The train had finally came to a stop. The mouse, poked its head a bit out of its hiding place so not to reveal its self. It had been hiding in the crack in the wall, using the hole for shelter so nopony could see it even though there were only one pony and a dragon on the train. But it was only instinct, the mouse had panicked as the train had started to move. The mouse had sneaked onto one of the train carts and overstayed it's welcome while it scavenged for food. Winter was here and it had been a brutal one. There was barely any food this winter and had killed most of its friends of either starvation or the cruel coldness of winter.
This thought made a tear roll down the mouse's little cheek.
The mouse shook its head to get rid of the thought and focus on its main objective.
Its stomach rumbled and look down to see its own ribs then looked ahead to continue the search for food. There was little crumbs of food all over the floor, mostly under the seats. It was a paradise for a small mouse, it looked left then right to see if anypony was around.
Luckily there was no pony in the train cart except for one pony and a dragon. Both were asleep. The pony looked exhausted and depressed, unlike the dragon that slept sweetly and soundly.
The pony had wings and a horn?
It didn't know that ponies could have both of those.
But it had a lavender coat with a dark purple mane and tail with two pink stripes down the middle. Her mane and tail were very messy like if the pony hadn't taken care of it for days. She had a yellow scarf with a red stripe overlapping the white strip. Next to the purple pony was a little, purple, dragon with green lumps that started at the top if its head to near the end of its tail.
They both look familiar.
The mouse couldn't recall where its seen them before but it couldn't quite place them. But the mouse just brushed it off and began to stuff the crumbs into its mouth. The crumbs were a little stale but that didn't really matter. It was starving so, food was food. The mouse ate a few crumbs before hearing the warning of the train's departure.
The mouse's ears perked up, then began to stuff a few more crumbs in its mouth and ran as fast as is could for the exit door. The doors of the train cart began to close slowly, the mouse just barely missed it as the door slammed, head first, at full speed into the door and flew back a bit, landing flat on its stomach, the crumbs that it had stuffed in its mouth flying out onto the floor. The mouse opened its eyes, only to be greeted by a blurry vision. The mouse's head was throbbing but ignored the pain, it shook off its blurry vision and looked up at the train cart door. It was closed and the train began to move.
The mouse's eyes shot wide open and started to panic as the train started to slowly move a bit faster.
The mouse looked around then ran under the seats to look for anything it could hide in. Then it saw the crack in the wall just a little ways ahead and jumped into the cracked wall. The mouse turned around so that it was facing the outside of the crack. Its heart was beating hard and fast like a drum. It had decided to stay in the wall till that train came to its destination.
The mouse had fallen asleep during the long trip to who knows where. The train horn scared the mouse awake. The mouse got up and decided to look around to see where ever this giant, box of metal or whatever it was made of, had taken it. Once again, the mouse looked left and right then walked forward a bit so the back half of its body was still in the wall.
The mouse walked cautiously out from the wall and under the seat, to check if those two were still on the train. Both were still on the train but still asleep. The trains door slowly began to open. The mouse perked it's ears up.
This was perfect, it can make an escape.
The mouse began to run towards the sliding door as they slowly opened. As the mouse came to a sudden halt in front of the exit, a sudden chill went down its spine, making it stop in its tracks as its eye widen. The mouse's little body began to shake violently, its heart began to beat out of its chest as if its heart was going to explode. Freedom was right in front of it, but the large sense of dread that washed over in a mere second and its own instinct kept it from going any further.
The mouse examined the outside. There was no living thing in sight and the outside was silent. The mouse could feel the coldness of the winter night against its fur. Not a hoot from an owl or the chirping of crickets was audible.
There was only a wooden platform with a purple building atop of it with a blue door with a brown wooden frame on the left of the building. The mouse couldn't see the sky but it could tell the moon was out because of the light of the moon illuminating the wooden platform and leaving the darkness in along the building that was covered by the roof.
The mouse started to back away but stopped when it saw movement in the shadow of the building. It couldn't see it clearly at first, but as the mouse looked closer it could see an outline of a pony. The outline looked shriveled, small and appeared to be crawled up into a ball. The figure was lean up against the wall of the small building close to the blue door.
In a split second, the figured opened its eyes. Only its pupils were visible the whites of the eyes were black.
The figure began to get up stumbling as it tried to regain footing,
but.....the pony was growing......
......no......
.....not a pony.....
.....something else......
As it got on its hooves one by one, the mouse noticed that each of the....things legs were thin with pointy tips like a spider. The spider-like creature was final at crouch position, but now it was huge. The creatures legs were so long that the tips somewhat peeked out into the moonlight. The creature snapped its head towards the open train cart.
The mouse wanted to run away as fast as its little feet can take it, but its tiny body wouldn't listen.
The monstrosity began to come closer, revealing its face to the moonlight. The monster's face.....was horrific. It didn't have any ears or a coat all the thing had was skin as if somepony shaved it off. The color skin was unnatural, the color was a sickly, pale grayish color. The mouth was like an endless melting stream leaving a variety size holes where its mouth was.
Suddenly the creature made a loud gurgled screech.
This was enough for the mouse to get its body to run. In its panic, the mouse sprinted down the aisle of seats and jumped into the saddle bag that sat next to the baby dragon and pony.
