A hospital monitor beeped in a slow, monotunus tone. A small, purple, unicorn filly laid in a clean white hospital bed. She had short blonde hair. She had her eyes closed as if she was in a peaceful sleep.
Next to the bed, another pony sat in a rickety wooden chair. She had the same color coat as the filly in the bed, the same blonde hair. The only difference was that she had wings. She has light yellow eyes that were facing different directions.
She placed a hoof on the filly's bed. Tears started to well up in her eyes. "Keep fighting Dinky. I know you can fight." She whispered softly.
The door leading to the hallway opened, and Nurse RedHeart poked her head into the room. " Derpy, the doctor would like to speak with you. He says he may have a way to cure her." Derpy lifted her head and looked at the nurse. "No, I can't leave my baby's side." Derpy said. "Please Derpy, I will look over Dinky, just please see the doctor." Nurse Redheart said. Derpy sighed and got ot her hooves. She walked out the door and to the doctors office.
As she walked down the corridor she heard other ponies weeping as their loved ones died from this unknown illness. A white pony with a purple mane wept as her sister, a young school filly name Sweetie Belle, was carried away with a sheet over her head.
She finally arrived at the doctor's office. She pushed open the door, where the doctor was examining a vial of red liquid. "Oh, ms. Hooves. Thank you for coming. Please take a seat." Derpy sat in the chair in front of a large desk. "I have been examining the blood of Dinky, and I may have found a possible cure. You see, this sample of Dinky's blood has been infected with the disease, but if we put healthy, clean blood in her bloodstream, it may beat out the infected blood." The doctor said. Derpy had been staring at the wall, but she had been listening to the doctor's every word.
"I will do anything to save my daughter. Even if it means me never having a normal life again." Derpy said. "Hold on we need to make sure you have the same blood type." The doctor said. "Type O negative. I had it taken the day Dinky was born." Derpy said. The doctor took out a folder. "Oh yes. Well whenever you are ready we–" His words were cut short by a alarm ringing and a voice telling him to report to Dinky's room.
When they got there, nurse Redheart was standing over Dinky. Dinky was not breathing. "DINKY! NO!!" Derpy screamed. Nurse Redheart began to peform CPR.
The color began to drain from Dinky's face as the blood was literally being sucked out of her. "Please doctor, please perform the tranfusion. Please, we don't have much time." Derpy pleaded. "But Derpy, that big a transfusion, can kill somepony." The doctor said. "I don't care. Please save my baby." Derpy pleaded. The doctor finally gave in. "Please prep her."
The next morning, Dinky opened her eyes. The first time in weeks. She was greeted by Twilight Sparkle. "Dinky! You're ok." She hugged her. "Thanks but, were is mommy?" She asked.
Twilight's face fell. Dinky sworn she saw a tear fall down her face. "What's wrong. What happened to mommy?" Dinky asked.
Twilight took a deep breath. "Dinky, Your mother, she.. she. she died saving you." She said, tears cascading down her face. For the first time in her life, Dinky felt alone, as tears cascaded down her face..
6 days later
Ponies sat in their seats in black dresses. They were crying. They went to Derpy coffin one by one and cried as they said their goodbyes.
Dinky was crying hardest of all. She approached her mother and sobbed. She reached and hugged her mother she then placed a blueberry muffing on her chest. "Goodbye, mommy." She said, as they lowered her coffin into the ground.

Twilight: When I got called to go to the hospital, I was shocked. The last time I had been to the hospital was with the puke fest 3 years ago. When nurse redheart told me that Derpy had died. I.. I don't know how I felt, it was like a a rock had been dropped into my stomach. When Dinky asked me what happened. It felt like, the words were forced out. That was the worst day of my life.
