A future of rainbows (Redo)
Prologue(updated)
It was a beautiful day outside. Birds were singing, and flowers were blooming. It was a beautiful day for moving into a new town. I suppose it would be for anypony except-
"ARGH! Why do we have to move!?" groaned the twelve year old filly.
I suppose it would be for anypony except for..... Rainbow dash. She hated the thought of having to leave her home. She was so annoyed to have to leave Cloudsdale to some dumb old ground land of the sort. It would be different if she was moving somewhere still located in the sky, but not a chance! She had to live near the ground. The family were now flying on their way to their new home.
" I've told you a million times Rainbow, I have been reassigned to Ponyvile." said her father. " It's out of my hands."
"Why didn't you just say ' I'll pass' so we could stay in the sky, not the ground?" the girl whined.
" Now dear, I know you're upset, but maybe you might like Ponyvile. I heard Fluttershy was going to be there. Won't that be nice to see her again?" her mother stated trying to cheer up her daughter. Rainbow pondered for a minute trying to remember who Fluttershy was. Soon it clicked back into her memory.
" Oh yeah, Flutters. Haven't seen her in so long, I almost forgot about her.", Rainbow replied. "Maybe moving to Ponyvile won't be so bad."
"That's the spirit Dash, I knew you would come to a understanding of things.", chuckled her father. Rainbow Streak looked toward Rainbow still to see the same down casted look from her
" I still don't like the idea of moving to the ground. We are Pegasus, if we were meant for the ground we would be Earthponies or, Unicorns!" Rainbow stated in a fluster.
" I hear ya kiddo, but it's our job as Pegasus to provide the weather for the land below." her mother said.
" Yep! Your mother is right, but look at the bright side! I'm going to be manager!" streak smiled in excitement.
" That's cool and all, but what does that have to do with me?" Dash said,not intrigued. Firefly and Rainbow Streak looked straight towards their daughter, giving her looks stating 'Are you serious?', but Rainbow didn't seem notice, seeing how she was to busy looking down at all the houses and ponies below. Streak wanted to be a smartass by saying ' the money I get, pays for the food you eat, your education, the bills and taxes so you can live in a house, but your right, how does this concern you?'. Instead he just said.
" With this job, I can get better seats at the Wonderbolt shows."
" That's awesome!!!!!" she said in aw' she was continued looking down below to see nothing but empty field of grass now. " Are we almost there yet?"
" Yep, it's right up ahead." her mom said. Rainbow look ahead to see a lump of cloud in the distance. She couldn't really tell it was house from this far away.
" That's a house?" she questioned with an unsure look on her face. Her father chuckled loudly.
" You'll see in a moment" he laughed. The so called 'house' was coming into view. The closer they got to it, the bigger it looked. Once they were about a good feet away it was about the size of a mansion, heck it practically was. Rainbow's when a gasp at the site of it.
"Woah! This place is huge!" she shouted in shock.
" It would look huge to a shorty like you wouldn't it." Streak joked.
" I'm not short!" she grumbled.
" Rainbow is right dear. She is not short...." Firefly said with an unamused look on her face as she paused for a moment. Seeing as Rainbow thought her mother was done speaking, she gave a satisfied grin and started to thank her.
" Thank you m-" she started to say until she was rudely interrupted by the very pony she was trying to thank.
"She is not short......" a smug grin appeared on her face as she continued. She started to snicker. " She's fun sized!" Rainbow just gave her mother a plain look while Streak started laughing and gave his wife a hi-five.
" Wow mom...... just wow..." she said in a sarcastic voice. She couldn't help it, a smile was creeping on her face as she started chuckling. " I hate you guys. heh heh. I really do."
" Awwww, come on Dash, I agreed with you. You're not short." her mom was cracking up.
" Hahahah! Nope. Stop talking to me I hate you guys now. Like forever." she said while laughing.
" Aww, Dashie we were kidding!" Streak chuckled.
"Mhm, sure but I'm not joking heh heh." she giggled. The family landed on the porch of the house.
" Alright, let's calm down. You ready to see the inside of our new home?" he grinned.
