Chapter Five: Confession

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

It went live everywhere.

CNN, Fox, BBC, you name it.

Their vans showed up and as firefighters risked their lives to prevent a burning building from collapsing, I stood at the other end of the street, a crow of news reporters pointing their cameras and microphones at me. There were white flashes of pictures being taken, there was shouting, too much for me to handle...

"How did you know there was a guy in there?"

"How did you manage to get out?"

"How are you feeling now?"

"What planet are you from?"

These are some of the questions I've been asked before I can even answer ONE of them. My tail flicked left and right in annoyance, my ears flattened and the whole time, that black van from earlier was parked away from the rest, in its own little area. My eyes darted around at the crowds of on lookers that built up from behind the yellow police tape, their phones raised.

"I...I...j-just knew I had to do something," I managed to get out, not even sure if I was answering one of the asked questions. "I couldn't let him die..."

Look at me. I'm a talking unicorn surrounded by overly curious people, over a hundred eyes locked on to me, while millions watched from behind t.v screens. I pray to god mom and dad aren't watching the news.

Sadly for me, I didn't get to go home like the rest of the students. I'm stuck here, surrounded from all sides by camera crews.

"C-can I go home now?" I squeaked, trying in vain to back away from the blinking red lights.

They followed me.

"I-I just want to go home..." I managed to say over their voices.

I could feel myself reaching my boiling point. I'm horrible around so many people and this is one big crowd of people I don't know!.

"Alexis, did you say you're a...pony?" one asked.

I nod.

They continue with their barrage of questions as I could only think of going -

POP

"Home...."

I stare up at the two story blue house with it's white trim and bush pathway with a simple oak fence to cut between the alley and the driveway. I couldn't believe my eyes....I had just teleported! I stood there for a moment, wondering how I even just did this.

I quickly headed inside, changing back into myself.

"David is that you?" I hear my mother call from up the stairs.

"Yes, mom!"

With a sigh I began to trudge up the stairs and to my room to continue my grounding. But in a flash, mom had come out into the hall and pulled me into a tight hug. She held me with such force, I thought my back was going to break.

"Oh, David! I'm so glad you're okay! I was on my way, but you just came in and..."

Mom pulls away and looks at me for a moment like she's seen a ghost as her bottom lip quivered. She then goes back into the room just as fast as she had come out. I could swear she had super speed or something.

"M-mom?" I follow her into the room and she's got the t.v on, paused and, I'm guessing you know what's on the screen.

Mom puts a hand to her mouth as she glances to me, to the t.v to me and back to the t.v. Alexis wore a red hoodie, a gold necklace with a round pendant at the end that would open, jeans and white sneakers.

I currently wear the same thing, no surprise there, but I think mom's just made the connection.

I sighed long and low, my arms falling limp to my sides.

"D-David?" mom asks whit a shakidly worried tone.

"Please....d-don't tell dad or show him if he hasn't seen..." I rub my arm then I quickly retreat to the bathroom, locking the door behind me.

Again, she doesn't follow me. Well, I'm in the bathroom, she should know not to follow.

Fur began to spread along my body, an orange silhouette of light surrounding me as my body began to change. It's about time I show her....I have to choice but to do so anyways. I could feel my toes shrink into my feet as my feet became hooves. My hips became slightly wider, my thighs thicker, my waist thinner. My arms became fully covered in fur as they became more slender. My horn spiraled from my forehead and my ears became pointed and slid to the top of my head. My eyes grew large and bright green. I watched in the mirror as my hair fluffed out into it's maned style, my clothes disappearing as my lingerie took their place.

I look at myself in the mirror, putting a hand to it. I hope mom doesn't freak out too much...

Like earlier, I imagine myself in my clothes before with the little pop sound.

Once I'm all furry and pony upped again, I unlock the door and slowly walk out.

"Here goes nothing....."

My mother I can hear mumbling to herself in her room.

"M-mom?" I stand now in her doorway. She looks up to me and a loud gasp escaped her lips. "I-I think it's time I tell you what happened the night I didn't come home..." I look down. "I mean it when I say what I'm about to tell you is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth..."

I move my tail into my arms as I sit next to mom on the bed.

"O-ok..."

I sighed heavily. "As you know, I took that extra shift that day, right?"

She nods.

"Well, as I was coming home, I took a different route since it was nice out. I was passing through the abandoned docks for some sight seeing along the way, when a speeding car and van went by."

"What happened?" she asks weakly.

I'm not sure if she believes it's me as of nor or what, but I think she's too shocked to say anything about it if she doesn't.

"They were firing guns at each other. As they went around a corner, one of their shots....hit me..." I put a hand to my lower right abdomen.

Mom gasped again.

"The bullet lodged itself into my spine. I fell over and couldn't move my legs. Being the abandoned docks, nobody saw, came or heard my pleas for help..." I began to tear up. "I-I thought I was going to die, mom!" I wiped the side of my muzzle as a tear rolled down its side.

Mom began to tear up as well.

"Then...there was this little box that fell out of the van....I was able to reach it and there was this little ball inside, about as big as a baseball. It was a little transparent, it was glowing orange in the center. I raised t up to see it through the light of the moon..." I raised my arm up as if to demonstrate. "Then it just....grew brighter. I guess it knocked me out."

"Th-then what?"

"I woke up like this, the sun was just starting to rise and I felt horrible. I sat under a bridge for a few hours...alone...confused and crying...I mean look at me!" I stood up. "I'm a talking unicorn with boobs!"

Mom looks down.

"I-I was afraid if I came home that...you guys would shun me away..." I rub my right arm nervously.

"Oh, David..." Mom gets up and stands in front of me, "why would you ever think that?"

"I was scared..." I looked down again and then...Mom hugged me.

"David, I would never shun you away...you're my only child..." she held my firmly, and began rubbing my back. "I'm just so glad you're still alive!" she started to cry, tightening her hug.

` "M-mom...please don't cry..." I returned her affection, resting my chin on her shoulder.

"I don't care what you are now because inside, you're still my precious David..."

She pulls away, wiping tears from her eyes and cups a hand over my fluffy cheek.

"I love you, David..."

I smiled weakly as a tear crept down my cheek. "I love you too, Mom. Thanks for accepting this."

"You never asked to...get shot...why would I ever hold it against you?"

I shrug. "Also, please call me Alexis when I'm a pony...feels weird being called David like this."

Mom nods. "Fair enough. I take it you can change whenever you want?"

I nod. "W-would you be alright with me staying this way...while dad's still gone at least?"

"I wouldn't mind it in the least." she kisses the tip of my horn and ruffles my mane.

"Thanks...guess I'm not grounded anymore, huh?"

Mom nods. "I'll just tell your father that you've been punished long enough."

My stomach growls suddenly like a tiger stalking its prey and mom giggles.

"I bet after saving that boy you're pretty hungry, Dav, er....I mean Alexis?"

I nod, removing my hoodie. Damn thing plus the fur turns me into a self baking oven!

"Well, lets go see what I can whip up for my son who's now my pony daughter, shall we?" Mom smirked a sly smile at me as she went to leave the room.

I couldn't help but giggle at that.

"Shut it, mom!"

Mom laughs as she hugs me again. I didn't hesitate to return it.
