I should of listened to Lazarus
Author's Note
The au tag is because I can't be arsed watching every episode to remember everything and it gives me free reign to do as I please.
Some constructive criticism would be nice. You should also note that this is a vent for creativity and I may end it at any time.
Also tell what you think of Limbo, as in the warframe not the story character.
I should of listened to Lazarus
Equestria, a beautiful place filled with love and joy, a land where everypony lives happy lives under the powerful gaze of their monarchs sun, truly there is no better place to be unless of course you just so happen to die, travel dimensions and be turned into equine all the while a psycopathic super-horse tries to take over the world by bringing about eternal night. You may be wondering what poor soul had to go through that and the answer is me. I bet you're now thinking who I am, well, my name is Limbo and i'm a Tenno or warframe take your pick. So I suppose you would like me to explain everything in detail and for that we need to travel back in time to when I was experimenting with my abilities to see just how far I could push them.
"There is a high likelihood of you dying, you know that right." said a synthetic voice that resonated within a rather brightly coloured liset. The voice however was addressing a tall bipedal being that looked like it was going to attend a masquerade because of its black, violet and white tailcoat and what would appear to be a plague doctors mask and hat. The being however was within a realm that it calls 'the rift' as that was exactly what it was a rift in reality that only it can control. The well dressed biped looked to be fizzling in an out of existence as it was currently experimenting with its powers.
It responded by saying "There is also a small likelihood that I won't so i'm doing it anyway, Lazarus." the newly dubbed Lazarus could only sigh at the beings strange desire to pretty much kill itself.
"I'm aware of that Limbo but considering it's only a small chance of survival don't you think you should be cautious." Lazarus said to Limbo trying to persuade him to stop what he's doing. Unfortunately it didn't work.
Limbo then said "I am being cautious, you recording everything so if something goes wrong you can send it to Vauban, Nekros and Lotus so they can figure out what happened." of course Lazarus was not pleased with this answer but sadly being Limbo's cephalon meant he knew to never enter a prolonged argument with him because it would end badly for everyone involved except Limbo.
"Alright then, Operator, you win but but don't say I didn't warn you." Lazarus replied feeling uncomfortable about the experiment.
"Wonderful, now shall we begin?" As he said that everything started to shake and some small items like noggles and statues started to float but as soon as it started everything went back to the way it was. With the exception of Limbo.
"Operator? What happened? Where did you go?" the cephalon sighed to himself and started to contact another tenno.
"Nekros?"
"Lazarus." replied an souless voice that was empty of all emotion.
"We have a problem. You see..."
"ahhhahahaow, this must be what Excalibur feels when trying to fight Rhino, heh" said Limbo as he tries to stand but only to fall on his face "My face feels weird." and as opened his eyes he saw what looked to be a muzzle just under his vision "how peculiar." he says looking for more changes and finding quite a few of them. For starters he is a small equine similar to that of a horse or a pony as he deduced considering his size, the next thing he noticed was his dark grey almost black coat and his white mane with a few strands of purple going through it "Edgy." he said as he noticed that. Limbo then realized he was wearing somewhat familiar clothing, he had a black top hat with a black tailcoat that was purple on the inside and a white dress shirt with a purple bow tie "Pretty cool." he said seeing the bow tie. One of the final details he noticed was that he has some type of mark on his flank and it looked like a cyan vortex with his top hat in the center of it "Strange, must have something to do with my control over the rift. Speaking of rift lets see if I can still work it." as he said that he focuses on displacing himself in the rift only for his head to glow cyan which both confuse him and illuminate his surroundings which then lead to even more confusion "I'm in a castle?" he said not quite sure what to do "It just came to me i'll need to learn how to walk. Damn it."
And so the great rift walker spent the next half hour trying to walk.
"Well, hello there" Limbo said in relief as he not only learnt how to walk but he also found one of his favourite wepons, the Destreza, that must of been transported here with him but as he went to pick it up he remembered he didn't have fingers however that was fixed quickly as he knew how to levitate objects. When tried levitating it the Destreza his head started glowing again along while rapiers handle which lead it to floating and to his suprize the glow came from a horn sticking out of his head put before he could investigate further a portal opened with what he could only call a pegacorn coming out of it and this pegacorn was at the 6ft, had a onyx black coat, cyan blue eyes, had the night sky for her mane and tail and had a moon on her flanks. Shortly after her however came a unicorn just smaller than Limbo with a lavender coat, lavender eyes had dark blue/purple mane and tail with a hot pink and violet streaks and on her flanks was a star with six smaller white stars surrounding it.
