Many Unwise Decisions Are Made

A year had passed since Pinkie's last birthday and most of the mane6 forget the depth of Pinkie's psychotic breakdown; only Rainbow remembered the extent of Pinkie's downward spiral. It's hard to blame them though. So much had happened since Pinkie's last breakdown. Twilight became a princess and a whole new castle spawned in Ponyville. As the saying goes though, those who fail to learn from their history are doomed to repeat it.

It was about a week prior to Pinkie's birthday and all her closest 5 friends were meeting at Twilight's castle to plan things out. The timing worked in their favor to some extent. Pinkie was busy watching the Twins and wouldn't suspect a thing. Unfortunately, Spike was away at a comic convention. Seeing as none of the ponies were audacious to ask Pinkie her schedule, in fear that she'd think something was up, they didn't tell her and decided to meet on the one weekend when Spike was away.

Twilight pondered. "Hmm.. what about a surprise party?"

"What?! You gotta be kidding me! Don't you remember what happened last year?" Dash exclaimed.

Rarity seemed perplexed. "Don't you think you're being a little paranoid Dash? What even happened last year? All I remember is that she was a bit rude and suspicious of us. Then she forgave us. It was hardly an ordeal."

Dash raised her voice at that. "Hardly? Maybe that's because you didn't see what I saw."

Twilight rolled her eyes in an annoyed manner. "And what did you see that we didn't see?"

Dash didn't take a moment to cool down. "What I saw.. I saw her in her room talking to rocks and flower, acting like they were her new friends. Her hair didn't have her puffy-ness. She was insane. We can't do another surprise party. Believe me. I know what I'm talking about."

"Sugarcube, I highly doubt ya tellin' things accurately. I mean, i rememba her hair and her rude-ness, but that's just cus we made it plain as day."

"How are we supposed to hide it genius?" Dash rebutted.

AJ said in a deadpanned voice "I dunno know, but it seems awefully silly to not do somethin' cus we can't come up with a plan on the top of our heads."

Rainbow facehoofed. She wasn't getting through to any of them.

Twilight jumped in, asking their quiet friend her opinion. "What do you think Fluttershy? Does a surprise party sound good?"

Rainbow grinned her teeth at being ignored, while Fluttershy timidly raised her voice. "I-I I don't know what we should do. I think Dash might be right, but if we think we should, then that's okay too."

Twilight concluded "Alright.. then it's settled. We're throwing Pinkie a surprise party."

Rainbow slouched back in her chair in frustration. "Fine.. but I'm warning ya, she'll go insane."

Her friends just rolled her eyes.

About a week went by and the gang was more or less repeating the same mistakes, causing Pinkie to again become become might-y suspicious. This time, it was actually worse and Pinkie became insane a day earlier.

"Come on Dash, go talk some sense into her."

Dash sighed at AJ's conclusion. "I told ya, didn't I? But noooo, you all didn't listen to me."

"Ah, cut your whinin'. If ya know so much about this, then ya the best one to talk to her, right?"

Dash lightened up a bit at that. "I suppose..."

"Great! Well, I'll let the others know. You go run along now and fix up this mess."

Dash flew away rolling her eyes. How classic?! Her friends didn't listen to her and she had to go talk with insane Pinkie.

Dash flew to Sugar Cube Corner at a moderate pace. She wasn't in any hurry to see Pinkie like that again. That said, her "moderate pace" was still quite fast.

She came in with a clearly agitated facial expression and pulled up to the front desk. "Hey Mrs. Cake, can I see Pinkie? She's been in a mood lately."

Mrs. Cake seemed a little concerned by her question. "Uhh.. are you sure? She's not in the best of moods."

"I'm sure. That's why I'm here."

"Alright then, you know where it is. It's on the top floor."

Rainbow started walking to the stairs casually in mid sentence. Once Mrs. Cake finished talking, she spoke up. "Yea, yea, I know. Wish me luck."

"Be Careful."

"I know..." The agitation in Dash's voice was clear.

About a minute later, she knocked on the door. "Pinkie. Let me in, will ya."

