Even a Princess Can Have a Bad Night
Twilight Sparkle, the Princess of Friendship. Of course, she was always learning and growing in friendship herself. Well tonight was an . . . unfortunate learning experience. It had all started at one of Pinkie Pie’s prolific parties.
“Oh my gosh Twilight, I’m so excited you are here! I’ve been planning this one for ages,” Pinkie Pie shouted.
“Um Pinkie, didn’t you say this was an off the cuff, just for the fun of it I planned it this morning party?” Twilight replied.
“Well yah, but I have been planning a just for the fun of it I planned it this morning party for-e-ver!”
Pinkie Pie had truly outdone herself. There were cakes and drinks. The streamers covered the whole room. Everypony was dancing to the beat. Twilight had finished writing letters to Griffonstone and Princess Ember to encourage continued relations with the neighboring kingdoms. It was nice to just dance the night away.
“Hey Twilight, want a drink?” Said Eagle Song, a red Pegasus stallion with a cutie mark of wings with a treble note in the center.
“Sure, I’m parched.”
A few minutes later . . .
“Pinkie, I’m not feeling so good. I think I better head home.”
“Aww, feel better Twilight. Do you need somepony to walk you home?”
“I fink I good.”
“You sure?”
“I just shrank a liiittle too fast.”
Pinkie Pie made a mental note to herself to check on Twilight tomorrow. In fact, she was considering walking Twilight home when Gummy jumped out of the punch bowl scaring Cranky and Matilda.
Twilight was walking or perhaps stumbling was the proper term. Something felt off to her, but she couldn’t put her hoof on it. Her explanation as to not feeling so well made some sense, but it should have worn off by now. Then it felt like she just blinked.
“That took longer to work than I thought. Guess those alicorn genes really work.”
Blink. Twilight thought she was on a couch in a room she didn’t know. Blink.
“Now to take off this stupid disguise”
Blink.
Twilight found herself in a ratty bed. Groggy she tried to light her horn, but found a magic inhibitor on it.
Blink.
“You like that princess don’t you?”
Blink.
Everything was so sore. Twilight felt something moving in her. She looked up horrified at the stallion above her.
Blink.
A Few Hours Later
Twilight woke up on the floor in her own palace. Spike was still sleeping. He had stayed up too late at the party and went straight to bed without even checking on Twilight. Thinking Twilight had one too many to drink, he figured he could sleep in a little today.
Coming too, Twilight went to the restroom and looked in the mirror. Her eyes were bloodshot, and there were a few bruises on her. Just then a rush of aching pain was felt in her personal regions. As her mind went straight to her pain, she noticed that she felt sticky. Her vagina was soaked in semen. The reality of last night hit her. She had been raped.
The pony who took on Queen Chrysalis, Discord, Sombra, and even Tirek, had been tricked. She had been raped.
“No, no, no, no, no!”
Twilight splashed cold water in her face. She looked in the mirror with a dead serious face, and then she cried. Not wanting Spike to wake up and see her like this, she took a shower. After drying off, she started walking to the kitchen, but she still felt wet. It just wouldn’t go away.
After she made herself a quick sandwich, she heard the doorbell go off. Answering it, there was Pinkie Pie at the door.
“Hiya Twilight. Sorry I couldn’t walk you home last night. I had to play host and all. You okay?”
Twilight went through a million mental calculations of how to convince her friend that the answer was yes.
“Um, yeah” Twilight muttered.
“You sure? You had to leave pretty early last night.”
“Look, I’m fine. I erm, had to go on a new medication, and it turns out even a little alcohol can cause problems. Lesson learned right?”
“Wellll, if you say so. Have a great day!”
“You too Pinkie.”
After Pinkie left, Spike began to stir.
“Good morning sleepyhead.” Cooed Twilight.
“At least I can handle staying up late at all miss one drink and I need to go home.”
Twilight cringed. Spike retracted, “Um. Just kidding? Sorry, you okay.”
Twilight forced a smile, “I guess I have been pushing myself too hard. You know working on those treaties. I guess it was the gem that broke the dragon’s back.”