" You bet I am!" Rainbow cheered with anticipation. Rainbow Streak took out a set of keys out of his saddle bag and walk toward. Before he opened the door, he spoke with a breath saying.
" Here we go...." he said. He unlocked the door, then opened and held the door open for his wife and daughter. "Ladies first." he said in a horrible Trottingham accent. Firefly chuckled.
"Why thank you sir, you're too kind." she said in a perfect Trottingham accent.
"How you do that?" he questioned in astonishment.
" Did you forget that my mom is from Trottingham dear?" she chuckles.
" Oh.... Oh! Oh yeah! Now I remember." he said.
" Wow....." she said nonchalantly
" I know...."
" yeah... let's head inside, c'mon Rainbow-" She paused noticing her daughter was already inside.
"Woah, this place...................................................................................................................................IS AWESOME!!!!!!!" she yelled in excitement.
" I know right! This place may be a tad too big for a family of three, but at least I didn't have to pay a single bit for this place!" Streak exclaimed happily.
" Why is that?" asked Rainbow.
" The company offered to pay for our new home, if your father took up the job. said her mother.
" Is Dad that good at his job?"
" Pft! Am I 'that good' at my job!? Kid, I'm amazing!" he started as they walk into the living room of the house.
" Now you've done it." Firefly sighed in annoyance.
" Sorry..... I didn't know he would react like that...." she muttered as her father blabbed on about how 'awesome' he was. If she didn't know where her bragging from then, she knows now.
" Tsh! I don't know how I'm not owning the company by now! Soon the boss is going to be stepping down. He's probably going to give the company to his snot nose brat of a son. He's twenty and the guy acts like he's four. He has no experience what's so ever at owning a company. We would probably go bankrupt if Mr. Glider gives the company over to his son." he yammered on and on, until his wife put a hand over his mouth to shush him.
" I think we get the point dear." she said rolling her eyes. " Hey, Rainbow. How about you go ahead and explore the house a little, while your father and I unpack some stuff." she said contently. " This would also be a great opportunity for you to choose your room." she said.
" Right!" Rainbow grabbed her bags and went to explore each room. The first room she came across was the kitchen. There was nothing particular about it, the only the there was a sink, a fridge, a stove, a oven, and a couple of empty cabinets. The next room she observed was what seem to be a guessed room.... that was already decorated? From seeing this, she was guessing her parents have visited here before today. She left the room and continued her route. It took her about forty minutes to view the whole house. She didn't even notice her mother going up and down the stairs or her father's disappearance.
Rainbow went to living room and collapsed on the couch........Couch!? She just now notice a couch made of cloud was now in her living room. Along with a few empty and non empty boxes. Man, Mom and Dad sure work fast. she thought to herself.
" Hey, Dash. If you done exploring, come up stairs. There's something I want you to see." her mother called. Just like that, Rainbow reluctantly went up stairs. She saw her mother waiting for her at the top of the staircase.
" Yeah, what is it you wanted to show me?" Rainbow asked.
" Close your eyes." she instructed. Rainbow did as she was told and closed her eyes. After about thirty seconds of walking they stopped.
" You can open your eyes now." Firefly said. Rainbow opened her eyes and gasp. Her mother had decorated a room for her and it was Wonderbolt themed. She cried tears of joy at the sight. It was beautiful, the room even came with it's own bathroom.
" I figured you didn't choose your room yet, so I chose one that I thought you might like." her mother smiled.
" Thank you.... Thank you so much." Rainbow said in an audible whisper. Firefly chuckled at how over dramatic her daughter was being right now.
" You're welcome sweetheart." her mother said with a sincere smile on her face. Rainbow tears subsided and she hugged her mother. Her tail wagged for second. Her mom chuckled at the sight of that. " Yes. Yes, I know I'm the greatest right now." she giggled. They held each other in a tight embrace, as they did so, they happen to hear a familiar voice shout out.
" I got pizza!" The instant that was said,Rainbow was already gone out her room. The only thing that remained was the dust she left behind in the race to the pizza.
" Welp, there goes my time of praise." she sighed, leaving Rainbow's room and, heading downstairs.
" Burrrppppp!" Rainbow blush in embarrassment. "Excuse me..."