"Do you truly believe you can defeat me?" the taller mare spoke in a condescending tone much to the annoyance ot the other mare a Limbo. She the proceded to levitate five grey balls around her and smash them off the ground much to the horror of the purple one.
"THE ELEMENTS!" shouted the purple one in absolute disdain which Limbo found quite over dramatic and amusing.
"MWHAHAHA NOW THE NIGHT SHALL LAST FOREVER!" The onyx one shouted which rung multiple alarm bells in Limbo's mind.
"I don't want to rain on your parade but I can't let that happen since that would kind of, mabye kill everything on the plant, so yeah, you sort need to die." said Limbo levitating his Destreza at his side.
"Who dares threaten their queen, Nightmare Moon!?" shouted the now named Nightmare
"People call me the rift walker but for formalites sake you can call me limbo, now it's about about time for you to enter the void where you belong." He stated feeling a little excited for what was surely going to be an interesting fight.
Limbo started of by charging forward and thrusting his rapier forward only to pull back as she started to block, with her newly summoned sword, and punch her in the muzzle which causeed her to recoil in both pain and suprize but before Limbo could do anything else she used her magic to push him back. "You are going to pay for challenging me!" she said as she lunged forward to try and skewer him only to miss and receive another punch to the face which enraged her more than she thought possible.
"Are teeth for show or do you just have no bite." Mocked Limbo which lead to her lifting him and throwing him into the purple mare
"You are beyond annoying." and as she said that started to charge a spell that would likely kill everything in the area and just as she fired the spell Limbo trough his hoove up in an attempt to sheil himself and then... There was nothing
For about twenty seconds, before Limbo opened his eyes seeing a very very confused Nightmare Moon covered in a cyan and black energy which Limbo immediately recognized as rift energy.
"What did you do to her?" said multiple voices in the backround. As he turned to reply he noticed five new mares.
The first and most prominent was a pink mare with darker pink mane and tail with baby blue eyes and she appeared to have three ballons as a flank mark however the most pressing detail was her massive smile that stretched to impossible levels.
After her was a yellow mare with a pink mane and tail, again blue eyes and had three butterflys on her flank, she however looked as fragile as a kavat kitten when compared to most of the others.
The next one was an orange mare with a blonde mane and tail with a brown stetson on her head and on her flank were three apples. The mare herself looked both concerned for everyones safety and confused as to what Limbo did to the Nightmare.
The next mare was rather hard to miss with her multicolored mane and tail, cyan coat with rose eyes and as her mark it was a cloud with a tri-coloured lightning bolt shooting from it. The mare herself seemed over confident while at the same time being skeptical of Limbo.
The last mare had a snow white coat with a purple mane and tail that ended in quite fashionable curls, she also had sky blue eyes. There mare however seemed to be far to focused on Limbo than anything else which made him both intrigued and nervous.
The purple mare seem to have come to a realization as she saw the other mares whereas Limbo started answering thier question "Well, you see, I banished her into the rift; it's like a different plane of existence so as long as she's in there and we are here nothing should happen as she can interact with this world merely observe." the explanation made the mares more curious it however seemed to slightly upset Nightmare Moon.
"I DEMAND YOU RELEASE ME AT ONCE YOU FOAL!!!" she shouted however Limbo didn't really care for her opinion.
"This might seem unfair to you sir but could please keep her distracted for a while, I have an idea." the purple mare whispered to Limbo.
"Yes, that should be rather simple." so while the mares dicussed their plan Limbo walked over to Nightmare only for apart of the ceiling to collapse but he dashed to the side to avoid it only to realize he had entered the rift "strange, that cost no energy." unfortunately he wasn't the only one to notice his entrance and Nightmare started her attack by swing her sword at him fortunately though he manged to block just in time only for him to stagger backward and get shot back with a blast of magic which made him lose even more focus before getting kicked in the ribs breaking some of them this caused the rift to collapse bringing them back to reality. Just as Nightmare Moon was about to bring her hoof down on his skull he saw all the mares glowing with strange looking necklaces and a crown and for some reason it gave him just enough focus for another ability which he used on himself and all of a sudden everything stopped except him which had used to his advantage by climbing on Nightmare's back and started a choke hold after that he let time resume as normal only for three things to happen
- Was that Nightmare Moons face looked hilarious when she found herself being choked.