“If you say so. You want me to make us some breakfast?”
“You know what, number one assistant, why don’t you go help Rarity today? I already ate.”
“Well my lady, I shall go help . . . my lady.”
As Spike left, Twilight could swear she felt that stickiness. Then she went up to her room, but first grabbed a carton of ice cream from the freezer, and she cried.
A Few Weeks Later
“Wow Spike. You sure outdid yourself. Daffodils on pancakes, now why didn’t I think of that?”
“Well your Number One Assistant is always there to help.”
As Twilight and Spike chatted during breakfast, a headache from the night before was still bothering Twilight.
“You okay Twilight? You look a little flushed.”
“Yeah Spike, I’m fine I just.”
Twilight got that feeling in the pit of her stomach. She ran to the bathroom, and hurled in the toilet. Spike worried, ran after he to see poor Twilight lurched over the toilet.
“Twilight! I’m gonna take you to bed.”
“But Spike, I have to see Rainbow Dash today, and Rarity wanted me to try on a new dress.”
“Your new list is bed. I’ll get a pan just in case.”
The headache went away for a little bit, but it came back. Spike insisted she go to the doctor. Reluctantly, Twilight walked in the next day.
“Hi Twilight. I’m doctor Good Health. How are you feeling today?”
“Well sir, I kind of threw up yesterday, and I have had this headache for about two days that keeps on going.”
“Well, I’ll check you out to make sure everything is okey dokey.”
The stallion did some normal tests. He used the stethoscope to check her heart rate and listen to Twilight’s breathing. He checked her throat and ears. Everything looked fine.
“Now this is the personal part. I can have Doctor Healthy Heart come in instead.”
“It’s fine.”
But when Twilight sat down and spread, she got a twinge of dread. Good Health saw her face and shook his head.
“I think I’ll have Healthy Heart come in here after all. I know some mares are uncomfortable with a stallion checking privates.”
A few minutes later, Healthy Heart came in. When she began to make sure her vagina was running properly, Twilight still felt that dread, but she she breathed slowly to suppress it. After about a minute, Healthy Heart’s eyes grew wide. She noticed some scar tissue.
“Twilight, to ensure we can treat you well, is it okay if we have Good Health come in?
I’m done looking. We all need to have a chat.”
“Sure I guess. Is something wrong?”
After Good Health came in Healthy Heart began, “Twilight, I noticed some scar tissue. This can be the sign of a serious infection or injury. We want to help you, but we need to ask a personal question. Have you been sexually active recently?”
Twilight looked down and blinked. Then she blinked again, and then she cried.
“I don’t know who the bastard was. I was at a party, and then everything got fuzzy. One drink and I was losing it. I have flashes of seeing him, but I woke up in my castle on the floor. I tried to do a tracking spell on . . . but he had already enchanted it so it was untraceable.”
Good Health with a grim face began, “Twilight, I think we should do a pregnancy test. We want to make sure your are all right. It is rare but possible that conception took place under these circumstances.”
Twilight quietly whimpered as she took the test.Good Health and Healthy Heart looked at one another with quiet sympathy. They knew that this was horrible, but imagining it happening to their very own Twilight was so unbearable. Then they all looked. There was a plus sign on the stick.
The Referral
Good Health and Healthy Heart both sighed in tandem. Healthy Heart signed a piece of paper giving it to Twilight. It was a referral to a Planned Ponyhood. It had recently opened up in Ponyville.
Healthy Heart explained, “They are the best at removing these kinds of issues. Nopony should have to be forced to bear the child of her attacker.”
Twilight took the paper with her magic, nodded and grimly went on. Twilight went straight to the local Planned Ponyhood. She got in there and gave the paper to the doctor pony at the front. Then Twilight was called in.
The doctor did some normal check-ups. He asked her if she was on any medication, and made sure nothing would mix poorly with anesthesia. He said he didn’t ever prescribe RU-486 because of the bleeding risk. Finally, he did an ultrasound. Only he looked at it, and he confirmed the fetus was far enough along that a suction abortion would be preferred. However, she would have to be under so she got an appointment for the next day to forget this whole mess.
