"Well, look on the bright side: they don't totally hate you. I mean, they see that you are trying to show them that you didn't mean to mind control them and destroy half of the school." Said Twilight.
"That may be true, but it sure doesn't feel like that..." Trailed off Sunset Shimmer as she rubbed her shoulder.
"Also rebuilding the school didn't take as long as you thought it would have, right?"
"I guess. By the way, how's your research going Twi?"
"Well, since you bring it up, I actually found something quite puzzling with the portal."
"What did you exactly find?" Asked Sunset.
"Why don't I show you."
Twilight showed Sunset out to the portal and noticed that it was glowing and gave off a powerful, but mysterious vibe. Sunset put her hand near it and it zapped her hand.
"Ouch! Twi, why does it zap you when you touch it?" Asked Sunset as she rubbed her hand.
"I really don't know. I'm still working on how and why it does that. All I know is that the energy is not coming from Equestria, or anywhere else. It seems to be at its strongest when it's midday. It is most puzzling; especially when I closed the portal...Maybe someone is trying to get through, and I've tried to open it, but my equipment is not strong enough...." Pondered Twilight.
"Well, what if we used the crown?" Suggested Sunset.
"Why would we use the crown that nearly destroyed half the school and turned you into a demon?" Said Twilight.
"We can use the crown because it has tremendous amounts of power, and you said that your equipment couldn't open up the portal."
"So...?"
"So the crown is the answer!" Said Sunset.
"But that doesn't mean we can just steal the Element of Magic Crown!!" Exclaimed Twilight.
"Do you want to see what's on the other side of this portal or not?" Said Sunset. She had a good point: Twilight did want to see what was on the other side, and it was for science!
Twilight thought for a moment, and tapped her foot. She finally came to a decision.
"Alright we can use the crown, but only this once." Said Twilight, already regretting the decision.
"Yes! Thank you Twilight. I'll get the crown right away. I won't disappoint you!" Said Sunset as she was jumping up and down.
"Ok, and once you get the crown meet me at the portal tomorrow; midday." Instructed Twilight.
"Ok, got it" Responded Sunset.

Early next day, Sunset rushed to the portal and met with Twilight. Twilight was setting up something that looked like a gun. It was big, and had a jar-type container at the end of it.
"Twi, what is that huge gun you got there?" Asked Sunset.
"This, my dear Sunset is an energy cannon. This will harness the crown's energy and shoot it at the portal, which should, hopefully, open it up. If this doesn't do it, I don't know what will." Said Twilight.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's do it!' Said Sunset excitedly. She could hardly wait and wanted to use it right away.
"Ok, but first put on these goggles and give me the crown"
"K, here ya go Twi."
Twilight put on her goggles and placed the crown in the jar-type container. She turned a knob to full power, and pressed the big red button. As it warmed up and started to hum, Twilight stepped back, and then Sunset stepped back. In that moment, energy surrounded the crown, and was then transferred to the pipe attached to the cannon's barrel. Then the energy cannon shot a loud and powerful blast that sent Twilight, Sunset, and Twilight's equipment flying.
When Twilight and Sunset got up, they looked around: they saw Twilight's machinery destroyed.
"Well, there goes my expensive equipment." Said Twilight sadly.
"That. Was. AWESOME!!" Shouted Sunset.
"Come on Twi, let's see what happened to the portal"
Sunset and Twilight cautiously walked over to the portal: it had some sort of wormhole surrounding it, and had electricity all around it. It gave off a powerful yet mysterious vibe. Peeking with curiosity, Sunset put her hand in the portal, and then was sucked into the portal! She upon instinct grabbed Twilight's arm and dragged her in too; the portal then closed behind them.

"Ugh, what happened? Where am I?" Asked Sunset, dazed.
"I don't know, but we are not in Canterlot High anymore." Said Twilight, also dazed.
They got up, and looked around them. It was sunny, and seemed to be at a beach. Then they notice some sort of beach house that was in poor shape. Twilight went up to the porch and knocked on the door. No one answered and started to walk away when they heard a scream and something crash; almost like glass.
"Hold on a minute! I'll be out in just a sec!" Shouted a voice that came from inside the house.
Then they heard someone run to the door, and heard a bang, an ouch, and then the mysterious voice said a name that sounded unfamiliar to both Sunset and Twilight. The door opened.
