I woke up to worried whispers and an agonizing pain on my back. I recognized Pinkie’s voice right away along with Rainbow Dash’s. There was a third, unfamiliar voice, it had an adorable country twang and was obviously the most worried out of the three mares. I slowly opened my eyes to realize that I was in a hospital bed.
“Where am I?”
The three mares squeaked in shock. They thought that I would be knocked out for awhile longer.
“You ok Nova?” Rainbow Dash asked guiltily. “I-I’m so sorry, it’s my entire fault. I should have caught you.” She looked down, not wanting to meet my gaze, or let me see her teary eyes.
“I’m fine,” I said weakly. “What happened exactly?”
Pinkie told the story:
“First you and Dashie were like WHOOSH and then she was ahead of you and she was like BOOM and then you was like ‘Oh no you didn’t!” and you accidently ran into Dash, and you where like ‘AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!’ Then Dashie tried to rescue you but she was so tired and you were falling SO fast. You then fell into a tree in Sweet Apple Acres where Applejack works.” Pinkie Pie motioned towards the stranger. She was a very pretty mare with an orange coat and a blonde mane. She had a cute hat which she now used to hide her shy green gaze.
Pinkie continued her bizarre version of the story, “You fell into a HUGE apple tree that Applejack bucked, and you slipped off the branch with a big BOOM! We got you to the hospital as quick as we could, and that is where we all are now!”
Applejack and Rainbow Dash gave me the most apologetic faces, “I’m sorry,” they said simultaneously.
“I know you planned on only passing through Nova, but you might have to stay here for a few days while your wing heals,” Rainbow said, looking at the floor again.
“It’s broken, I thought so,” I said sadly. I then began to worry. ”Where will I stay?”
“Ah already set up a lil’ room fer ya in th’ barn at Sweet Apple Acres,” Applejack said kindly. “Ah’ just came back from settin’ it up when ya woke up.”
“No offense ‘er anything,” I said in a meek whisper, “but I don’t really feel comfortable staying at a stranger’s house.”
“Well ya’ can’t stay at Rainbow’s house since you ain’t gonna fly fer awhile.”
“What about staying at Pinkie’s?”
We both looked at the pink party pony trying to cheer up a guilty Rainbow Dash.
“Just trust me,” Applejack whispered. I gave a small nod. Although on the inside I knew I couldn't trust strangers.
A nurse came into the room, and asked the visitors to leave. They waved goodbye with weak smiles. The nurse did a few tests, told me what medicines I would be taking, and that I would only be in the hospital a little longer. The doctor put an uncomfortable cast on me, so I couldn’t move my wing that much. I spent a few hours in the lumpy, dusty hospital bed, watching TV, talking to nurses and doctors, and sometimes just awkwardly talking to myself. But, for most of the time I thought about Applejack, and if I would really give her my trust and respect.