A Chance Encounter
As Twilight walked out of the clinic, Applejack happened to be at her stall selling apples nearby. Applejack immediately left her stall and went to Twilight. Twilight noticing Applejack start trotting away to make it look like she came from somewhere else.
“Hiya Twilight. How are you doing today?”
Sighing Twilight responded, “I’m fine Applejack. Just walking around. Fresh air right?”
Applejack gave Twilight a deadpan look. “So you didn’t just come out of Planned Ponyhood?”
“So what if I did? I can go where I want!”
“Twilight, I was talking to Pinkie Pie about that party a while back, and she said you got sick from a medication. What medication?”
Twilight just looked at Applejack for a second. Then she looked down. Blinked, and her eyes began to water.
“Sugarcube, let’s head back to your castle. I think you need to talk to your friends.”
“Do you think I want to spread this? What will they think?”
“Now Twi, you don’t have to tell everypony whatever happened. We just want to make sure you are okay?”
After they arrived in the castle, they went to a private room and began to talk.
“You want to know the truth Applejack? I was raped. Ok. Some bastard drugged my drink and dropped me back at home after he was done with me. Heat has never been a big deal for me. I sometimes don’t even know if I am in it”
Applejack nodded and pat Twilight on the back. “Well first off, any way to track this varmint?”
“No Applejack. He must have been a unicorn. I tried using a tracking spell on what he left, but it he must have known the spell to remove the trace. We may never know who did it.”
“So am I right in thinking . . .”
“Yes Applejack. I’m pregnant.”
“I’m so sorry he did this to you.”
“Well it is a simple solution. I have my abortion appointment tomorrow and I can forget this whole mess.”
“Twilight, please don’t.”
“Do you know what he did to me? He violated me. How could I be forced to raise his foal knowing his evil crime? You have no idea what it is like.”
“Well maybe not exactly, but I have a rough idea.”
Manehattan Memories
Applejack had gotten off the train for the big city. Her Uncle Orange greeted her. “My dear Applejack, how was your trip?”
“It was mighty fine. The grub was meh. Granny’s apple fritters spoiled me I guess.”
“Oh Applejack. You are in the city now. You must learn to control those erm, rustic mannerisms.”
Well poor Applejack was put through the etiquette ringer. Salad forks, titles, and hoof shakes. Sometimes she would sneak away to a nearby youth center. Well unfortunately for her, being late to getting a cutie mark didn’t mean she was late for other things. Applejack found herself in her first heat at the just the wrong time.
The earth pony colt was only a year older than her. His mane was brown, and he had a basketball cutiemark. He was shooting hoops while Applejack watched. He sniffed and went over to Applejack.
“What’s your name miss?”
“I’m Applejack. Ahm from west o hear. I mean, I’m from a rural county just west of Canterlot called Ponyville. What’s your name.”
“Name’s Long Shot. Why are you talking funny? You went from sounding normal to just weird.”
“My Aunt and Uncle Orange just keep on trying to get rid of all my countryisms.”
“Well, I like countryisms. People in Manehattan can get stuck up, and I like places where things besides potted plants grow.”
The conversation started innocently enough, but hormones and natural urges kicked in. Before they knew it, they were in the closet making out. That turned to sex.
When Aunt and Uncle Orange took Applejack to the doctor for her nausea, the doctor noticed the extra pooch. Applejack cried revealing what she did with Long Shot.
The Oranges with grim faces told Applejack they knew a doctor who could make it all go away.
Present Day
“Twilight, they took me to a Planned Ponyhood like the one you just left. I was put under, and almost everything went off without a hitch. Except, I woke up too soon. My eyes were glazed over but I saw my foal on the table next to me. He was bloodied up and put together like a horrific jigsaw puzzle. There was his head, torso ripped in three pieces, and all four legs.” Applejack began weeping. “Twilight, I let them kill my baby.”
“Applejack, you were so young. You weren’t ready. They should have watched you better.”
“But they didn’t Twilight, and my foal paid the price. I can’t save him Twilight, but maybe I can save yours.”