" Well, glad to see you enjoyed dinner." her father said as he snickered.
" Now that you've eaten Rainbow, get washed up and head to bed. You have school tomorrow." Firefly said. The filly groaned, she entirely forgot that today was the last day of summer vacation. " I know dear, but hey at least tomorrow you can start making some new friends." she said in a comforting tone.
" That sounds great" Rainbow said trying not to sound sarcastic.
" Don't worry Rainbow you soon find a way to love it here." her mother smiled. " Now go on, go get ready for bed."
" Alright I'm going." Rainbow said as she walked up the stairs. " Night Mom, Night Dad."
" Night Dash (Dashie) and Happy Birthday" They said in union. Rainbow went to her bedroom bathroom to brush her teeth, then afterwards she left the bathroom and put on her Pj's. She turned off her light laid silently in her bed. I sure hope I can make some friends here... if not at least I have Fluttershy. she thought as she went to sleep.
It was seven o'clock in the morning when Rainbow was awaken by an anxious beeping that was coming from her alarm clock. Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! " Nngh....... shut up......" she groaned tiredly. Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! The clock continued making that annoying sound refusing to be ignored. " Alright! I'm up! Gosh!" Rainbow clicked the off button and stood up. She yawned and rubbed the tiredness from her eyes. Rainbow walked into her closet and grabbed her cloths of choice. Thank Celestia that the school allowed free dress. The clothes picked out were some blue jean, a black T- shirt with her cutie mark on it and, a light blue leather jacket that was a tad darker shade than her fur. Once she had put on her clothes, head downstairs to be welcomed by a plate of blueberry pancakes. " Awesome! Pancakes!"
" Wanted to make your first day awesome!" said here mother in the kitchen, washing the pan she used to make the pancakes. Rainbow rush over to her pancakes and started chowing them down like a starving animal. " Slow down honey. You wouldn't want to get a stomach ache now would you?" said Firefly. Rainbow didn't hear a thing as she finished her pancakes.
" I'm sorry, did you say something?" Rainbow said with a satisfied grin.
" Never mind." her mother sighed.
" Ready for school champ!?" her father asked in excitement.
" As ready as I'll ever be."
" Alright let's get going." said streak. Rainbow and streak flew out the door and set a course straight to school. While on their journey they happen to see other parents taking there kids to school. Soon they arrived. It was a small red school house with cute little designs on them and a playground next to it. " Here we are!" he said as he and Rainbow landed in front of the school. " You have a good day at school, ok."
" Yes Dad, I will."
" Give your old man a hug." he said as he opened his arms out. Ready for his daughter's embrace. Rainbow hug her Dad tight and after a moment she let go. " Bye Dashie, see ya after school." he said as he started ascending into the sky. Rainbow waved good-bye as she watched him fly off. Rainbow was startled by a surprised gasp behind her. She slowly turned around to see a pink with a fizzy mane.
" YOU'RE NEW TO PONYVILE!!!! HI I'M PINKIE PIE!!!! WHAT'S YOUR NAME!!!!???" she yelled in excitement. This pony is way too loud. Thought rainbow.
" Um, I'm Rainbow Dash." she said.
" WANNA BE FRIENDS!?" she asked. Rainbow was afraid to say yes but, she needed a friend or somepony to talk to.
" sure...." she hesitated a bit.
" GREAT! COME ON! I GOTTA INTRODUCE YOU TO THE OTHERS" she exclaimed. The others? Rainbow thought as she without thought follow pinkie to a tree near the swing set. There were five girls. One a unicorn, with white fur and a dark purple mane, another an earth pony along with Pinkie pie, with orange fur and blonde mane with a brown Stetson on her head, a familiar Pegasus with yellow fur and pink mane, another unicorn with the same white fur but with a light pink and purple mane, and another earth pony, with yellow fur red mane with a pink bow. "GUYS!!!! MEET MY NEW FRIEND RAINBOW DASH! SHE'S NEW TO PONYVILE!!!"
" Hello darling, it's a pleasure to meet you. We have heard so much about you. said the purpled mane unicorn.
" You have?" Rainbow raised an eyebrow.
