2:

October,1942

Stalliongrad

"NOW! Sasha screamed as she rolled away from the road and raised her sniper to the oncoming infantry. She shot two soldiers atop the tank and ran behind cover. Dmitri lay flat as he waited for it. The Panzer IV tank rolled along onto the street as in came across the ditch where Dimtri was hiding. He tossed the anti-tank mine onto the road and jumped back down the ditch just as the tank rolled onto it. The front of the tank exploded instantly into a fireball and came to a stop. One of the crewman leapt from the top as he ran out ablaze. Kaleo peered around from the corner of the building and shot at the Waffen SS soldiers panicking alongside the tank. "We got more coming this way!" Dmitri hollered as he ran to an open window while taking enemy fire. More enemy soldiers ran towards the squad. "Come on, let's run up stairs to that building..we'll have a better vantage point". Dmitri ran up behind them as he opened fire at the SS troops following down the street. They reached the building. It was damaged, but would make a good stronghold until they could figure out a way back to Soviet lines.

Sasha reached the top and cocked her sniper before she began dropping enemy soldiers that ran towards their postion. Suddenly a loud crash broke through the room and a loud thud hit the floorboards.

"Grenade!" Kaleo yelled before pushing Sasha to the ground and away from the blast.

"Ungh….thanks" Sasha grunted angrily as Kaleo stood back up.

Two Germane soldiers sprinted upstairs screaming at the top of their lungs as they both aimed their rifles at Kaleo. Dmitri quickly turned as he slid down the doorway and fired his SMG into their chests. They flailed back in distress before tumbling back downstairs to the bottom.

"Wow...thanks comrade" Kaleo said looking at Dmitri sincerely.

"That was the last of them..for now" Sasha sighed as she sat down to rest.

"You just realize we took out a whole Panzer Division right?" Dmitri asked. "Almost out of ammo for my PPSh..but yeah we're alive" he said trying to seem glad. "What now?'

"Face it, we're lost" Sasha replied gravely. "Our best bet is to head back towards the sound of our own artillery fire"

"Let's just get outta here" Kaleo said. "The Krauts will be back and looking to gun us down if we don't hightail it out of here quickly"

After hours of searching the city ruins the squad was able to find the unit they were in and regrouped with their comrades….that is, after a brief scolding from Captain Nikolai. They marched three days into the city.

"You've been my spotter for two months and you can't even keep up with my killcount Markoff?"

"I'm sorry, it's kinda hard to keep track of things when you're being shot at!" Kaleo said as loudly as he could.

"I'm getting hungry" Dmitri replied smacking his gums.

"We should stop to to eat, everypony's looking exhausted" Sasha agreed looking around.

"Please, my legs are killing me" Kaleo whined as he staggered to sit down.

"Fine, I'll go and ask Captain Nikolai if we can take a rest" Sasha sighed running to the front of the unit.

"Captain Nikolai"she yelled loudly as she reached him.

"Hm?" he grunted as he turned around to look at Sasha.

"What is it Sergeant?"

"The soldier's have done enough walking and fighting today..maybe we could all get some rest, don't you agree sir?"

"Hmm, It wouldn't hurt I suppose….two hours... then we march deeper to face the Wehrmacht!"

"I think they need it sir, they've earned it" Sasha added.

"Everypony, we have two hours to rest, but remember..the Germanes won't be resting until they take this city!" Captain Nikolai shouted.

The break flew by fast, but all the soldiers were relieved they had a small time to rest their aching bones and bodies. They packed up and quickly began moving deeper into Stalliongrad.

The unit began walking further as they saw the destruction and smoldering ruins of what was once a proud city. The constant bombings and artillery strikes had toppled many buildings and left many civilians homeless. The Soviets, for the past 3 months had been fighting their way through the city. Tank battles,arty attacks, and skirmishes erupted all across the city. Making Stalliongrad a living hell on earth. But the Soviet people had not given up, they would not let the Germane army have their city without a fight. The Red Army and civilians alike began to take up arms as the approaching winter came across Soviet Reign. It was about to get cold and this was a good thing for once. But not for the Krauts.

Suddenly the group heard a pleasant tune playing in the air.

"She's...just….gorgeous" said Dmitri with a bedazzled look on his face.

"Um…..Pardon me?" Sasha replied as she spun around.

"No….HER!" he said pointing his hoof pointing directly at another pony.