“I didn’t have a choice. My choice was taken away from me with that drink. Well now I do have a choice.”
“Twilight, please, my abortion still haunts me to this day. Sometimes, I avoid going to sleep just so I don’t have to see that puzzle when I close my eyes. Why do you think I work myself to exhaustion?”
“But I didn’t even get to choose to try or take the risk of a foal. It was all taken away from me.”
“Yes Twilight. Your choice was taken away, and that is despicable. It may feel like you are ending his hold on you, but you are just answering his violence with more violence.”
“I just can’t look it in the face.”
“Then I’ll adopt it.”
“What?”
“You heard me Twilight. Consider it making things right or at least better. I will never be able to raise or even conceive all the things my first foal could have done, but if I can save another, maybe he’ll forgive me when I see him on the pasture on the other side.”
“Applejack but . . .”
“Or if that is still too close, I’ll call my relations, there are some Apples near Las Pegasus who have been meaning to adopt.”
“Is it even a pony Applejack? Isn’t it just developing into one?”
“Well Twilight, I think it is, but maybe you don’t. All I can tell you is I hope you are sure, because if you are wrong, then a foal died as a result. I’m just trying to protect you from worse pain. That life developing from this violence didn’t rape you. He did. Please don’t condemn it for his crime.”
“Can you come with me. I need to go to the Planned Ponyhood one more time today.”
“I’m here Twilight.”
An Epilogue
Twilight cancelled her appointment for the next day and kept the foal. Princess Shining Star lived to give her mother much mischief and love, but that is a story for another day.

She had decorated town hall and the surrounding streets. DJ Pon3 and Octavia were improvising. Everypony was dancing to the beat.

“Um Pinkie, didn’t you say this was an off the cuff, just for the fun of it I planned it this morning party?” Twilight replied.
“Well yah, but I have been planning a just for the fun of it I planned it this morning party for-e-ver!” Twilight could just see Pinkie Pie bubbling with excitement about her ‘impromptu’ party.
Meanwhile, Twilight had finished writing letters to Griffonstone and Princess Ember to encourage continued relations with the neighboring kingdoms. It was nice to just dance the night away. Of course, a stiff drink was nice after working on such boring paperwork. She downed it fast and got one more, took a sip and left in on a table. Twilight was feeling a bit looser on the dance floor than before, but nothing was out of the ordinary.
Big Macintosh was dancing with Cheerilee. Scootaloo was fake vomiting at the scene while Sweetie Belle let out a slight “Dah.” Meanwhile Doughnut Joe had even made it down. He was swapping recipes with Pinkie Pie. Just-in Time, was running late, but nopony cared. Town hall was buzzing.
Twilight, had finally gotten tired of dancing, and went back to her drink. She took a big swig. It tasted a little off, but she didn’t think anything of it.
A few minutes later . . .

The Next Day
Twilight meticulous even in disaster held the petri dish with the semen in it. It held the only thing he left. Shaking, she prepared the tracking spell on it. Nothing.
“What am I doing wrong?” She thought to herself. She tried memory spells on herself. Besides her brief blinks, she couldn’t remember anything. It was all a blur.
“Okay, what about a magic signature spell? Then I can at least figure it out if I run into him again.” The results were clear. He must have been strong. There was a blanket spell blocking tracking, memory, really anything. It was as if he was a ghost haunting her, but forever out of reach.
She remembered that he was obviously at the party, but she didn’t recognize him at all. All she knew was he must have been a powerful unicorn. The night was so unclear, but she knew for those brief moments, she had never seen him. Then an idea struck her. “He said something about a disguise.”
She went into her reading on transformation magic. She knew she had changed herself into a breezie, and obviously changelings could copy just about anypony. However, the changelings were already friendly and living openly in Equestria. There was no reason for them to stoop to such levels. Then she found a book on Explorer Dusty Doo.
It read, “As I watched the changeling hive, I noticed their uncanny ability to obviously change into the form of anypony. Realizing the potential uses of such an ability, I strove to come up with a method for a unicorn to achieve similar results albeit with more difficulty. The spell is as follows.”
