Chapters Twilight the Vampony: The Vamponies invade
Prologue - ???’s final entry
I didn’t look back. I didn’t want to look back. Or well maybe I did but, that’s not important. What matters is I did not look back. I had to go, had to leave, had to run.
And so I did, down the streets of Canterlot, in the wet evening this had turned out to be. The cobblestone, marking the city’s roads were wet and slippery. Have to be careful I thought while my eyes were stained on the road rather than what was ahead.
Bad idea. I think I ran for 20 seconds before I hit something. It was big enough to make me fall over and feel dizzy for a while, but small enough for it to not hurt me. I got on my hooves as fast as I could, quickly eyeing the cause of my fall. A small sign with a restaurant’s menu. Of course. They have these everywhere, and their food is not even good. I honestly don’t know why some ponies bother with this peice of-
IGHT!?
Before I could finish whatever I was thinking of, a faint call for my name got me back in the moment. My ears searched for the origin of the sound, but to no avail. I decided to keep on running. Its not worth. She’s not worth it, I kept on repeating to myself.
Where could I run? Why would I run anywhere? Was life even worth it anymore? I hadn’t the foggiest idea how I should answer these questions, or if I should. For now, it seemed like my legs were just carrying me along.
I took a right, then a left, and then a left again. Why? I don’t know. Was I trying to lose her? It might’ve worked but then what? Hide forever? Not really a possibility. I searched around for something useful. I don’t even know what I was looking for. I saw cafes, boutiques, more restaurants and the like. What was I doing at this point?
I passed another building which looked like a small school, with all the playground gear and the big room for teaching. If I had to take a guess it would be the school for normal fillies and colts, earth ponies and Pegasi the like. Unicorns could be going too, but with Princess Celestia’s School For Gifted Unicorns, why would they be wasting time here?
I turned my head straight once again, still looking down occasionally to make sure I wouldn’t slip. I was still running to my surprise. Once I realized that, my body seemed to become aware of the fact as well. I had to stop, take a break.
I breathed. Out and in, and out and in. What if she was still following me? I took a moment to reflect. The rain was deep in my skin, but I didn’t really feel it anymore. I sat down on the sideway, looking up. Skies in every directions. Guess the Pegasi has decided it was time for a long rainy night.
Looking around, it confused me that ponies were outside. How didn’t I see them before, and were they even there? Of course I’m not alone. Why would the universe let me be alone on a day like this?
Multiple ponies were looking at me, some of them recognizing me, but I avoided their gaze. I was still panting. Maybe I didn’t have to run. I might be overreacting...
That’s when I saw her. She stood at the other side of the road, her eyes stained on me. I froze. Time seemed to slow down. Buck this, I gotta run further.
I got up, but before I could run I found myself in a magical aura. I tried to move but to no avail. Oh come on! That’s cheating... I was turned around to look at her. Water rolled down her cheeks, but I was unable to tell if they were tears or rain. I tried to look away but I couldn’t. She had me right where she wanted me.
None of us were saying anything, and I had the feeling that the ponies around had walked away. What should I do? More of importantly, what was she going to do? To be honest, I was scared. She was just standing there. She couldn’t expect me to make the first move... right?
“... If I put you down... w-will you stay? And li-listen?” the words left her mouth but I didn’t know what to answer. She... she betrayed me in the worst fashion. How would I forgive that? She continued, “I don’t expect you t-to forgive me, ju-just...”
It was like she couldn’t finish whatever she was trying to say. I didn’t feel any sympathy but my curiosity got the better of me. “Release me... and I will hear what you have to say.”
I couldn’t tell if she were happy, reliefed or scared. She gently placed me on the ground, but that’s when I realized that the levitation field had dried me off completely. The ground was cold, and the moment I touched it, a shiver went up my spine. Then there was the rain... great stuff. My before dry coat was a he opposite of dry in mere seconds. Damn you Pegasi... I will get you back for this.
“I-I know that you hate me for what I d-did but I swear on my life that it was an accident...” she started, not convincing me the tiniest bit. “You have every right to hate me, but I beg of you, please! I’m so so so so sorry!”
“Oh, you’re sorry?” I asked, the coldness in my voice booming. She nodded quickly with a worried look on her face. “Well then. I guess everything is alright then,” I lied turning around, awaiting her answer.
“R-really?”
I spun around to watch her directly in the eyes as I spoke my next sentence. “Of course not! You expect me to forgive you for what you did?! On behalf that it was an ‘accident’ as you say?! Buck no! Is that reall y what you came out here to say? What you chased me halfway cross the city to say?!” I had reached screaming level in my voice and I saw her back away from me. I snorted as I walked away from her. Only one place to go now.
I made my way towards the bridge that led to Canterlot Castle, once again not looking back. I didn’t feel bad for what I said. She deserved every bit of it and more.
I felt the bridge under my hooves when I heard someone shout. I looked in the direction and saw a pony running towards me on the opposite side. I walked a little faster to meet him when a loud sound originated from beneath my hooves. Just then, I felt the bridge fall down, and me with it. Time itself stopped as I realized what happened.
The noise... it must’ve been an explosion. The bridge went down with me on it and the pony shouting must’ve known about the bridge. I wasn’t afraid of death but in this very moment I felt very afraid.
Time seemed to speed up again as I fell into the dark abyss benath me, never to see the light of day again...

Chapter 1 - Twilight’s first entry
I woke up early in the morning. The birds were already singing and chirping, so I wasn’t too early. I yawned while my eyes looked around the room. It was so crazy that I had almost lived here for a whole year. One whole year! It felt like four months at best, but here I was, three days from my one yearversary (as Pinkie calls it). The room was dark so a pony would have a hard time looking around here.
My eyes had no trouble in the dark though. Quite the opposite actually. One of the benefits, being a Vampony and all. I’ve learned to call them that; benefits. Then there’s the wings, my enhanced strength, and can’t forget my fangs...
I still remember those days where I saw them as monstrosities. At that time I saw myself as a monster. I lived in Canterlot at that time, and I studied under Princess Celestia. I still do but to a less degree. Right now I’m merely writing friendship reports as me and my friends learn new things about each other, and how to become great friends with one another.
My friends... hard to imagine where I’d be without them. They have tought me so much. Mostly about myself. They have given me so much confidence, especially Rainbow Dash. Well, Pinkie Pie helped a lot too. Before I met them, I was too nervous and scared to talk to other ponies. It was mostly due to an incident when I was younger. Since then I had trouble showing up in public, or just showing up at home. I had few places to go because of this.
I was lucky that the Princess found me when she did. She seemed so motherly, and protective of me, even though I had never really met her. Without much trouble, she had basically adopted me as the daughter she never had. I... probably should have mentioned that I lived on the street at the time. Homeless and an orphan, except for the fact that I didn’t live in an orphanage.