She was a young mare, she sat alone and played the violin. She had a gray mane and coat, and violet eyes that seemed to be focused souly on her instrument.

She played with such intensity that it lured the large group of soldiers in around her.

"Wait...don't tell me.." Kaleo groaned pinching his forehead and sighing.

"I gotta….gotta go talk to her" Dmitri said as he set his gear down and began trotting toward where she sat.

"That might not be such a good idea" Sasha called after him.

"Why exactly is that such a bad thing?" Kaleo said as he turned and faced Sasha.

"I'm surprised you don't know who she is,Markoff" she asked him raising an eyebrow.

Dmitri walked back over to the group slower than last time.

"So….what'd she say?" Sasha asked him as they turned to him.

"She said if I talked to her again, she'd kick my teeth in" Dmitri responded rather cheerfully.

"Oh...Im,sorry Comrade" Kaleo said as he did his best to keep from laughing at his friend.

"I don't understand,what's all the fuss ?" Dmitri asked as he looked over at Octavia silently.

"Do you soldiers really want to know?" Sasha said sighing.

"Uh...hello...spotter..only 2 months..?" Kaleo added. "It's not like we know everything about the war"

"That's Octavia Melodiya, she's one of the best snipers this side of Stalliongrad. Only God knows how many Germanes she's killed so far" replied Sasha huffing slightly.

"You sound a little….I don't know...jealous?" Kaleo said smirking.

"Why don't you shut that mouth soldier before I kick YOUR teeth in,huh?" Sasha snapped at him.

"Alright,alright..yeesh" Kaleo said .

"She's...just...beautiful" Dmitri said shaking his head in disbelief.

Kaleo was polishing and cleaning his gun as the unit prepared to enter a combat zone.

"Hey, it's about to get hot in the next area we'll defend...think you'll be ok comrade?" Sasha asked walking up to him.

"Yeah, I'll be fine" He told her.

"How's that rifle treatin ya?"

"It's been jamming a lot lately" Kaleo replied

"Maybe try something new?"

"But I like the rifle I have" he groaned.

"The SVT-38 is a good gun, but it won't be keeping you safe from explosives, use your head Markoff" Sasha huffed.

"I'm a terrible shot" Kaleo lied.

"Nonsense, you've been dropping those Krauts like flies and covering my back very well lately"

Sasha look over at a row of tin cans that had been on a stone wall. All had been shot off but one.

"When did you do that?" she asked him surprised.

"Took them out earlier, with my 38"

"Wait, can you shoot like that again?"

"Do I have to?"

"You won't have to be my spotter again" Sasha told him in an earnest tone.

"R-really?" Kaleo exclaimed a little surprised.

"Promise"

"Fine" he said in happier tone. Sasha smiled and handed him her Mosin-Nagant.

"Huh, you don't have your scope on?" He asked her.

"I leave it of when i'm not in combat, it's my only one" she told him.

Kaleo took the rifle and cocked it before looking at the iron sights. He took a deep breath and looked into the crosshairs. He exhaled slowly on

the last tin can and squeezed the trigger. The bullet found its mark and the can blew apart into sharp metallic pieces.

"Congratulations,soldier….you are now a new sniper in our squad" The mare said to him as she took the rifle from his hooves.

"Wow,thanks Sasha" Kaleo replied cheerfully.

"Please…...call me Sunset" she replied with a smile. "SERGEANT Sunset"

Bonus Scene:

June 30, 1942

Berlin,Germaney

Gilda knocked on the office door before hearing a loud "Come in"

She opened the door gently before stepping it the room.

She stood there and watched a SS officer write papers on his desk.

"Well,...have a seat" he said gesturing to the chair in front of the table.

"Uh….yes, I'm here because General Sombra assigned me to your command" Gilda stated as she sat down.

"I'm aware…" The officer said looking up, his green eyes looking into yellow ones.

"For a stallion he actually isn't bad looking" Gilda thought to herself.

"Let's see the information you have here….you're 21, experienced with mechanics, socially aware, and have a degree in engineering" Ethan asked her. "Is this correct?"

"Uh….yes,sir" Gilda spoke confidently.

"And your German isn't too bad either" he said slightly smiling.

"Danke Herr" she said grinning.

"Not much older than myself" Ethan continued.

Gilda hesitated at first, but then softly spoke up. "And how old would that be,sir?"

