//-------------------------------------------------------// An Odd New World -by Sugarcube66- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Mirror Portal //-------------------------------------------------------// Mirror Portal Trotting down the Canterlot Castle hallway, young unicorn Twilight Sparkle sighed. She had just suffered rejected from her friends, when she believed that her soon-to-be sister-in-law was a imposer. Sure, it was later to be revealed as true but did the young mare get a apology for the rejection? None. Not a single pony apologized for her actions, not even from Fluttershy. This was only made worst by the fact that her friends weren't the only ones, who had rejected her. But so had her brother and teacher, Princess Celestia. Sure, Twilight understood her brother's rejection, she had literally called his fiancee evil. But her mentor's rejection came to a crushing pain, Celestia was like a mother to her and to hear her 'mother' say those words hurt her to a fullest. But there came no apology, even after the Changelings had be removed from Canterlot. She sighed again, trying to put her mind off the wedding and put her mind onto something a lot more happier. One finally came to her, being saving her sister-in-law was a happier thought and Cadance was one of the few ponies, who didn't just leave her after the wedding. The only reason that Cadance wasn't with her at the moment was because Twilight wanted some alone time away from the Reception. Her thoughts then switched back to her friends, the reason why she wanted alone time in the first place and the reason she was wandering a long hallway away from the outdoor reception spot. Twilight's mind was now going on a endless loop that made her feel very sad. Tears dribbled down her lavender muzzle as she walked past a oddly placed door. Her horn seemed to pick up on a odd energy signal, it removed her sadness and built up on a curiosity to find out where the energy source was coming from. She cast a simple location spell and followed the energy trail into the room she had just past. Stood on the opposite side of the room was her energy origin, a large mirror with strange images of different animals engraved into the outer edge, but only a few looked like normal creatures. ''What the....'' She whispered to herself as she walked closer and put a hoof on the engravings. One stood out to her the most, it was a image of what looked similar to a dragon with tusks coming from it's mouth and a long horn-like structure on the back of it's head. It reminded her somewhat of her trusted assistant, Spike. ''These don't look like normal creatures...........'' Her eyes scanned over each engraved image, trying to see if any of them were recognizable. Finally her eyes landed on a owl-like creature, that reminded her of Owlowiscious, but with a clock-like structure on it's forehead. ''Where is this energy coming through?'' She asked, realizing the energy signals were back. ''They seem to be originating from the mirror, but how is that possible?....'' She moved closer to the center of the mirror, realizing that she didn't have a reflection like she should. Growing very suspicious, she gently pressed a hoof on the glass layer of the mirror. But instead of feeling a smooth, cold surface, her hoof went straight through the mirror. She pulled back instantly, gasping with shock. Checking her hoof was okay, she mouthed her confusion in a simple and short sentence of shock. ''What in Equestria..!?'' She looked at the door that she had entered. ''I should go ask the princess......but what if when we come back, the mirror is acting normal. I'll look stupid and get seen as paranoid.....'' Her paranoia was growing now, she tried to deny being paranoid but it was clear that the mirror was confusing her. ''I s-should go see what's on the o-other side. Maybe I can do some r-research and get some proof about what this mirror truly is. And it'll give me a chance to get away from the girls....'' It seemed like a terrible excuse to keep away from her friends, but she didn't want to see them until she knew an apology would come. And she didn't think that would ever happen. And she was curious on what this mirror contained. Taking one look at the door again, considering the options. ''I'll go....'' She whispered, and with a bound of unusual courage, she stepped through the mirror. It seemed to stretch and morph her physical shape, causing her to pass out from the all of the confusing and odd sensations. Waking up was the hardest thing for Twilight as she pushed herself off the ground. Gently rubbing her face with her hoof, she took in a long breath and opened her purple eyes to look around. The place she was in looked rather normal, with all types of flora and fauna. But what confused her was the types of creatures that seemed to surround her. Some looked normal like a bird or a monkey. But others were very confusing, such as looking like a group of eggs or something. She blinked, trying to figure out what was going on. She gently rubbed her eyes again but this time when she removed her hoof, she noticed something very odd. There were fingers on her hoof, fingers like those on a Minotaur, and not the mention her 'hoof' was a pale cream-like color unlike her usual lavender. Her hair was still purple though, but her tail was missing. And she seemed to be wearing a purple t-shirt and a skirt that had her cutie mark sketched onto it. ''What is...what is this?...'' She stumbled, trying to figure out an excuse for why she looked so odd. She felt like she was some sort of minotaur or a hairless ape. She blinked, as she tried to get up onto all fours. Only to scratch her 'hoof' on the ground. ''Ow...'' She mumbled. ''Do I have to stand like a minotaur?....'' She tried to, getting onto her back legs. It was a bit wobbly, but a lot more stable that on all fours. She could see sightly more clearly and could now tell that she was in some sort of field. She wasn't sure what to do, but looked around anyway. She then heard hoof steps and looked behind her to see another one of her new 'species' coming up towards her. It seemed like a masculine version though, as he was wearing a blue jacket with black trousers. On the 'stallion's' shoulder was what looked like a yellow rodent with elongated ears with black highlights. And a odd lightning-like tail. ''Hey, are you alright?'' The 'stallion' said as he got close enough, with the creature making a odd sound that sounded like 'pika?'