"Go away! Traitor!"

"All right, if you wanna do it the hard way, then I'll do it the hard way!"

Rainbow flew back a little and then flew straight to the door, hoping to bust it open. Buuut, Pinkie opened it right before Dash hit it, causing the pegasus to crash inside.

"What do you want?" Pinkie asked in a rude manner. She looked the same as she did last year. Her hair went straight down and her expression was furious anger.

Dash grinned her teeth at being tricked like that and quickly got to her feet. "What I want... is for you to cheer up! This insane Pinkie act is getting old."

"Of course that's how you'd see it."

"What's that suppose to mean?" Dash stammered."

Pinkie snippy retorted "It means that you have little patience for things not going your way."

Dash was not, NOT, gonna take that sitting down. "Well, yeaaa, I have little patience for my friends acting like babies, getting cranky and sad when things don't go her way."

That rebuttal stung. Dash wasn't thinking straight. Her words only made matters worse.

A rare sight occured; Pinkamena broke down in silent tears. She was great at spitting out the snarky comments in this state, but no pony had really ever gone on the offensive when she was in this state.

Dash was blown away by this. Pinkie still had her vulnerability in this state! Dash tried to calm her down, albeit taking a moment to register things.

"Pi-Pinkie, I'm sorry. I went too far." This didn't work though. "Please calm down.."

In a tear-y angry tone, Pinkie snapped back "Go!"

Dash was taken back and walked out in shame. "I'm sorry."

Pinkie slammed the door in Dash's face right after Dash was out.

Great... she did it now. She walked down in shame.

Mrs. Cake, being concerned from the door slam, rushed to Dash when she came back down. "I-is everything alright?"

Dash sighed and continued walking. "Not really. I'm gonna give her some time to cool down. Thanks for letting me talk to her."

"Sure, I-I didn't mind. Are you sure everything is o-?"

"Yes." Dash was out of the sugar cube corner at that point and flew to one of the clouds on the outskirts of Ponyville to unwind. She had the day off and she was gonna use it.

Hours after Rainbow left, Pinkie's tears dried. "We'll see whose a baby tomorrow Dash!"

It was late and the Cakes were already asleep. This was the perfect time for Pinkie to go out and get some special ingredients. She was going to make her friends "apology" cupcakes.

Unfortunately for the mane6, Pinkie knew her ways around the Everfree forest and knew that it had a special kind of poison joke. She hunted for 5 flowers for about an hour and came back to cook up some very special cupcakes. Her Pinkamena state of mind prevented her from making the process overly loud. Not a soul was woken up by her cooking.

The next morning Pinkie's five closest friends met in the throne room as planned. Spike was still snoozing.

They were all a bit groggy, but enjoying their small talk. Rainbow wasn't joining in and AJ eventually took note.

"So.. Dash, how'd it go the other day? Ya neva came back to tell me."

Dash sighed. "Not great."

Rarity and the others took note of this conversation after that. Rarity was the first to interject. "Dash.. What did you do?"

Dash being agitated, rolled her eyes. "Ugh, why do you automatically think that?"

Rarity retorted. "I know you. That's why."

Dash got a sting of guilt from that rebuttal. "Okay.. fair enough. I did do something not great the other day."

Rarity stammered. "Well..?"

"Okay, okay, I did something terrible! I called her a baby for acting this way! Ya happy now? Now ya know!"

There was an annoyed tone to the atmosphere and everyone but Rarity was ready to tear Dash's guts out. Rarity sensed this and quickly interjected before arguments started flying. She did her best to also be easy on Dash. "Augh, it's okay Dash. I'm sure Pinkie got over it. But just to be sure, I'll go check on her."

AJ and Twi cut in at the same time. "But we need you for the decorations."

"It's okay, it's okay. I'm sure this should take but a second Darlings."

Dash lethargically interjected. "Should I come with you?"

"Negative. I don't think she'd want to see you right now. Do not worry though Dash? We've seen worse."

Dash laughed to lighten up the mood. "Haha, yea I think you're right."