"23 and a Half" he said managing to smile a bit. The officer looked back down at the file folder and began skimming through the notes he had.

"Do you think I'm really cut out out for this jo-" The female griffon began.

Suddenly the door opened as Gilda turned to see a small red dragon walk into the office with a platter.

"Tea or coffee?" he asked.

"Huh….oh..uh...tea please" she stammered at the unexpected question.

The short dragon poured Gilda's tea and the officer a fresh cup of coffee before turning to leave the room.

"Excellent" The officer said taking a swig out of his cup.

"T-thank you" Gilda exclaimed. No reply.

Gilda stared at the door after he left. "What a Dweeb" She thought to herself.

"That was my assistant Fang if you were wondering, he's pretty smart and he doesn't mind cooking and serving drinks at all" the officer answered.

Gilda turned to face him and cleared her mind of her thoughts. "Yes...uhm..I see" she replied.

"Where were you born?" the Colonel asked with a rather stern tone.

"In Griffonstone, my family moved to Germaney a few years ago because my father knew he could get a good job working with their military" Gilda replied. "I never knew a war would start"

"So….it says here you can fly a plane?" Ethan asked.

"Yes sir, besides working in my father's shop I've flown planes since i was 16" she answered.

"It's ironic, because you have those" Ethan said

"Uh..excuse me?" Gilda said confused.

"Oh….I'm sorry I was just admiring your wings". He said.

"Uh...I..thank you..sir" Gilda said blushing nervously.

This was strange to Gilda, for the Pegasi were being persecuted daily by the Germanes for having wings. The Germanes thought they were too boastful with them.

"But of course….let's talk business" Mueller chirped tapping to straighten the papers at his desk.

"I prefer to call it duty" Gilda said boldly.

"Hmm….you seem to be very set on doing this job" said Ethan. "Not many people like spying, why do you?"

Gilda took a deep breathe before thinking about what she was going to say.

"The ones they didn't kill they used and tortured for their own entertainment….we're nothing to them!" "But...my father...tried to save us...he..he… she stammered before she went into full fledge sobbing. Gilda didn't mention the horrible things she saw the Germane Army do to pegasi as they came across in Reign Union. "I'm ready to make those monsters pay….anyway I can" she said wiping her eyes.

"Even spying on your own former birth country?" he asked.

"Yes" Gilda said confidently.

"That's all I needed to hear" Ethan said abruptly.

He continued looking through the files in silence before finally speaking again.

"Very well,….you're hired" the stallion announced.

"Thank you,sir!" Gilda said as her chest puffed up in pride. "I won't fail you!"

"Yeah..yeah…" the said waving his hoof at her. "You have 3 days to pack your things before we send you off for training"

Gilda stood up to leave his office as the young officer continued writing.

"I'll leave you to your 'business' then,sir" she said managing to smile.

"Maybe….we could get acquainted later" Ethan said with a slight smirk on his face.

"Yeah…..I'd like that" the female griffin said as she flipped her hair over and blushed a little.

Shining Armor- Prime Minister of Great Ponyland, pushing for war against Germaney.

Princess Celestia-Leader of Equestria and trying to convince the world her country needs help.

Blueblood- President of United States of Mareica.

General Sombra- Speaking on behalf of Adolf Discord AKA...Chancellor Of Germaney

Fancy Pants- Prime Minister of Coltia (France) forced into a treaty to protect his country.

A Peace Conference was called into place after Germaney invaded Equestria In 1939.

One wrong word,action,or mistake could light a fuse that would ignite the world into total destruction. It would already be too late.

Great Ponyland has declared war on Germaney, however the the U.S.M has yet to do so. Germaney has Coltia and it's leaders wrapped around their fingers.

"Now then, are we all here?" Asked Shining Armor.

"President Blue Blood grumbled. "Everyone except Discord himself, this doesn't bode well for him to be late, it's also quite rude"

After the attack on Equestria the nations were called together for a meeting to talk about what would happen next. Shining Armor had eventually convinced everyone. There was just one little mistake in his plans. Discord was supposed to be coming too.

""Discord will not be attending" said a rather deep voice from behind them.

The doors glowed a red color and opened themselves as Sombra walked in with a devilish smile. He was accompanied by high ranking soldiers, Ethan among them.