After living with the Princess for some time, she offered me an attempt at joining her School For Gifted Unicorns. I think I told her that I wasn’t a unicorn so why bother, and besides, there would be other ponies as well. I would be the outcast. She quickly assured me that this wouldn’t be the case, and that she would personally deal with anypony who would dare to call me a monster.
After some time I finally accepted her offer, but this is where my problem started. I had to pass an entrance exam!
I had limited power at this point, so I wasn’t exactly a powerful magician. I had read about the subject, but never in my life would I have expected that I had to learn it myself.
This entrance exam was apparently all about determination, and will. I just didn’t know that at the time. Before me, a dragon egg was presented. I thought my job was to actually hatch this egg, but I later found out that not even the most powerful unicorn, Starswirl the Bearded had managed such feat. Once I learned this, I was surprised. Starswirl the Bearded was supposed to be the best magician ever! So how was I - a young vampony - able to do something he could not?
Yes. I managed to hatch the dragon egg, and the dragon inside? He stayed by my side ever since, and later became my Number One Assistant. After this, I was swiftly made a student, and was about to study under Princess Celestia herself. And so I did. For about seventeen years of my life. I turned nineteen this year, and got the biggest birthday party ever. Pinkie Pie is the party pony. She makes the wildest parties and that’s saying a lot coming from me since I lived together with the ruler of Equestria!
I let out a sigh. That was so long ago now... I thought to myself. That’s when Spike’s snoring finally managed to bring me back to the present. By the way, Spike is the dragon I hatched from the egg, and the lazy baby dragon is still sleeping in his basket next to my bed.
I stretched my legs and wings and shortly after jumped out of my bed. I saw the light switch but decided to let Spike sleep for now. After all, he is just a baby dragon. I smiled, looking at him, as I made my way down the stairs with minimal sound. Once I reached the library - yes I live in a giant tree, which is also a library - I went on to light a few candles, just so the place looked open.
I looked around the floor to make sure the place was clean and ready for ‘costumers’ or well ‘borrowers’ is perhaps a better name. After the second double check I figured the library was looking good, and I immediately moved on to the books.
I wandered over to the ‘Fantasy’ section. I started at the bottom shelf, and read the title of the books which placement was here. ‘Sleeping Mare’, ‘The Mare and the Beast’, ‘Magic: The Basics’, ‘Snowma-‘.
Wait, Magic: The Basics? What is a book about magic doing in the ‘Fantasy’ section of all places? I thought while I concentrated my magic into lifting the book. I sighed, some borrowers . While I trotted towards the other shelves, I felt something in my stomach. I didn’t worry too much. It was just the usual feeling you get when you’re hungry. The book flew towards the right section, on the right shelf and landed safely. I turned around to continue the reorganization...
Thirty minutes later, and I was done. Turns out there wasn’t too much trouble with the books placements. I turned to look at the watch. 6:56. Spike should come down soon... maybe I should prepare some breakfirst I thought, my stomach giving an affirmative rumble.
As I made my way towards the kitchen, I heard some sounds from the bedroom. Sure enough, Spike was on his way. My gaze fell upon our fridge, and without much thought, I opened the fridge. The smell of meat hit my nostrils but sadly it was just left overs from last week. Damn, didn’t I write hunting on my to-do list? I gently levitated a half chicken out of the fridge. Yes, I eat meat. What else should I eat? Oh, and my friends know this as well. They were a little hesitant at first, mostly Fluttershy, but they came around.
I pulled out a plate while the fridge gently closed. While I was preparing the chicken, Spike entered the kitchen. He looked awful, like if he didn’t sleep at all tonight. Placing the chicken on the plate, I went around the table to see if he was alright.
“Hey Spike! Had a nice sleep?” I asked gently, knowing the answer already.
He looked at me as if I was joking. “Sure... and I have wings...” he answered my question with his usual sarcastic tone. He took a step towards the fridge but I was quick to stop him.
“Oh I have some food here for you!” I showed him the chicken from last week. We have a very strict food policy in the house. I have the upper part of the fridge and Spike gets the lower. It wasn’t because he was running out of food or anything, but I was in a good mood today. “It’s from last week, but I’m sure it’s still good to eat, and there’s enough for the two of us.”
He seemed to light up a little, but I figured he would have to get started on the day before groggy Spike would leave him. “Sure, alright. I’ll set the table,” he said, shortly after grabbing two plates for the both of us.
“Sweet,” I replied as I continued with the bird. There wasn’t too much to e done, only a few feathers here and there. After plucking the chicken, I chose to pull it apart as well. A half for me and a half for Spike, even though Spike never really eats that much. A smile appeared on my face as I levitated the chicken with me, back into the library.
Spike had already settled down at the table, just waiting for me. His eyes were looking eagerly at the food I had “prepared”. I almost thought that he was about to drool. He must’ve been one hungry dragon.
I sat down next to him, placing his part on his plate, while I placed my own on my plate late. “Breakfirst is served!” I announced happily. Spike dove straight down into his chicken, not even thinking about manners. I chuckled silently, as I lifted the wing from the chicken in front of my mouth, taking the first bite.
One hour had passed since breakfirst, and nopony had showed up in the library. Not much to my dismay, as I had just read books up until this point. Spike however was tired of cleaning again and again and again so I let him have a break. He ran off into the small town, probably looking for Rarity. I grinned. One day, you will learn that you can’t win her Spike .
Turning the next page, some light knocking erupted from the door. I gave aslight look up, closing the book, while I trotted towards the door. Just then, another series of knocks. “Yes I’m coming!” I shouted to the impatient pony. “And by the way, it is a public library so you don’t have to-“ I opened the door, “-knock. Oh hi Applejack!”
Applejack smiled, “Well howdy Twilight! Had a good sleep?”
“I can’t complain, thanks for asking. What brings you here? Surely not for a book I imagine?”
She shifted nervously. “Ah’m terribly sorry Twilight, but I got my orders from the highest authority,” Applejack said, right before she tackled me and blinded me with a blindfold. I wanted to fight back, but at the same time; it’s Applejack. Why would she hurt me?
She got me up on my legs and told me I should move forward. I did as she told me, and walked right out of the front door, shortly after hearing Applejack close it. I wanted to say something, but I was unsure about what I should say. The dirt benath my hooves was solid. I must be on the road... but how is she going to take me through the town without anypony noticing?
Apparently it was not hard for her to manage that, as she reassured that it was just a funny game they were playing. Of course I couldn’t see who she was talking to, but nopony seemed to come near us, or I couldn’t hear them at least. Applejack must’ve sounded very convincing.
I was feeling really safe now that she had mentioned that. Applejack wouldn’t lie so this must me a *ahem* “funny” little game.
It went on for what felt like five minutes, and then we came to an abrupt stop. I heard whispering. I was unsure on whose voices it was. Then everything went white as my blindfold got removed. I shielded my eyes with my left wing, and saw a pony stand right in front of me. The pink fur, pink and cotton candy-like tail gave me enough information. I didn’t even need to look at the pony’s face. There was no denying that this was in fact Pinkie Pie herself.
