Hey guys! I got a second story up, so if I hit writer's block on "Trigger," I have this to come to, but I will mainly work on "Trigger."
This is another random idea I came up with on a whim and decided to write it in hopes you'll enjoy it.

Prologue: Bittersweet Beginnings
So, my name is Jake Wolfe.....and I've been adopted by Nightmare Moon.
Take a moment to think that thirteen word sentence over a few times and put the pieces of the puzzle together. Sounds like a joke, doesn't it? Well, it's quite the opposite and it's the truth, in fact. Nightmare Moon is real. On earth. And adopted me. Also, unlike in the show, she's anthropomorphic.
Six years ago I had parents....real ones....until we were T-boned by a semi on the way home from a family outing for ice cream. I was heart broken when I woke in the hospital and one of the first things they told me is my parents didn't survive. How's that for a wake up call? Eight years old and you wake up in the hospital to find out your parents are no longer alive? R.I.P me.
I was also told they might have to take my right leg from how badly broken it was, or if they didn't, I'd never walk again. Luckily neither of those things happened and my leg is fully functioning, other than the random twitches it makes now and again. It doesn't bother me, though. I'd rather have a twitching leg over a missing one!
Words could never describe how scared I was. My leg on the line without a mother's hand to hold.
Moving on now.
I spent a good four months, healing in the hospital...alone. I've always been a cast out in school and thus I've got no friends. The ones I do call friends probably only pretended to like me. My grandparents live elsewhere so they can't come to see me....so....nobody came to see me other than doctors and nurses.
During this time, I'd watch the news all day to at least keep tabs on what was going on in the world I was missing out on. Damn, I just used 'on' three times in less than fifteen words. But, anyway, I was watching Fox Live when I found out Nightmare moon, who was going to be my mother six years later, was real.
Call me weird, call me dumb, call me gay, I liked that cute little show of pastel colored, sentient ponies. I especially liked Scootaloo.
But, apparently, what the news thought was an incoming meteorite, was Nightmare Moon in the flesh, who crashed down to earth in a corn field just north from here. Hell, I watched her fall! But then again I guess you knew that already.
As time went on, society began to accept having Nightmare Moon around, who luckily had no intention of enslaving us. As time went on, I finally found myself in an orphanage, without a loving family to come home to. My grades in school slipped, I became isolated, even picked up a few bullies along the way.
Each day was a living hell, watching over time as kids came and went. I felt unloved and unwanted. All the kids that were there when I came in had been adopted.
Six birthdays went by...
Six Thanksgivings went by...
Six Halloweens went by...
Six Christmases went by...
Six years I was still there.
Eight's usually the age when parents become uninterested in older kids and I just had to be that very age. Fourteen now and I was still waiting.
The orphanage felt like prison.
The food was awful, we couldn't leave, always being supervised. You misbehave they had a separate area for 'naughty' kids. We all slept in one long room with bunk beds, the windows small and up towards the ceiling with bars to prevent escape.
I felt like a criminal, convicted of some crime, and that I'd never be getting out.
Then Nightmare Moon....of all people came in. All the little kids were super hyped about her, the chance to be adopted, but in this case, their mommy would be a pony.
"You cannot deny me to see these children just because you don't like me! I have my rights as a citizen of this state!" Nightmare could be heard hollering to the receptionist through the glass security door which was the only way out. You'd need a card key to get through.
They argued for a short time, but finally she was allowed in and we, the kids, were gathered in the visiting area. There were old couches which smelled of old cheese, the lamp on the end table didn't work, there was water damage on the ceiling. The carpet was the only thing clean. I mean, there are standards and babies pee and puke all over this thing. To neglect to clean it would get this place shut down.
As soon as Moon walked in, the little ones, four to six were at her hooves, their little arms raised up to her as if she had a bag of cookies to give away. Ones from eight to ten seemed a little hesitant, but soon found themselves playing with her long, flowing tail. They're kids. Curious little buggers.
I was the only one not in the group. No, I gave up on my cute act which I thought was going to guarantee my escape from this place. Instead, I opted to sit alone on the other side of the room, hoping to not be noticed, making myself as small as possible. I grew tired of personally being told no. No that I wasn't what they were lookin for or I was just too old. I'm a kid, yet I'm old at the same time?
