These scrolls contained earthbending techniques and also, he left behind a pair of hook swords. These were mainly used as an extension of his reach when leaping from place to place, but he also knew how to use those in combat.

Yes, things in life were rough for Zhou, but when fate has plans for the child, it acts on them accordingly. A strange light from a mysterious blue crystal swallows the child whole and spits him out into the land of Equestria. A land full of anthro equine creatures. Little does the young earthbender know, he was brought here for a reason. And his abilities would be needed in the future.
