Personal recording; Dr. Cainum, subject: GRYPHX suit & Keeper model
"The procedure that I was undergoing was unbearably excruciating. I had designed it to be so in order to cull those who would crumble under just as much pain, so a healthy dose of tolerance was needed. Due to the grafting and genetic alteration that was happening on a faster scale than biologically safe, quite a few would die and then be recycled. Cybernetic enhancements and such were also added for extra oomf, so to say, one of which was a guidance system that would become a 'tether' or 'leash' so a guide, or 'Keeper' would be able to steer those of us who were deemed combat ready, allowing us to rend the creatures that we had been designed to kill. The Super Mutants."
"For added flare, wings and thrusters were given to the 'Keepers' who would be less armored than the GRYPHX soldiers. Due to psychological issues that I had foreseen, I had required that each GRYPHX and Keeper were to be of opposite gender to allow... stress relief in between moments of battle and bouts of rest, and the armor to be movable and severely reinforced in certain areas. The battery life of each GRYPHX and Keeper were near indefinite due to the Cybernetic rethrow system added in that allowed each to recharge on the go using natural lightning, radiological waste, and other power sources, along with a re-breather system that would allow for indefinite under-water use that would engage when completely submerged."
"I wont go into the time I spent designing and redesigning them of course, that was before the war. I was currently in the final stages being recreated into a GRYPHX, while my Keeper was going through her final stages as well, we would be paired up and put into the 'pens', a holding area designed to allow for the pairs to acclimate to hearing each others thoughts and certain functions of the enhancements. I had designed them around a certain mythological creature that just happened to coincide with my country."
"The genetic alteration allows the GRYPHX and the Keepers to not only survive the radiation, but harness it to their advantage, considering that we had to study ghouls and the such to understand how they did it though, it took a while after the bombs that fell for thew fallout to dissipate in order to grab any of course. Regeneration was needed to constantly adjust to the weight of the armor, the GRYPHX Apha suit alone weighed three hundred pounds, not counting the cybernetics and servos used to move the armor. I took a page from my favorite game, Rings, the space adventure where you go around the known universe as a soldier protecting the human race from the Fulcrum, an alien race of religious nut-jobs who try to wipe out all of existence using a series of ancient weapon. They had power armor of sorts that would "listen" to the mind of the user and respond in kind, faster than ever. I had a failsafe designed into each of the neural interfaces, they were also set for muscle track movement, allowing them to function even if the neural interface would be damaged till they had the time to come back for a repair. I have yet to be able to set nanobots to be able to repair things that delicate yet."
"Of course, the motion tracker setting was slower, but it had a bit more oomf, so to speak. Now, I had integrated the Pipboy into the armor, but due to the fact that I built the GRYPHX suit around melee, I modified the SATS to dodging, but I didn't alter it for the Keeper model due to the fact that they would still be able to operate weapons. So far the only thing that I could possibly label as a weakness would be long time extreme heat exposure, and that would be mostly moot due to the fact that no one would sit still while being burned alive."
"The last plates of graphene-titanium were being secured and moored together, preventing them from ever coming apart without the proper tools. The heat syncs activated and I was lowered to the ground as my suit was powered up, allowing me to finally move for the first time in four days. Since the genetic alteration and hardening happened on the first day, I was already somewhat use to my new body. I could feel the difference from before and could barely compare it to now. I felt like shit, my body while feeling like I had guzzled a gallon of adrenal fluid, was about as responsive as a cadaver. I could still move though, the suit was online after all, I just had to think."
"Thinking and doing use to be a two step process, I had just learned when you put it into a one step process, a shit ton of confusion. Thankfully I had thought of how this would be a disorienting experience to the subjects who would be using these, the park that I had set up for us would be useful. Damn, I have to remember that I'm one of them now, or more precisely that I'm the first one now."
Sigh, "This audio log was recorded on the last day of my procedure, the pain I have been through was well worth becoming a genius in this endeavor. Doctor Felix Argus Cainum, signing off."
