Polaroids and Memories
Chapter One: The Meeting
Load Full StoryThe breeze came and gently touched Twilight Sparkle's face. She closed her eyes and took all the fresh air that the breeze brought to her. She found herself back in that carriage, the purple, unsocial pony was now having a castle in the destination in which it was only a mission yet soon it turned into her home. She opened her eyes and looked herself in the mirror again. She brushed her mane. Instead of the poor and miserable look, she was having, it was now her gazing with strong acting eyes. After all the adventures she had with the other five, all they have been through, safe and sound and always together. Without hesitation, these were the most remarkable moments Twilight ever had in her life.
With a sudden knock on her door, Twilight shivered. She cleared her throat and gently said: "Come in.". She didn't expect any visitors today but she understood it was Spike whose nails were touching to the cold and shiny concrete. Spike came to her. Twilight checked her face and still, he was unaware of what was going on. It was actually providing Twilight an easier process to come over with this thing that was continuously craving her inside. She turned back at Spike and saw his little feet's running to her. He gave a giant and friendly hug to Twilight. "Did you delivered the letters?" asked Twilight. She got her answer as "Yes." by seeing Spike nodding his head. She turned around back to the mirror and with a sudden magic she took a tissue and wiped her eye. Luckily, Spike didn't see her tear drop.
"Twilight, may I ask you something?" Spike came front, trying to start a conversation. Twilight took a deep breath. Since Spike didn't get a reply, he just started up the topic. "Twilight, you are more quite than usual and believe me I lived with you for a long time. My whole life was with you. What happened Twilight? What is the cause of this sadness?" Spike asked.
Twilight gently put her comb down to the desk and said: "Can you please give me my crown?". She looked back to the mirror. It was not that she was interested in her physical appearance more than Rarity, it was trying to stand strong in front of what will happen with her friends. Spike without questioning, opened a wardrobe and put out the crate. With his tiny, sharp claws he took out the crown and tried to gently put it on Twilight.
Twilight, with magic, prevented him and his intention: "I can handle it." she said and she placed the crown on her head with the purple magic that had been lit by her horn. Spike left the room, a little said, with lots of thoughts of why Twilight was pushing him away. With a last wise look she gave to the mirror she understood, after listening to herself for quite a while, it was now time.
Spike came back with a strong and patient smile on his face. The only thing he wanted was Twilight's happiness. However, what Twilight will explain to them, it was not only hurting Twilight. It was also causing pain to her surrounding too. Spike cleared his throat: "They came and they are ready.".
Twilight gave a nod and stepped off from her stool. She wiped another tear drop with her silk tissue. She was taking the steps downstairs one by one, slowly, trying not to fall. She was feeling such pain inside, she was afraid of fainting. Inside her, she was trying to encourage herself. She was a strong pony indeed, yet, this was out of her control.
She came down and opened the gates to the main meeting room. She saw her friends and with a barely smile, she tried her best to greet them. Everyone was having minor chats about what was going on. Even Pinkie Pie stopped her sarcastic face and with a serious look, she was worried like the rest of four.
"What is the matter, darling? Why that blue face?" Rarity gently asked while Twilight was about to begin to her speech. Twilight gave a smile, but the smile was not because of a happy memory or because of a Pinkie Pie joke. It was the smile covering her sadness. She immediately started to cry quietly but she turned her back and took a deep breath. Rarity saw the silk napkin on the ground. It was all wet now. They were all starting to get more and more curious about what was going on.
Twilight cleared her throat and once more took a really deep breath. With her horn, she cast a magic and levitated the parchment. She intended to start her speech but she couldn't on the first try. She cleared her throat again:
"My dear friends. Thank you deeply for showing up here today. We, on this very day, gathered with the reason of truths. Please, do not interrupt me while I am reading this since it is also very hard for me to read this. Any questions and discussions will be made in the-". She started crying once more. Applejack gave her the wet silk tissue. Applejack started reading the rest but Twilight rejected. Applejack went back to her seat. Spike was biting his nails while trying to hope something not so bad is coming. Yet, with seeing Twilight cry, it looked impossible for him to not face a real big issue: "-will be made in the end." Twilight continued:"Yesterday, I had a nightmare. In this nightmare, I saw something. I was alone and you were all dead. I was living because I was an alicorn. I can not do this. That is why I am going. I have to go." she said and she left the room and rushed upstairs.
"What the hay was that?" Applejack asked. Surprised by what was going on. Everyone was questioning everything that might have made her sad but nothing was coming into any of their minds. Applejack stood up and came closer to Spike: "Spike, you spend more time with Twilight than any single of us do. What happened?". Spike was trying to speak with his tears.
"I don't know Applejack. I think she does not like me anymore. I even suspected if she was a changeling but she is not. I think she hates me! I think she hates all of us. I just don't know." Spike was speaking out loud while his face got all wet because of the tears. Fluttershy patted Spike's head gently.
"There, there... Of course, it is not your fault Spike and I am sure Twilight doesn't hate us. Why would she? We are her best friends." Fluttershy said while trying to cheer up Spike. Pinkie Pie was shocked. She looked like a statue. She was still struggling what could those words mean? What were they implying? Rarity and Fluttershy were trying to help Spike get over with his sadness. However, it was also hard for them to stay strong and happy. Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash frowned her eyes and aimed to dash to the upstairs to talk to the princess of friendship. Applejack stopped her. She wanted them to give Twilight some moment to relax. She was sure Twilight wouldn't leave without saying a goodbye.
"Well..." Rarity began her words while wiping her tears. She stood up. "She must have a good reason to leave or why would she leave us? I mean... Right?". Everyone tried to look in a positive perspective and nodded. "Please Rainbow Dash, Applejack is right. We should give her some time to think. Currently, as we can all see, she is in a shock. Something happened and we don't know the reason why. Even Spike does not know it so I assume it must be something unexpected and ginormously shocking for Twilight." she continued.
"But we need explanation. Without knowing why we can't let her go. Can we?" Pinkie Pie asked with a little trembling voice. Applejack hugged Pinkie Pie. Everyone was trying so hard to cheer each other up. Spike sneaked away from the gang and went upstairs.
When he reached to Twilight's Room, he saw her packing. He entered the room and he started to pack his own things. Twilight looked at him. :"No!" she said with a sudden yell. "You are not coming with me. The place where I am about to go, no one is invited. I am serious Spike. You must stay here. Don't even follow me." she continued.
Spike got angry and started to yell at Twilight back. "Really? After all the adventures we had together, I never left you behind. Everything, the best and the worst, we always faced them together. What happened Twilight? Is it really that easy to leave your assistant? To leave your company? To leave your true friend? What did I even do to you? Tell me! You owe me this before you go!". The other five ponies appeared in front of the gate of Twilight's room. They must be had heard what Spike said.
Twilight started to cry. : "Don't make this harder than it will be okay?" she said and she took her backpack. She gave one last look to behind. She hugged all of them. Spike tried to stop her and tried to run to her. Twilight teleported away. Spike kneeled down and started to cry. Now there was the breeze, coming from the open window to wipe his tears. However, it couldn't. The pain inside Spike was growing and growing. The room was getting darker and darker, while Luna was rising the moon and Celestia was lowering the sun, five ponies and one dragon was hugging with their tears.
