Mark2
Previous ChapterLuna stared nervously out of the carage window as the surrounding forest went by. Never had she thought things would come to this. She thought Celestia would be understanding about her sister's actions. But instead saw them as a decraltion of war? Why? Why was Celestia so hateful? Though, the more Luna thought about it, the more it made sense. Celestia was never quite the same after she saw what she could be. She had become cruel to those who did her wrong. Luna curst Starlight. Her action may have fixed things at the time, but they lead to this. An all out civil war.
Luna sighed. Now her subjects were dieing, for her, for her cause. She had pledged to protect them when she returned from her banishment. And now they were willingly giving there lives for her.
Had Celestia been that blind about things in her absence? Had she ruled so unjustly that they would be willing to revolt against her? Sure,Luna had played a part in it. Giving them hopes of a new Equestrian nation. But so many ponies were joining her army, more than she thought would join. There's no turning back for this. This will go down in history as Equestria's greatest conflict. And there would be no true victor.
A soft voice broke her from her thoughs. It was Inferno.
"We're almost there Princess."
"What do I say? Inferno? I'am sinding them off to die. What do I tell them? 'Thank you for giving your life to my cause'?" She looked him in the eye.
"I know it's hard Luna, but they need to see you before battle."
"Why!?" She siad, rising her voice.
"To rise their morel, to give them hope, to remind them what they are fighting for. Luna, you are the most powerful weapon we have. As long as they know you care about them anuff to visit them be for their baptism, they will fight for a cause, for a risen to live."
Luna looked back out small window.
"Oh."
"Are you inspired or do I have to keep talking bullshit?" He cocked his eye brow.
Luna smiled. He always had a way of cheering her up in darkest of times.
"No need for further inspiration Inferno, thanks."
She was glad her bodyguard/head General was also her dearest firend. The large dark grey stallion had been her firend sence they were mere foals. He was the only one she would trust her life with.
"Good, cause we're here." Inferno said looking out the window in his side.
Luna watched as they entered the outer part of the camp.
Soldiers looked up from their varied tasks as the armored carage pulled by equally armored team rolled past them.
Tanks lined the outer egd. The dirty faced crews in black jump suites saluted as it rolled by.
"Inferno, have them stop the carage. I wish to walk the rest of the way."
"But Luna! It's t...." He tried to protest against it but she looked him in the eyes.
"Please." She said softly. He nodded and told the driver to stop. When the carage came to a halt she got out. Quickly Followed by Inferno, who winced from the sudden brightness outside. Putting on his dark sun glasses he cot up with Luna who was making her way to the center of camp.
Luna looked forward keeping her head held up, but every now and then would glace at the young soldiers who were watching her. Most of them stopped what they were doing to watch her walk by, both in awe and shock to see the Princess walking amungest them. Some even saluted as she went by. Weather to get or Inferno see didn't know.
She noticed a large tank at the edge of a large gathering area in the middle of camp. Soldiers stood atop it's lager mass to get a better view, on it side it bore her moon.
As they stated to wade through the crowd Inferno got in front of her. Using his larger build to shove ponies out if his way to make a path for Luna to walk though.
A older looking stallion noticed Luna and walked towards her.
"Princess Luna! Thank God you..." Inferno, seeing someone coming at the Princess, stepped in front of the stallion. Using his massive wing as a shield to stop the stranger before he could potentially harm Luna.
"What do you think your doing?" Inferno ask the stallion. Luna glared at Inferno.
"Inferno, it's ok. Drop your wing." He did as he was asked. Folding his wing back to his side. But still eyeing the stallion.
"I am Captain Broken Sticks, I command this regiment your highness. General Brick Wall has already arrived."
Luna looked to a small stage, a stand had been set up as a place for her to speak. Nothing fancy, just a simple wooden frame with a Lunar banner draped over it. She would say a few words about the courage of her soliders, how honored she was that they would fight for her and the importance of the up coming battle.
"Very well then, we musent keep General Brick Wall waiting."
The captain stepped out of the way to let her and Inferno on to the stage. As she climbed the small stares she saw Brick Wall sitting down looking over a piece of paper. He looked up and saluted.
"Princess Luna, I was beginning to worry about you." He said, getting up from his seat.
"No need to worry General, I'am here now."
"Ya, I see now I had on reason to worry." Brick Wall inclined his head to Inferno. "How you doing you old stallion?"
Inferno chuckled.
"Better than you are."
Brick Wall smiled.
"I bet you are." He then looked to Luna.
"Well, you ready to get this show on the road?"
She nodded, looking to both of them.
"Yes, I suppose we should start. I assume I am to start of with a inspirational speech and let you two go over tactical matters."
"Ya, that seems to be all." Inferno said, taking a seat by the stare case.
Brick Wall took his seat and waved for somepony to test the mic.
Luna closed her eyes, looking back to the Equestria she remembered. She had mentioned to Celestia about going back to the those laws. Back to that way of life. We're every pony of all species worked togethe helping each other, but Celestia ignored her, saying that it was time for a new Equestria.
Indeed It is she thought. Her sister had tricked her in to declaring war, killing her subjects for no reason other than to say Luna started this all.
She opened her eyes, hearing her name called. She walked up to the podium. Looking out the the sea of Black and Gray uniforms. Her soldiers, faithful and willing to fight.
Celestia may have started this war, but Luna had every intention to end it.
She cleared her throat, all eyes on her.
" Soldiers of the Lunar Republic, i thank you."
