Over nine hundred years has pasted since the fall of Princess Luna and the arrival of Night Mare Moon. Nine hundred years since Princess Celestia was forced to banish her sister to the very moon she was moving into place right now. As the moon rises in the night sky, the silhouette of a mare can be seen on the surface of the moon.

The moon illumines its light over Canterlot as the Princess of the sun sits on a balcony as her horn stops glowing a golden hull. She stares back at the silhouette of the moon, for it serves as a constant reminder of her lost. She then turns away from the moon and heads inside.

The room is filled with emblems of crescent moons with a theme of a dark blue. The room is well kept; no dust could be found on any surface. The bed is made to perfection as a ponyikin stands in the corner waiting to be put to use. This was … no, this is her sisters’ room.

Celestia walks over to a dresser with a large mirror over it, as she reaches for a picture resting on it. In the picture where four ponies consisting of a dark blue stallion, a white mare, a white filly, and a small dark blue foul wrapped in a matching blanket. Celestia slowly drags a hoof down the picture as a tear drops form her onto it.

“It is not fair.” She said as she wipes away her tears and cleans the picture. “First Mom, then Dad, and now Luna.” She sniffs as she rubs her muzzle with her hoof. “It is not fair.” She takes the picture with her magic as she steps out on the balcony as she takes to the skies.

She flies back to her balcony and walks to her telescope. One of the lunar guards was there waiting for her. “Good night Princess Celestia.” He said as he strikes a salute.

“And a good night to you too.” She said as she sets the picture next to the telescope. “Anything to report tonight?”

The lunar guard shakes his head “Thankfully no, your highness.” He replied as he returned to his normal stances.

“That is good to hear.” Celestia then steps behind the telescope. “Can you call a maid to bring me some coffee and cake please.”

“At once your highness.” He said disappearing into the room behind him. Celestia then looks into her telescope. She can see some late-night ponies going home from work, or going on a date.

“All clear” She then looks towards Las Pegasus. She can see ponies having a good time. “All clear” She then looks towards the Everfree forest; no pony running form danger. “All clear”

Then the sound of metal on stone could be heard behind her signaling the return of her guard for the night. Celestia turns away from the telescope as a maid came walking towards her with a cart of what she requested. “Thank you my ponies.” Both ponies bowed in respect.

After a quick snack break She returned to her duties for the night. “All….” She stops mid-sentence with cause her guard a moment for concern.

“Is there something the matter?”  he asked but she didn’t respond.

Through the telescope Celestia has a clear view of a small family turning on for the night. “All…” She can see a mare kissing her children good night as she tucks them in. “All….” She can she her mouthing words that Celestia knew all too well. “I love you, my little sunshine.” She whispered to herself.

“Pardon me. I didn’t catch that your highness.” The lunar guard said. Celestia spans out of it as she turned to address her guard, but could say anything to him. She opens and closes her mouth a few times before she takes off into the sky. She had no idea where she was going but she didn’t care. Celestia was trying in vain to fly away from the pain that is in her heart. Tears flew down from her eyes as she continues to fly into night.

The princess of the sun came to rest in her gardens as she lays across the grass and flowers all around her. ‘So, this is it. This is the end of the great princess of Equestria.’ She thought to herself. ‘Her ponies will be ok without her. All the greatest threats to them are locked away in Tartarus or banish away of the lands forever.’ She pulls her limbs into her body trying to be as small as possible. ‘I am no longer worthy of the title of princess. A princess is supposed to be strong for her ponies and a responsible leader.’ She closes her eyes ‘What kind of princess have a mental break down after saving her ponies.’

“Waaaahhh!”

‘I must be hearing thing. For a moment, I thought I heard a ‘ her thought was interrupted by the same sound. ‘What?’

Celestia lifts her head looking around for the sound again. ‘Surely the mother is nearby.’ She heard the sound again as it grows in volume. ‘But what if something happened to either?’ Celestia got to her feet as she closed in on the infant.

It didn’t take long to find the infant. The baby was wrapped in a dirty blanket at the base of stone statue but Celestia was paying attention to it, but rather the small infant. Pulling the blanket back a little revealed a small creature she has never seen before.

“What are you little one?”
