The mane 6 sit in a circle by the large, castle table, a game of One Night Ultimate Werewolf set up in front of them. Only one of them has played this game before, Rainbow dash especially was confused.
"What are we doing again?" This was about the tenth question our Alicorn's gotten from the Pegasus, and they haven't even played a single game yet. "How about we just start. I'll explain it as we go." Her horn flashes and a record player appeared on the ground in front of them. "I've dealt out everyone's cards, and there are 3 not in play. Look at them and then close your eyes." She quickly shuts her eyes and waits. "Darling, what does shutting your eyes have to do with a card game?" Twilight would've rolled her eyes had she not had them closed. "Just trust me." Rarity, along with the others, closed their eyes uneasily.
Twilight: Robber
Rarity: Minion
Rainbow dash: Mason
Fluttershy: Werewolf
Applejack: Seer
Pinkie pie: Werewolf
"Werewolves, open your eyes."
Fluttershy slowly opens her eyes and looks around. Pinkie pie does the same, a lot more energetically. They lock eyes and Pinkie pie suppresses a giggle. Fluttershy smiles.
"Werewolves, close your eyes."
They do so.
"Minion, open your eyes."
Rarity opens her eyes and audibly scoffs. "Minion!?" Twilight giggles at the mistake on Rarity's part. I should've expected this from her. I guess it doesn't matter now.
"Werewolves, stick out your hooves."
Pinkiepie throws her hook out so fast she shakes the table. Fluttershy does so much more slowly.
"Werewolves, put away your hooves."
They do so.
"Minion, close your eyes."
Rarity rolls her eyes before closing them.
"Masons, open your eyes."
Rainbow dash opens her eyes, crossing her arms. "Oh come on! How is that fair!?" Twilight bangs her head on the table. 2 out of 6...
"Masons, close your eyes."
"Seer, open your eyes. You may look at one players card or 2 cards from the middle."
Applejack 'wakes up' and shrugs. Alright I guess... She lifts up the two side cards from the middle revealing a mason and a troublemaker.
"Seer, close your eyes."
"Robber, open your eyes."
Twilight does so. Let's think about this... Rainbow dash is obviously a mason, and Rarity is obviously a minion. If I take her role nobody will trust her even though she's on their team... I'll win with the werewolves! She swaps her card with Rarity and closes her eyes.
"Robber, close your eyes."
(Due to the other roles being in the middle, let's skip to the day phase)
"Everyone, wake up!"
Everypony opens their eyes, some taken aback by the suddenly bright room. "What exactly are we supposed to do in this game again? I didn't get to do anything yet!" Twilight, exhausted from explaining the game, repeats it for about the fifth time. "Our goal is to find the werewolves and vote against them as the majority. The werewolves and minions goal is to take suspicion off the werewolves anyway they can."
Rainbow dash slams her hooves on the table, flapping her wings vigorously. "If Rarity is the minion, shouldn't we just accuse her and win?" Rarity respectively slams her hooves down as well. "No way am I losing this fast because of a stupid mistake!" Twilight pushed them back to their seats using magic. "Actually, the goal is to not hang the minion. We're looking for the werewolves, remember?" At the word werewolf, Fluttershy shrunk back a bit, which Twilight took note of.
"So you're the mason, Rainbow?" Rainbow dash sat back in her chair, crossing her legs and positioning her hooves behind her head. "Yeah, this game is stupid. 'Look for other mason's' it said." Twilight raised an eyebrow. "So there's no other mason, huh? Sounds like something a Werewolf would say to throw off suspicion." Rainbow dash hovered forward, suddenly serious. "YOU are accusing ME? Game on, werewolf!"
"If I may interject, Ah am a seer, and the middle cards were a mason and a troublemaker. So Rainbow dash is telling the truth." Rainbow dash points at Applejack to make a point. "See! She's got my back!" Twilight planned for this, however. "Yeah, but the werewolves and minion are working together. For all we know you're lying and the seer is in the middle." Rarity stopped her silent act and interrupted. "Applejack, lie? Twilight, she's the element of honesty! Seriously, when's the last time she actually told a lie?" Twilight, knowing Rarity was town, tried to throw suspicion onto her in an effort to make herself look worse. "Well, Rarity, Applejack is fully aware that this is just a game and it is okay to lie for the purpose of your team."
It's okay to lie? Maybe I should... no, she wouldn't like that. Well, she knows it's just for fun... Maybe she'll be fine with it. "Uh, excuse me, Twilight? You're acting kind of suspicious yourself." Twilight intentionally acted dramatic. "What? Me? I'm trying to help you guys." Pinkie pie had been holding in laughter the entire game, letting it all out, laughing obnoxiously. "You guys are the best! This game is amazing, you guys are amazing!" Rarity looks at her confused. "Uh, what's so funny dear?" Pinkie pie stops laughing, leaving a huge smile on her face. "You guys are! Twilight is obviously trying to get people suspicious of her by blaming everyone else and you guys are totally falling for it, especially when she said Applejack lied Applejack doesn't lie, silly!"
"What???" Twilight was completely confused, how'd she know all that? That answer will probably never come because she's pinkie, but it's a question nonetheless. Fluttershy shrinks farther into her seat. Applejack sits up. "So, we know Twilight is probably a Minion, but didn't we think Rarity was a minion? Does that make Rarity a robber? We know Rainbow dash is a mason so Rarity knows who the werewolves are." Rarity's face lit up. "I do, actually! The werewolves are-" She turns and points at Pinkie pie. "-Pinkie pie and Fluttershy!" They laugh and hide under the table respectively. At this point the timer goes off, telling them to point at who they wish to hang.
"3...2...1..."
Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow dash all point at Pinkie pie. The werewolves point at Rarity along with the minion (Twilight).
"So, that means you both die. Reveal your cards first." Pinkie pie reveals that she is a werewolf, much to everyone's delight. Rarity reveals that she is a robber. "That wasn't my card!" Twilight laughs. "That's because it was mine! Robber's switch cards with somepony of my choice, and I chose you!"
By the end of the game:
Twilight: Minion (Lost)
Rarity: Robber (Won)
Rainbow dash: Mason (Won)
Fluttershy: Werewolf (Lost)
Applejack: Sheer (Won)
Pinkie pie: Werewolf (Lost)
Rainbow dash gave a small smile. "I don't know about you, but winning this game is fun. Emphasis on winning."
