After the pony war (Which I talked about in Rise of Equestria), Twilight's friend, Nathan, confessed that he had feelings for her, and they became a couple. It's been about a year at this point, and the news was spreading quickly to the human six. Of course, it has been a while since Twilight actually went back there, and in reality all her friends graduated and apparently she didn't realise a thing.
As you expect, Flash had a crush on the pony Twilight before. So now that she found her soulmate, what will happen?
In the human world, Flash was hanging out with Sunset Shimmer just at a local cafe. They were chatting for a bit, when Sunset's book started to glow.
'Huh, finally a new message from princess Twilight! Haven't heard from her in a while,' She said.
As she silently read through the message, it wrote:
'Dear Sunset Shimmer,
How have you and your friends been? I miss you all so much!
We haven't talked in quite some time. I'm sorry I didn't have the time to visit you girls. I was really busy recently, as you may have heard that I have been a part of the pony war. Now that I think about it, it's a bit odd to think I never saw you during the war. Nonetheless, we still won in the end!
Anyway, that's not the main thing I want to talk about. What is important is this: I am officially dating with someone now! A while before the war, when human technology was spreading to Equestria, I met a new friend called Nathan, who I hope to introduce to you all soon. After winning, he confessed his crush on me. Now, I'm pretty happy with my life with him by my side so far. However... I am a bit nervous what Flash will think of me. I don't know what he'll think about it. Just... do your best to hide the secret from him. But, if it's revealed, I won't be mad.
I'll have to cut it short for now, I have some videos to record with my other new friends. I'm really looking forward to your reply. See you soon!
From Twilight Sparkle.'
'Wow, she has a special someone now?' Sunset thought. 'We really need to catch up soon.'
Flash saw she was thinking of something. 'Hey, what's wrong?'
She closed the book immediately. 'Oh, nothing. Nothing special, Twilight just wanted to tell me why she hasn't wrote to me in a while and what happened in her life.'
Flash was staring at her. 'Something tells me you're being a bit fishy here...'
Sunset laughed it off. 'Haha, it's nothing! Why would I lie?'
Suddenly, her phone rang. The caller was the human Twilight.
'Ah, hi Twilight, what's up?' She asked in the call.
'Hey, we're waiting for you at our old school. We wanted to have a little gathering at the statue, remember?' Twilight asked.
'Oh, sorry. I'll be there in a minute.' She ended the call. '(Sigh) Sorry Flash, gotta go, my old friends are waiting. See you later.'
As she left, Flash was pondering about something.
'She's hiding it from me... I know she must be trying to hide a secret...' He thought. 'But what is it?'
Back in the pony world, Twilight just filmed another video with Frisk.
'Phew, another video is done, thanks for pitching in, Twilly.' Frisk said.
'Glad to join in for the fun!'
Then, Starlight came into the room.
'Twilight~ Seems like Sunset wrote to you!' She gave her the book.
'Replied already? Cool!' Twilight replied, reading her message.
'Hi Twilight,
It certainly has been a while since we talked. And to be honest, we miss you too. I saw your struggles and I think you should try to talk about it with him. Maybe that will help him feel better. I feel that he is a bit cross, and I think he probably knows what you are up to.
I'll see if I can get him to talk with you. I know you two both had a crush on each other in the past, but after you were gone for a little bit, and the human version of you came up, things certainly have changed. He kinda gave up on trying to win your heart, and now the friendship between me and him are repairing itself. So don't worry about it.
You guys really should talk about it. Who knows how he'll think if you one day actually marry your new special someone. Anyway, it's been glad to hear from you!
Your friend, Sunset Shimmer.'
'Hey, what's that you're reading there?' Frisk asked.
She was concentrating on the letter. 'Hmmm... That's a good idea. I really should find him soon.'
'Find who?'
Twilight turned to her. 'Oh, about him. Let me tell you more. It's... complicated, I had a crush on him.'
'Really?'
'His name is Flash Sentry. When I first went to the human world, he kinda had a crush on me already. He even asked me to dance with him at the fall formal night. I haven't seen him in a while, and to think I am now a couple with Nathan, he'll will probably be jealous and thought I dumped him.' She explained.