. //-------------------------------------------------------// Egg-citing Beginning //-------------------------------------------------------// Egg-citing Beginning Twilight managed to bring her voice to work. ''Um, I think I'm alright. Thank you for asking, sir...'' She tried to be polite, but her lack of grace in this new form really didn't help her. However, it didn't stop the boy from grinning and his 'creature' from crying out in delight. She noticed the yellow creature and decided to ask about it, out a plain curiosity and almost fright. ''If you don't mind me asking, what is that creature on your shoulder?'' The boy seemed stunned by the question, like he had never expected anyp-one to say that sentence. But he managed to shake his head and answer Twilight's 'absurd' question. ''His name is Pikachu, he's a Pokemon. An electric-type to clarify. He's also my best friend and starter Pokemon.'' The declared Pikachu nodded and said 'Pi-chu' as his response to the boy's lines. The boy smiled as he patted the Pikachu's fuzzy, yellow head, causing him to cry out in glee. ''Pikachu?....Pokemon?...'' whispered Twilight, trying to wrap her head around the concept of Pokemon and the Pikachu on the boy's shoulder as a thought came into her head. She looked up at the boy again, mouthing her question in the best way she could think of. ''W-well.'' She stumbled a little. ''....Mind telling me how I can obtain this 'Pokemon' thing you speak of?'' Again, the shock of the boy's face was evident. ''Uh, don't you know? From the age of 10, Pokemon can be caught and trained by young people named trainers.'' He pulled out a oddly looking red and white ball and seemed to summon 2 creatures, one that looked like a giant bird with red and yellow highlights and another that looked like a huge butterfly ('Fluttershy would like it here' thought Twilight) with purple and blue coloration. ''Meet my other Pokemon, Pidgeotto and Butterfree. I caught them recently and they helped me beat my first ever gym battle against my new friend Brock.'' ''Gym battle?'' Twilight whispered questioningly once again, as she looked at the Pidgeotto and Butterfree with intense curiosity. She was so confused, having clearly figured out that she was definitely not in Equestria any longer. She sighed and realized something important. ''Um, I apologized for not introducing myself. My name is Twilight Sparkle.'' ''Twilight, huh? Cute name.'' said the boy, with a happy tone. He seemed quite pleased to know her name or something. ''My name is Ash Ketchum and you already met Pikachu and the others.'' He recalled the other Pokemon. He turned, looking at a nearby town. He then smiled and turned to Twilight once more, saying what he was thinking. ''I can show you to my friends and help you obtain a Pokemon of your own. If that is what you would like to do.'' ''That seems like a good place to start....'' thought Twilight out-loud. She nodded, smiling a little. ''Okay, that seems like a good idea. I would like to have a Pokemon so I can get use to this world's norms and values.'' Ash seemed to smile at this sentence, even though he didn't understand what she meant by it. He then began to walk towards the town, beckoning Twilight to follow him which she swiftly did. The town wasn't a long walk, or it wouldn't be on a normal walk there. The reason for that was because Twilight had fallen over a rock, or what she originally thought was a rock. When she looked up, it was actually a green egg that she had tripped over. She instantly got up, dusted herself off and checked the egg for any cracks, fearing it's mother's reaction to a crack. She sighed with relief when she realized that there wasn't a crack, well at first. The egg shook a little, cracking down the center. Twilight's eyes widened, stumbling as she looked at the crack. ''A-ash, I think we should hurry up. I don't think this egg will take much longer to hatch and it's mother isn't around...'' Ash nodded in agreement, he could clearly see the crack in the egg. ''That sound like a good idea. My friend, Brock, will know what to do.'' He helped Twilight pick up the egg and they quickened their pace down the town. The egg seemed to be giving off odd vibes that confused and concerned Twilight as she thought something was very wrong. 'This is not natural!' Her brain was screaming, even Spike's hatching seemed normal in comparison with the fact it was down to magic that caused him to be born, instead of an odd psychic vibe, almost. They arrived into the town and Ash lead the way to a red-roofed building. Inside the building was a pink haired woman waited across from them, but Ash didn't go towards her. But to the side, were a couple of seats which sat a pair of Pokemon trainers. One, a girl, had orange-red hair with soft blue eyes and the other, a boy, had brown hair, but his eyes seemed to mysteriously be shut constantly or something. Ash walked over to them, catching their attention. The girl stood up and smiled at him, even though she spoke in a teasingly mocking tone. ''About time you came back. How did training go?'' ''It went well, until...'' He paused, as Twilight stepped forth with the egg. She placed it carefully down on the table, causing wide eyes from the other two trainers. ''Twilight, here, discovered this Pokemon egg out in the wild. Brock, we were hoping you could help us so we can hatch it and consider what we should do with it.'' Brock nodded in understanding as he peered at the egg. ''Looks like a Axew egg.'' He got confused looks from the other three trainers in the room. He choose to simply describe it's states and abilities to the group. ''Axew is a dragon-type from the Unova region. Born with either the Mold Breaker Ability or the Rivalry ability. However, it's hidden ability is Unnerve. It's known for it's large tusks on the side of it's mouth, they can also be very good at climbing walls, I hear.'' Ash looked intrigued by the sound of the Pokemon and suddenly yelled out. ''That sounds so cool!'' The yelling surprised everyone in the room and caused Pikachu to hop off his shoulder and onto the table. The yellow rodent that jumped onto the orange haired girl's lap, causing her to pet him with a smile. ''I would love a Pokemon like that.'' yelled Ash again, with little care. Twilight, who was still quite confused about the concept of Pokemon, chose to ignore him and let her thoughts wander onto the Pokemon in the egg. A dragon-type? 'That sounds a lot like Spike, he's a dragon....' She thought with a little bit a sadness, but she tried to ignore the pain of leaving that world and focus on the unique wonders she could find here. She peered at the egg more, watching it crack until suddenly a bright light emitted. The light intensified, near blinding the people in the room. When the light dimmed, the egg had cracked and revealed the Pokemon within. It looked up at Twilight and simply went. ''Axew?...''