“Hi Twilight!” she greeted me while my eyes adjusted to the light. Around her was four other ponies. Rarity the fashionista, Rainbow Dash the daredevil, Applejack the farm-mare and Fluttershy the animal caretaker. They were all smiling at me, except for Applejack who tried to give me an apologetic grin.
My eyes locked with Pinkie’s. “Hi Pinkie, girls,” I greeted them all. “Something wrong since you had to technically kidnap me so I could get here?”
“Nope not at all! Everything is super duper here! Right gals?” Pinkie answered, as everypony around her agreed. “Or well there is this, insy-binsy tiny thing, that I need your help with. So you most likely know this since you’re Twilight and you know everything, but in exactly three days, you have lived in Ponyville in one year!”
I grinned. “Yes Pinkie I’m very aware. It’s also time for the Summer Sun Celebration in three days, which is way more important-“
“WHAT? NO! Nothing is more important that your one yearversary! Which is why I asked Fluttershy, to go find Rarity so Rarity could find Rainbow Dash, and Rainbow would ask Applejack to go to your house and bring you over here!” the pink party pony explained cheerfully.
“Hang on a minute. Ah was told by Dash that I had to make it look like a kidnapping, not just bring her over... Rainbow Dash?!” Applejack growled while Rainbow Dash laughed too much for her own good.
I was about to tell Applejack that it’s okay, but Rarity was faster. “Well, all is well that ends well. Let’s forget about that sorry business, and head inside.” That’s when I realized where we were. Just outside Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pies workplace and house.
“Yes!” Pinkie replied jumping up and down with excitement. “We gotta plan your one yearversary! I have so so so much to show you! Wanna come in and take a look?” she asked me with a huge grin on her face.
I smiled at her, “of course Pinkie. Lead the way.”
And so she did jumping inside, each of us following her inside.

Chapter 2 - Day Light’s first entry
I was sitting in a dark cave. Placement, Canterlot Mountain. The cave was - as I said - dark. Not that it bothered me. My eyes work best in the dark. It was a small cave, if you could even call it that. Moss occupied the walls and some of the ceiling. The plant life in here was living on its own.
I was reading my writings for the third time today. Everything had to be perfect. I made small adjustments and adds here and there to make sure everything would be just that; perfect.
I had been working on this for too long. Five years, all of them devoted into this one project. It was my destiny. Technically I had only been working on these writings for about a year, but I didn’t waste any time the other four. Training my magical abilities takes time and patience, for which I have both. I feel ready to take down the most powerful unicorn in existence.
But that would be stupid and arrogant. I know when to draw the line. I know when it’s better to run away and think of something better. Never go into a battle you can’t win. That is the number one rule in a war.
Looking at the very start of the parchment, I saw what I need to do first. Truth be told, this one step was the reason for my post pone. ‘GATHER THE REST OF THE VAMPONIES, AND MAKE THEM FOLLOW ME. I WILL BE THEIR LEADER’. It sounded so easy, but I knew they wouldn’t make it easy for me. Even though I’m a vampony myself, they see me as an outcast. I was banned from my own home when I was still young. Once I showed up again they allowed me in, but hey never accepted me. Things were about to change.
I gave a quick glance at the final part of the parchment. ‘KILL PRINCESS CELESTIA’.
I made my way down the mountain’s side. I had made this path myself. My wings were long gone due to a... well that’s another story. Point is, I can’t fly anymore, so I made this pathway to make it easier getting into my “hideout”.
I was wearing some worn out saddlebags, where I kept all my parchments. I wanted to keep them close. Nopony can see these as long as I’m here to prevent them. Which reminds me...
I haven’t introduced myself. My name is Daylight, and I’m a vampony. I’m a powerful sorcerer, which is uncommon in my species. Normally we’re all for brute strength which I’ve trained as well. We vamponies have few weaknesses. No, the sun isn’t one of them. While any form of damage hurts us, the damage is not permanent. We heal quickly unless we’re struck by silver weaponry, or simply, wooden stakes. Burning us is another fetal and quick death but as far as I know, it’s very rare to die like that.
But I’m getting off topic here, let me talk about my appearance. My fur is dark gray, mane and tail sharing the colors black and red. Yeah, name doesn’t really suit me. My eyes are orange-like, and shaped like a bat’s. My ears... look just like a pony’s... again, another story. Usually the looks of them resemble the ones of a bat, just like my eyes.
Enough about myself. I continued down the pathway. The path was steep, making it hard to walk on if you wasn’t used to it. The sun shone down on the mountain’s rocky terrain. There wasn’t many trees up here, since this was at about two thousand meters above sea level. The oxygen was thin, making it harder to breath. Not that I needed oxygen, of course.
I sighed as I reached the bottom of the pathway. It was rather weird, to finally enact your master plan. If I remember correctly, they call it ‘butterflies in your stomach’. Never really had that before. It must be the feeling that this was really it. All the other years, it had just been preparations, and this was the real deal. The worst part? It could all go sideways right now. I had to be smart about this.
After walking some more, I was met by a huge metal door. It looked different than last time. It looked reinforced. Figures. I once went outside, which by the way is against our law. Back then it was a flimsy wooden door, easily opened with enough force. When I returned after my banishment, they had upgraded to a metal door, still rather flimsy though.
Now? It was a huge door made of metal, and if I should take a guess, it’s made of iron. It was at least the size of 10 normal sized ponies in its height. The width were about five meters long. The door had been bolted together by the looks of it, and due to the large bolts, I can only imagine this thing has at least a depth of 1 meter. This was a serious upgrade from the last design. Maybe it was Red who found it too weak and decided to go further.
Red... He is the bane of my existence. Always willing to start a fight, or just cause trouble, and the worst part about him? He is the son of our dear “leader”. I was happy to discover that Red - or Red Moon - hadn’t taken his father’s mantle just yet. His father was always respectful. Except when it comes to his son. He believes anything Red tells him. If I told him about how his son had hurt me without reason, he wouldn’t believe a word I said. That’s how... That’s how I got banished from my own home. Or well... that’s not entirely true. That one... is yet another story.
For the sake of my plan however, I would love it if Red was the new “leader”. If things go south, I will challenge him to a fight, winner gets to rule. It wouldn’t sit right with me, if I had to kill his father, Crescent Moon.
I tried to push the door open, but it didn’t move. Worth a try, I thought. Maybe a strong explosion? Walking away from the door, I speculated about which spell to use. The moment that door goes down, vamponies will know of my presence. As I got a safe distance between me and the door, I spun around, concentrating all my power to my horn. My dark red aura engulfed my horn, just before a powerful beam of magic got unleashed, hitting the door straight in the middle. I looked away, with closed eyes, shortly after hearing a huge explosion behind me.
