Chapter 1: A Bitter Break- Up.

" No Longer Under Your Wing"

2 Days Earlier........

Scootaloo was almost ready for her big show; The Annual Ponyville Talent Show. Scootaloo could not wait, she had been practicing her scooter routine for months on end. After last year's humiliating performance where Scootaloo actually tried singing ( Humiliating does not equal comedy like she had originally thought afterwards), She knew what she really wanted to do: perform daring feats of daredevil danger much like her idol and "adopted" big sister, Rainbow Dash.

Just as Scootaloo was cleaning up the obstacles from her practice routine, there she saw up in the sky the pony that was always in her mind, Rainbow. Scootaloo could just imagine how awesome it would be if the legendary element of loyalty, Rainbow Dash were to go to her measly talent show. Scootaloo was practically shrieking in glee.......or actually shrieking in glee as the sudden outburst caught Rainbow's attention.

" Hey, Squirt!" the rainbow Pegasus exclaimed, " You still out here practicing for your talent show?"

Scootaloo couldn't help but smile, " Yeah! It's going to be AWESOME!!!!!!"

" Rainbow Awesome???" Rainbow Dash asked.

" Well..... maybe not RAINBOW Awesome, but SCOOTALOO Awesome?! Definitely!" proclaimed the young orange Pegasus.

" That's the spirit, squirt!" Rainbow said. " What time is your show again?"

" Saturday at 8:00." replied Scootaloo. " Are you actually going to come?"

" Have I ever let you down, kid?" Rainbow proclaimed.

" Well actually yeah...you have.... multiple times." Scootaloo's smile turned into a somber look as she continued to speak, slowly realizing the previous times the rainbow mare had forgotten to show up for her. " There was the BMX tournament you missed, the Carrot Eating Contest that just so happened to be on the same date as a Wonderbolts Show, the Pony Family Dance Marathon where I sat in the corner..."...

" Ok, Ok, I get it... I may not exactly be the element of memory.." Rainbow Dash said with a big blush of red on her face, " But I will make you the biggest promise in the world that I will be there."

Scootaloo held a skeptical look on her face as she asked, " Really? The biggest promise in the world?".

" The biggest!" spoke Rainbow. " The element of Loyalty will not let you down!"

That Night......

Scootaloo was just about ready to go out on stage with her scooter as she couldn't wait to begin. She quickly peeked out through the curtain to see if the rainbow-maned Pegasus had kept to her promise. The smile on her face instantly turned into a look of utter sadness as she saw all of her closest friends...... except for the one that mattered the most.

" She....didn't come?" spoke Scootaloo with tears in her eyes. This was turning out to be the worst day of her life. Rainbow had made the biggest promise in the world that she would be front row and center for Scootaloo's performance but with no Dash in sight, Scootaloo knew that it was hopeless. " She couldn't even bother to show up..." a now angry Scootaloo said.

Scootaloo had done her performance with ease. She had done backflips, front- flips, complete 360- degree spins, even a finale which was done with a 40 ft. ramp, all without a single mistake. Despite her incredible performance, the pony performer was seen with a frown throughout the whole show. No Rainbow in sight left Scootaloo to deal with her biggest enemy: disappointment.

After the show, which Scootaloo had secured the first place trophy, all.... well, most... of her friends had met her backstage to congratulate her.

" We're all so proud of you" said Twilight Sparkle.

" Stupendous, Darling" agreed Rarity.

" Woo- Hoo!!!!!!" exclaimed Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle.

" Yer' a natural." quoted Applejack.

" Whatever Pinkie Pie says." said Pinkie Pie who was immediately met with stares of confusion from her friends.

Fluttershy however noticed that something was odd in Scootaloo's demeanor and spoke up, " What's the matter, Sweetheart? You don't look very happy?"

Scootaloo tensed up before she slowly whispered, " Rainbow never came...."

Out of the blue, the pony in question came barreling through the curtains, sweat plastered on her face as she had to pause to catch her breath. " Sorry, I'm late, Everypony! I thought the talent show was tomorrow night."

Dash was immediately met with stares of pity, frustration, and anger. the room went silent for a full minute before Scootaloo couldn't take it anymore. She was through seeing Rainbow break promises time and time again. She didn't want to be bothered with the emotional pain that came through a failed promise again.... if this is what having a sister was, she didn't want one anymore.

" Sorry? You're SORRY!!!! Oh, well I guess that's okay, seeing the Incredibly Scatterbrained Rainbow Dash can't make good on her word!!!!! I guess I can just forgive you and hope you can be bothered to come next time!!!!" mocked Scootaloo.

Everypony's jaws flew open as they couldn't believe what the young Pegasus had just said. ( Rarity even put her hooves over Sweetie Belle's ears for good measure.)

Rainbow finally spoke up in an uncharacteristically timid matter. " Scoots.... I said I'm sorry.... I know you're mad at me, but I'm sure I can make it up to you someh......." as Rainbow was cut short by a fuming Scootaloo.

" YOU CAN"T MAKE IT UP!!!! YOU ALREADY SCREWED UP ENOUGH TIMES!!!!!!! YOU'RE LAZY, INCONSIDERATE, AND HAVE AN EGO THE SIZE OF THE SUN!!! YOU'VE SCREWED ME OVER MULTIPLE TIMES, BROKE THE BIGGEST PROBLEM INN THE WORLD AND WANT ME TO FORGIVE YOU!!!!?!?!?!!?!?!?! NO. IN FACT, I DON'T WANT ANYTHING MORE TO DO WITH YOU!!!! I DON'T WANT YOU IN MY LIFE!!!!" cried Scootaloo with tears in her eyes as she quickly took off on her scooter into the moonlight.

Everypony stood there in shock for the longest time until they felt it was time to go to bed.... all except for Rainbow Dash, whose eyes were as big as soccer balls and her lips were muttering repeatedly, "... What have I done??!"

Author's Note

I Know this story is kind of "Bare Bones" in some spots, but trust me when I say I've got a lot more material and ideas for this story. Until then, see you at the next chapter.