Twilight cut in this time. "Okay, well, you go do that and we'll do what we can here in the mean time."

"Sounds great Darling! See you all in a millisecond!"

The rest got to their business with a couple evil eyes at Dash at every turn. Dash had thick skin and put up with it.

About 10 or so minutes later, Rarity reached Sugar Cube corner. The bakery was in the center of Ponyville and she had to use a special route that was rarely crowded at this hour. She didn't want to rudely cut anypony off from talking to her.

Once she reached the bakery, she politely knocked and less than a minute later somepony answered. Surprisingly, it was Pinkie. Rarity had forgot that this was a Sunday and the store was slow to open.

Pinkie was still in her Pinkamena phase, but forced an obviously fake smile. "Ahh, Rarity, come in. Come in. I'm sorry about how I've been acting."

Rarity acted like the cover up worked in hopes of interjecting something important in later. "Oh, thank you Darling! There's no reason to apologize. If anything, Dash should be the one apologizing."

Rarity then walked into the bakery. There was an erie atmosphere that Rarity couldn't quite nail down.

Pinkie kept up the act. "Oh not at all! I got over it. I was in the wrong and so I decided to make you all an apology cupcake."

"You didn't have to do that Dar-"

Rarity cut herself off upon seeing the cupcakes. They each were decorated to their liking and Rarity's cupcake had simply divine decorations on it, all surrounding a diamond in the center.

"I-is that gem one fo-for me?"

"You know it silly!" In the back of Pinkie's mind, she was ecstatic. Rarity was so easy to wow. "Do you want to eat it now silly willy?"

Rarity was taken aback. She wasn't expecting this. "Well I.. I really shouldn't. Too much sugar in the morning does terribly for my facial expression, but.. what the heck. As they say, when in Canterlot!"

Rarity then levitated the cupcake near her face, taking one last look, before she swallowed it whole.

Once she finished the cupcake, she exclaimed "It tasted almost as divine as it looked. You simply MUST give me the recipe when you have a moment."

"Of course Rarity." Pinkie was filled with sadistic joy inside. Annny moment now and Rarity would regress to a 6 month old foal.

There it was! Seconds after Pinkie's response, Rarity felt a pain in her stomach and as she clenched at it, trying to cover up her pain, her body shrank at light speed. Before a minute passed, she had shrunk to the ripe old age of 6 months. Much of her memories receded to the subconscious of her mind. The only memories she retained were that those who were her friend were indeed friends. Other than that, new false memories entered her mind, a memory that Pinkie was also one of her babysitters and that the re-maneing mane6 and the cake Twins were her frequent playmates.

After the transformation was complete, the baby Rarity shivered with a faint tear in her eye.

Seeing her friend so adorably vulnerable caused Pinkie to enter this weird in between phase between normal Pinkie and Pinkamena. She looked happy, her hair was puffy again, but in the back of her mind her nefarious plan was still in the works.

She quickly comforted the new baby in front of her though, picking her up from the adult chair. "There there, babysitter Pinkie is here!"

This immediately cheered up Rarity, causing her to huge the pink pony. "Hehe! Pinkie!"

Pinkie nuzzled the baby unicorn and then warmly said. "Looks like somepony needs their diap-y changed!"

Rarity giggled some more at Pinkie as the elder pony took out the baby supplies she put in one of the cooking cabinets. The pink adult laid her friend on the table and gave a fast diaper change, causing Rarity to coo. Afterwards, Pinkie nuzzled her some more and plucked a pacifier in her mouth. The baby unicorn dozed off after this, allowing Pinkie to in two trips take her, the baby supplies, and the cupcakes up to her room.

Once the downstairs had no traces of her presence, Pinkie tucked Rarity in her bed and set up her next trap.

With Rarity babified, only four more remained. Pinkie had her thoughts on who would be next and planned accordingly. The next transformation was going to be possibly easier than the last.

An hour went by and the time was about 9:30. The rest of the mane6 were getting worried.

"Oh dang nabbit. Leave it up to Rarity to take her time with somethin like this. I coulda sworn she'd be back by now."

