The Wolf's Tale

Those were the first moments of my new life when I entered this world. It was not something I like to remember. I still had the scars to do that for me. At first I thought my life was over as soon as it started. I thought it would end instantly like that. I was wrong. I was saved by who is now one of my closest friends. She helped me when I was close to certain death. I owe her my life as a friend. She was my first friend in this crazy world.

I woke to a bright light blinding my vision. I instantly closed my eyes, trying to keep the light away. The light was so bright that my eyes still hurt even them being closed. I had to readjust in order for the pain to go away. I slowly opened my eyes and was assaulted by the light. I fought the pain and soon the brightness toned down a bit to where I could tolerate it. I tried to move but was assaulted with pain all over my body. I looked down and saw my body was covered in bandages. I don't remember healing myself. I looked around my surroundings and found myself in what seemed like a living room. It seem like a small cottage with window on my left and a small chair on my right. There was a small painting on the wall of butterfly's. I looked down and saw I was laying on a couch. As I examined the room a bit better, I heard footsteps coming from a door on the other end of the living room.

When the door opened, I was surprised to see an actual person. She was small with a petite frame and yellow fur with pink hair that covered half her face. I could tell she was surprised as well to see me awake. We just stared at each other, not one of us daring to speak. I decided to be the one to break the ice and say something: "Um... Hello?" I said with a bit of nervousness. She squeaked and hid behind her hair even more. I frowned, I didn't think I was that scary. I tried to talk to her some more. "It's okay. I am not going to hurt you" I said with a smile. She seemed to be happy with that since she revealed her face a bit more. I could make out more of her features. I can say she was pretty cute. She had a small muzzle with pretty blue eyes that had a kind feeling behind them.

" Um..Hi" she whispered. I could barely hear her. I think my ears made it a bit more clear. I decided to keep being slow and friendly so I don't frighten her.

"Hi. Thank you for taking care of me... ?" I motioned with my hand that I didn't know her name. She got the message quickly and quietly replied.

" Flu-fluttershy.My na-name is Fluttershy." She spoke up a bit louder. She was getting more comfortable, good.

"Well, Fluttershy, thank you for saving me from my little problem." I chuckled while motioning towards my bandages. She gasped.

"Little problem?! You would have died if I haven't found you outside my cottage!" she said worriedly. I laughed.

"Yeah. I guess I would have." I frowned. I could have died. I cleared those thoughts from my brain and smiled at her. "Well I am internally grateful." I slipped off the couch and tried to stand. I was met with a burning pain in my leg. I cried out in pain and fell over. Fluttershy was at my side in a second.

"Take it easy! You are still injured. I patched the wounds up but they are still healing" she warned me while trying to get me to stand. I groaned as she helped me back up on the couch. I lied back on the couch and sighed.

"Thanks. I guess I should have known that huh?" I joked. She smile and giggled.

"Wait here. I will get us some food and we can talk some more." she said while exiting the room. I lay there thinking on how I am going to explain my situation to her.

We both sat down eating some salad and fruit. She didn't want to move me so she set up a table next to the couch so we could talk. I sat there eating quickly since I wasn't sure how long I have not eaten. As far as I know, that was forever. I heard her cough and looked up at her with salad and other vegetables sticking out of my mouth from trying to stuff it in. She giggled at my face and tried to start a conversation.

"So what were you doing out in the Everfree Forest?" she asked kindly. I didn't know how to answer. I guess to just tell her the truth.

"I honestly don't know. I woke up in the middle of the night almost naked and I had no idea where to go. I just chose a random direction and walked. I kept walking until I came across a river. When I got to the river I found a pack of wolves and they chased me for long time. After a while I finally lost them I came into contact with this big lion beast and was chased by it. It chased me all the way out of the forest. I got all the cuts from them trying to kill me." I explained to her. The whole time she listened she had a worried expression on her face. I did not want to tell her that I killed a wolf since I was afraid it would scare her.

"How did you manage to escape?! You should have died." she asked. I just shrugged.

"I guess It was the will to live that drove me. I also think that being a dog helped with getting away from them." he simply replied. She raised a brow.

"Um...your not a dog." she replied. I looked up at her questionably.

"What!?" I cried out. She nodded.

"Your fur is more shaggy than a dog. Also your muzzle is a bit pointier and your fangs are poking out like a wolfs." she said matter of fact. My teeth did seem a bit sharp and my fur did feel a bit ruff, but still pretty soft and warm.

"I thought I was a dog." I really did think I was a dog. A wolf and dog did share similar traits. "To be honest, I don't know much of myself. I don't know who I am or even my name." I sulked. I looked up and saw her trying to hold back tears. This made my gut tighten up. I didn't want her to cry over me.

"You poor thing. Not knowing where you came from or who you are." she cried. I just sat there thinking on what I could've been. All of a sudden Fluttershy gasped. "What if we made you a new name?!" she said excitedly. I thought on this. Why not. We don't have one at the moment. Why not make a new one. I looked up at her and smiled while nodding my approval. She clapped her hands in excitement.

"Any ideas on what to call me?" I asked. She looked down in thought. I also looked somewhere else in thought. It had to resemble me in a way. It had to show off what I was and be easy to remember. I thought of everything I knew of myself. I woke up in a forest. I killed a wolf. I am a wolf. I woke up in the night. I was chased by a beast and gained many injuries. I suddenly realized that all I knew of myself were things of pain and confusion. I groaned. Suddenly it hit me. I am a wolf.. and I woke up in the night. That is it.

"Night Wolf" I said aloud. Fluttershy looked up at me in surprise. I smiled at her. "That will be my new name,  Night Wolf." She smiled back at me and nodded. She suddenly let out and long yawn and covered her mouth. I looked outside the window. It was already getting dark.

"I am glad we thought up of a name for you, but it is getting late." She stood up and grabbed our plates. She walked off into the kitchen and placed the dishes in the sink. She went inside a closet and pulled out a blanket. She walked back into the living room and saw me getting comfortable on the couch. She smiled. "Would you like to sleep on a bed?" she asked while unfolding the blanket. I smiled but shook my head.

"No, this is fine thank you." She nodded and placed the blanket over my body. I just realized that I was naked this whole time. All I had were some tight sweatpants. I saw her walk to a stair case in the far end of the room. While she did she also turned off the lights. She turned around and looked at me.

"Alright then, Goodnight. Get some rest." she said while walking up the stairs. I smiled and waved back at her. I rolled around in my blanket, trying to get comfortable. I sighed as I felt sleep start to consume me. I closed my eyes, Knowing that today I made a new friend.
