"Come on dusky" a young Pegasus filly with a bright blue coat with a short purple mane screams as she runs through the halls of the crystal empire who is followed by a young colt with a grey coat with a silver mane chasing after her,"Hey..W..Wait!" The colt screams as he clumsily trips over one of the vase crystal the filly had knocked over. As crystal stopped and looked her the sight that was her friend dusk laying flat on his face with undoubtedly red face from embarrassment she attempted to help him but was too occupied with laughing at his current state "HAHA?..HA..hehe.. oh my here let me.." crystal was cut of as dusk pushed her hoof aside "I don't need your help I can do things on my own I'm a grown stallion" he said puffing out his chest. it would have been slightly impressive except for the fact "your ten" crystal said dusk looked down and grinned "and your nine!" He shot back "And a half" both of them began to laugh before dusk calmed himself and asked "so what is it your so excited to show me" "you know it when you see it" crystal sang as she continued down the hall dusk rolling his eyes rolled behind her. The two fillies entered a door leading to a hidden stare case leading up the castle "we're almost there" crystal says "where are we..", "ah ah AH no spoilers" crystal interrupted before grabbing dusk by his hoof and dragging him to the top. The sight that dusk saw made his jaw drop farther than thought possible "is that..the" "CRYSTAL HEART" crystal finished for her dumbstruck friend "I...I've never seen this close...not even at the festival there's always a guard keeping us a few feet back" dusk said in awe "really... the priest say it's good for the citizens to have their love near the heart" crystal said curiously before a smile consumes her face "HEEEY...have you ever heard of the legend of the heart" crystal questioned, "the what legend" dusk ask " sigh..legends says that if ponies look into the with a clear mind only feeling the love emanating from the heart you can see your destiny" she said smiling "is it real?" Dusk asked again "dunno..I wanted to do it with you first" crystal said blushing a bright crimson before looking away dusk matched her before grabbing her hoof. "Together" dusk said holding crystal in his hoof as she nodded in response before both looked deep into the heart clearing their minds, crystal was the first to say something "I..I see it...I see me...I'm so tall...and...and" crystal was ignored by dusk as he struggled to see the image before him as if it was being obscured by a dark haze he grunted in annoyance at this, Crystal Gasped as she realized the image in front of he "I'm going to be a alicorn!" Crystal screamed before letting go of dusk who as soon as the contact was removed fell limp. "D...d.dusky.." crystal approached her unmoving friend poking him with a hoof "no no no no no" she repeated as she turned him over realizing he wasn't breathing with this knowledge she tumbled down the stairs screaming for one of the priests.

  Darkness that was all dusk could see cold empty emotionless darkness "h..hello" he said trying to call out for somepony anypony but all he got was a echo. Dusk began sniffle as he realized he was there all alone until he heard it a low deep growl that was almost primal "HUH.." he screamed as he turned around "w..who's there" he said trembling in fear before dropping to his knees when his eyes met a pair of red green glowing eyes with dark purple smoke eminent off of them into oblivion. "No no no.." dusky repeated as the eyes lunged at him before screaming in pure terror before being awoken in a royal hospital bed and shooting up, there he saw his parents, crystal and the head priest before him two of which where crying over him. Dusk said nothing as he thought to himself about what that monster could have possibly been perhaps a monster trapped inside the heart no that makes no sense. Dusk,was stumped until he thought about what crystal said "..ponies see their destinys.." he was silent even when his parents hugged him along with crystal as he realized that was no monster he had just saw himself.

  After hour of questions and ridicule from both dusk parents and the head priest dusk was set to go home but this was not a good bye see you soon as the priest had thought it'd be best for dusk and crystal to be separated as she had put his life at risk as he was not metal prepared to handle that much magic he absorbed, and if crystals vision was correct she was destined to be a alicorn and she would not have time for "friends" as all her time would be taken by the people her people. No words were shared between the two young ponies only hugs and tears until crystal broke the silence "when I'm  Princess..*sniff*.. I'll come for you..I'll never forget you dusky" dusk sat there wordless as he was still taking this all in not just the fact that he was losing his best and closes friend but he was still confused and frightened by his vision, the two ponies split before crystal gave dusk a kiss on the cheek as dusk was rushed into a carriage and crystal was shuffled into the castle corridors.

The two friends destinations in life solid as stone with their friendship broken.