"Uhh...."Said Twilight.
"Oh, hello! You must be new trainers that are looking for me!" Said the mysterious man.
The man that was talking to them wore a long white lab coat, sun glasses, a hat, shorts, sports shoes.....and no shirt. He seemed to be a bit beaten up; as if he had just gotten into a fight. He smiled and looked at Sunset and Twilight.
"Um, sure, we're the new trainers! Sorry we didn't bring any gym clothes to training." Said Sunset.
The mysterious man laughed and slapped his knee.
"Haha you're a funny one, cousin!" Chuckled the man.
"Yeah, she sure is a funny one." Said Twilight as she laughed to just go along with it.
"Please, come on in! Sorry for the mess, me and Rockruff were testing out his new moves. Anyways, you guys want some Malasada's?" Asked the man.
"Um, no thank you...."
"Professor Kukui's the name." Said Professor Kukui, smiling.
"Professor Kukui, right." Said Twilight.
They both looked around the house: it was neatly organized despite the sounds they heard outside, and had a cool aquarium inside too. Then a strange animal came up to them. It looked like a stuffed bear, but walked and talked!
"Um, Professor Kukui, i-i-is that a walking stuffed bear?!?" Asked the startled Twilight.
"It's ok cousin. that's a Pokémon: Stufful." Said Kukui.
"What's a Pokémon?" Asked Sunset.
"What's a Stufful?" Asked Twilight.
"You never heard of a Pokémon?" Asked Kukui, he sounded shocked.
"Um, not really, but it looks cute." Said Sunset.
"Well, Pokémon are creatures that live side-by-side with humans. You can battle with them, they can help you with everyday stuff, and are key to any trainer's journey." Explained Kukui.
"Wow, sounds cool!" Exclaimed Twilight.
"Yeah, that's the spirit, cousin!" Said the excited Professor Kukui.
"Well, now that we are acquainted, how 'bout I get your names?"
"I'm Twilight Sparkle."
"I'm Sunset Shimmer"
"Ah, wonderful names. You two ladies remind me of the two legendary Pokémon within our region." Said Prof. Kukui as he was giving Rockruff and Stufful Pokémon food.
"Legendary Pokémon?" Asked Twilight.
"Yeah, you know: special, and mythical Pokémon that protect the Pokémon Regions." Explained Prof. Kukui.
"Well, how many regions are there?" Asked Sunset curiously.
"It all starts with Kanto, then Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and our region: Alola. Each region has there own legendary Pokémon, and they are very powerful; in addition to being very shy around humans."
"Now, why did our names remind you of the legendary Pokémon in this region?" Asked Sunset.
"It's because our region revolves around the Sun and Moon. The Alola Region and its people praise them for they are both essential for everyday life. Those two legendary Pokémon are called Solgaleo and Lunala. Since your name is 'Twilight', it reminded me of the Moon, and 'Sunset' is pretty self-explanatory." Said Prof. Kukui.
"Wow, it kind of reminds me of Celestia and Luna's relationship..." Whispered Sunset.
"Anyways, what should we do since we are the new trainers?" Asked Twilight.
"Well, I figured I could give you your starter Pokémon." Said Prof. Kukui happily.
"Our what?" Said the confused Sunset.
"Starter Pokémon; ya know, the Pokémon that will help you on your journey of course."
"Oh yes, those starter Pokémon." Twilight had no idea what any of this meant.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get our "starter" Pokémon then!" Said Sunset.
"Ok, then follow me to Iki Town!"

As they were walking to Iki Town, they noticed a that the island was beautiful; it had lush trees, palm trees matter of fact, gorgeous flora, and strange creatures (these of course we know as Pokémon). When they got to Route 1, they saw a moving truck outside a house.
"Hey Professor, who just moved in?" Asked Twilight.
"Oh, that's just a new family that moved here all the way from Kanto; he is also a new trainer that is going to get a starter Pokémon too. Since we're over here, let's greet him." Said Prof. Kukui as he motioned his hand towards the houses. Twilight and Sunset followed.
When they got to the houses, it was a lot bigger than from looking it from a distance. They all looked the same too: blue paint, black roof, a wooden door in front, and a front and back porch. These were like vacation houses!