"Of course..I could only figure Adolf would send his little unicorn to do all his dirty work" Shining said

"Say what you will, running an empire requires a lot of concentration….he was worried an attempt on his life was going to be here" Sombra said as he glared angrily at Shining.

"Hey! officers will wait outside the meeting room" Shining Armor snapped.

"Oh course, of course." Sombra said playfully. He gestured for the soldiers to leave. Ethan was irritated but managed to smiled and walked out after glancing at Celestia. The rumors he had all heard were true, she truly was stunning to look at.

He and Sombra walked in, with Sombra sitting into his spot and getting cozy.

"Let's just get this over with." BlueBlood said impatiently.

"Indeed." said Celestia glaring at Sombra.

"Celestia!" Sombra said with a slight smile. "You still count as a Princess with no kingdom?"

She scowled but didn't answer.

"Now then." Began Shining. "Germaney attacked Equestria unprovoked."

Sombra shined his hoof on his chest and looked at it.

"Yes?"

"Why did Discord do it?" Shining asked him.

"We had our reasons, but I needn't tell you what they are." Sombra said sternly looking him in the eye.

"You needn't tell us?" You just invaded a neutral country for no good reason and want us to believe you!?" Shining yelled as he raised his voice and pounded his hoof on the table.

"You'd better calm yourself Shining" Sombra smirked as he leaned back in he chair.

"Be calm, how about all the pegasi you killed in my country?" shouted a voice suddenly

from down the table. "If anypony's calm, it's me!" Celestia screamed.

"Please, don't interrupt darling" Sombra said as he raised his hoof to stop her.

"What IS she talking about?" Shining asked as he narrowed his eyes.

"Germaney was given direct Permission by Princess Luna to Occupy the country, she is simply not here because her dear sister Celestia was leading a small rebellion against us and cares nothing for her sister's safety. We are protecting her.

"NONE OF THAT IS TRUE!" Celestia cried.

Ethan Winced at those words.

"Control yourself dear" Sombra said. "We are simply trying to protect Princess Luna from being dethroned by you….after all she wanted our help"

"I don't believe any of this rubbish" Shining said.

"Ask my consultant" Sombra replied.

"Minster Fancy, is this true?" BlueBlood said looking at Fancy Pants.

"Y-yes, most definitely" Fancy Pants said sweating nervously.

Princess Celestia stood up and excused herself from the meeting.

BlueBlood cleared his throat.

"We need to know if Germaney any new plans OUTSIDE of Equestria."

"No." said Sombra said "I assure you, we do not"

"You can't just attack a nation unprovoked like that." said Shining.

"Actually I can, we simply risk getting attacked by its allies. Was anyone allied with Equestria?"

No one was allied with Equestria except for Great Ponyland. It was rather undeveloped, still using spears and cannons. It kept to itself so no one had bothered with it, until now.

No one spoke up so Sombra smiled again. "Princess Luna is alive and well I tell you, we only attacked Great Ponyland's navy because we thought you were part of Celestia's little rebellion to overthrow her sister. She asked for international aid and we gave her some" The room fell silent. "As long as you can prove this" Shining Armor said.

"So who thinks that Equestria should be taken from Germaney now….Hmm?" Sombra said timidly as he looked around the room.

"I didn't think so." Fancy Pants said nervously, still sweating profusely.

"Can we move on, we have plenty to talk about." President BlueBlood said sighing.

"Very well BlueBlood." Shining said wearily. "We'll come back to this topic later."

Ethan waited outside of the meeting room impatiently. It was great that he got to come along but that wouldn't mean anything if he didn't get to act. Looks like there was a change in plans. The meeting room had five doors to enter and exit. One of them for each leader, with a fifth door just in case there was an extra. Each door was guarded by the country's few soldiers that were allowed to wait outside.

"This is gonna be tricky..."

Ethan put on the hat he prepared for this day and glanced at one of the letters he planned on giving. Taking a deep breath he walked past the door guarded by soldiers with spears. Yep, this was it. The soldiers watched him with a wary eye but he gave them a small smile and stayed out of their path.

They kept their eyes on him and relaxed when he passed them. Looking in the bathroom mirror, Ethan took a deep breath and activated his horn. There was no outward appearance. The hat he prepared to cover his horn worked, you couldn't tell if it was glowing or not, but this was the easy part.