There it was. A book any unicorn could have found in the library with a spell to essentially copy the feats of changelings. Even if she knew hypothetically what form he was at the party, she couldn’t be sure if it was even the real stallion. Finding him was hopeless.
Exhausted, Twilight tried to sleep to forget everything. A slight knock came at the door. She got out of bed bleary eyed and red. Then Spike walked in.
“Hi Twilight. You still sleeping? What a party the other night? Just making sure you were okay cuz you kind of fell asleep at the entrance hall after the party.”
Twilight replied, “Um yeah, just had a little bit too much.”
Spike walked up and Twilight blinked and closed her eyes. Then Spike hugged her.
“Just glad you are doing okay. I’m sure you had planned that out in case of a hangover anyway. You have a plan for everything.”
Twilight breathed in a little too sharply. She pat Spike with her hoof. She wanted to run and embrace him as tightly as possible in the same moment. As he walked away, she closed her eyes and fell asleep hoping it was all just a bad dream.
It Wasn’t Just a Dream
Twilight woke up groggy and miserable. Reality was hitting her. Then she thought of going to Zecora. “Maybe her alicorn potion would do the trick.” Twilight made the trek through the Everfree forest just before sundown.
Zecora greeted her “Hello Twilight my dear, something bothers you I fear.”
“Zecora, can you make more of that memory potion I drank to find out what happened in the past?”
“That depends. For what purpose shall I make this potion for your ends?”
“I’m trying to remember an event, and I need to look at it from an outside perspective.”
“You only would see what you saw before, and nothing more.”
“Thank you anyway Zecora. I would need a sideways perspective.”
“I wish I could help more. I’ve helped you and you’ve saved Equestria so I don’t keep score.”
Twilight realized that she could ask one of the other princesses, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. She needed to be strong, or at least she told herself.
Journalling
Post incident entry 1:
I am starting this diary to account for what happened. I need an accurate representation of my feelings on the matter over time to be able to help ponies in the future. Let me think. I know I have learned the value of confiding in friends and those I trust . . . but how can I? What will they do? Will they blame me for being stupid enough to not check my drink? I was so stupid. I should have known to be vigilant. Ever since changelings kidnapped me, I’ve been trying to be so careful. I shouldn’t have taken a night off.
Post incident entry 2:
Spike keeps on asking me how I am doing. I keep on telling him fine. I feel off. Everything is off. When I sleep, I see him, but I somehow can’t. It is so bleary and unclear. I hate him so much. I want him to suffer. I want him to bleed. I want to see his face as I look him in the eye and weep.

I’m still trying to act like everything is okay with my friends. Pinkie Pie brought me cupcakes today. They tasted well amazing. I haven’t been eating enough. I’ll have to make sure to keep track of food. I suppose I can have Spike write that in. I’ve hidden his, Celestia I don’t even know how to write this. I’ve hidden his semen in a vault that I have magically sealed. Maybe I’ll figure out something. I’ve been trying to stop the cringing. My friends are noticing.

A few minutes later, Healthy Heart came in. When she began to make sure her vagina was running properly, Twilight still felt that dread, but she she breathed slowly to suppress it. After about a minute, Healthy Heart’s eyes grew wide. She noticed some scar tissue.
“Twilight, to ensure we can treat you well, is it okay if we have Good Health come in?
I’m done looking. We all need to have a chat.”
“Sure I guess. Is something wrong?”
After Good Health came in Healthy Heart began, “Twilight, I noticed some scar tissue. This can be the sign of a serious infection or injury. We want to help you, but we need to ask a personal question. Have you been sexually active recently?”
Twilight looked down and blinked. Then she blinked again, and then she cried.
“I don’t know who the bastard was. I was at a party, and then everything got fuzzy. One drink and I was losing it. I have flashes of seeing him, but I woke up in my castle on the floor. I tried to do a tracking spell on . . . but he had already enchanted it so it was untraceable.”
Good Health with a grim face began, “Twilight, I think we should do a pregnancy test. We want to make sure your are all right. It is rare but possible that conception took place under these circumstances.”