Prof. Kukui went up to the front and rang the doorbell. They heard shuffling, a meow, and then someone running to the door. A young woman answered the door.
"Ah, nice to see you and Sun made it safely. Alola!" Said Prof. Kukui, waving his hands in an odd greeting fashion; must be some sort of custom here in Alola.
"Well, Sun was so excited that he was just itching to get on the plane! Back in Kanto, he liked the area, but the Pokémon School was too much for him. That's why we moved to Alola. So far he loves Melemele Island. This was the right island to live on." Said the woman.
"Well, now that you two are settled in, I'd like you to meet two new trainers of mine: This is Twilight, and this is Sunset."
The woman looked at both of them, and smiled.
"It's very nice to meet you two young ladies, my name is Diane."
"it is very nice to meet you Diane." Said Twilight and Sunset as they curtsied.
"Now now girls. No need to bow before me, I'm just a simple mom. How about I bring Sun down here so he can meet you all." Said Diane as she started to go upstairs.
A few moments later, Diane came down with Sun, who looked very young; almost Twilight and Sunset's age. Sun wore a blue and black baseball hat, a blue and whit striped t-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes. He was very matching and quite stylish if I do say so myself.
"Hiya! The name's Sun. I heard you two were also new trainers on this island. It's very nice to meet you." Said Sun cheerfully.
"Hi Sun, my name is Twilight Sparkle."
"And my name is Sunset Shimmer."
"Alright! I can tell we are gonna have sooo much fun together! You guys ready to get our very first Pokémon? Cause I know I am!" Exclaimed Sun.
The girls nodded.
"Ok Sun, just follow me and the girls to Iki Town and that's where you'll get your first Pokémon." Said Prof. Kukui.
"Sounds good. Let me just get my bag, and I'll be down in a sec."

As the young soon-to-be trainers walked to Iki Town, Sun and the girls introduced themselves further.
"So, I hear you came from Kanto. You must be homesick." Said Twilight.
"Na, not really. I was getting tired of Kanto, so when I heard that Alola had a house for sale, I just knew that I had to move here." Said Sun.
"Well, where do you guys come from?"
"Uh..."
"We're from....Kalos! Yeah, that's where we are from!" Lied Sunset.
"Oh sweet! I'm surprised you guys are adjusting to the beach life so quickly; especially with Kalos mainly being a city region. You guys like this kind of climate?"
"Yeah, it's nice. Get's us away from the night life."
Professor Kukui interrupted them: "Here we are cousins! Iki Town!
Iki Town was a small and cozy little town, and had a huge platform in the middle of it. When then walked over to it, they saw a man talking to some people. For some reason, he gave off a powerful presence.
"Ah! Professor Kukui, nice to see you again!" Bellowed the man.
"It's nice to see you too, Hala!"
"Who are these young folks?" Asked Hala.
"These are Pokémon trainers, and soon-to-be Trial Goers. They are here to get their starter Pokémon."
"Haha! Some more trainers for ya, eh Kukui?" Chuckled Hala.
"Yep, you got that right. Cousins, this here is my good friend and Melemele Island's Kahuna: Hala!" Exclaimed Prof. Kukui.
"Yeah, that's me alright! Nice to meet you cousins!"
"It is very nice to meet you Hala." All three trainer said and bowed.
"No no no. If you want to greet someone in Alola correctly this is how you do it." Hala waved both of his hands in a swaying motion, and said: "Alola!"
"Oh, I see now!" Said Sun.
"Now, it's time to choose your first partner in Alola!" Said Prof. Kukui.
"Alright! Here we go! I'll let you guys choose first." Said Sun kindly.
"Ok, but first, let me tell you a little about these fine Pokémon you see before you." Said Prof. Kukui.
"First is Litten; the cat Pokémon. She is a natural fire type, and can create a mean fireball! Next is Rowlet; the grass-flying owl Pokémon. He is one sneaky little thing. You better be careful, or else he might steal your food! Last but not least, is Popplio: the water seal Pokémon. Popplio sure is a swift swimmer if you ask me!"
"Wow! They all sound like cool partners!" Said Sun, jumping up and down.
"So, which is going to be cousins?" Asked Prof. Kukui.
"I think I'll choose..." Said Twilight.
