Savior of the Future! A Light Emerges from the Darkness!
Darkness.
All that surrounded Trunks was pitch, black, darkness. He was familiar with the situation. Many threats arose in his world, and he always was there to help stop them with his friends from the past.
But now he was all alone. No time machine, no Mai or Bulma. Just himself, a sword, book, and a small scroll. The saiyan's snapped his eyes open as he got up from his lying position and onto his feet.
The scene around him was nothing new to him, but the normal person would be devastated at what he or she would be seeing. Gritty dark clouds covered the sky, blocking out any light that the sun could provide, but perhaps it wasn't required or wanted. Littering the plains and dirt mounds were the dead corpses of ponies and changelings.
The structures that were once houses were now nothing more than small debris and rock. Trunks was familiar with death, but still seeing the bodies made him wipe a few tears off of his face.
He then turned his head to see three young fillies being threatened by a small hoard of changelings armed with spears. The Saiyan wasn't about to let innocent youth be slaughtered by evil.
Trunks moved at speeds faster than the eye could see and phased back into reality, kicking one of the guards in the face with his Burning Strike. He then unsheathed his sword before pointing it towards the remaining changeling guards.
"I'll give you five seconds to back off before my blade slashes right through your bodies." Trunks threatened.
The guards went silent for a few seconds before laughing. "Right! How are you gonna hurt us, you hairless ape-" The guard was cut short as Trunks launched forward and struck with the hilt of his sword. It struck right against his chest, with the impact killing him instantly. Before the others could react, the Saiyan turned and slashed towards the three remaining guards, launching a disk of yellow ki from his blade. It instantly cut through them, leaving the split remains of the changelings.
With the fight finished in seconds, Trunks tossed his sword up in the air, causing to twirl a few times before landing perfectly back into its sheath.
"Are you three alright?" Trunks asked the three fillies in a caring tone.
They whispered to themselves for a moment, but eventually the white unicorn trotted forward. "We're fine. But who are you?"
"My name is Trunks Briefs, a Saiyan warrior from planet Earth."
"Trunks Briefs?! You were named after clothes?" the orange pegasus filly laughed.
The yellow earth pony quickly whacked her friend on the back of her head. "Knock it off!" She then turned back to Trunks. "Sorry 'bout her. I'm Apple Bloom, and these are my friends, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo, and together, we are..."
"THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS!!!" the fillies screamed into his ear, causing the Saiyan to stumble backwards. He then started laughing with them.
"It's nice to find some high spirited children once and a while." the Saiyan laughed. Something then clicked inside his head. "Wait a minute, what are you three doing out here in a war zone?"
"We were trying to gather supplies for the others." Apple Bloom replied.
"Wow, they must have a lot of trust in you three to do that." Trunks said.
"Actually, we decided to sneak out. They're probably worried sick about us! Oh, this was a really dumb idea!" Sweetie Belle was at the verge of breaking into tears.
Before she could Trunks patted her on the head. "Don't worry. I used to venture off on my own when I was younger. Trust me, I've had my fair share of scoldings, but don't worry. they're just looking out for you." His voice was reassuring enough to calm the young filly.
"Thank you... I needed that." Sweetie Belle wiped the tears off of her face and immediately perked up.
"Come on! We'll bring you back to our secret base and get you settled." Scootaloo exclaimed.
"Before he could reply, the fillies grabbed him by the arm and pulled him along with them. Watching from above, a lone changeling managed to escape the fight.
What an interesting development. My queen will be quite disappointed with this news."
The desolate town that was once Ponyville was now crumbled ruins and dark and gritty skies. They passed through it on the way back to the base the CMC were taking Trunks to. It reminded the Saiyan of his him when the Androids were still a threat to mankind. It made him think about someone very close to him, his mentor and best friend, Gohan. But there was too much going on and opening up old wounds would be the worst thing he could do right now.
They were now deep within the heart of the Everfree Forest. The CMC pushed away a large bush, revealing a surprisingly large village, with ponies going about their business. As they entered the village, ponies stared intently at the Saiyan with curious eyes.
"Girls!" The Mane 6 approached the girls and Trunks.
"Get away from that thing!" Rainbow Dash demanded, pulling the girls away from Trunks.
"You better have a very decent good explanation for bringing this horrid creature here!" Rarity added, all the while a crowd surrounded them, pointing spears at Trunks.
"Alright changeling, ditch the disguise, coward!" Rainbow Dash demanded.
"What's a-" the Saiyan was interrupted by a sea-green unicorn named Lyra.
"Oh, come on, guys! He has hands, which are practically the coolest thing ever! The changelings are to dumb to know what hands are. I mean look at these! They're amazing!"