Makes sense, I guess. Not really.
Despite my efforts to become invisible man, the mare-on-the-moon noticed me.
"Child." she says firmly and a shiver runs down my spine. I hear hoof steps and look up and she's somehow standing in front of me, a giggling toddler was holding onto her hoof, having been dragged along. She crosses her arms and raises a brow. "What might you be doing all the way over here?"
"I...I," I muttered with no clue how to respond as if I'd forgotten English.
She kneels down in front of me. "Tell me, why you aren't with the others?"
There was sternness in her voice as if she were annoyed as opposed to sooth and comforting to see what's actually wrong with me.
I look back down, only for her hand to lift my chin as she moves closer, forcing me to gaze into her teal, slitted eyes
"Do not ignore me, young child. I asked a question."
At least she called me young?
"He doesn't like visitors," one of the kids says.
"He says they all hate him," another one adds.
"Is that so?" Moon raised a brow at me and she stood up again and takes my hand. "Come, child."
I gasped as she held my hand firmly and led me out into the lobby.
"I want this one." she glares at the elderly receptionist.
"W-well, we need a proof of residence...a...a proof of employment, phone number, name, a-an email address and to see if you're even legible to adopt." the lady says.
"Horse apples." Moon stopped a hoof. "Back in MY world you just had to tell them which child you wanted and that's that!"
"You see, honey....we-"
Nightmare Moon slams a fist onto the counter. "Don't call me honey!"
The old lady was shaking now. "M-my apologies...but things are different here. The adoption process can take months t-to years, even!"
Nightmare Moon deadpanned. "You've got to be KIDDING me! Just to adopt a child!? This is ridiculous!"
I winced a little from the height of her voice.
"I-it might also take as little as a few weeks...it depends on you, mostly..."
"Well, how can we make it happen that way?" Moon asks.
"First off, is it this child you want? We like to make sure the parent finds the right match..."
Moon groans. "Yes, this is the child I want!"
The old lady with her curly white hair nodded. "Then you'll need to fill out some paperwork and you'll need the information packet which comes with a fee.."
Nightmare Moon draws in a long breath and sighs, placing a hand over her muzzle.
"And we'll need and interview with you and your selected child..."
Moon groans again, obviously becoming annoyed as she throws her head back.
"You people make this impossible, don't you?" she snapped.
I couldn't help but laugh at my soon-to-be mother. At least I was finally getting out.

Chapter One: Life as it is now
That was four months ago and I've been under Nightmare Moon's care for two months now. It's really been interesting. I was scared at first when the adoption agency dropped me off. Nightmare Moon was there to take me inside. I had no clue what to do, so when I entered and she let go of my hand, I stood off to the corner of the living room of her apartment unit. I mean, Nightmare Moon has just fully adopted me and I was now her legal child. I had no idea what her intentions were.
I felt like I had been cheated. Out of the orphanage finally, but stuck in the hands of a former villain pony.
As the days went by, I slowly grew more and more used to being around Moon and I'd be lying if I said she wasn't taking care of me. She's stern, short tempered, always annoyed with something...yet she shows slight affection towards me. She makes me do dishes and sweep and she does the rest. If I mess up, she simply gives me whatever wasn't done right and says "fix it."
We watch TV together sometimes and she'll have an arm around me, holding me to her. The times she's in a good mood, I'll get a hug, possibly a kiss on the head. I love it when she gets her paychecks from work. She gets really happy then and we go out for ice cream.
Things were silent the first few days, the both of us seldom saying a word to each other. Now that we've gotten used to each other, I hope, we manage short, little conversations. Meal times are the only real moments when we talk to each other.
I began getting the feeling she didn't adopt me because she actually wanted me, so I asked one night at dinner.
"Why did you adopt me, Moon?" I asked, if not a bit shaky.
She finished the food in her mouth and set her fork down and looked up at me. "These humans don't feel I've proven myself to be of no harm. I felt adopting a kid might make them see. They're testing my patience."
"So you...didn't really adopt me because you wanted me?"
She didn't answer.
No surprise there.