Twilight added in. "I know what you mean. I was thinking she'd be back at least by now. Should one of us go over there and maybe remind her that we need her help."

Dash raised her right hoof. "I could do that."

AJ did another dig at Dash "Haha, yea right. Ya may be fast, but you're also curt. May I remind you why Rarity left in da first place? If anyone's going over there to give Rarity a sense of schedule, it'd be me. If I ain't back in the next 20 minutes, something has happened and I recon there's more to what's goin on that meets the eye."

Twilight and Fluttershy nodded.

Dash rolled her eyes and said "Fine." She was still hoping to redeem herself after all. This put her redemption back a little bit.

AJ walked briskly out of the castle on task. She took the straight path to the bakery, only waving quickly to folks that passed her by. She was being everything Rarity was afraid of, rude and un-feeling to others' desires to talk.

In about 4 minutes she got to the Bakery and walked inside. The sign said it was open after all.

The Cakes greeted her and she quickly greeted back. "Hey all yall, I'm coming by to see if I could meet with Pinkie and Rarity. Sorry to be rushed, but we got work to do and Rarity is taken her sweet time."

The couple looked at AJ with confusion. Mrs. Cake spoke up. "Well, you're free to go up and meet with Pinkie, but we haven't seen Rarity at all this morning. When we asked Pinkie to come down, she simply told us that she'd be using one of her days off. If I were you, I'd be careful. She slammed the door on Rainbow yesterday."

AJ was a little concerned by this. Where on Equestria was that unicorn when she needed her?

"I thank you kindly for your concern, but there's no need. I have a softer touch then RD. I'll get her out of her stink. Trust me."

Mrs. Cake nervously said back "Alright. Just be careful now."

"You bet I will."

AJ walked upstairs at a fast pace and knocked on the door. "Pinkie, ya got a moment?"

Pinkie didn't answer, but thought to herself how perfect this all was. AJ was gonna be the easier pony to fall for this trap.

AJ sighed after hearing nothing. "Look Pinkie. I know you're in there and I know Dash said some mean things yesterday, but I won't bite. I promise."

Pinkie didn't respond verbally, but with her little crane toy unlocked the door.

AJ could hear the door unlike and thought that this was a sign that Pinkie was vulnerable, but wanted to talk.

Right as AJ was opening the door, Pinkie purposely screamed at the top of her lungs, causing AJ to quickly open the door and yell back "AHHHHH!"

In that brief millisecond of AJ of opening her mouth, a cupcake flew into her mouth causing AJ to swallow it whole. Turns out that right as AJ was opening the door, Pinkie screamed and also released the AJ cupcake. Pinkie also had put earplugs in Rarity's baby ears to not wake the baby.

Before AJ could even process a thing, she was regressing at light speed and in less than a minute hit the ripe age of 6 months, just like Rarity.

Pinkie quickly put a pacifier in her mouth to shut the little one's mouth and put her on the bed.

Mr. Cake knocked on Pinkie's door after that. "Pi-Pinkie, is everything alright? We heard you scream."

Pinkie opened the door, with her body hiding the two new babies. "Ab-so-lute-toodly!" Pinkie was playing up the act perfectly.

"O-okay, well. If ya need us, please let us know."

"Will do! Thanks for being sweet Mr. Cake."

He blushed, quickly saying "No problem." and walked back downstairs. Pinkie played him like a fiddle. She knew Mr. Cake was a bit of a socially awkward pony and flattery worked like a charm.

Once he was out of sight, Pinkle gently closed the door and turned around to the now silent crying AJ. Like Rarity, she only retained her memory of who were her friends and family members, but saw Pinkie as her babysitter and the Twins as well as the remaining mane6 as her playmates.

"Ahh, come here. I'm sorry about that. Babysitter Pinkie shouldn't have left you all alone." Pinkie then kindly removed the pacifier.

The baby AJ wiped her tears away and smiled, lifting her hands to be raised. She wasn't as resilient as her adult self, but she was by far an easy pony to sooth. "Woow, woow there. Somepony needs their diapy changed first!"