I opened my eyes, turning my head back at he now disseminated door. A huge chunk of metal had landed to be right of my position. The small patches of grass were burning from the explosion.
I chuckled. I truly am the most powerful vampony alive, and nopony shall stand in my way. I made my way towards the great hole in the mountainside. Watch our Equestria. Daylight is coming for you.

Chapter 3 - Day Light’s second entry
While I was walking through the cave’s entrance, butterflies attacked my stomach again. I’m actually here, I thought, as my eyes spotted light further down the tunnel. I was nearing the first part of our city.
It wasn’t exactly a beautiful sight for they eyes, but it was home. Or well, it was home. The first part of it, Dracuna, had a theme based on the cave. Dark gray huts, made of stone, with small space in them. The huts were carved into the wall, as it would save space. Dracuna in itself was a big room, about ten meters long, twenty five meters wide and three meters tall. If I recall correctly, there was about thirty huts, all ready to house vamponies. No vampony lived here, as it was a reserve, meant for older vamponies if we got overpopulated. It never happened.
I lived here though. My original house was deeper inside the mountain, but I got tired of the stares, and the mocking, so the day I grew old enough to legally move my house, I did. Yes, we have a law, we’re not animals. It felt good to be by myself but... it was a lonely life.
I was halfway through the room when I spotted it. My old home. Coming to a halt, I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic. It was only two, maybe three years of living in that small hole, but then again... it left a mark on me, a bigger mark than I thought. I thought about going inside, just looking at all my stuff from so long ago. One calm moment before the storm.
I felt a deep punch in my own head. It wasn’t physical, but mental. I didn’t have time for this... junk. Gotta stay on the path... my path. I turned my head straight, as I trotted out of the room, not eyeing my house once.
The corridor I was now walking in, led me further into the mountain, but downwards as well. The mountain had limited space, so when the first vamponies decided to live here, they dug down, far away from the surface. Since then we had expanded upwards, making more cities, or well towns, for us to live in.
There wasn’t much to be said about the corridor I was walking in. The walls were rocky, as was the ceiling. The steps leading down were primitive. They were carved from the mountain, so it was still rough, and rock-like. There wasn’t any lights, due to the obvious fact; we have night vision.
Within a few more seconds of walking, I had managed to reach the second town. This was nothing like Dracuna. Before me the great town, Angora, stood in all its glory. This was the typical living quarters for most vamponies, as it had the most houses. The cave Angora was built in is filled with never before seen mushrooms. These were nothing like normal mushrooms found in forests. No, these had the ability to glow. If I recall correctly, it’s called biolumes- no wait... biolusimum? Uh... hm. Oh! It’s bioluminescence! Hard word to remember when it is at least ten years since you’ve read about it. Anyway, these mushrooms glows in the dark, so it really adds a lot to the decor. The houses here were bigger than they were in Dracuna. The were also actually built, instead of carved. It was still made of stone but eh, what could you expect? The cave itself was far bigger than Dracuna, standing at least 8 meters tall, making way for air traffic. The length and width however... let’s just say it was big.
I lived here in Angora before I moved to Dracuna. It was... nice, but I must say; getting out of here was the right call for me.
I stepped into the city, expecting busy, daily life. I found the streets empty, the houses soundless, and there was no one above the air. Needless to say... I was surprised.
I began to think. They wouldn’t go outside, so that’s reassuring. Maybe they heard me as I made my grand entrance, but there’s no way they could evacuate a whole town like Angora in such a small amount of time. No, they must be somewhere else, and there must be a reason for it. But what?
Hm... if they’re not here, they can only be in Vampirish, a fortress for defense, if ponies were to ever know of our existence. But why would they be there? Crescent Moon never let commons go down there, unless it’s an emergency. Like blowing up their door... yeah that’s probably it. But then again, they couldn’t evacuate this fast as I guessed before. Something else must be the cause of this, something li-
That’s when it clicked for me. There was one time, and one time only where the leader of the vamponies would gather everyone in Vampirish. When he chose his successor, in this case, Red Moon. Well, at least they will all be gathered at one place. That’s going to make this a lot easier.
I trotted towards Vampirish, which was through another corridor, much like the last one. It went even further down and made a u-turn. That’s when I began to hear them. Or well, I began to hear him .
I went through the exit of the corridor, spotting every vampony standing in front of some sort of scene. Nobody was guarding the exit, which was fortunate for me. It’d be a lot better to do this silently. I looked Vampirish over. It was mostly a huge building made of stone which went further into the mountain. I had never been inside the building before. Only the most important vamponies live there. It had quite a few details unlike all the other constructions.
I eyed the scene. True enough, Red Moon was standing there together with his father. Everybody knows me, so it would be impossible to just waltz directly to the stage. Or was it? I was going to be seen at some point. Why not make that now?
I ran down to the crowd, coming to a stop right before I hit them. I concentrated my magic. I was going to levitate a line of them away, so I could make a direct road to the scene. It was going to be heavy, but I knew I could manage. With a grunt, I lifted a whole line of vamponies in the air, quickly placing them all behind me. The moment I did that, everyone looked me in the eyes, as did Red.
I wasn’t nervous. They wouldn’t try to attack me. I would soon be protected by our most ancient law; challenging.
Nobody said anything, as I slowly made my way towards Red on the scene. I got many stares on the way, but I didn’t care for them. I slowly recharged my magic. Not that I would need all of it, but it would be a good back-up. By the way, did I mention that this was a fight to the death?
“Red Moon... it has been too long,” I said, finally standing in front of the scene. I jumped up on the scene, looking directly at him. He seemed shocked at first, but that expression was gone as fast as it appeared.
“Ah... Daylight. Wonderful of you to join us today,” he replied with a welcoming tone. I saw right through it. “Although... I don’t recall inviting you today.”
There it was. “Well, truth be told...” I started, while I walked closer. “I’m not here for your ceremony,” I finished, standing right in front of him. His dark red fur stood on end. He looks nice ready to kill.
“Then what, pray tell, are you here for?” he asked “confused”. Oh boy, I had been waiting for this for a long time.
I made a swift motion across my mane, feeling a small round tool resting there, and I smiled. “Red Mood, Leader of the Vamponies. I challenge you to a duel... to the death.” I bowed traditionally. Red Moon was many things, but weak was not one of them. My job was simple though. Avoid hoof to hoof combat.
It looked like he wanted to laugh. Then his expression darkened. He knew what I wanted. “So... you finally come to die,” he began trotting around me like a shark circling its prey. “You’ve always been a pain in my rump,” he came to a stop. “Let me end your suffering, boy!”
