"Boots are on the ground..."
1: Initial beginnings/Arrival
Load Full Story"Boots are on the ground”
"What the hell am I doing…”, I thought to myself as I was sitting in this confined space, feeling as though as I was in a cocoon. A butterfly itching to get out. I’ve been drowning out all sounds around me as I’ve been waiting. Slapping myself out of my disoriented state,my heartbeat is the first sound that I can hear. Not seconds after that , the loud hum of the plane engine fills my eardrums. Then the sound of chains clanking and clacking back and forth. The rushing of wind. And then finally an idle conversation of the soldiers. There’s no turning back. I’m along for the ride now. Once I begin feeling normal I pull out my camera ever so slowly. “I’d hate to get caught now”, I muttered to myself. I nervously fingered the camcorder open and began to record myself in night vision mode. Not saying anything, I begin to try and focus on something other than the fear of getting caught. I decide to look over myself.
I was a tan Caucasian man aged to a fine 18 years old. Standing at a broad 5,11 I had brown eyes with rounded square glasses. My hair was short on the top and even shorter on the sides, but perfectly blended to my beard. My goatee was noticeably longer to show more definition. I reached for my hat and put it. I started adjusting the camcorder cracking a crooked smile showing I still had some humor in all of this. As I was about to press the power of the camera a loud voice boomed over the intercom, “Leaving at cruising altitude, Drop Zone in sight.".
There was a small pause
“Prepare cargo drop”, it continued.
“Here it comes.”, I whisper.
I heard the two man group of soldiers checking and unstrapping the crates. After I hear the soldiers return to the front of the plane, one yells "Cargo prepared for a drop!”.
“Confirmed, Dropping 72”, announced the intercom.
“Oh shit here it comes”, I think out loud.
“Dropping altitude, reached skidding Zone.”, yelled the pilot I presume.
I feel my stomach sink to my feet as the planes landing gear glides across the dirt runway.
"Drop cargo now.", "Affirmative dropping cargo now." . The back of the plane opened and the crates came tumbling out, spilling themselves across the runway.

“CLICK”, “It was my turn now.”.
SK… SK...... Oh no. The look of shock on my face was visible, my cart wasn’t hardly moving.
“Oh God no, I’m caught they know I’m in here.”. That was the first thought that came to my head.
“Damn Packers.”, I hear a soldier grunt as he pushes my crate down the track of the plane. The feeling of weightlessness overcomes me and I the feeling of relief flood of me. That was before the crate slammed into the earth, causing me immense pain. When the crate stopping moving and I was able to move, I quickly kicked open the crate and crawled out. "I’ve made it!", I said through gritted teeth. I quickly scan the area around me.
I was awestruck. To me, everything I could see was pure beauty. The moon was hanging low in the sky, lighting up the world below me. From what my pen pal told me I had 10 to 17 minutes before a native comes to get the boxes. I quickly made myself scarce to the surrounding tree line, just to be safe. Using the cameras digital clock and my watch the find out the time. I set up my camera to night vision mode and push the record button. I was sweeping the area to get a good view of everything. While doing so I manage to see a town in the distant hills. Feeling cheesy, I say to the camera, "Boots are on the ground.". Smiling to myself I end the recording and sit down on a nearby tree line.
I still had the camera on but not recording just zooming in and out on the town to get a better view of it. I put away the camera and sling my AR over my shoulder looking through the scope to see if it could help me see something my grainy night vision couldn't didn't. I scan the town looking for anything. Nothing. There’s nobody. Or should I say nopony moving. I shift my gaze upon the ever so beautiful Canterlot castle. Pure beauty it if I’ve ever seen it. I sat there for a full minute staring at the amazing landscape before me. Snapping out of it, I quickly check my watch cursing to myself, realizing how much time I wasted.
I let loose of my rifle and start packing and clipping my gear back on. I began to jog farther into the forest. I stop on a tree, placing a hand against a tree looking back one final time. I see distant lanterns light up voices being to form in the distance, telling me that that was my cue to get the hell Outta Dodge. Making my way through the forest I began to map everything out. Knowing that I'm going to be staying a while I need to know this place like the back of my own hand. Traveling a good distance away I decide to stop for a small break. I reach in my bag and get a drink from one of my canteens. Gathering my bearings I start to think of everything I've seen. Deciding this would be a good time for this I get out my camera out and turn it on facing me.
" I just jumped on a motherfucking airplane. Flew across the ocean and landed without being caught. With enough guns and ammo to take out a platoon. Along with enough gear to survive a year without contact.”. I pause for a moment before saying to the lens. “I’m a fucking Savage.”. After a moment I start to chuckle. Soon the chuckle turns into a full on belly laugh.
Turning back to the camera I say, " Today is June 10th, 2018. Not just a week ago I graduated from the high school study of ACT.". I looked down, a frown clearly plastered across my face. “ Anyways I’ve made it to this ‘foreign soil." I air quote. “ I will begin today. I’ve decided to not stay on the ground. I’m going to put my home in the tree limbs and connect three trees together to make a platform. Hopefully it all goes well. End of Vlog 1.".