I excused my self, put my dishes in the sink and went to my room. I had to wait six years to be adopted and this is what I get?
Needless to say I fell into depression again.
But that was four months ago.
Now, I feel we've got a possible bond forming...and Moon...is slowly getting down how to be a mother.

"This is not acceptable. Jake." Moon looks up form my report card to meet my eyes from across the table. "Why do you have a D- in your Social Studies class?"
I rubbed my arm nervously as I tried to come up with a response. "S-sorry....I-"
Moon cuts me off. "You know, you wouldn't have to be sorry if you did what you're supposed to. Your teacher wrote a note saying you tend to doze off in his class."
I looked down in defeat.
Moon lifts my chin to look at her. "Are you not getting enough sleep, Jake? You need to keep this grade up."
"I-I know, Moon....I guess I could use some more sleep..."
"Alright, your bed time is a half hour earlier, then. You know I don't approve of anything below a C-, correct?" Moon asks firmly.
I nod.
"Moving on, then." she adjusts herself in her chair, the paper in her purple aura of magic and her chin propped up on her hands. "You've got a C+ in science, a B in Art and E.L.A. An A+ in Math?" She looks up at me again.
I nod again with a small smile, proud I passed my test last week with flying colors.
"Very good. You've got an A in Gym." Moon looks to the hutch to our right and a pen levitates from a little jar, into her hand and she signs her name. "Other than your D-, your other grades are good. There's two weeks until the end of the month, Jake. Ask your Social Studies teacher for an update and if you've raised your grade, I'll see about getting you something."
With a smile I nod. "I'll do my best."
"I expect nothing less than that." she says firmly, pointing her pen at me. "Now. If you fail to raise your grade to at least a C- you will lose TV privileges for three days. Got it?"
"Y-yes, Moon."
"Good."
I get up from my chair and I head into the kitchen to do the dishes. I hear the theme song of "My Little Pony" start to play in the living room as I cleaned.
Yeah. Moon watches the show.
So, this is how my life is as of now. I live under strict rules, guidelines to follow and if I mess up, it's never good, but she gives me chances. I'm actually proud of Moon. She went from feeding me whatever and putting me to bed without a care, to actually being concerned in my performance at school and things like that. I may or may not have done things wrong with intent to get her to notice these things, to get her to actually care.
I feel like I'm teaching my Mom....to BE a Mom.
Watch.
"Um, Moon?" I call out from the kitchen.
I hear her show pause, followed be hoof steps as she comes into the kitchen.
"Yes? What is it?"
There's the first part. Actually getting her to come to me when I call for her.
"May I have a hug?"
Moon, not being a hugger, sighed and rolled her eyes. "I guess." she opens her arms and I wrap my arms around her. She returns my hug and lightly nuzzles my head.
"Thanks, Moon," I nuzzle her in return before pulling away.
She nods and goes back to watching herself fight Celestia. First two episodes were her favorite. Yeah, she still hates Celestia with a burning passion.
When I finish the dishes, I look at the clock on the wall, noting I have twenty-ish minutes until bed time.
I head out to the living room. Moon out stretches her right wing and pats the spot next to her on the couch. I sit next to her and with her wing, she pulls me close. and she hooks her right arm cross my shoulder and around my neck.
"M-Moon?"
"Yes, my child?" she rubs my hair.
"Since...you know...you're an alicorn....would it be possible if you could maybe...turn me into a pony for a while?"
"Sure, why not?" her horn lights purple-ish blue. There was a small flash of light.
When the light fades, I'm a midnight blue Pegasus colt with a spiked mane and tail.
"Thank you, Moon," I smiled.
"Of course, my son," she kisses my head.
Moon cackled as she struck Celestia with her beam of magic on the TV. "Yeah! Take that, you selfish prune!"
I laughed a little, hugging my tail as I snuggled myself into my mother's side. She really is a good mother figure. She's improved a lot since she first adopted me. I'm honest when I say I'm glad to have been adopted by her.
"Do you think you'll ever go back, Moon?"
She pauses the TV then gives me a stern look. "And leave you here just to chase sun butt down again? Not a chance, my son. I've got a new life here with you humans. As much as I hate most of your race, at least they don't hate ME. Those ponies are too selfish."