Suddenly, he jumped at me, trying to bite my neck. I was taken by surprise. He had me pinned against the ground, while he tried hitting me with his hooves. I struggled to get him off, wiggling from side to side, evading his hooves. He grunted, as he placed a hoof on my throat to keep me from moving my head. Then he raised his other hoof, ready to cause huge pain to my head. I tried to focus my magic before he could hit me. Then his hoof came down. I felt air hit me, but his hoof never came. I held it in my aura. I smiled at his attempts at escaping, shortly after hurling him through the air.
I breathed, getting up on all four hooves. I spun around, looking for Red, but he was gone. Panting, I kept looking around. Then I felt a sharp pain in my barrel. Turning around, I saw him biting me. Of course... he must’ve been flying. I sent a beam of magic at his flank, which was a successful hit. It made him fly backwards, with some of my skin in his mouth. I wanted to scream due to the pain, but I kept my mouth shut.
He was up and ready faster than I expected. He ran towards me, ready for another attack, but he never got the chance. He was lifted into the air by my magic. He struggled a lot, but eventually found it was pointless. He hadn’t given up... his expression said otherwise.
“So you finally managed to beat me... magic sure is handy for you huh?” he said, a smirk plastered on his face. “You know... I would say you win, but that would be a lie, wouldn’t it? As I recall, you said “to the death”. Sorry to say but I’m still very much alive.”
“For now,” I said grinning. Then the small object in my mane got enveloped in my magical aura. I lifted it out slowly. When Red realized what it was, his expression changed from smug, to fearful. The object was indeed a wooden stake, one of the vampony killers. Up until this point, the crowd had been unrealistically silent. Gasps and murmurs erupted, as they all spotted the stake.
“Funny thing... to have life and death in your own hooves,” i said, bringing the stake closer to the defenseless vampony. “You, are only the first obstacle in my way.”
The stake was right next to his neck. One thought, and Red Moon will be no more. He eyed me, opening his mouth, “... go to Hell”
“You first pal,” I replied, thrusting the wooden stake forwards. I let Red Moon out of my magic, but the dead body just fell to the floor. Silence.
I turned around slowly, looking at the crowd. There was mixed reactions, most of them disgusted. I walked down to them. “I’m sorry you had to see that everyone,” I started, while I was walking among them. “Especially the young ones. But I’m afraid it was necessary.”
They didn’t say anything, so I decided to continue. “We, have a mission. I... have a mission. For too long have we been hiding in a mountain, for too long have we been afraid of the Princess’ wrath! It’s been nine hundred years since our failure, but today... today we will be victorious! We shall invade them! We shall torture, and murder them! This is a war they cannot win! My dear vamponies... within this week, the ponies will fall.”

This chapter was a little hard to write. I had to get Daylight just right. Originally, this was gonna be a part of chapter 2, but I decided to make it separate.

Chapter 4 - ...’s first entry
Hello. My name is... well, umm... I actually don’t know. To be specific, I don’t remember my name. It’s a funny feeling actually, the feeling of not remembering something you definitely should. Your very own name... A-anyway doesn’t matter. It’s just a name right? Who needs that. Just forget about my name, and allow me to introduce myself!.. without the name of course.
I am pretty different from other ponies you see. The bat-like wings, eyes and ears tells me that. Oh and fangs, can’t forget about the fangs. I don’t really know what I’m called, but the ponies called me monster last time I visited them, so maybe that’s what I am. I should read more about monsters, maybe I could find my family? Oops, getting off track here. Back to my appearance.
My fur is dark blue, and kinda dirty now that I think about it. I should take a ba- wait never mind. Um, my mane and tail is blue as well, however it’s darker than my fur. And then there’s this weird pointy thingy going out my head. It shares the same color as my fur, and I believe I’ve once heard ponies call them ‘horns’. Did I already mention my wings? Oh I did, well hm, th-they are kinda blackish, which differs from all my other colors weirdly enough. Then there’s my cutie mark... I uhh don’t have one. Guess that a part of my species.
Have I explained too much about myself now? No I don’t believe so, maybe just too much about how I look? Perhaps... perhaps I know just the thing!
Where I live! I’ve found this neat little cave, hidden behind a waterfall. That’s where I live, have all my stuff, and hide when pony guards are looking for me. It’s really convenient actually. Its location is just beneath Canterlot Castle, so I have a direct way into their pony town! That’s were I got most of my stuff.
You might be wondering, how can I read, how can I write or how can I talk. That’s due to books! Lots and lots of books. I “rent” them in the Canterlot library, and from the first ones I got, I just kinda learned myself how to do it all. Some things were harder to understand though. Magic for example! All about concentration and patience. Guess what? I ain’t got neither! That’s usually something you get tought by friends, or family or...
I sighed. I lived alone my entire life, not even with one friend. Raised myself, if that’s even possible to claim. With this much loneliness, I should’ve gone crazy. That’s what I’ve been reading in my books. Every history I’ve read, the “bad guy” always needs a friend or someone to be with. Seeing as I’ve never had that, why am I still the “good guy”, if that’s who I am.
Who I am... Who am I? Who is anyone? Are we all just small, yet sentient, balls of flesh, waiting to die? What’s the purpose with life? We live everyday, caring on with our daily routines, but to what purpose? What’s the bigger picture? And more importantly, what’s my purpose?..

O-oh sorry, I got a little too real there. Just scratch that last part, it’s not something you need to think about. Anyway, I was still sitting in my small little home, reading one of my favorite novels, ‘The Lion, the Mare-Witch, and the Wardrobe’. It just feels so real, like if I’m actually there. I really do love this... like I previously mentioned.
I let out a yawn, slowly glancing at my grandfather clock. 8:34 PM. It’s getting late, I should probably rest. Tomorrow is a special day after all. I did mention that right? Wait a minute... gasp I didn’t! I could’ve sworn-
Doesn’t matter. Everything is fine. I’ll just do it now. Tomorrow, is my twentieth birthday! Everyone I know is coming, which is me, and... well, me! It’s so exciting, I-I don’t even think that I would be able to sleep tonight! But to be reasonable, I should sleep. It’s an important part of my health, that I sleep in a pattern. So says my book on Wellness and Health! I’ve read it too many times because, you know, you never know when something bad could happen.
I closed the novel on my desk, and patted a few times. I sniffed. The smell of books is so enlightening. I felt laziness take control of me, as I unfolded my wings to fly to bed. Many thoughts crossed my head on the way there, some jokes as well. Hey don’t look at me like that, you gotta talk to someone, and when you’re the only one around, I might as well.
I landed in the bed, feeling the soft material against my hooves. A yawn escaped me once again, right before I slumped to the pillow. One final thought escaped my lips before I went on to the sleeping world.
“I can’t wait to see what I have planned tomorrow...”

Chapter 5 - Twilight’s second entry
Two days has passed since I was “kidnapped” by Applejack. That means tomorrow, Pinkie is going to throw me he biggest, wildest, and most super-duper-ristic party ever. Her words, not mine.