" Why of course. Oh where are my manners? I'm Rarity-." she said as she grab the other white unicorn in her embrace. " And this little cutie is my little sister, Sweetie belle."
" Hello!" she said in a cheery tone.
"Howdy partner, I'm Applejack and this little pink bowed angel is my sister Applebloom." she said as she shook her hand.
" And you must already know Fluttershy." she assumed.
" Yeah I know her." she replied. Heya Flutters. she greeted.
" Hey Rainbow, it's good to see you again." she said with a shy smile.
" Excuse meh, but have ya seen uh orange filly with uh purple mane come by here?" asked Applebloom.
" No, can't say that I have." Rainbow said.
" Seriously Scootaloo, ya really gonna be late to the first day of school...." Applebloom grumbled under her breath.
" Look Applebloom! Here she comes." Sweetie pointed to the speck in the horizon. It was coming in fast. The closer it got, the more clear it was to see it was a filly on a scooter. You could barely see her face. As she got closer the filly yelled.
" WATCH OUT!" she tried to slow down. Before Rainbow could try to move out the way, it was too late. All she could was close her eyes and wait for the incoming impact, but it never came. " That was a close one" said the newcomer as she started unlatching her helmet.
"ARE YOU CRAZY YOU COULD HAVE BRUTALLY INJURED ME, YOU-" she paused as filly's face was revealed.... she was beautiful. The filly wiped the sweat off her forehead with an arm. All Rainbow did was stare in awe. Why is my heart beating so fast? she thought to herself. The filly flipped her mane to the right side to fix her mane. To Rainbow the whole thing was in slow motion. Woah, she pretty.... WHAT THE HECK AM I THINKING!?!? Her face was steaming in a flush.
" So sorry about that. It's a good thing noppony got hurt. So you were saying...?"
" Uh.... you look really sincere." Rainbow said to cover up what she was actual going to say.
" I am. Anyways I'm Scootaloo." She gave out her hand to shake Rainbow's hand. Rainbow did the same.
" I'm R-rainbow Dash." She greeted nervously. Why the heck am I nervous? Just before they could get to know each other, the bell rang notifying them to get inside the school house for class. Scootaloo grabbed her hand and start running towards the entrance of the school house.
" Come on we do want to be late to class" she said. " You can sit next to me!" she exclaimed. Rainbow blushed, as her body moved on it's own. Yep! I'm in love.....
After a tiring day of English, Math, Social studies and etc, it was time for everypony to head home.
" There goes our father sweetie. It was nice hanging out with you rainbow. Can't wait to see you tomorrow. Goodbye girls" she said as she took her leave. Rainbow was so happy to have made some awesome new friends. They all had their cutie marks, except for the now known name to Rainbow, the cutie mark crusaders or crusaders for short. Rainbow blushed once again when she was hugged by Scootaloo.
" My ride is here. See you tomorrow." she said as she released Rainbow from her embrace. Scootaloo walked over to a filly who look to be a high school age in black hoodie. You could see her face or mane, the only thin seen was her muzzle, which was awfully suspicious to Rainbow. Why doesn't she show her face? she thought with concern for Scootaloo's well being. Rainbow saw as Scootaloo smiled at the older girl. Rainbow also notice a smile creep on to the other girl's face as she pick out scootaloo and put her on her shoulders. Seeing as her muzzle was a brown and her tail was black, Rainbow got a idea of what the girl possibly looked like. Rainbow just now noticed the girl had wings as she saw her wings spread open and soar into the sky.
Rainbow walked over to Applejack to see if she could help answer her questions. " Aj, who was that?" Rainbow asked, pointing in the girl's direction.
" Oh, her? That's Scootaloo's cousin, Ayshian (Ash-shin)" she replied nonchalantly.
" Why doesn't she show her face? Is she ugly or something?"
" Oh. She rarely shows her face anymore... not since tha' accident." said Applejack.
" What accident?" Rainbow asked. Wanting to know more.
" Tha' is something you gotta ask her yourself" said the farm girl. Rainbow was sort of disappointed. She was so eager to know more. Rainbow turned around to see her dad waiting for her.
" There's my Dad, Bye Gals."