Pinkie then pulled out the diaper supplies, gave a fast diaper change, and plucked the pacifier back in. Once all was said and done, she picked up the pony and rocked her back and forth in a rocking chair.

This was becoming easier than Pinkie ever could have imagined.

Sometimes Worrying is A Reasonable Response, The Cynic Becomes Innocent

Time was flying by and the remaining party of friends was getting nervous. Twilight was nervously looking at the clock, Fluttershy was worried with Twilight's facial expressions, and Rainbow was sulking in her chair.

After the clock hit 21 minutes, Dash exploded "Unbelievable! Leave it up to AJ to do something like this!"

Twilight was still anxious, but she couldn't help but reply to Rainbow's comment. "What is that suppose to mean Dash? This is nothing like AJ! Why on Equestria is she not back yet?!"

Dash cleverly retorted. "How am I suppose to know? Why don't you go ask her yourself?"

This ignited Twilight into a frenzy of anxiety, causing her to rush up to Dash's seat. "You think?! Oh.. I hope she's okay. This is totally unlike her."

Dash was completely transparent, only causing Twilight more concern. "Twilight, I think the two of them are fine. You're weirding me out. So, please cut it out."

Twilight started pacing around the throne table after this. "Oh, what do we do? What do we do?"

Fluttershy nervously watched as Twilight became more frustrated and eventually her face elicited a response from Twilight.

"What do you think I should do Fluttershy?!"

Fluttershy timidly suggested "U-um maybe go to the bakery and see for yourself.." Fluttershy didn't really know how to calm Twilight down at these moments.

"That's a great idea! I'll be right back! Don't worry! I'm sure the two just got into an argument or something. I'll go there, resolve it, and bring everyone but Pinkie back. Nooo need to worry."

Dash rolled her eyes. "Then stop worrying."

That comment caused Twilight to pause briefly and then run outside the castle.

Rainbow slouched back in her chair. "Good lord, Twilight is such a worrywort."

"U-um, do you think she'll be alright?"

"No need to worry Fluttershy. This is just Twilight reacting to things not going as planned."

"I mean, do you think AJ, Rarity, and Pinkie are okay?"

The question reminded Rainbow of what she had done. "Look I don't know and frankly I don't want to think about it. I'm sure they're just taking longer than they should. This is Pinkie we're talking about."

"I suppose..."

"There's really only one thing I'm unsure of right now."

"What's that?"

"For the love of Celestia, where is Spike? I expected him to be up by now."

"He's probably just tired after staying up so late to help Twilight with this schedule."

"Wow, things could not be going worse today. Pinkie's having an emotional breakdown, Rarity just had to go fix it up herself, AJ is taking her time, and now Twilight's in a frenzy. Not to mention, we only were able to complete so much of the decorations without Rarity's help!"

Rainbow's frustration triggered a slightly frustrated response from Fluttershy. "You caused this all to happen, remember?"

"Augh! Don't remind me! It's bad enough that everything else has happened."

"Sorry.. That was rude of me."

"It's alright.. In the mean time, I'm gonna snooze off in my throne chair. Wake me up when they all get back."

Fluttershy nodded and not long after the pegasus dozzed off.

Fluttershy was concerned, but chose to keep company with angel and watch him draw some art. The bunny was a bit ansy with Fluttershy. The animal never liked receiving limited attention.

As for Twilight, she took to the skys, high tailing it straight to the bakery. This was no laughing matter. They were supposed to start the party at 2 o'clock and it was already 10:30. If this party was supposed to happen tonight, she needed her friends to hurry.

Pinkie foresaw one of two things happening. Either Twilight or Rainbow would show up, which meant she had to take to the balcony and cut them off before they came in contact with Mr. and Mrs. Cake. Little did Pinkie know, her plans were going off without a hitch.

By the time Twilight was coming by, Pinkie had already tucked AJ in her bed with Rarity. The two babified friends unintentionally wound up hugging each other in their sleep. They were too adorable and Pinkie would have loved to just watch the two jewels sleep, but she had anger to satiate. So, she had quietly walked out to the balcony and closed the door behind her.