Pinkie had explained to me and the others how the party was going down, those two days ago. She seemed to have everything planned, and she even gave me a checklist! I wouldn’t even be surprised at this point if she had some sort of secret party planning place she uses to... plan her parties.
I did mention it to her- about how organized the party was, not the party planning thing. She simply answered, that it was for me, since it was my party. She told me that she knew how I loved organized things, so she made the party as organized as a party can be. I thanked her of course, but reminded her that she didn’t have to think that much about me. Then she went on a rant, about how important it is to think about friends, which amused me greatly. Pinkie sure is one of the best friends you can ask for.
The sound of an owl hooting stopped me from thinking. My eyes gazed out through the open window. The streets in Ponyville laid bare, as the moon made its entrance on the night sky. Since the nighttime was approaching, I concluded ponies had retired to their homes, so they could sleep. That made a yawn escape my throat.
That’s probably not such a bad idea...
I trotted towards the open window, reaching out with my hoof to close it. The cold metal handle made my hoof shiver, as I silently pulled the window back towards the house. I channeled a spell through my horn, which locked the door and the windows. I levitated the candles I had lit, closer to me and with a single blow, the fire went out.
Turning, I trotted up the stairs, without making noise. Standing in front of the door, I let my magic engulf the door handle. The door opened slowly, as I wouldn’t want Spike to wake up due to the door’s usual creaking. I wandered into the room once the door left a big enough gap for me. Closing the door, I spotted Spike in his basket, placed right next to my bed. His light snoring only succeeded in making him even cuter than he already was... Better not tell Spike I thought that.
I unfurled my wings, made a single flap or two, and landed gracefully in my bed. I tucked myself in the quilt presented on said bed, and placed my head on the pillow. Goodnight Spike... was my last thought before I entered the land of dreams.
“You never loved me!” I heard a stallion shout with all his might. I didn’t recognize the voice, but yet it sounded so familiar. Whoever shouted must’ve been very upset however. “Not once! You just keep feeding me with your lies!”
I tried to track down the origin of the voice, but everything around me was dark. Blackish fog cut my vision down to one meter in front of me. It wasn’t the usual fog, this was much more dense, almost unrealistic. Is this even real?
“STOP LYING TO ME!” the same voice shouted at the top of his lungs. It was like he was talking to somepony. But who? My eyes gazed around the fog, frantic to find somepony, or something . The futile effort made me run forwards into the fog, not even thinking about any consequences.
I began panting, but I didn’t stop. This could be serious, or at least it sounded so. Even if it turned out to be nothing, my curiosity had already got the better of me. I needed to know what was going on.
“I-I’m not sorry... y-you deserve this. E-every bit of it a-and more,” the voice seemed to have calmed down, but I could only shiver at the words. Not sorry? Deserve this? Oh my... did he... did he hurt whoever he’s speaking with? Or something worse?
I realized that I had stopped running, but that realization died quickly as the fog began to reveal a straight path in front of me. Startled by this, I took a step back. My gaze fell on the path in front of me, tempting me to go down this path. I looked around me to make sure there was nothing else to go by. Sighing in defeat, I took my first step forwards, down the set path. I continued carefully, eyeing my surroundings, but got reminded by the fog that I wouldn’t be seeing anything soon.
When nothing happened to me after a few minutes, I started to calm down. Maybe there wasn’t anything to worry about. Yeah, I might just be overreacting, and all this fog is messing with my brain. The path stretched on though, making no turns whatsoever. Even if this is just messing with my brain, how did I get here? What happened? I was in Golden Oak Library just a before all this mess...
A small sob brought a stop to my thoughts. The mist had stopped making a pathway for me, and so I stopped walking as well. The sob turned to crying, and by the sound of it, it was a stallion crying. The same stallion that shouted?
Against my better judgement, I took another step forward, into the fog. The world immediately shifted around me. The fog died out, the ground revealed, but my eyes fell upon something much weirder. A shadowy figure, sitting in front of another figure just like it. Actually... no that’s not right. The figure standing resembled another pony, looking just like any normal pony would. The figure laying on the ground was larger, with thinner legs and different muzzle.
I wanted to go closer, I wanted to talk to them, but I couldn’t find the courage. My mind was racing. Who and what are they? Why is this happening? Are they dangerous? Questions like these, is what I thought of again and again, while I was just too scared to walk toward the figures.
That’s when I noticed the standing figure made a gesture towards the other one on the ground. I couldn’t tell what the gesture meant, but shortly after he made it, the figure laying on the ground disappeared. Then the other figure turned around. His eyes were pure white, and filled with hatred. I froze. The figure started running towards me. Has he seen me? I thought, afraid of what was gonna happen next. The figure grunted as he leaped towards me. Oh yeah, he definitely saw me. I entered a defensive stance, or at least I tried to. Just as the figure would be colliding with me, a booming voice shouted from above.
“ENOUGH!” the voice sounded so familiar but I couldn’t quite place it. Looking around me I saw the environment change before my eyes. The figure that had lunged itself towards me, dissolved into nothing, and everything around me turned from the usual brown dirty ground, to a darker blue. I saw stars everywhere I looked, and stardust in patterns. It felt so familiar, like I had seen this before. I looked just like the... the night sky...
Oh my gosh this is a dream! Of course it’s a dream. But if it’s just a dream, then who shouted-
I got interrupted by the sudden appearance of a large white portaly thing. Sparks flew out of the portal, to the left and right. Then, a figure entered through the portal and I couldn’t help but slap my own face. It was Luna, Princess of the Night. Of course she would be here, as she looks over the dream realm. I bowed before her.
“We can assure thou, Twilight Sparkle, that there is no need to bow before us. This is dream thy dream,” the Princess of the Night assured me, smiling to me.
“I can always show some appreciation, right?” I let out a nervous laugh, looking the Alicorn straight in the eyes. Princess Luna merely giggled at me. Then I frowned thinking back to the figures. I could’ve sworn I knew the figures... maybe if I had more time with the figures. Maybe I should address Princess Luna about them.
“Princess, did you by any chance see the... thing that attacked me? It looked like something I should recognize, but I just...” I couldn’t get myself to finish, because I didn’t know what else to say. It all seemed so weird.
Princess Luna’s expression didn’t budge. “Worry not about what thou see in dreams Twilight Spakle, it cannot hurt thee. We will let you sleep once again, with nice dreams, not nightmares.”
I wasn’t so accepting. “Please Princess, this feels weird. If you know anything, can you tell me?”
Luna frowned at me. I took a step back, thinking I’d gone too far. “Twilight Sparkle, thou are dreaming and that is it. This was nothing but a nightmare, and thou are not in any form of danger.” She smiled at me again. “We would be more than delighted to give thee pleasant dreams for the night.”
Before I could object, Princess Luna’s horn lit with her dark blue aura, as white magic escaped her horn. Closing my eyes, I blocked the light with my wings. I let out a final grunt as the magic disappeared, and Princess Luna with it.