" Bye." they said in union. Rainbow walked over to her father who greeted her with smile.
" How was my little angel's first day of school?" he asked sweetly as they flew on their way. Rainbow was too busy thinking about that mysterious filly to even hear her father. Soon Scootaloo came to mind. She couldn't help but day dream.
Scootaloo I know we just met today, but I love you. Rainbow confessed.
I love too Rainbow. Oh kiss me Dash! Rainbow dipped Scootaloo in her arms and smirked.
With pleasure~ Rainbow passionately kissed Scootaloo, until she heard a familiar stallion calling her name from a distance.
" Rainbow!" the voice called again.
"Huh?" Rainbow was snapped back into reality to find out that she was making out a piece of cloud. Where the freak did this cloud come from?! Rainbow thought to herself.
" So who is he?" her father asked.
" He who?"
" Don't play coy with me. Who's the little colt that stole my daughter's heart?" he asked with a smug look. Rainbow looked at him with a nervous smile. Streak's smile disappeared. " Oh....... It's a filly isn't it......?" Rainbow nodded slowly. " Well, we both know we can't let your mother find out about this. They both cringed at the memory of the first time Rainbow told her she liked a filly. Firefly gave her a long lecture about how being in love with a pony of the same gender was a sin and those who do will burn in Hell with all the other sinners. Streak often reminded her that God would still love them and that one of his commandments was to love others as you love yourself, but Firefly didn't listen. She hated all lesbians and gays. She is very homophobic.
" You're right. She would flip!" Rainbow said. The two didn't even know they were about to bump into the door of their house, until they looked forward. " AHH!" Rainbow and Streak came to a stop two inches away from the door .
" Few...." they sighed in relief. They entered the house to find the kitchen and most of the house set up. There were a more empty boxes on the ground.
"Wow..... Hey mom." Rainbow greeted. Shaking off her daze of awe.
"Hey honey, how was your first day of school?" she asked.
" It was awesome! When Dad left from bringing me to school I met this girl Pinkie. She was pretty weird,but cool. She took me to meet her friends and then-"
FOUR HOURS LATER
" And then Dad picked me up." said rainbow said cutting out the part about her and her Father's conversation on the way home. Her mother just smiled as he elbowed her husband to wake up.
" That sounds great hun. I'm glad you made some friend today. Right Dear?" she said as she turned to husband just to see him asleep again. This time she elbowed him in stomach.
" Mhf!" he groaned in pain as he held his stomach.
" Right Dear?" she said in commanding tone while giving him a disapproving glare.
" Yeah. What your mother said." Streak said wincing in pain.
" Rainbow would you please set the table while I get dinner started?" she asked politely
" Sure, no problem" she responded. Rainbow left to go set up the table and about thirty minutes after Rainbow set up the table her mother had finished cooking. She made baby carrots, mash potatoes, and peas.
" Alright let's say prayer." said Firefly. They all held hands and said prayer
" Bless us Lord, and these thy gifts, Which we are about to receive from thy bounty, though Christ, our Lord. Amen" They said in union before they sat down. It was a very peaceful dinner, there was laughter, story telling, and all sorts of fun. Everything was going well until streak saw something that almost made him choke on his food. Rainbow was making a the face of what streak assumed to be the filly she was crushing on out of her food. Before Firefly could see it Streak took a big scoop off of Dash's plate. Rainbow instantly snap out of her trans, When she saw what she had been doing, she silently thanked her Dad for the save. Firefly notice her Husband stealing food off Rainbow's plate.
" Why are you taking food away from our daughter's plate....?" Streak starting sweating.
" Uhhhhhhhhhh......" his sweating was turning into a flood his eye started darting left and right.
" It's ok mom I'm not really that hungry tonight. May I go to bed?" asked Rainbow.
" Of course sweetie. Good night." said Firefly.
" Night Dashie." said Streak. Rainbow walked up to the stairs and head to her room. She took off her cloths and put on some fresh Pj's. After have put on her pajamas she got on the bed and put the blankets over her. She stared at the ceiling for moment as she reminisced about today. Maybe living here won't be so bad after all... she thought, before she closed her eyes and fell into a peaceful slumber.
