Hello my name is azrael, but others know me as the angel of darkness but I also go by many names, the Soul Taker, Demon of the Night, shadow shifter, and many more. And this is a story of how I met my best friend, how I met my most hated enemy and made a truce, how I made an ally which was once my greatest threat I have ever known, and once fought in a battle of the century, this is a story of how LIFE met DEATH.
It all started with me when I had risen from darkness. It was pitch black I couldn’t see anything, not even myself, but soon the darkness did not last long. It began to slowly fade away and progressively turn to a pure white light. That’s when I once again tried to see myself. But all I could see was my paws.
I looked around trying to find a mirror or anything else I could see my reflection in. I thought inside my head “I wish I could see myself.” To my surprise a mirror appeared in front of me out of thin air. It startled me and made me think about how this happened and why my thought had just became reality. That didn’t bother me for long when I focused back into the realm of confusion seeing the full body mirror in front of me.
I could clearly see myself in the mirror making me gasp out in shock and horror. Instead of having flesh there was black fur. My whole form was covered head to toe in this black coat along with white spots dotting across my naked form on my cheeks, paws, and chest. Wait a minute. My hand slowly came to my eyesight and I started to tremble looking at it. There wasn’t a hand there anymore. There was a paw with long sharp claws coming out of the tips of my fingers.
Closing my eyes I took a few long deep breaths to calm myself down. Several seconds passed after finally calming myself down along with the trembling fading away as I open my eyes back up. “Come on get it together. You can’t start freaking out.” I told myself tightening my hands into a fist and looked back up at my figure.
A few more things I had noticed was that I acquainted long pointed ears on the top of my head that was pointed along with deep pools of blue and green staring right back at me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of them for the longest of times because I had never seen anything like this before. Along with my whole self as it is I mean. I couldn’t really tell but I was the exact same height I was before. Even my build was the same. I was only a couple inches below 6’ and was skinny but also had a slightly muscled build. It was more tone than pure muscle like my brother.
Though the color of my eyes were the least of my problems, I was more concerned of how I was going to get out of here. I started to pace around in a circle for a few minutes and came to a conlusion. I should just walk around and try to find a way out of this place. Before I went to look for an exit out of this hell hole I looked down at myself again and remembered I was completely naked making me start to freak out but remind myself that I’m all alone here. I shake my head at my stupidity and I recall when I had made the mirror appear. Maybe I can do the same thing but have clothes appear.
Thinking this might work I try to clear my mind and think what I really wanted. “I wish I had clothes.” And just like how the mirror had done, it worked, the clothes I was thinking appeared right in front of me, it was a white shirt, a hoodie with the hood and arms being black and the rest of the hoodie being white. Gray pants and shoes also appeared along with black boxer briefs.
I first started with the underwear and the pants slipping them through the holes and buttoning and zipping the pants. The shirt was next and finally the hoodie. I threw the hoodie around my shoulders and pushed my arms through the sleeves with my paws coming out the other end blending in with the color of the sleeves. Once I put all of that on I looked down to the ground at the shoes then my paws keeping me balanced and thought “I don’t think I need shoes anymore. I’m an animal and animals don’t wear shoes... they don’t wear clothes either but meh. I think I need another mirror.” I think as another full body mirror appears a foot away.
I looked at my now clothed body and nod my head in agreement with my choice seeing the colors matching well with one another. I look at my shoes again and just shrugged and left them there leaving them behind as I trot off trying to find a way out of the neverending space that I find myself trapped in.
I walked for what seemed lik hours that turned into days on end. My legs were aching, the scenery around me had not once changed. It seemed like there wasn’t an exit to this place and I thought I was never gonna get out of this forsaken place that seemed to have no end. There was only white, nothing more nothing less. “If only I can find a way out of this place.” I thought to myself and as I thought that I remembered what happens when I focus on something, they become real. I stopped myself and waited for something to happen. Anything, anything at all! But nothing happened nor appeared. So I decided I was gonna give up, besides what’s the point of trying to search for something that might not even be there.