You are not in any form of danger... I rephrased in my head. I didn’t claim I was, did I? Then why reassure me? As my mind raced on, I dreamed once again, this time about books and more books. Well, at least Princess Luna did give me a nice dream.
The birds sang and chirped, waking me up from my slumber. Turning around, a groan escaped me. I still remembered the “dream” where Princess Luna appeared and talked to me. I know Princess Luna is the Princess of the Night, and I know she knows a lot about dreams, but I couldn’t help but think that something about how she acted felt weird, almost forced.
A slowly got out of bed, still thinking about the Princess’ behavior, and I walked towards the mirror in my room. Looking at he reflection, I saw how my hair looked ridiculous. I quickly levitated a comb over, and began combing my hair. It didn’t take long before it looked like its usual, and likable self.
When I turned around, I saw Spike had left his basket. I briefly wondered why, but remembered what day it was. Of course! One yearversary! Spike is off, helping Pinkie and the others prepare the party. So said the checklist I got from Pinkie Pie. Which reminds me... with the final thought, I trotted towards my drawer, opening the first drawer. Inside, I saw the checklist Pinkie gave me the other day. I smiled at the thought, and levitated the peice of parchment out of the drawer, closing it shortly after. I began to read the checklist, while I levitated a quill and ink near me, in case I had to check something off.
Waking up
I giggled a little at Pinkie’s silliness, but checked it off nonetheless. The rest on the list hadn’t happened yet though.

Eat cake! Lots of cake!
Muffins! Muffins!

I mentally added ‘Double check checklist’, just in case.
Turning towards the door that led downstairs, I began walking towards it, with the checklist floating beside me. As I walked down the stairs, I noticed how clean the library was. I couldn’t help but smile. That’s my baby dragon I thought as I reached the bottom of the stairs.
I took a quick glance at the clock. 9:21 AM. If what Pinkie told me two days ago, which it definitely is, then the party should start soon. Actually, it’s nine more minutes before it starts. I grinned. This was gonna be a nice party. I should let Pinkie know that I don’t need all this. I like being their friend, without having them do stuff for me , at the last thought, I got reminded about an incident, which happened in the beginning of my time here in Ponyville. Princess Celestia thought it would be a nice idea to invite me to The Grand Galloping Gala, and I agreed, but then she sent me a ‘plus one’ ticket too. All of my friends wanted the extra ticket, but they all had good reasons, so I couldn’t just give it away. It all ended with them doing stuff for me, so I would pick them, but it just made it worse for me. Then after talking to them about it, I sent the tickets back to the Princess, with a letter explaining why. Then, almost immediately, we all received a ticket including Spike. Turns out the Gala isn’t that fun though...
Just within my thinking, five minutes had already passed. I wandered towards my door, and walked outside to what would most likely be the biggest party in my life.
The party was in full swing and everypony were enjoying themselves. Pinkie had really outdone herself this time. I was standing outside Sugarcube Corner, where the party was held. Looking out on all the dancing ponies, I brought up the checklist and checked off ‘Dance Party!’. Only one thing left to check off now. Two if you count my addition.
I made my way through the crowd of ponies. All my friends were standing together behind all of these dancing ponies, so I had to push a little to some of them. Finally walking up beside them, Pinkie noticed my presence immediately.
“Hiya Twilight! Do you like the da-da-da-dance party?” she asked me, sounding like a raper as she said the word ‘dance’. I smiled at her and nodded. Pinkie sure do have a talent for this sorta thing. Looking around my group of friends, I couldn’t help but find one missing.
“Wait, where’s Spike?” I asked my friends, with worry in my voice. They shook their heads murmuring answers like ‘Haven’t seen him’ or ‘I don’t know’. I didn’t like it, not one bit. As I was about to ask another question about him, a shriek stopped me.
“T-TWILIGHT!” the voice shouted. I looked towards the direction from where the voice had shouted, and saw who it belonged to. A small purple dragon, running straight in my directions. Spike! He was holding something in his claw, something that looked like a scroll...
I ran towards him, as did my friends. Everypony stopped dancing when they heard Spike’s cry for Twilight, and looked at the baby dragon with interest. When I finally got to him he was panting, hard.
“Twilight... letter... The Princess.... urgent!” he managed to get out between his breaths. He presented the scroll for me which was from the Princess apparently. As I read the first sentence I already sensed something was wrong. There was no ‘My faithful student’ or ‘Dear Twilight’. It was just straight to the case. I read the second sentence and froze.
After a few moments, Applejack asked me what the scroll said. I looked her straight in the eyes, and so I did with all my friends. They all seemed to notice how I froze, reading the letter.
Looking at the scroll again I began to read aloud. “Don’t panic, or do something drastic. Canterlot has fallen...”

Sorry for the longer wait. I’ve been relaxing a bit, since I am on vacation, and so I’ve had time to think about the story. Let’s just say that I know how I want it to go now.
As for the grammar and stuff like that... I have decided to ignore it. This is my first decent story, and I’m not native English, so there’s bound to be grammar mistakes here and there. I will try to improve along the way, but I will not feel bad about how I write anymore. Thanks to all of you, who are following along in the story. It makes me very happy to know that this story isn’t completely dead.

Chapter 6 - ...’s second entry
I woke up later than I expected. It might’ve been due to what happened yesterday. I did party a lot, but to be fair, how couldn’t I? It was the one day in my life where I felt appreciated. It really does sound lonely when you think about it... the only one caring about you is the you.
The birthday was great though. I got some good gifts, some good laughs, and apparently, I had planned a raid on a small village far from here. It sure was fun... until a crazy unicorn chased me out of their city. She was strong! Her teal magic almost caught me, which would be a bad experience for me if she happened to capture me. Oh and by the way, when I say “raid” I mean visit. Raid just sounds cooler right? Visit is so dull and boring, in fact, it might be so boring that I die just out of boredom. That’s an exaggeration by the way.
Their city, or should I say town, was really nice though. They all seemed so happy and friendly, so naturally I wanted to introduce myself. The only problem though, was the fact that they ran away the moment they saw me, and that’s the moment that crazy pink unicorn chased me out of town. Guess I’m staying friendless then!
Sigh the worst thing about my birthday though, is the fact that I don’t even know if it’s my real birthday. As I said, I just woke up when I was a little colt, right outside this little cave. I didn’t know a thing. My name, how I got there, where my parents was... my birthday.
I-it’s no biggie though. I took care of myself, just like I said, and I lived a good, happy life with all my friends and family. Oh wait, no I didn’t. Uh... I spend my time alone, but at least I had myself, which is better than some.
I looked at my grandfather clock. 2:35 PM. I better get going , I thought as I put some old, dirty saddlebags on. Walking towards the opening of my home, I thought about my approach. I was going to Canterlot, not to steal as I usually do, but to maybe try and talk to some ponies... perhaps. They weren’t exacly the friendliest ponies in the world, but then again, what do I know.