Ethan levitated the letter with his horn, carefully moving it along the ceiling while walking normally. He held his breath as the soldiers guarding the door came into view. He gave a small wave at them to keep their attention on him.

He ignored them, carefully levitating the letter to horizontally wedge the letter in the door cracks while not slowing down. Having succeeded, he released the magic and arrived back at his post.

"Then let us talk to Princess Luna" BlueBlood exclaimed.

Sombra stopped. "I'm afraid that won't be possible" he replied.

"Then how exactly do you wish to maintain peace at this so called 'Peace Conference' Shining asked him angrily.

"Mr Fancy Please show him the terms of agreement you and Discord went over" Sombra asked.

"Y-yes, General Sombra" he said.

Fancy Pants opened up his file and slide a rather large piece of paper towards Shining.

Shining looked down the at the stack of papers and read the title at the top:Terms of Surrender.

"No…NO….NO!" Shining screamed as he flipped the table over and lunged at General Sombra. "I will not stand for this!"" he was pulled back by his cabinet of advisors.

General Sombra continued sitting in his chair across from him, giving him a smug look.

"Damn you!" Shining yelled as he was restrained and pulled even further back from his violent outburst. "I won't surrender, I won't have any form of armistice, until Equestria is free...DO YOU HEAR ME!?"

After the meeting ended, and Celestia opened her door. Much to her surprise, a letter fell at her.

"What?"

She looked around, the guards didn't seem to notice anything. It was unlikely they put it there. After hesitating for a moment, she opened it.

"Hello." the letter began. "I hopeful that the one reading this letter is indeed Celestia. I need to meet with you, alone. What we must discuss cannot be made public. I believe I can help you. If you agree, then meet me at the spot on the letter."

Celestia thought it over. This could be a trap, but it seemed unlikely for Sombra to arrange. If it was a trap and she was killed then this might actually benefit her. As the most suspicious, Germaney would become the one to take the blame and other countries might finally take her side. If it wasn't a trap then she should check it out.

"Alright." she told herself. "I'll go."

Celestia went to the meeting spot which was the soldiers dressing room. Ironically this was the most secret place to talk as all the soldiers were on duty. The room was dark as she entered. Reaching for the light switch she heard a voice.

"Leave the lights off."

Obviously, this person did not wish to become known.

"What do you want?" She asked rather harshly.

"As I said in the letter, I want to help you. However, what we talk about depends on how well you can keep a secret. Unless the answer is 'Completely' then we have nothing to talk about."

"You want to talk to ME about trust? I came here after getting your letter. We don't proceed until I know who you are."

The voice was silent for a second and then a lime green light glowed on his horn, flipping the light switch.

She winced as light flooded the room. There, in front of her, she saw a tan male unicorn with black hair and a Waffen insignia. An SS officer. A Germane.

"You! You're..." Celestia Stuttered.

"With Discord?" "Yes,This is why I wanted to remain anonymous."

Celestia was at suprised at first he spoke such good English.

"My name Is Ethan Mueller,that's all you need to know, Princess... you can trust me" replied the Officer.

"Why should I trust YOU!? Your nation attacked Equestria! You...you killed...Luna."

He clenched his teeth as his eyes showed anger but didn't lose his composure. "Why would I be risking my life to give you this information right now, then?" Ethan asked her.

"Information?" Celestia challenged him rather suspiciously.

Ethan walked towards her before reaching into his coat pocket and pulling out a slender envelope,which made her flinch.

"Relax Princess, you have nothing to fear" the stallion said as he gave a charming smile.

Celestia stood and thought about it for a moment, she had no other leads and the other leaders and delegates weren't listening to her. If this German officer was telling the truth then perhaps he could give her something she could use to convince the Allies to help Equestria and maybe even get the others in the war.

She glanced down at the envelope he hand handed her.

"NO" Ethan said firmly. "I know what you're thinking...you can't tell anyone where you got this information, I would be killed...maybe even tortured until they broke me.

"But, you said this information was going to help me!" Celestia cried. "What good is this If I can't use any of it!?"

He calmed himself and looked her in the eye.

"I took a big risk in coming here. If you shouted for help, I would be captured, locked up, interrogated, tortured, all those things. I have quite literally put my life in your hooves coming here. I'd say that deserves some trust don't you think?" Ethan said.

Celestia fell silent as lowered her head and stared at the floor.