About a minute outside she spotted Twilight and took a deep breath. That was close. If I had stepped out a moment later, she would've missed the alicorn. Without a second to lose, Pinkie called out to Twilight.

"Twilight! Woo Hoo!! Over here Twilight!"

Twilight quickly spotted her friend and flew down. "Pinkie! Oh how I am glad to see you? Where's Rarity and Applejack? They left to find you and they haven't come-"

Pinkie interjected with her normal joyful demeanor. "Twilight, Twilight, calm down silly. They already left a couple minutes ago."

"Oh.." Twilight took a deep breath. "That's good. I was getting worried for a second there." To Twilight, everything seemed okay now. Pinkie was even acting as her normal self.

After a pause of relief, Twilight turned around "Well, I'll be heading out then. I'll see you in a-"

Pinkie cut in again. "Wait, wait silly. I haven't even had an opportunity to give you my apology cupcake."

Twilight expression quite rapidly to curiosity. "Apology cupcake?"

"Yeah! I made one for each of you! I felt bad after yesterday and well.. Dash was right. I was being a baby. I don't know what you all are up to, but I trust that you're not abandoning me. I sorta took up a lot of time apologizing to Rarity and AJ and held them up. I'm sorry about that."

Twilight fell for Pinkie's story hook line and sinker. The alicorn had a tender expression of joy on her face. "You didn't have to do that Pinkie. But I really appreciate it. You know, I could deliver these to the rest of our friends if you want."

Pinkie spoke up in what seemed like panic. "No. No, that's not necessary. I wouldn't want to keep you all from what you're doing. I-I would like to give them their cupcakes in person. That reminds me, I almost forgot to show you my apology card."

"Aww, you really went above and beyond Pinkie. You didn't have to do any of this."

"Nonesense! I couldn't fall short of apologizing to my very best friends."

Twilight walked up to the cupcake that was intended for her. It was a dark blue cupcake with several star shaped designs on it. "Wow Pinkie, you spare no detail. Thank you again for this. You really went beyond what you needed to do."

At that moment, Pinkie opened the door and shoved the cupcake in Twilight's mouth, causing her to swallow it whole. Right before the effects took over, Pinkie closed the balcony door.

In the millisecond before Twilight's regression started, she saw her two friends babified in Pinkie's bed. Only one thought went through her head before it was over. 'Oh no..' After that Twilight was shrinking to the ripe age of 6 months. The regression took less than a minute and much about the alicorn princess changed in that time span. Her memories of her friends and family remained in tact, but new memories also flooded into her brain. She now saw Pinkie has her normal babysitter and believed her remaining four close friends as well as the Cake Twins were her regular playmates.

Pinkie was successful. She regressed Twilight without anypony interjecting. As Pinkie pondered on her great success, the baby alicorn looked around worried. She couldn't see anypony at her height and she wanted her babysitter. Pinkie saw this and used her natural babysitter charm, popping up behind Twilight "How's my wittle baby alicorn doing?"

"Pinkie!" Twilight motioned for a hug. She was so happy! She wasn't alone. Her friend and babysitter was just being silly.

"Hey Twilight, I think I know what you'd like!"

Twilight adorably tilted her head "Huh?"

"Mister Smartypants!" Pinkie pulled out the stuffed animal from her closet. She made a little 'trip' to the castle last night and stole the stuffed animal for exactly this purpose.

Twilight's expression instantly changed to one of joy. "Smaw-tay Pans!" The foal grabbed the toy from Pinkie's hoof and started suckling on it.

"Awwwww, such a good baby girl. Well, somepony still needs a new diap-y today!"

Twilight didn't really pay attention to Pinkie. She was too immersed in her favorite toy.

Pinkie gave a motherly smile. "Foals will be foals." The pink party pony applied yet another quick diaper change and rested Twilight in her bed with Rarity and AJ.

Pinkie was almost certain that the next pony would be Rainbow and she fully intended to stop the act for her pegasus friend. Rainbow deserved a special introduction into foalhood.