Frisk was curious. 'Oh, that's not good. You should probably talk it out with him.'
'I'm planning to do that someday. When I am more free first.'
Nathan came in during their chat.
'(Giggles) Hey Twilight~ What's going on?' He asked.
'Nathan... I have something pretty personal to ask.' said Twilight.
'Oh? What's that?'
'You know my old crush, Flash Sentry, right?' He nodded. 'Okay. So basically, now that we are together, he is going to be jealous of what I am doing with you. I'm going to talk with him about this issue.' She told him.
'If it was anyone else, I'll say no, but you do have a point for this one. Alright, so you're saying I'm coming, right?' Nathan asked.
She nodded. 'Just in case. But, don't worry, it'll be fine. I won't have to break up with you.'
'(Giggles) Of course you won't break up with me, my little princess.' He giggled, kissing Twilight.
About a week later, Sunset was just chilling by herself at the statue of Canterlot High.
'(Whistles) Kinda feels lonely after I graduated,' She thought.
All of a sudden, the portal was working it's magic, and the couple came out, including Frisk as well.
'(Gasp) Twilight?'
'(Giggles) Hi Sunset! It's been quite a while since we last met!' Twilight replied.
As those two were getting along again, Frisk and Nathan were going all crazy through that portal trip, since it was slightly different to the normal one.
'That was much more different than I thought...' Frisk said.
Nathan was looking at Sunset. 'Oh, it's you, Sunset Shimmer! Glad to meet you!'
'You must be Nathan, correct? Twilight told me,' She asked.
Twilight remembered about it. 'Ah, yes, my new friends!' She said. 'This is my new boyfriend, Nathan, and my best friend, Frisk!'
'Call me Sunset Shimmer. I'm pleased to meet you awesome friends she made.' She said, giving the two a nice handshake, then turning back to her friend. 'So, coming back for Flash, I suppose?'
'Oh... Yeah, I came back because I wanted to talk to him,' Twilight replied, her face turning red.
'I invited him for dinner today, wanna join in?' Sunset asked.
'Sure, why not?' Frisk answered.
As Flash saw them arrive, he knew he was right; His crush belonged to someone else.
'Oh boy, someone won her heart, now I'm alone,' He thought.
As Twilight saw his face, she knew he was feeling a bit depressed.
'Hey... Flash, it's been a while.' She called out.
He turned to her. '(Chuckles) Great to see you again.'
'Haha, I feel the same.' Twilight replied, and they hugged each other.
'Alright, let's go and talk about the real stuff now, I guess,' Nathan didn't want to interrupt their moment but wanted this to go fast and smooth, he didn't want to lose her.
As they were having their meal, Flash brought up the question.
'So... You guys are in love now, aren't you?'
Nathan nodded. 'Exactly. I know, I know, you had a crush on her first. I guess I was a step ahead of you.'
Flash sighed. 'Well, I guess I'll be finding someone else then. Maybe Sunset, we used to date back in the old days. I mean, Twilight was a really good choice and she seemed pretty charming and friendly. I thought we could work our way up if we became friends. But then the war came up, and after it ended you guys became a couple, am I right?'
'You must have had a really deep affection towards her,' Frisk said.
'Oh, Flash Sentry...' Twilight lightly touched his hands. 'Honestly, I had a crush on you as well. But, life got in the way and we didn't really spend much time together. I met a lot of new friends, and I feel like being back in my pony life seemed much better. And although I tempted to go back for you after I kinda lost Frisk in the war, I felt like you must have found somebody else. But, turns out you didn't. I kinda feel sorry now.'
He felt his face turn red. 'It's alright. I can handle it myself. And to be honest, I wanted to go back for you as well. But it will feel a little weird if I am a pony, and I'm not sure what to do. I have talked to Sunset about it before, and I tried to find someone new out there who would care about me a lot, the same way you did for me.'
When they were talking, Nathan was texting on his phone to his old friend about all of this.
'By the way, the fandom of the show really dislikes you, Flash.' He giggled.
Twilight punched him playfully. 'Nathan! You're not helping!'
