Load Full StoryUyia sank down to the shredded, patchy rug that she had ripped up in one of her many fits, glaring at the retreating silhouette of her mother's flank. Her mother had tried to force her down to the great hall, where they had dinner with the royal company, and... her father. She felt and expressed hate for him, but deep down in her heart, she was anguished that she disappointed him. Shining Armor always denyed it, but she could see the disappointment in his eyes, the masked cringe when she walked into the room, the shielded attitude he had with her, lest she hurt him again. He had given up on her, and she knew it. She had known since she was young, the hushed conversation her parents had. " Cadence, why is she rejecting us? D..did we do something wrong?" Shining Armor had groaned. Cadence had replied, " I don't know. You've been the best father you can be, although you've been extremely protective lately.."
Shining Armor nudged her in a attempt to show mock anger. " Well, I AM captain of the Royal guard!" Uyia had noticed, through the slightly ajar door that Shining Armor seemed to perk up, but when he remembered the topic at hand, he wilted again. "What have we done wrong?" Shining Armor croaked. Princess Cadence seemed at a loss for words, and they departed to bed. Uyia had remembered so clearly, she had hot tears streaming down her face and into her black clothes. She had slid down the wall, crying herself to sleep on the floor.
Uyia looked around her battered room for something she hadn't torn apart. She glanced at the hoof-print littered ceiling, and decided that a few more hoof prints wouldn't hurt. As she beat her powerful wings to get up to the ceiling, she happened to glance at the mirror on the dresser as she passed, and hovered for a moment to gaze at her reflection. It seemed counter-intuitive, but there was a trace of regal poise in herself that no matter how much she tried to mask it, it would still linger. Her black, sorrowful eyes slowly took in her appearance, as she had not bothered to check it in quite some time. Her sky-blue hair (a trait passed down from her father) was improperly dyed grey, so streaks of blue still showed. Her wings were exactly like the millions of royal guards patrolling the castle. A result of her... father. Her legs were covered with jewelry. Uyia heaved a sigh, then slowly decended down to the great hall. After all, ponies couldn't make her feel more wretched than she already was, right? Unfortunately, that was not the case.
As her hooves slowly grazed the intricately carved marble tiles that made up the floor in the grand, cathedral-like grand hall. A long, polished table was the focal point of the room. Ponies had tried, clearly, to be situated even remotely close to Celestia, who was sitting at one of the two seats of honor at the head of the table, Luna seated right next to her, looking as uncomfortable as Uyia was. Nobody had even tried to sit next to the Princess of the Night, as shown by the five-seat gap between the young princess and the rest of the ponies. Uyia, with her shoulders hunched, head focused on her hooves, sat next to Princess Luna.