Just when I was about to lose all hope, something black appeared in front of me. It was a door, a door that looked ancient, very ancient. It seemed to be chipped wood along with being rotten. I noticed that the doorknob was small and engraved with strange symbols I couldn’t pinpoint. My hope had went back to its original criteria and I walked up to the door and put my paw on the middle of the door. It felt cold and something was very odd, like this door was dark and very evil. Just the presence alone sent shivers up my spine. Sadly it was my only way out, so I sighed and begrudgingly started to turn the knob and open the door. It creaked as I pushed the door slowly inward completely before walking through.
Once I stepped through the door I couldn’t see anything it was cold and was very dark. Exactly how the door was. Maybe its just another vast amount of empty space. After several seconds of waiting in the eerily suspensful abyss trees came into view. It was hard to tell since something was blinding me. Most likely the sun if there are trees. Everything I saw was blurry and hazy for some strange reason. My eyes focused in and my vision became clear again and I was right, they were trees.
There was a light tap on the op of my head and whatever had hit me fell to the ground and rolled a few feet away. It was an apple that stopped rolling and laid there on its side. After looking up I find out that these are apple trees. I turned my head in all directions but found nothing but apple trees for some apparent reason. My eyes fell upon the apple that had assaulted me. A low growl sounded out making my ears perk up as I crane my head to look for the source of the sound.
After several seconds the growl goes off again even louder than before right below me making my head jerk down and see nothing there. An eyebrow raises as the growl comes again. I shake my head at my stupidity seeing it was just my stomach growling. I was hungry. Really hungry. I retracted my claws that I hadn’t noticed came unsheathed the first time the I heard my stomach. I looked back down at the apple and picked it up and took a large bite out of the red delicious fruit making me moan and start to scarf the rest of the apple down.
A large belch escaped my mouth making me chuchkle afterwards and I threw the core of the apple aside. Now for the next thing on my list. To find out where I am. Now the only problem is, where do I exit this maze of apples. Well better start searching then if I’m hoping to even remotely find a way out.
So I start to stride through the orchard of wood and apples looking for any kind of sign of someone being here recently or even just a small shelter I can stay in for a while. This orchard oddly enough seems to be spaced out correctly enough. So that would mean someone had planted these for a reason and that reason would to pick the apples. Therefore someone has to live close by right?
I’m totally gonna get lost. After trekking through this dreaded place I surprisingly come across a huge red barn. so I ran over to it on all fours as fast as I could,once I got to the barn door I almost got off of all four’s but then the door opened and someone walked out, I was startled and concerned for who it was, but once they stepped out it wasn’t a person at all but another animal such as myself, not a fox, but a pony.
A pony just walked out of the barn it had blonde messy mane and orange skin with a hat on it’s head,I was confused because I don’t think animals wear hats,but what was stranger was that the pony had a marking of three apples on it’s left hip,I was gonna speak but I didn’t think I still could,so I just stood there,and I was shocked because the pony not only had a hat and a strange marking but the pony spoke to me “now what are you doing out here little fella?” she said with concern in her voice “and why are you wearing clothes,who would put clothes on an animal?” she said still concerned “here come inside and i’ll take those clothes off of ya” she said while going back in the barn expecting me to follow, I didn’t keep her waiting so I walked inside still on all fours.
once we got inside she took of my clothes off and put them on a table next to her and said “there, now how the heck did you wind up wandering near my apple trees?" she said with a concern look “and what kind of animal are you, i've never seen an animal with such white fur and weird spots before?" she said while trying to get a good look at me “oh well, i'll take you to twilight tomorrow” and after that, she turned around and started to walk upstairs and stopped mid-way to raise a hoof signaling me to follow her and I did not knowing why she wanted me to follow her,once we got upstairs she turned left only to open a door to a bedroom and that she went in and I followed her inside the room.once we were in the room she said to me “welp you better get to sleep,i'm gonna do the same,tomorrow is a big day" and with that she left the room while closing the door behind her.I got in bed yanked the covers over me with my paws, and put my head on the pillow and went to sleep waiting for the next day.