Twilight quietly whimpered as she took the test.Good Health and Healthy Heart looked at one another with quiet sympathy. They knew that this was horrible, but imagining it happening to their very own Twilight was so unbearable. Then they all looked. There was a plus sign on the stick.
The Referral
Good Health and Healthy Heart both sighed in tandem. Healthy Heart signed a piece of paper giving it to Twilight. It was a referral to a Planned Ponyhood. It had recently opened up in Ponyville.
Healthy Heart explained, “They are the best at removing these kinds of issues. I understand that this was a traumatic experience, and perhaps they can save you more heartache.”
Twilight took the paper with her magic, nodded and grimly went on. Twilight went straight to the local Planned Ponyhood. She got in there and gave the paper to the doctor pony at the front. Then Twilight was called in.
The doctor did some normal check-ups. He asked her if she was on any medication, and made sure nothing would mix poorly with anesthesia. He said he didn’t ever prescribe RU-486 because of the bleeding risk. Finally, he did an ultrasound. Only he looked at it, and he confirmed the fetus was far enough along that a suction abortion would be preferred. However, she would have to be under so she got an appointment for the next day to forget this whole mess.
A Chance Encounter
As Twilight walked out of the clinic, Applejack happened to be at her stall selling apples nearby. Applejack immediately left her stall and went to Twilight. Twilight noticing Applejack start trotting away to make it look like she came from somewhere else.
“Hiya Twilight. How are you doing today?”
Sighing Twilight responded, “I’m fine Applejack. Just walking around. Fresh air right?”
Applejack gave Twilight a deadpan look. “So you didn’t just come out of Planned Ponyhood?”
“So what if I did? I can go where I want!”
“Twilight, I was talking to Pinkie Pie about that party a while back, and she said you got sick from a medication. What medication?”
Twilight just looked at Applejack for a second. Then she looked down. Blinked, and her eyes began to water.
“Sugarcube, let’s head back to your castle. I think you need to talk to your friends.”
“Do you think I want to spread this? What will they think?”
“Now Twi, you don’t have to tell everypony whatever happened. We just want to make sure you are okay?”
After they arrived in the castle, they went to a private room and began to talk.
“You want to know the truth Applejack? I was raped. Ok. Some bastard drugged my drink and dropped me back at home after he was done with me. Heat has never been a big deal for me. I sometimes don’t even know if I am in it”
Applejack nodded and pat Twilight on the back. “Well first off, any way to track this varmint?”
“No Applejack. He must have been a unicorn. I tried using a tracking spell on what he left, but it he must have known the spell to remove the trace. We may never know who did it. Heck, I’m pretty sure he changed forms.”
“So am I right in thinking . . .”
“Yes Applejack. I’m pregnant.”
“I’m so sorry he did this to you.”
“Well it is a simple solution. I have my abortion appointment tomorrow and I can forget this whole mess.”
“Twilight, please don’t.”
“Do you know what he did to me? He violated me. How could I be forced to raise his foal knowing his evil crime? This is my choice.”
“Look, Twilight I don’t know what the right thing to say here is. I just want you to be okay.”
“Then support my choice.”
“Well it ain’t so simple sugarcube. I don’t want you be hurt further. It seems so easy, but that just means he wins.”
“How the hell does that mean he wins? I’m wiping his prodigy from Equestria. It will be as if it never happened.”
“Damn it. I wish that were the truth, but this doesn’t go away. His sins will still haunt you whether you have the foal or not.”
“I should not be forced to look at half the face of my rapist every single day.”
“Twilight, I can’t stop you. I just want to make sure you really understand.”
Manehattan Memories
Applejack had gotten off the train for the big city. Her Uncle Orange greeted her. “My dear Applejack, how was your trip?”
“It was mighty fine. The grub was meh. Granny’s apple fritters spoiled me I guess.”
“Oh Applejack. You are in the city now. You must learn to control those erm, rustic mannerisms.”