I laugh a little. "Do you love me, Moon?"
Moon looks at me in shock. "What kind of stupid ass question is that?"
"Just making sure," I smile, laying my head on Moon's shoulder.
Moon held me close, nuzzling me. "You're the only one who's really ever understood me, Jake. You're the only human I don't hate."
"Thanks, Moon, but I'm currently not human....I'm a pony, silly."
Moon just shook her head, her sharp teeth showing through her smile.
"I think it's time for the little pony to go to bed."
"Awe, okay."
Moon gets up from the couch. "Let's get your teeth brushed and you tucked in, shall we?"
I nod as I follow Moon into the bathroom. I can't help but stare as my new shape in the full length mirror on the door.
"Don't get too comfy, Jake. I'm changing you back once we leave tomorrow. Now come brush your teeth."
I turn around and Moon hands me my toothbrush with a fair amount of toothpaste on it and I begin to brush.
Once that's finished, mom tells me to wait in my room and that she'll be right back. I obey of course, playing with my tail. When she comes back, she hands me a large bunch of white fluffy stuff.
"Why not sleep on a cloud tonight, Jake?"

My Mother...Nightmare Moon!?!?
Chapter Two: Poly Little School Pony
Kay, so this may be confusing how Nightmare Moon was allowed to become a citizen of the U.S, rather than the government making futile attempts to keep her in confinement. Well, it's because of that very fact. Normally you'd expect to see on the news a first interaction from an alien being....such as Nightmare Moon, but I guess she didn't take too lightly to being kept in a steel room with foot thick walls. She easily broke out. At least, that's what the article said that was released to the public.
The government being the government, they like to keep secrets, so we never got the full story of what happened with Moon while she was "in captivity."
I do know that the president personally met with Moon to work things out....that was all over the news!
So, Moon had to prove herself worthy of being a trusted citizen of the U.S by...you know...NOT blowing it to pieces. She was given this apartment to live in, free of charge. She was given a car, free of charge as well and lessons on driving....also free of charge. To put it simple, she got the necessities all for free to "show gratitude she's here."
Where after four years, the government felt she was ready to be made a citizen, plenty citizens themselves weren't ready to accept her. Yeah she's from a girl's TV show, but can you imagine how messed up our world would be if she tried to bring "eternal night?"
There would be no solar power, no crops on farms to grow, the Earth would become cold...there's a LOT our sun does for us. I guess people didn't like the fact a humanoid pony - just one - could flip our world upside down.
Luckily, none of that has happened and it seems Nightmare Moon is changing on her own terms, not just because the government wants her too. I, personally, know for a fact she's changed. I mean, she's my MOM for Pete's sake. Not my real Mom, of course....but you get the point. If anybody can tell you if she's changed or not, it's me.
I'm probably going to call her "Mom", soon, to see how she reacts. That'll be big for her in someway. Gone from being most powerful villain to stuck on the moon for 1,000 years to mother of an alien on an alien planet. Wonder what she'll think when she comes to that epiphany?
But I digress.
On with the story.

"You're going to work to get that grade raised, correct?" Moon asks me, ruffling my mane as she sets a bowl of Applejacks down in front of me at the table.
I nod. "Yeah, of course!" I lean into her hand.
"Good. Now hurry up an eat so you won't be late."
I do as told, watching as Moon brushed her mane. "Can't believe I actually have to work , now."
"You looked better in your armor than this outfit," I commented as she threw on her tuxedo, putting on the only button there was at the middle of her abdomen.
"You're telling me, but if I'm going to prove I can care for a child," she fixes her tie, pausing now and again, "I need to make money and to do that, I need to keep a job."
Where does Moon work, you may ask? Well, she's been given a job by the government, which she has to keep secret and thus, all she can tell me when I ask what she does is; "work."
"You should get some shades. Your suit wouldn't look so boring, then." I chuckled.
Moon rolled her eyes. "Hush, child."
As I finished my cereal, Moon was still all over the house, doing this and that, like an ant randomly wandering around in search of food. I stuck my bowl in the sink.
"You sure you can't just leave me as a pony, Moon?" I ask as she gave me a quick hug.
