Chapter 1
“Hey. Time to get up Gramps!” A voice called out from the darkness.
“Give me 5 more minutes.” He said sleepily.
“You said that 5 mins ago, you do remember what day it is right?” The voice said.
“Fine,” he said. He put on his goggles, took off his covers from his bed. “There happy?”
“Yes, let's get you out of bed and up around.” the voice said.
“Scarlet let me, I got it this time,” he said.
“Don’t hurt yourself, gramps, Ok?” Scarlet said.
He got up from the bed stiff as a plank. “I really need to get something better to sleep on.” He said, “Pass me my suit I don't think I can go far.”
“Gramps you have it on,” Scarlet said As she brought over his clothes. His old work clothes.
“Ok Scarlet let’s get them on,” he said. After some fumbling around and some swearing, they were on.
“Ok, gramps let get you out.You got a big day ahead of you,” she said as she rolled a wheelchair over. He thanked her and sat down. “Ready gramps?” Scarlet said.
“Yes, Scarlet.”He said. As she wheeled him out of his bedroom and into the living room. “Can you be a dear and get me my coffee and some food?” She parked him at the table.
“Sure Gramps” Scarlet said as she poured him his coffee.
“Thank you, An old pony like myself always need something to keep me up in the morning.” he said.
“Here gramps.” She said as he put a plate out in front of him. She kissed him on the head and sat down at her spot.
“Stop calling me gramps it’s really getting to me.” he said.
“Ok Bolted,” Scarlet said, she turn on the TV. The News station popped up.
“Good morning Equestria! I’m Featherweight and here is your news. Today we celebrate the wipe out of the caribou from our home thanks to the hard work of our king Bolted Tinker and the queen Celestial Fire. Without their work, Equestria would be a mess. Everything would be in hell and we would be enslaved. Today there is a parade for them.” Featherweight said.
“Turn it off Scarlet, I’m done and want to get out there.” he said.
“Ok Bolted, ” she said as she turned it off and took his plate.
“Thank, Scarlet, I don’t know what I would do without you.” He said as he pushed himself around to the sitting room. As she got ready for the day, he picked up a locket that was left on his desk and opened it up. It was a photo of his parents on one side. He looks lovingly into the photo. He missed them. He looked on the other side of the locket. It was him and his wife. Before they took the caribou.
“Are you ready?” yelled Scarlet from her room.
“Hold on” he yelled back. He put it on and pushed himself into his room and went to the sink and brushed his teeth and got his royal guard uniform and grabbed his hat. He went back into the other room. Scarlet had on a dress made by Rarity for this.
“Ok Scarlet let’s go,” he said as they went outside. “What do you want to take today Bolted?” she asked.
“Let me think ok?” he said. He Looked over at the modern part of the garage and then to the older part.
“I know,” he said as he rolled himself over. He opens up the older part and revealed an odd looking contraption with treads. “Let’s take this,” he said.
“What is it?” Scarlet asked. “This puppy was the thing we used to take them down,” he said.
“How do I drive it?” she asked.
“Scarlet you are not driving this”. He said.
“Bolted you can’t drive you're too old.” she said.
“My ass.” as he got up from his wheelchair.
“Watch yourself.” she said.
“I’m fine Scarlet don't fret over me.” He slowly makes his way up. 10 mins later they were ready. He turned the key and it sprang to life. “Ready?” he yelled over the engine.
“YES!” she yelled back.
“HERE WE GO” he yelled back. And they were off, Down the driveway and onto the street. He stopped and handed her a headset. She put it on. He put it in second gear as he got there.
“Where are we off to Scarlet?” he said over the headset.
“Come on Bolted you know where ” she said. There was a line of cars going into Canterlot.
“Bolted how are we going to get there in time?” she asked him.
“Watch me,” he said as he pulled off the road and onto the grass next to the road. “I know an old way in. I used it when we took back Canterlot, puts us right in the courtyard.”
“Ok Bolted,” she said as they went to an old cave.