'(Chuckles) I know that. And I'll admit, maybe it was because of me trying to get together with her. But now that all of this is not going to be the case anymore and you won't be caught sight of in this world, it should be fine. I got used to everyone saying I am the worst character in the show and all that.' Flash explained.
Frisk laughed. 'It's never late to change yourself, I have been through this quite a lot. Let me tell you guys about it.'
'(Sigh) Oh boy, time to hear Frisk rambling about her entire adventure which is totally possible to know by reading her story series Harmony Quest!' Nathan said, joking around. 'No offence to you, Frisk.'
'(Hmph) Fine, I'll tell the short version that won't take forever to explain, if that's what you want.' She replied, crossing her arms, feeling unamused.
'That explains a lot...' Sunset said curiously.
'Explains what?' Twilight asked.
'Well, what do you think?' She replied, grinning. 'The fact you two became best friends and the fact that you and Nathan became a couple! Now I wonder... What are you guys gonna do now?'
Frisk beamed. 'Take that, Nathan.' She thought. 'So basically, we-'
'Okay, okay, that's enough Frisk. We had a long enough chat for one night.' Flash interrupted.
Nathan stick his tongue out playfully at Frisk. 'Lol, who has the last laugh now?'
Everyone started laughing, and a while later they decided to leave.
Before they left each other, Twilight wanted to ask Flash one last thing.
'Oh, one more thing, Flash...'
'Yeah? What is it?' He asked.
She was blushing and feeling shy. 'I'm just thinking... Will you... will you be mad at me if I married him?'
Flash laughed. 'Oh, about that. I expected you would ask, but no, I won't be mad. Just... stay friends with me after your marriage.'
'Okay, I guess...' Twilight said softly.
'What's wrong, Twilight?'
'I still feel a bit guilty for leaving you like this... I just hope you'll be okay and you will forgive me.' She said.
He smiled, and patted her head. 'Hey, it's okay. I'll be fine with Sunset. I know you won't forget me.'
Sunset came over. 'So Flash, going back the usual way, I suppose?'
'Don't you want to go with your friend?' He asked.
'No, it's alright.'
Twilight giggled. 'Sunset Shimmer, you know you haven't went back to Equestria for a while... Do you want to come back?' She put out her hand.
She thought about it a lot, but then she shook her head and lowered Twilight's arm. 'I don't know if I am ready yet. But, I'm working on it, I think I will come back soon. But until then, you'll keep in touch, right?'
Twilight remembered something, 'Oh, about that, I forgot to ask you for your phone number. Then, we can text each other on the phone instead, as technology works in Equestria now.'
After exchanging contact information, they tested the testing to see if it's working.
'Okay, perfect!' Sunset said happily.
'Hey Twilight! Let's go back already!' Frisk callled out.
She turned back to her friend after nodding to Frisk. 'Alright, take care guys. I have to go now.' She hugged them both.
As Flash let go, he wanted something more.
'Twilly, can I kiss you?' He asked.
She turned back. 'Oh, haha, sure.'
After they lightly kissed each other, Twilight went with her friends.
As they were walking, the three were chatting.
'You know, if it weren't for this portal network thing, I wouldn't have known that the human world existed at all. Then, all our adventures wouldn't have happened.' Twilight said.
Frisk nodded. 'You're right. But... now I am curious... Why didn't I become a pony when I came to your world at first?'
'Maybe because you're born human? Or does it have to do with you being the chosen one or something?' Nathan replied to her. 'Sweetheart, you probably should look this up on the internet or something.'
She giggled. 'Maybe one day I'll do that.'
As they chatted, they got to the portal.
'Phew, I am just glad he's okay with us being together.' He said, blushing.
'I know, right? I was so worried!' Twilight replied.
'Haha, you're still my sweet girl, Twilly. So... have you got used to me kissing you yet?' Nathan asked.
'(Giggles) I've got used to it since our first one.' She said, and then they both kissed.
This time, though, Frisk can't hold the secret in.
'Nathan and Twilight, sitting on a tree~ K-i-s-s-i-n-g!'
'Wha- Frisk!' They both yelled at her.
'What?' She asked playfully.
They all laughed, and they all went through the portal back to Equestria.