- Everything went multicoloured.
- Everything then went black.
Limbo found himself being awoken by the sound of people talking "Lazarus, would you kindly turn on the lights." the reply he got was not from his cephalon but actually by a strangly motherly voice.
"It might help if you opened your eyes, my little pony." she said in a bemused tone of voice.
As Limbo proceded to do that he replied "That usually does help" before taking the sight before him. There was another pegacorn creature standing in front of him this one had an alabaster white coat, pink eyes and a flowing mane that reminded him of a sunrise she also had a sun mark on her flank. She appeared to have an amused smile on her face but the one thing that shocked him the most was the look he saw in her eyes. It was a look that he could find in himself and other Tenno the biggest difference was that her eyes were serene but his were, if you look far enough, cold and empty. It also seemed that she noticed considering the suprise on her face and her next statment.
"You wouldn't mind if I ask you a few questions when we arrive in Ponyvile"
You have questions and I have answers.
"So this is ponyville, smaller than I thought it would be." Limbo stated as the town came into his sight. "Looks like they're preparing for a party. I already hate this place." Limbo said with nothing but dread
"I take it you're not a fan of parties then?" said Celestia with a curious glance to the stranger beside her.
Limbo looked up and said "Its not so much the party itself and more of the fact other people are going to be there. Incase you can't tell I have a severe case of 'things that are not me are bothersome and a waste of time' it's actually a very life threatening disease as anyone spastic enough to talk to me when i'm in a bad mood or just in general could get seriously hurt."
"You seem to be against talking to anypony, why is that?" Celestia said concerned for everypony incase Limbo was serious.
"It's mainly because most people can't hold an intellectual conversation with me and their idiocy hurts to listen to." Limbo said remembering every time he spoke with Oberon. "Anyway you have questions for me and since we have arrived I say we start before I get bored and leave, sound fun, alright cool." Limbo said addressing Celestia.
"Alright everypony, go on ahead. I want to speak with Limbo in private for a bit." Celestia says, looking back at everyone and nodding for them to go forward. Which they do, although Luna was a little hesitant at first.
"Alright, we're alone. Ask what you want. I'll give you the best answer possible." Limbo says, staring at Celestia with a dull nod.
"You seem awfully complying, not that I'm ungrateful." The solar goddess says with an appreciative smile.
"We both know i'm far older than I look. I try to make it a mission to ally myself with beings equal age or older. The best way to do that is to be trusting." Limbo says with a smile. His smile was small and near non-existent, but it was there."
"I'm curious as to how you managed to achieve immortality?" Celestia ask, asks with a small hint of suspicion. Necromancy my be a lost art, but some ponies still manage to practice it somehow.
"I should start at the beginning then. I started with a war against beings known as Sentients. They were creatures capable of adapting to any type of damage thrown at them. So at some point when it was getting really bad the Orokin, the guys I worked for, sent people away on spaceships to escape. Long story short, the Zariman, the ship I and many others were on, entered the void, drove the adults insane, forced the children to fend for themselves and gave the children superpowers and immortality. That not exactly what happened, but it's close enough." Limbo says, looking at Celestia with a leveled stare. After all, no matter what he says, you don't go through stuff like that without earning a few scars. Celestia seems to feel bad though
"I guess that mean you were a child when that happened?" at that Limbo scoffed staring at her with a small glare.
"Yeah, I was. Whats worse is thst when we finally get back we are treated like lab rats. Well aside from one lady, but its to hard to remember her name. After their disgusting experiments they settle on stuffing us in suits that regulate the void, teach us how to fight and then ship us off to fight the Sentients." Celestia looks quite disturbed at this new revelation. Though even more so when Limbo started to laugh.
"Hahaha, we won the war and we come back we are all praised as heros, as if the years leading up to the war meant nothing. Haha, so when they're all drunk off victory we killed them all." no Celestia face looks torn between being sympathetic and horrified.
