The Mind of Madness
The Mind of Madness
Load Full StoryHe arrived at midday.
Princess Celestia had, as she does each year, arrived at 5:00A.M. in order to raise the sun for the Summer Sun Celebration. Everypony was bleary eyed, tired, but cheerful all the while as the Sun Goddess made her horn glow with a warm orange glow. Behind her, the sun rose from the horizon and encouraged 'oooh's and 'aaah's from the gathered crowd.
Nopony could have expected what was to occur for one split second during the event.
For an instant, a dark, black tear opened, a loud roar following after. The ground shuddered and jolted as the whole building rocked on it's foundations. A couple of screams appeared through the 5 second event, then turned to laughter as the hall began to cheer, thinking that Princess Celestia was responsible. She raised a brow, shrugged, and waved to everypony before taking off.
However, no-one saw the tiny black object tumble from the gap amidst the confusion. It shot past the mountain where the Mane 6 defeated the dragon, tore through the Everfree Forest, and finally reached its outrageously explosive crash-crescendo as it bounced into the castle that originally held the Elements of Harmony. Pieces of ancient stone were blasted into windows as the castle walls were breached. They may have prepared for an army, but had they been prepared for a 200-mile-an-hour falling pony? They clearly hadn't as he obliterated the column that used to carry the stones that once were the Elements. The smoke from the impact filled the room like a jug of water, as dust embraced every available surface. When it finally cleared, the floor tiles were imbedded in the roof, and the was a black pony in the center of the room, lying in a crater. A solid material protruded from his torso, neck, legs and flanks, while his head was covered in a form of blood red tatoo. To be honest, if you were to look hard enough, you would barely be able to see his face. He had two horns, curled to the back of his head. Next to him, there lay a stick of silver with screaming faces at the tip.
His eyes snapped open. Instead of the regular white with a pupil, he had a terrifying black centered around a red dot. He scraped his hoof along the ground, digging a small hole. Eventually, he regained his senses and staggered back up, creating minor sparks as his boots scratched concrete slabs. He inhaled, smoke filling his lungs. He was used to it, his home was almost always on fire, so he grew up with the smell of smoke. He was going to be around for far longer than 60 seconds, what was the rush? He steadied himslf, before slowly shuffling around the room to gather his things. He swept the room, ensuring that he had everything before grunting and setting off. He was sure he'd seen a town or somethingcon his...abrupt landing, so he should try there, perhaps? After all, master wouldn't miss him. There were thousands more just like him who would miss that one hapless minion with a short attention span and a taste for manipulation?
Twilight was even more worried than normal. A massive earthquake during a festival? What ws Prince Techtoni thinking? The thought plagued her as she trotted home. Where would he start the quake? There are no seismic plates near Ponyville, so maybe somepony else has an idea? Thinking of which, where is everypony? She scanned around for anypony. Nobody was near, even the shops were deserted. This means one thing: There's a new pony in town. She decided the most she could do was wait for Pinkie's party invitation and go home. She sighed, her eyelids lazily fluttering over her eyes. She might as well go to sleep whilst she waited for the invite, as she did just wake up at roughly 4:00 in the morning. Soon, after a ten-minute walk around Ponyville whilst trying not to pass out and fall asleep in the middle of the street, she found her way back to the library. She slowly pushed open the door and walked into the house.
'Ahhhh...' she sighed, finally feeling the warmth of her comfortable bed and her fireplace. Her brain was normally used to staying up into the early hours studying endless books, but today she was really sleepy, at around 12:00. She tucked under the duvet, flicked her light off, and she went into a deep, dreamless sleep.
Then came a voice.
Just as soon as he had been able to see the village square, ponies gathered to greet him. A lot of couples, he noted. However, none of them tried to speak with him, likely put off by his terrifying appearance. As with all towns and cities he'd visited due to a summoning, there was always one who tried making friends. This one was no different, with a cheerful mare bouncing up to him with a beaming smile plastered all over her pink face.
"HI!" She giggled. "I'm Pinkie Pie! Do you like parties? I do! I'm the best party planner in Ponyville!"
Ponyville. Ha, what a ridiculous name. Well, better than Oblivion, that's for certain.
"Pinkie!" Somepony shouted, pushing to the front of the crowd. The voice had an american twang to it, so he guessed it was a farm-mare. He looked at her. She had an orange coat