"I never said you couldn't use it, just please do not tell a soul you received it from me" he continued.

"Why are you helping me?" Celestia asked she bit her lip to keep from crying.

"Because of her…..your sister.." Ethan. "She shouldn't have...died.."

"Thank you" Celestia said as she moved closer to him.

"I must be on my way now, Princess..farewell and goodlu-" Ethan began.

Celestia gave him a small hug suddenly before stepping back.

"Be safe, Ethan Mueller" she said. "I don't know how much I can thank you"

"I..er..y-you too" the Colonel said nervously as he straightened his hat and quickly left the room.

Ethan quickly walked down the hall before turning back towards the exit.

"Where were you,Mueller" said a voice from behind. A Germane's Voice.

Ethan Froze. No. It Couldn't Be. Had He Been Caught?

He slowly turned around to see a canary colored stallion staring back at him. His Heart skipped a beat once he saw a matching SS uniform the unicorn had on. "Well,Where were you...SPEAK" replied the officer. "I..Uh..Was adjusting my...uniform ,sir"

"For 15 minutes?" the stallion asked.

"And…..relieving myself in the lavatory" Ethan said before standing at attention.

"Well well, Looks like you know your place….Mueller" said the stallion chuckling slightly.

"I'm sorry, have we met before...uh...sir?" Ethan said as he squinted his eyes at the unfamiliar face.

"Burnhorn….Valedictorian…...Eggs?" continued the unicorn glaring at him.

"UH?...oh…..OH…..WAIT…..LUDWIG!?" Ethan said as his eyes widened in shock.

"Yes….." the officer replied smirking. "What grand times those were"

"Oh..uh...heh heh...yeah...sorry about...that…" Ethan said rubbing the back of his neck.

"You look like you haven't changed a bit….same old Mueller" Ludwig replied shaking his head.

"Wow you're a Colonel…..actually one grade higher than me" Ethan said looking at the insignia on his uniform. "Colonel Wagner, kinda has a ring to it"

"Enough chitchat, I have to wonder why General Sombra chose you and I together for this very important diplomatic assignment" Ludwig asked.

"I came to check this place out,Sombra made me tag along because he trusts me I assume" Ethan replied shrugging.

"Don't try to fool me, I saw you gawking at Princess Celestia…..how disgusting" Ludwig snapped.

"N-NO, I was just getting a good look of that treacherous pegasus an-" Ethan stammered.

"I've heard enough, How is she?" Ludwig asked abruptly.

"How is who?" Ethan asked.

"Don't Play dumb with me, " Ludwig said as a lovestruck smile came across his face. "Ms. Lulamoon"

"She is fine, we're still seeing each other" Ethan told him yawning. "I think she misses you"

"Really?" Ludwig said as a smile light up his face. "Does she ever ask about me?"

"NO" Ethan answered honestly.

"Oh,I see how it is" Ludwig said as his face became angry again and he spun back around before stomping off.

"Boy, that guy needs to have an egg or two thrown at him" Ethan thought to himself.

July 2,1942

Gilda awoke and stretched out on the bed. The morning sunbeams shone through the windows and lit the room. Her eyes shot open as Gilda sat up quickly and looked around the bedroom. "Colonel?" she asked out loud. No answer. She was all alone. Gilda sighed as she let the loneliness sink in. She laid back down and thought about leaving but a quick yawn changed her mind. Next to the nightstand she saw a piece of paper with writing on it. A note. She rolled over in the sheets and reached over to pick it up. She began reading as her heart skipped a beat. Her eyes zoomed across the page as she read. "My dear, please don't be offended of my absence." "It pains me to leave without informing you of my intentions." "I have some every important business to attend to and I had to leave in quite some hurry." "I am concerned and worry daily about the fate of this country." "You truly are a kind soul and stunning beauty of a griffoness." "I have another love in my life yet I still wish to remain close friends." "I dare not wake you to bare this ill news." " I left your assignment with a colleague of mine, go meet him and he will instruct you on your first mission." "Feel free to help yourself to breakfast in my quarters." "With adoration, Mueller." Gilda let the note slide out of her hand and stared at the wall. She knew what she had to do. "This is my chance to make a difference...I can't get attached to people….I have a duty" Gilda thought in her head. She quickly got out of bed and got ready to leave. She grabbed a piece of fruit in the officer's kitchen before heading out the door. She had a job to do