I opened the door, which didn’t even fit the entrance, and walked outside, closing the door shortly after. Not wanting to waste time, I unfurled my wings and flew upwards. My destination was Canterlot, but this was sadly not a friendly visit. My saddlebag was exacly... new, so I was in the market for a new one. Unfortunately, ponies won’t sell me anything, so I always had to steal. I didn’t really enjoy it, but I needed it.
The mountain Canterlot was built upon was a sight. I always stopped to take a look at it, no matter how many times I had seen it. This time was no exception. As I hovered in the air, about fifty meters away from the city, I could see the whole mountain. It had a river running down from somewhere near the top, presumably running from all the melting snow on the top. This river ran down the mountain’s side, and finally ended with the huge waterfall, that hid my home from any pass-byers.
Then there was the cliffs on the mountain, or just the rocky terrain the mountain had. Yes, I know that every mountain has rocky, or at least some stoneish terrain, but this was the mountain, which means it’s a lot more special than some other little mountain.
Oh yeah, can’t forget the wildlife. The birds in this mountain was something else. There was eagles, vultures, bats, normal pigeons, and-
Wait bats?!
Sure enough, there was some bat like creatures in the sky. They didn’t look like the bats I’d seen in my books, but they resembled them. The wings matched at least, so what else could it-
... No way...
There was no way in the name of whatevergodsnameis, that this is what I think it is. No I refuse to believe it. I’ve searched for so many years, researched for longer, so no! They don’t exist! It’s a figment if you imagination... yes just my imagination.
But they were getting closer. I hadn’t moved a muscle since I saw them. Well, I had been flapping my wings but that’s not the point. Whatever these things are, if they even exist, they were still advancing towards the city. I spotted them carry someone, or was it somepony ?
I was nervous, but at the same time excited. Maybe if they were real... I could talk to them? Find my parents, my family and get friends? That... that would be a dream come true. Too good to be true actually.
As they began to land in the city, I heard screams of terror erupting from the city’s inhabitants. I had to make my choices quickly, or else they might flee like I did the first time I was here.
My curiosity got the better of me. I had to know more, and I was willing to learn more. My hovering turned to flight. I was flying faster than I had ever done before, and I’ve flown fast in my life. Guards aren’t exacly pushovers. I was headed for the same part of the city they had landed in. They might still be there.
As I made it to my destination, I saw the pony they had been carrying, walk towards the castle with two, of whatever I am, walking closely behind him. My eyes darted around, spotting several more of them around he city. I felt a wide smile spread on my face, as I dived towards the ground immediately.
Landing was a bit rough, but can you blame me? After 20 damn years, I finally had the chance to talk with my own species. Find out what I am! I looked around the place I had landed in, already spotting some of my species walking down the now empty street. I was about to say something when a pony suddenly ran from behind a sign. It was a pink mare with a light blue mane and tail. I didn’t recognize her.
She ran in my direction, but she didn’t get far. While I had been focusing on her, the two creatures I saw, had turned around and rammed into the mare. I opened my mouth in shock. Why would they do that to an innocent mare? However, what happened next terrified me even more. They had the helpless mare, pinned to the ground, and just a second later the creature which had her pinned, hit down with its huge fangs. I looked away, not wanting to see what happened next. This couldn’t be my species right! I’ve never been violent, but then again, I’ve lived alone. I was unsure at this point if this is what I wanted to be.
It sounded like the creature was done with the mare. I slowly turned around to look at the crime it had committed. As soon as I saw the mare covered in blood, I looked away from the now dead mare. Instead, my gaze fell on the two now smiling creatures, the one who killed the poor mare, showing bloody teeth.
“That was sooo great!” said the creature who killed, and maybe ate, the mare. It was a stallion, or well it was that gender. His voice was deep and raspy. “Day Light sure is a weird fella, but if this is the main course while he’s our leader, then I won’t complain.”
His partner grinned. “Yeah, me neither,” said he partner, obviously a mare or whatever. She had a voice much like any normal pony mare had, although it was a little hoarse. Then she frowned. “But seriously, the next one is mine.”
“If we find a next one. According to Day Light, they would probably evacuate the city really fast,” the stallion replied, as he turned around. I felt my body freeze to ice the moment his eyes met mine. His frown turned into a confused expression, as he tilted his head slightly to the right. “And who might you be?”
I couldn’t answer, even if I wanted to. The silence between was short as the mare confronted me.
“He asked you a question, and trust me, when Bloody Fang wants something he gets it, and right now he wants an answer from you! So speak up pipsqueak!”
Bloody Fang? Oh right you are . My eyes darted between the two creatures in front of me. I tried to make a nervous smile. “I-I don’t know... I’ve never known who I am,” I answered in truth. They looked at each other with raised eyebrows, then back at me. They looked... sympathetic?
“You... don’t know who you are?” Bloody Famg asked me, taking a step closer. His partner followed up on his question shortly after.
“And you’ve never known?”
I had a hard time finding my words. I didn’t know what to say! They genuinely asked me about... well me! Nopony has ever done that before, and just a minute ago the mare creature was literally threatening me. Then again, they’re not ponies.
“Right. I’ve lived alone in a little cave behind a waterfall,” I provided, gesturing towards the waterfall, even though it wasn’t visible from here. “I learned how to take care of myself, but I’ve always been alone.”
There was silence. They just looked at me with saddened expressions, leaving me feeling like I had said something wrong. Bloody Fang decided to end the silence.
“We’re sorry to hear that, but if you’re from the outside world, Day Light might wanna have a word with you.”
Day Light? Who’s Day Light? They said the name earlier, but I didn’t think too much about it. I was about to ask them about this ‘Day Light’ when a loud noise erupted from the city’s entrance. It sounded like a horn.
Bloody Fang looked into the sky, as the sound died down. Shortly after, the same sound of a horn hit my ears once again. Blood Fang’s partner wasted no time however. She whispered something unbearable to Bloody Fang, who’s gaze fell directly on me. I wanted to cower backwards, but something told me this wasn’t something to fear.
After the partner was done whispering, she took off, flying towards the castle. Before I had any time to do something, Bloody Fang grabbed my hoof. He didn’t pull me however.
“We will find out who you are later my friend,” the word ‘friend’ filled my heart with something warm, a feeling I’ve never felt before. “But right now, we need to go to the castle. Day Light told us about this annoying noice, and he said that we would be needed in the castle. Come with us!”
He didn’t wait for an answer. I was pulled upwards, which forced me to unfurl my wings and fly. Bloody Fang flew ahead of me, prompting me to follow. I don’t know if I wanted to, but I found myself following him without hesitation. As we flew towards Canterlot Castle, I couldn’t help but wonder who this ‘Day Light’ was. I had a feeling I would meet him soon enough.