"I- I see, thank you for being honest." Like the conversation never happened Limbo was back to smiling
"meh, think nothing of it. Anything alse you want to ask or..?" Limbo draws off the sentence to give Celestia time to think.
"If what I'm getting from your last question is correct, you don't have a place to live here, do you." Now that got Limbo thinking, he wasn't sure he wanted to retry his experiment in case it did kill him this time. So he really was stuck there untill he finds another way out. At the same time this place is free of Grineer, Corpus and infestation. If he could go back wiuld he really want to.
"Yeah, you're right. Suppose you aren't hiring any staff for research and development." Limbo asks in a joking manner. "Seriously though, give me a year or two and I can get you ponies moving through the stars." that part was a little less joking.
"I appreciate the offer, but I don't think my little ponies would be ready for such a change so soon." Celestia says, with that eternal smile of kindness.
"Such a shame. I'll just have to look somewhere else." Limbo says, even though his situation is currently a problem he still doesn't mind. Science doesn't need a home or food or any luxury. So why should he, one if the greatest minds in the solar system, rivaled by only six other people. The Lotus, Nova, Nekros, Vauban, Tyl Regor and Alad V. Mabye Nidus, but thats a bet he's not willing to take.
"I have an idea. Why don't you try to enjoy the party for a while, I'll get everything ready." Limbo has no idea whats going to happen and that bothers him.
Limbo walks off toward the sidelines of the party and just sits there observing everything. That is until he's approach by young gir- filly. He looks at her for a moment, taking in her appearance l.
She has a grayish white and purple mane, that appears to have been well looked after with shinning Emerald eyes, that just scream innocent and snow white fur. She doesn't have a mark though. Deciding he might as well play his role of gentleman warframe he looked down at her and smiled.
"Do you need anything, my dear?" Limbo says internally he's a little thankful for the distraction, not that he'll tell anyone.
"You seemed lonely." That drew a chuckle from Limbo, how he wish he could have been like her as a child, naive and helpful. Nowadays, he is a Jackass and helpful
"I guess I am or... Was. Your here now." Of course Limbo is just humouring the girl, assuming she doesn't have many friends herself if she speaks to the first lonely across.
"No, I mean... It's hard to put into words." Now she really has Limbo attention.
"Ohh, take your time, not like I'm waiting for anyone ." Limbo encourages, with a smile.
"It's your eyes." Limbos' smile fell immediately, but let her continue, nevertheless. "It's a similar look to princess Luna and since she has been alone for a thousand years, I figured thst you might be the same." Limbo was too busy marveling that a child came up with that by herself too give a response for a few seconds.
"Sorry to go off topic, but do like science?" Limbo asks with a small and slightly hopeful smile.
"I thinks it's interesting, but it gets pretty boring when Miss Cherilee teaches it since it isn't her best subject." she says with a contemplative look.
"Would you like to help me with certain projects, when I do them. Most of them will be a little bit strange, but over all enjoyable." Limbo asks with an evem bigger smile and bit of a spark in his eye.
"What do I get?" there she goes again displaying intelligence, well common sense, but application of knowlege is still sciency.
"I'll apply for a job at your school. How does thst sound. Even if it does get boring again you'll at least have a week or two of something interesting happening." The girl looks like she's thinking it over.
"Alright then." Was her final decision and Limbo started smiling a bit more.
"Wunderbar." As Limbo says that he looks over to see Celestia with Twilight and a lizard beside them holding parchment and quil.
Celestia looks over to Limbo for and signals for him. He looks back at the girl before him and says his goodby before walking over to were Celestia is standing.
"I assume you've sorted out your plan." As he finishes that sentence, Twilight seems to either receive a fever or blushes. Much to his confusion.
"Indeed I have. I'm about to announce it to everyone." The herald of the sun says with a strangely Trollish smile.
I'm not going to like this. Limbo thinks, remembering everytime Volt made a smile like that, bad jokes usually follow.
"Take a note Spike." The Alicorn says before continuing. "From this day forward the ponies Twilight Sparkle and Limbo are going to be studying the magic of friendship in this very town, in the Golden Oaks library." and like that both ponies looking at Celestia. One happy to learn about friendship and the other just... Staring.
If she becomes anything like Volt, I will make soup out of her brain matter after I cave her skull in with a rusty spoon.