"Yeah!" Apple Bloom added. "He's not a changeling! He took five of them out in a matter of seconds!" The other two CMC backed the earth pony up.
'Well... at least they're going to defend me...' He was about to take flight and get as far away as possible, but a voice called out, halting his movement.
"Stop!" They turned around to a hut was the village's witch doctor and only zebra, Zecora. She leaped down from the roof and landed right next to Trunks. "If he's a changeling, we'll soon see, though I believe he is not what he appears to be. Beneath this salve, no changeling hides, for it reveals the truth inside." The zebra held out a sample of magic salve, and tried to put it on his exposed hand, but it vanished into thin air upon contact.
The ponies surrounding Trunks slowly backed away. The magical salve had never done this before. When changelings were touched by the substance, their disguise would drop instantly.
"The meaning is far different, I see. For it seems you are a mystery that surpasses even me." Zecora rhymed.
"Is he changeling?" one of the ponies asked. Zecora shook her head and was about to speak up before Twilight stepped forward.
"Everypony, this creature is one that I have summoned from a far off land to aid in our fight. He is a warrior of pure heart who values life and has the power to tip the scale in our favor." the alicorn then turned to meet Trunks in the eyes. "My apologies for our rude behavior, I am Princess Twilight Sparkle, and you are currently within the hidden village of Everfree. We are forced to question ponies to see if they are really who they sayy they are. Changelings have the unique ability to take on the form of anypony they want."
"It's not a problem, really, I made the same mistake not too long ago." The Saiyan thought back to when he had accidentally attacked Goku in the past. By now, everpony was unsure of what to say, but Twilight stepped up once again.
"We will take him to the hut for further information. The verdict of whether he is on the side of good or not will be determined. Trunks was now accompanied by the Mane 6 and Zecora into the hut.
Trunks took a seat on a couch as the ponies and zebra sat down around a table next to the couch.
"Listen bub, you better start talking!" Rainbow Dash flew straight up in the Saiyan's face before being pulled away by Applejack.
"Look, it's time you know who I am and where I come from," Trunks pulled out a red book that read "The Legend of Dragon Ball"
"The history of this great battle... was narrated as legend."
The book opened up and instead of words, there was a moving picture, almost like a portable movie.
"The ambitions of the Emperor of the Universe, Frieza, were ruined by the warriors of Earth. In the book, the white alien known as Frieza flew down to meet the four warriors of Earth, Piccolo, Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta. "These warriors who had enraged Frieza, had faced the unimaginable ability of power and pain that possessed it."
Frieza then transformed, growing larger and changed his body shape. He then proceeded to attack Piccolo and the others. Not after long, Frieza had transformed into his final form.
At the same time, a man in an orange gi with palm tree hair burst out of the ceiling of a spaceship.
"The only hope was a man named Son Goku." Goku went toe to toe with Frieza and eventually launched the Spirit Bomb, supposedly killing the evil emperor. The girls were now completely baffled by the events unfolding. It made them wonder how good they had it compared to what these brave warriors were facing.
"However, even the most powerful Spirit Bomb was not enough to defeat Frieza."
The mighty alien then shot a Death Beam through Piccolo's body, making him collapse. He then raised Krillin into the air before causing him to explode, killing him instantly.
Goku's eyes shrunk as the sky darkened with clouds.
"How dare you! I will... make you... suffer!" Goku shouted. His hair then turned a bright golden and his eyes were now a bright cyan. Goku had transformed into a Super Saiyan. "Face my rage, Frieza!" The girls watched as the Super Saiyan forcefully beat up Frieza in an effort to avenge his fallen friend.
"After several events, This duel to the death... was at the verge of conclusion."
Freiza then accidentally cut himself in half with his own Death Slicers, causing the girls to wince in pain for him.
"Fortunately for Frieza, Goku gave him some of his Ki, and save his life, but nevertheless..." The emperor shot one finally blast at Goku, with full intent of taking him down with him, but failed and was engulfed by the saiyan's energy blast. Trunks then closed the book before continuing.
"Some time later, Frieza tried to revive himself and transformed into a cyborg... But a young man who traveled in time dug his grave permanently. Yes, that man was me." he then went on about his battle with the androids, but left out the part about Cell due to him dying. It would only cause more pain for them. He then finished with his fight with Zamasu.
By now, the girls had heard enough and had made up their minds.
Fluttershy was in tears while the other were shocked to hear such a sad story.
Zecora stood up from her seats and muttered one sentence."You are indeed friendly, Sir Trunks, you shall sleep with us in one of the open bunks."