Well poor Applejack was put through the etiquette ringer. Salad forks, titles, and hoof shakes. Sometimes she would sneak away to a nearby youth center. Well unfortunately for her, being late to getting a cutie mark didn’t mean she was late for other things. Applejack found herself in her first heat at the just the wrong time.
The earth pony colt was only a year older than her. His mane was brown, and he had a basketball cutiemark. He was shooting hoops while Applejack watched. He sniffed and went over to Applejack.
“What’s your name miss?”
“I’m Applejack. Ahm from east o hear. I mean, I’m from a rural county just west of Canterlot called Ponyville. What’s your name.”
“Name’s Long Shot. Why are you talking funny? You went from sounding normal to just weird.
“My Aunt and Uncle Orange just keep on trying to get rid of all my countryisms.”
“Well, I like countryisms. People in Manehattan can get stuck up, and I like places where things besides potted plants grow.”
The conversation started innocently enough, but hormones and natural urges kicked in. Before they knew it, they were in the closet making out. That turned to sex.
When Aunt and Uncle Orange took Applejack to the doctor for her nausea a few months later, the doctor noticed the extra pooch. Applejack cried revealing what she did with Long Shot.
The Oranges with grim faces told Applejack they knew a doctor who could make it all go away.
Present Day
“Twilight, they took me to a Planned Ponyhood like the one you just left. I was put under, and almost everything went off without a hitch. Except, I woke up too soon. My eyes were glazed over but I saw my foal on the table next to me. He was bloodied up and put together like a horrific jigsaw puzzle. He was so little. Just two or three inches. There was his head, torso ripped in three pieces, and all four legs.” Applejack began weeping. “Twilight, I let them kill my baby.”
“Applejack, you were so young. You weren’t ready. They should have watched you better.”
“But they didn’t Twilight, and my foal paid the price. I can’t save him Twilight, but maybe I can save yours.”
“I didn’t have a choice. My choice was taken away from me with that drink. Well now I do have a choice.”
“Twilight, please, my abortion still haunts me to this day. Sometimes, I avoid going to sleep just so I don’t have to see that puzzle when I close my eyes. Why do you think I work myself to exhaustion? I would not wish this that fate on anypony. You’re my friend Twilight, and I don’t want you to suffer the same pain.”
“But I didn’t even get to choose to try or take the risk of a foal. It was all taken away from me.”
“Yes Twilight. Your choice was taken away, and that is despicable. It may feel like you are ending his hold on you, but you are just answering his violence with more violence.”
“I just can’t look it in the face.”
“Then I’ll adopt it.”
“What?”
“You heard me Twilight. Consider it making things right or at least better. I will never be able to raise or even conceive all the things my first foal could have done, but if I can save another, maybe he’ll forgive me when I see him on the pasture on the other side.”
“Applejack but . . .”
“Or if that is still too close, I’ll call my relations, there are some Apples near Las Pegasus who have been meaning to adopt.”
“Is it even a pony Applejack? Isn’t it just developing into one?”
“Well Twilight, I think it is, but maybe you don’t. All I can tell you is I hope you are sure, because if you are wrong, then a foal will die as a result. I’m just trying to protect you from worse pain. That life developing from this violence didn’t rape you. He did. Please don’t condemn it for his crime.”
“Can you come with me. I need to go to the Planned Ponyhood one more time today.”
“I’m here Twilight.”
An Epilogue
Twilight cancelled her appointment for the next day and kept the foal. Princess Shining Star lived to give her mother much mischief and love, but that is a story for another day.
And a More Satisfying Epilogue
“Twilight. I have mail for you. It’s from Princess Luna.”
“Thank you Spike.”
It read.
Dear Twilight,
Forgive me for this letter taking so long. I was meditating in my own dreams, and I remembered walking through your dreams a few months ago. I had left myself some sort of reminder. It is like a cobweb in the mind that I have learned to place that helps me remember what is the most forgettable, but they are fickle and easy to lose track of. Something about it prompted me to say, that I dealt with him to you. I don’t really know who or what him is, but apparently I dealt with him, and I was left with the sense that whoever he was would harm nopony ever again.