She sighs. "Fine, but if anything bad happens at school, it's on you. I know I made you a Pegasus, but if I find out you tried flying, I will change you back without a thought and never make you a pony again. Got it?" She gave me a stern glare, pointing a finger at me.
"Yes, Moon! No flying!"
"Good," she kisses me on the head. "I don't want you getting hurt before I begin teaching you to fly."
"Of course!" I nuzzle Moon.
"Get your backpack, we're leaving now so I can have time to explain this to your principle and teachers," she returns my nuzzle.
So Moon held my hand, like always, as she led me to the black, 2016 Nissan Optima in the drive-way.
Fun fact: You park in a drive-way but drive in a park-way. Kinda like Iceland is grassy and Greenland is icy.
Derp.
Mom buckles me in the front passenger seat, even though she knows I can do it. She just wants to, quote on quote; make sure. She gets into her side of the car and starts it up. Only having been a citizen for a couple years, she's quite the driver! She hates traffic and would rather avoid it by, you know, flying, but she doesn't want to risk dropping me.
To be honest, I feel Moon is a bit paranoid in keeping me safe.
"Jake?"
"Yes, Moon?"
"Am I doing a good job of taking care of you?" she asks as we come to a red light and turns her head to me.
I nod. "Of course! I tell you every time you ask, silly."
She smiles a little. "I'm trying to change. Being evil is fun and all, but being stuck on a glowing rock for a thousand years is not..."
"I bet...but these people can't send you to the moon."
The light changes green.
"They sent Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong, didn't they? What did they do?"
I face palm at that.
"Yes, Moon, but not as punishment."
"Oh..."
When we get to the school, it's still quite early and the before-school program has barely begun. We head inside and I begin to feel a little nervous as we walked into the office which smelled of paper, pencils and flowers. Moon dings the bell on the counter and waits [im]patiently. The walls were a mocha color of brown and made me thirsty for coffee - something Moon never lets me have.
"We need to see the principle, please," Moon said flatly.
"Okay," the blonde lady with too much makeup on, probably in her thirties replies. "What might your name b-"
"Hush, human! You know my name." Moon deadpanned.
"M-my apologies. Head on back."
I follow moon into the principles office and the tall, obese, brown haired man in his white button up an black pants, greets us.
"Morning How may I help you, Ms. Moon?" he gestures for us to sit at the table.
"We don't need to sit, we'll only be a minute," Moon pulls me back when I tried to take a seat. "My son, Jake Wolfe," she pats my head, " asked me to turn him into a pony, so I did. I was originally going to change him back before bringing him to school, but he insisted he remain a pony, thus he obviously doesn't look like himself. I'm here in person to tell you this and to let his teachers know what t expect to avoid complications. Understood?"
The fat man stares for a second before nodding as he looks in my direction. "Certainly. I-I will let them know." he turns to his computer.
"One more thing. I'd like to know if he tries to fly. I've told him not to until I've properly taught him. If he stretches or rustles his wings, it's fine, but if he's seen flapping to get off the ground I'd like to know."
Fatty nods again. "Of course. I've emailed all his teachers to let them know."
"It is also imperative you get him a new ID since he will remain a pony."
"Have your five dollars to cover the fee of a new ID?"
Moon growls as if she hoped he wouldn't remember and she pulls out her wallet and hands him the bill.
"We will be going now. Thanks for you time." Moon grumbles as she takes me out of the office.
"Is me being a pony going to be a privilege, Moon?" I asked as we were out in the hall again.
Moon kneels down and pulls me into a hug. "Of course not. But I have to go now, alright?"
I smile as she held me and I return her hug. "Thanks, Moon."
"Anything for my son," she kisses my head and stand again. "I love you, have a good day at school."
"I will, Moon! I love you, too!" I hug her again before she can leave.
"See you after work, Jake," she hugs me and leaves.
I smile as I turn and skip down the hall, to the cafeteria, enjoying the sound of my hooves clip-clopping on the tiled floor as I swayed my tail with pride.
I've got the best adoptive Mom, ever!

This story is really hard to write, having so much to be explained while having Moony as a mother, yet till as her sassy self without fully reforming her. I've thrown myself for a loop writing this!
